As a type of non-laminated microbial carbonates, dendrolites are dominated by isolated dendritic clusters of calcimicrobes and are distinct from stromatolites and thrombolites. The dendrolites in the upper part of the Miaolingian zhangxia Formation at Anjiazhuang section in Feicheng city of Shandong Province, China, provide an excellent example for further understanding of both growth pattern and forming mechanism of dendrolites. These dendrolites are featured by sedimentary fabrics and composition of calcified microbes as follows.(1) The strata of massive limestones, composed of dendrolites with thickness of more than one hundred meters, intergrade with thick-bedded to massive leiolites, formimg the upper part of a third-order depositional sequence that constitutes a forced regressive systems tract.(2) A centimeter-sized bush-like fabric(shrub) typically produced by calcified microbes is similar to the mesoclot in thrombolites but distinctive from clotted fabrics of thrombolites. This bushlike fabric is actually constituted by diversified calcified microbes like the modern shrub as a result of gliding mobility of filamentous cyanobacteria. Such forms traditionally include: the Epiphyton group(which actually has uncertain biological affinity), the Hedstroemia group which closely resembles modern rivulariacean cyanobacteria,and the possible calcified cyanobacteria of the Lithocodium–Bacinella group.(3) Significantly, dense micrite of leiolite is associated with sponge fossils and burrows, and is covered by microstromatolite. The Lithocodium–Bacinella group is a controversial group of interpreted calcified cyanobacteria in the Cambrian that has also been widely observed and described in the Mesozoic. Therefore, dendrolites with symbiosis of leiolites in the studied section provide an extraordinary example for further understanding of growing style of bush-like fabrics(shrubs) of the dendrolites dominated by cyanobacterial mats. Lithium-sulfur batteries(LSBs)are considered promising candidates for next-generation battery technologies owing to their outstanding theoretical energy density and ***,the low conductivity and polysulfide shuttling effect of S cathodes severely hamper the practical performance of ***,in situ-generated single layer MXene nanosheet/hierarchical porous carbonized wood fiber(MX/PCWF)composites are prepared via a nonhazardous eutectic activation strategy coupled with pyrolysis-induced gas *** unique architecture,wherein single layer MXene nanosheets are constructed on carbonized wood fiber walls,ensures rapid polysulfide conversion and continuous electron transfer for redox *** C-Ti-C bonds formed between MXene and PCWF can considerably expedite the conversion of polysulfides,effectively suppressing the shuttle *** impressive capacity of 1301.1 m A h g^(-1)at 0.5 C accompanied by remarkable stability is attained with the MX/PCWF host,as evidenced by the capacity maintenance of 722.6 m A h g^(-1)after 500 ***,the MX/PCWF/S cathode can still deliver a high capacity of 886.8 m A h g^(-1)at a high S loading of 5.6 mg cm^(-2).The construction of two-dimensional MXenes on natural wood fiber walls offers a competitive edge over S-based cathode materials and demonstrates a novel strategy for developing high-performance batteries.

Humid air turbine cycle(HAT)has potential of electrical efficiencies comparable to combined cycle,with lower investment cost and NO_(x) *** typical heat exchanger network of HAT consists of intercooler(if there is),aftercooler,recuperator,economizer and humidifier,which brings higher efficiency but makes the system more *** simplify HAT layout,a novel humidifier concept is proposed by integrating the aftercooler into traditional counter-current *** on this concept,a one-dimensional model including pressure drop and exergy calculation is established to distinguish the thermodynamic and hydrodynamic characteristics,and then the structural parameters,such as the number of rows and columns,tube diameter,pitch and type for a micro HAT are *** results show that the aftercool-humidifier plays the same role as original aftercooler and humidifier,and can match the in-tube air,out-tube air and water stream well with lower *** the case of micro HAT cycle,the volume of heat and mass transfer area can be reduced by 47%compared with traditional *** major thermal resistance occurred in the convection heat transfer process inside the tube;however,using enhanced tube cannot effectively improve the compactness of device.

