In overlapping distribution areas of Sorbus pohuashanensis and *** in North China(Mount Tuoliang,Mount Xiling and Mount Baihua),Sorbus indi-viduals were found with pink fruit,which have never been recorded for the flora of *** morphological characters combined with four chloroplast DNA markers and internal transcribed spacer(ITS)were used to analyze the origin of the Sorbus individuals with pink fruits and their relationship to *** and ***,SDA and one-way(taxon)ANOVA of morphological characters provided convincing evidence of the hybrid ori-gin of Sorbus individuals with pink fruits based on a novel morphological character and many intermediate *** analysis based on four cpDNA markers showed that either *** or *** were maternal parents of Sorbus individuals with pink ***-ence of the position of Sorbus individuals with pink fruits between cpDNA and ITS in cluster trees supported by DNA sequence comparative analysis,implying former hybridiza-tion events between *** and ***-tiple hybridization events between *** and *** might have contributed to the generation of Sorbus individuals with pink *** study has provided insights into hybridization between species of the same genus in sympatric areas,which is of great significance for the study of interspecific hybridization.

The mechanical characteristics and acoustic behavior of rock masses are greatly influenced by stochastic *** this study,numerical models of rock masses incorporating intermittent joints with different numbers and dip angles were produced using the finite element method(FEM)with the intrinsic cohesive zone model(ICZM).Then,the uniaxial compressive and wave propagation simulations were *** results indicate that the joint number and dip angle can affect the mechanical and acoustic properties of the *** uniaxial compressive strength(UCS)and wave velocity of rock masses decrease monotonically as the joint number ***,the wave velocity grows monotonically as the joint dip angle *** the joint dip angle is 45°–60°,the UCS of the rock mass is lower than that of other dip *** wave velocity parallel to the joints is greater than that perpendicular to the *** the dip angle of joints remains unchanged,the UCS and wave velocity are positively *** the joint dip angle increases,the variation amplitude of the UCS regarding the wave velocity *** reveal the effect of the joint distribution on the velocity,a theoretical model was also *** to the theoretical wave velocity,the change in wave velocity of models with various joint numbers and dip angles was consistent with the simulation ***,a theoretical indicator(*** tensor)was adopted to analyze the variation of the wave velocity and UCS.

Understanding the mechanical properties and multiscale failure mechanism of frozen soft rock is an important prerequisite for the construction safety of tunnels,artificially frozen ground and other infrastructure in cold *** this study,the triaxial compression test are performed on mudstone in the weakly cemented soft rock strata in the mining area of western China,and the mechanical characteristics and failure mechanism of weakly cemented mudstone are systematically investigated under the combined action of freezing and ***,the quantitative relationship between the microstructural parameters and the macroscopic strength and deformation parameters is established based on fractal ***,the failure mechanism of frozen weakly cemented mudstone is revealed on both micro- and *** results show that temperature and confining pressure significantly affects the elastic modulus and peak strength of weakly cemented *** decreasing temperature,the compressive strength increases,while the corresponding peak strain decreases *** the deformation curve,the plastic deformation stage is shortened,and the brittle fracture feature at the post-peak stage is more prominent,and the elastic modulus correspondingly increases with decreasing *** low-temperature conditions,most of the weakly cemented mudstone undergoes microscopic shear failure along the main fracture *** micro-fracture morphology characteristics of weakly cemented mudstone under different temperatures are quantified via the fractal dimension,and an approximately exponential relationship can be obtained among the fractal dimension and the temperature,compressive strength and elastic modulus.

A novel triaxial vibration method is developed for the real-time characterization of the solid particle size distribution(PsD)in pneumatic particulate flow,which is critical for chemical *** this work,the particle-wall collision and friction behaviours were analysed by the time-domain statistical and timefrequency joint methods to narrow the high-frequency response range by the initial experiment of free fall for a single particle,interparticle,and multiple ***,verification experiments of PSD characterization in pneumatic flow were ***,the quantitative triaxial energy response model that considers the particle size,shape,and mass factors were ***,a good agreement of the particle number identification was found between the triaxial vibration energy and mean particle size of 150-550μ***,the performance with the best accuracy was focused on a range of 42-43 kHz in the x-axis and z-axis and 36.8-38.8 kHz in the ***,the individual particle energy was inversely analysed by the triaxial vibration response within the optimized frequency bands,and the PSD was characterized in real-time by a low error rate,that is,5.2% from the XZ-axis direction of sand(42-43 kHz)and 5.6% from the XYZ-axis of glass(30.9-33.9 kHz,46.2-47.2 kHz,38.3-41.3 kHz for each axis response).Therefore,this research complements the existing approaches for PsD characterization in particulate multiphase flow.

Different Types of Bone Fractures Observed by Terahertz Time-Domain Spectroscopy

Microcracks are common in compact bone,but their continued propagation can lead to macroscopic *** microcracks cannot be visualized radiographically,necessitating alternative noninvasive methods to identify excessive microcracking and prevent *** this study,terahertz time-domain spectroscopy(THz-TDS)was used to examine bone interiors near cracks resulting from loading in bovine tibia *** loading configurations,such as impact,quasi-static loading,and fatigue loading,known to induce different types of micro-scale damage,were *** values of refractive index and absorption coefficient of the bone samples were then determined from the THz-TDS spectra acquired before loading and after *** study revealed that different loading configurations led to varying terahertz optical coefficients associated with various types of bone ***,the refractive index notably increased under fatigue loading but remained relatively stable during quasi-static *** absorption coefficient of bone decreased only under fatigue ***,samples were subjected to axial and radial impacts without sustaining *** indicated that in the undamaged state,the change in refractive index was smaller compared to after impact failure,while the change in absorption coefficient remained consistent after *** radial impact loading,changes in refractive index and absorption coefficient were significantly more pronounced than under axial *** to loading,the measured value of refractive index was 2.72±0.11,and the absorption coefficient was 6.33±0.09 mm^(−1)at 0.5 THz.

