N6-methyladenosine(m^(6)A), the most prevalent and conserved RNA modification in eukaryotic cells, profoundly influences virtually all aspects of mRNA metabolism. mRNA plays crucial roles in neural stem cell genesis and neural regeneration, where it is highly concentrated and actively involved in these processes. Changes in m^(6)A modification levels and the expression levels of related enzymatic proteins can lead to neurological dysfunction and contribute to the development of neurological diseases. Furthermore, the proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells, as well as nerve regeneration, are intimately linked to memory function and neurodegenerative diseases. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the roles of m^(6)A in neural stem cell proliferation, differentiation, and self-renewal, as well as its implications in memory and neurodegenerative diseases. m^(6)A has demonstrated divergent effects on the proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells. These observed contradictions may arise from the time-specific nature of m^(6)A and its differential impact on neural stem cells across various stages of development. Similarly, the diverse effects of m^(6)A on distinct types of memory could be attributed to the involvement of specific brain regions in memory formation and recall. Inconsistencies in m^(6)A levels across different models of neurodegenerative disease, particularly Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease, suggest that these disparities are linked to variations in the affected brain regions. Notably, the opposing changes in m^(6)A levels observed in Parkinson's disease models exposed to manganese compared to normal Parkinson's disease models further underscore the complexity of m^(6)A's role in neurodegenerative processes. The roles of m^(6)A in neural stem cell proliferation, differentiation, and self-renewal, and its implications in memory and neurodegenerative diseases, appear contradictory. Endoplasmic reticulum stress and autophagy in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury:PERK as a potential target for intervention

Several studies have shown that activation of unfolded protein response and endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress plays a crucial role in severe cerebral ischemia/reperfusion *** occurs within hours after cerebral ischemia,but the relationship between ER stress and autophagy remains *** this study,we established experimental models using oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation in PC12 cells and primary neurons to simulate cerebral ischemia/reperfusion *** found that prolongation of oxygen-glucose deprivation activated the ER stress pathway protein kinase-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase(PERK)/eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 subunit alpha(e IF2α)-activating transcription factor 4(ATF4)-C/EBP homologous protein(CHOP),increased neuronal apoptosis,and induced ***,inhibition of ER stress using inhibitors or by si RNA knockdown of the PERK gene significantly attenuated excessive autophagy and neuronal apoptosis,indicating an interaction between autophagy and ER stress and suggesting PERK as an essential target for regulating *** autophagy with chloroquine exacerbated ER stress-induced apoptosis,indicating that normal levels of autophagy play a protective role in neuronal injury following cerebral ischemia/reperfusion *** from this study indicate that cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury can trigger neuronal ER stress and promote autophagy,and suggest that PERK is a possible target for inhibiting excessive autophagy in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury.

In Vitro Study on Mg-Sn-Mn Alloy as Biodegradable Metals

The mechanical properties, chemical properties and biocompatibility of Mg-3Sn-0.5Mn alloy were tested. A series of in vitro evaluations such as tensile test, static and dynamic immersion test, hemocompatibility test as well as cytotoxicity test were presented, with commercial magnesium alloy WE43 as the control. Mg-3Sn-0.5Mn alloy possesses suitable strength and superior ductility compared with WE43 and AZ31. Static immersion and dynamic degradation tests showed more uniform degradation with a more moderate rate for Mg-3Sn-0.5Mn alloy （0.34 mm/y in static condition and 0.25 mm/y in dynamic condition） compared with WE43 alloy （0.42 mm/y in static condition and 0.33 mm/y in dynamic condition） in Hank＇s solution. Blood compatibility evaluation suggested that Mg-3Sn-0.5Mn alloy had no destructive effect on erythrocyte and showed excellent anti-thrombogenicity to blood system. Besides, Mg-3Sn-0.5Mn alloy showed no inhibition effect to L929 metabolic activity and mild toxicity to vascular smooth muscle cell （VSMC） in preliminary cell viability assessment. By considering its excellent mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, low ion release rate and good biocompatibility, Mg-3Sn-0.5Mn alloy may be a promising economical candidate as biomedical implant material for load-bearing clinical applications in the future.

Precise gradient separation of nanoparticles using reduced graphene oxide-polyoxomolybdate membranes

The purification and size sieving of nanoparticles （NPs） represents a significant scientific ***,the r GO-polyoxometalates (POMs=PMo12,Mo132and Mo368) membranes were fabricated successfully via a simple and scalable POMsassisted in-situ photoreduction *** the mass ratio of r GO to PMo12was 1:30,the resultant r GO-PMo12membranes with highly ordered and uniform nanochannels of 1.0 nm can be obtained,which showed an accurate carbon quantum dots（CQDs） separation with a cut-off size approximately 1.0 *** increase of the size of the interlayered POMs from PMo12（1.0 nm）,{Mo132}（2.9 nm） to{Mo368}（3.8 nm）,the resultant r GO-PMo12,r GO-Mo132and r GO-Mo368exhibited precise gradient separation of CQDs and Au nanoparticles by size exclusion *** results pave a promising way to construct new twodimensional （2D） membranes for highly efficient size-selective separation.