Photochemical Production of Methyl Halides with Guaiacol as the Precursor

Methyl halides are crucial trace greenhouse gases in the atmosphere,playing a significant role in global climate change and the atmospheric *** study investigated the photochemical production of methyl halides in an artificial seawater system using guaiacol as a precursor through laboratory simulation *** influences of various environmental factors,including illumination time,radiation wavebands,illumination intensity,concentrations of guaiacol and halide ions(X^(-)),Fe^(3+),salinity,dissolved oxygen(DO),and pH value on the photochemical production of methyl halides were *** demonstrated that increased illumination intensity and duration promote the photochemical production of methyl halides,with a notable enhancement under UV-B *** and halide ions were identified as key precursors,and their high concentrations facilitated the formation of methyl ***,different types of halide ions exhibited a competitive relationship in producing methyl *** study found that an increase in pH inhibited the photochemical formation of CH_(3)I due to the reaction between OH^(-)and·CH_(3).Dissolved oxygen was found to inhibit the photochemical formation of CH3I while promoting the formation of CH_(3)***,an appropriate concentration of Fe^(3+)enhanced the photochemical production of methyl *** observations indicated a high photochemical production of methyl halides in the natural waters near Qingdao’s coastal area,likely due to the high concentration of dissolved organic matter(DOM),which supports photochemical ***,the photochemical production of methyl halides in natural seawater was significantly higher than in dark conditions,underscoring the importance of illumination in promoting these photochemical processes in seawater.

The in vitro isolation and analysis of pancreatic stem/progenitor cells are necessary for understanding their properties and function; however, the preparation of high-quality single-cell suspensions from adult pancreas is pre- requisite. In this study, we applied a cold trypsin-ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid （EDTA） digestion method to disas- sociate adult mouse pancreata into single cells. The yield of single cells and the viability of the harvested cells were much higher than those obtained via the two commonly used warm digestion methods. Flow cytometric analysis showed that the ratio of ductal or BCRPl-positive cells in cell suspensions prepared through cold digestion was con- sistent with that found in vivo. Cell culture tests showed that pancreatic epithelial cells prepared by cold digestion maintained proliferative capacity comparable to those derived from warm collagenase digestion. These results indicate that cold trypsin-EDTA digestion can effectively disassociate an adult mouse pancreas into viable single cells with minimal cell loss, and can be used for the isolation and analysis of pancreatic stem/progenitor cells.

An effective and reliable prediction of the remaining useful life(RUL)of a tool is important to a metal forming process because it can significantly reduce unexpected maintenance,avoid machine shutdowns and increase system *** study proposes a new data-driven approach to the RUL prediction for metal forming processes under multiple contact sliding *** data-driven approach took advantage of bidirectional long short-term memory(BLSTM)and convolutional neural networks(CNN).A pre-trained lightweight CNN-based network,WearNet,was re-trained to classify the wear states of workpiece surfaces with a high accuracy,then the classification results were passed into a BLSTM-based regression model as inputs for RUL *** experimental results demonstrated that this approach was able to predict the RUL values with a small error(below 5%)and a low root mean square error(RMSE)(around 1.5),which was more superior and robust than the other state-of-the-art methods.

Global variance reduction is a bottleneck in Monte Carlo shielding *** global variance reduction problem requires that the statistical error of the entire space is *** study proposed a grid-AIS method for the global variance reduction problem based on the AIS method,which was implemented in the Monte Carlo program *** proposed method was validated using the VENUS-Ⅲ international benchmark problem and a self-shielding calculation *** results from the VENUS-Ⅲ benchmark problem showed that the grid-AIS method achieved a significant reduction in the variance of the statistical errors of the MESH grids,decreasing from 1.08×10^(-2) to 3.84×10^(-3),representing a 64.00% *** demonstrates that the grid-AIS method is effective in addressing global *** results of the selfshielding calculation demonstrate that the grid-AIS method produced accurate computational ***,the grid-AIS method exhibited a computational efficiency approximately one order of magnitude higher than that of the AIS method and approximately two orders of magnitude higher than that of the conventional Monte Carlo method.