With the development of detection and identification technology,infrared stealth is of great value to realize anti-reconnaissance detection of military *** present,infrared stealth materials generally have deficiency,such as complex structure,inconvenient radiation regulation and cumbersome preparation steps,which greatly limit the practical application of infrared stealth *** view of the above deficiency of infrared stealth materials,we proposed a kind of multilayer film for infrared stealth using VO2thermochromism based on the temperature response mechanism of tuna to adjust its color,and through the intelligent reversible radiation regulation mechanism to meet the infrared stealth requirements of tanks in different actual *** results show that when the temperature increases from 300 K to 373 K,the peak emissivity of the film decreases from 94%to 20%in the 8-14μm band after structural optimization,which can realize the infrared stealth of the high temperature target in the 8-14μm *** average emissivity of the multilayer film for infrared stealth at3-5μm and 8-14μm band can be reduced to 34%and 27%at 373 K,and the peak emissivity at 5-8μm band can reach 65%,realizing dual-band infrared stealth in the 3-5μm and 8-14μm bands and heat dissipation in the 5-8μm *** multilayer film for infrared stealth based on VO2thermochromism designed by the authors can meet the characteristics of simple film structure,convenient radiation regulation and simple preparation.

Chemical short-range orders(CSROs),as the built-in sub-nanoscale entities in a high-/medium-entropy alloy(H/MEA),have aroused an ever-increasing *** multi-principal elements in an H/MEA to form a complex concentrated solution,a variety of sub-systems of species exist to induce the metastable ordered compounds as candidates for ultimate *** issues remain pending on the origin of CSROs as to how to judge if CSRO will form in an H/MEA and particularly,what kind of CSROs would be stably produced if there were multiple ***,the first-principles method,along with the proposed local formation energy calculation in allusion to the atomic-scale chemical heterogeneities,is used to predict the CSRO formation based on the mechanical stability,thermodynamic formation energy,and electronic *** simulations are detailed in an equiatomic ternary VCoNi MEA with three kinds of potential compounds,i.e.,L1_(1),L1_(2),and B2,in the face-centered cubic *** turns out that L1_(1)is stable but hard to grow up so as to become the final CSRO.L1_(1)is further predicted as CSROs in CrCoNi,but unable to form in FeCoNi and CrMnFeCoNi *** predictions are consistent with the experimental *** findings shed light on understanding the formation of *** method is applicable to other H/MEAs to design and tailor CSROs by tuning chemical species/contents and thermal processing for high performance.

Based on hourly rain gauge data during May–September of 2016–20,we analyze the spatiotemporal distributions of total rainfall(TR)and short-duration heavy rainfall(SDHR;hourly rainfall≥20 mm)and their diurnal variations over the middle reaches of the Yangtze River *** all three types of terrain(i.e.,mountain,foothill,and plain),the amount of TR and SDHR both maximize in June/July,and the contribution of SDHR to TR(CST)peaks in August(amount:23%;frequency:1.74%).Foothill rainfall is characterized by a high TR amount and a high CST(in amount);mountain rainfall is characterized by a high TR frequency but a small CST(in amount);and plain rainfall shows a low TR amount and frequency,but a high CST(in amount).Overall,stations with high TR(amount and frequency)are mainly located over the mountains and in the foothills,while those with high SDHR(amount and frequency)are mainly concentrated in the foothills and plains close to mountainous *** all three types of terrain,the diurnal variations of both TR and SDHR exhibit a double peak(weak early morning and strong late afternoon)and a phase shift from the early-morning peak to the late-afternoon peak from May to *** the late-afternoon peak,the amount of TR and SDHR in the foothills is larger than over the mountains and *** TR intensity in the foothills increases significantly from midnight to afternoon,suggesting that thermal instability may play an important role in this process.

Aqueous zinc-ion capacitors (ZICs) are considered as potential candidates for next generation electrochemical energy storage devices due to their high safety and low ***,the existing aqueous ZICs usually have the problems of zinc dendrite growth and unsatisfactory performance at low ***,an erythritol (Eryt) additive with inhibition of zinc dendrites and anti-freezing capability was introduced into the *** experimental characterization and theoretical calculation confirm that the Eryt adsorbed on the surface of zinc anodes regulates the deposition orientation of Zn^(2+) and inhibits the formation of *** also reconstructs the solvation structure in the electrolyte to reduce water activity,enabling the electrolyte to have a lower freezing point for operation at low *** the assistance of Eryt,the Zn||Zn symmetric cell exhibits a long cycle life of 2000 h,while the ZIC assembled with activated carbon (AC) cathode and zinc anode (Zn||AC) maintains a capacity retention of 98.2% after 30,000 cycles at a current density of 10 A g^(-1)(even after 10,000 cycles at-20°C,the capacity retention rate reached 94.8%.).This work provides a highly scalable,low-cost and effective strategy for the protection of the anodes of low-temperature aqueous ZICs.