Bi-extrapolated subgradient projection algorithm for solving multiple-sets split feasibility problem

This paper deals with a bi-extrapolated subgradient projection algorithm by intro- ducing two extrapolated factors in the iterative step to solve the multiple-sets split feasibility problem. The strategy is intend to improve the convergence. And its convergence is proved un- der some suitable conditions. Numerical results illustrate that the bi-extrapolated subgradient projection algorithm converges more quickly than the existing algorithms.

Intermolecular reductive coupling of aliphatic ketones with alkynes and alkenes by BCN photocatalysts

A photocatalytic process was developed for intermolecular reductive coupling of aliphatic ketones with alkynes/alkenes to furnish tertiary alcohols. Mechanistic studies support that boron carbonitrides(BCN) promote the single electron reduction of unactivated aliphatic ketones to generate ketyl radicals with visible light irradiation, which then react with alkynes and alkenes to afford the allylic and aliphatic alcohols, respectively. The heterogeneous photocatalytic system is compatible with diverse substrates including pharmaceutical-related molecules(43 examples) with reusability and scale-up experiments, verifying the complementary synthetic utility of this method to the homogeneous catalysts.

Multifunctional MgF_2/Polydopamine Coating on Mg Alloy for Vascular Stent Application

Mg alloy is of great potential in the application of vascular stent due to its degradation in physical environment and proper mechanical property. However its mechanical integrity does not meet the clinical requirement clue to relatively fast degradation. Besides, in order to accelerate the re- endothelialization of Mg-based stents, it needs surface modification to improve the attachment, growth and adhesion of endothelial cells （ECs）. To solve the main obstacles, an anti-corrosion and quick endothelialization coating was prepared on novel Mg-Zn-Y-Ncl alloy via a simple two-step immersion method in the present study, first in hydrofluoric acid （HF） then in dopamine tris-Hydrochloric acid （tris -HCI） solution. The coating was uniform and thin, which consisted of two layers--the upper was pol- yclopamine （PDA） layer and the lower was MgF2 layer. The alloy with the coating demonstrated dramatic corrosion resistance enhancement in vitro by immersion test and electrochemical test. Moreover the HF- PDA-treated Mg alloy exhibited great performance of cell adhesion and proliferation. The coating created a favorable environment for ECs to have a competitive advantage over vascular smooth muscle ceils （VSMCs）, which was preferable for re-enclothelialization. The results suggest that HF-PDA-treatecl Mg -Zn-Y-Nd alloy has great potential in the application of vascular stent and the surface coating method is of great aPPlication value in biodegraclable Mg alloy stent clue to its simplicity and effectiveness.

Study on Wave Characteristics from the South Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Guinea Based on Short-Term Numerical Simulation in Winter Season

Waves play a major role in the ocean phenomena in the Gulf of Guinea(GoG). In order to reveal the spatial-temporal distribution characteristics and the propagation mechanism of waves from the South Atlantic Ocean to the GoG, 4typical points located in mid-latitude of South Atlantic(14°30′W, 30°0′S), south of the GoG(10°30′W, 15°0′S), offshore of the GoG(0°0′, 0°0′) and near shore of the GoG(6°4′58.8″W, 4°3′36″S) are selected, and waves from Atlantic Ocean to GoG are simulated by using a two-layer-nesting wave numerical model SWAN(Simulating Waves Nearshore). The results show that the hybrid waves(waves hereafter) and the swells have strong relationship with local wind in Roaring Forties and at mid-latitude of South Atlantic Ocean, while there is no obvious correlation between waves and local winds in the GoG. Swells are generated in the South Atlantic Ocean and propagate into the GoG. 2D wave spectra at the four selected typical points are simulated. The spectral pattern and wave component structure indicate that the wave system in GoG is dominated by the S-SW swells generated from Roaring Forties and mid-latitude of South Atlantic, whether it is at maximum(2.2-2.8 m), medium(1.8-2.2 m) or minimum(1.2 m) significant wave height in the GoG during simulation period.

Asymmetrical Transport Distribution Function: Skewness as a Key to Enhance Thermoelectric Performance

How to achieve high thermoelectric figure of merit is still a scientific *** solving the Boltzmann transport equation,thermoelectric properties can be written as integrals of a single function,the transport distribution function(TDF).In this work,the shape effects of transport distribution function in various typical functional forms on thermoelectric properties of materials are systematically *** is found that the asymmetry of TDE,characterized by skewness,can be used to describe universally the trend of thermoelectric *** defining symmetric and asymmetric TDF functions,a novel skewness is then constructed for thermoelectric *** is demonstrated,by comparison with ab initio calculations and experiments,that the proposed thermoelectric skewness not only perfectly captures the main feature of conventional skewness but also is able to predict the thermoelectric power *** comparison confirms the unique feature of our proposed thermoelectric skewness,as well as its special role of connection between the statistics of TDF and thermoelectric properties of *** is also found that the thermoelectric performance can be enhanced by increasing the asymmetry of ***,it is also interesting to find that the thermoelectric transport properties based on typical quantum statistics(Fermi-Dirac distributions)can be well described by typical shape parameter(skewness)for classical statistics.
