Micropollutant removal and disinfection byproduct control by sequential peroxymonosulfate-UV treatment in water: A case study with sulfamethoxazole

UV/peroxymonosulfate(UV/PMS) advanced oxidation process has attracted significant attention for removal of micropollutants in water. However, during practical water treatment applications, the PMS treatment must be performed before the UV treatment to achieve full contact. In this study, sulfamethoxazole(SMX) was selected as the target micropollutant. Four different operational approaches, including UV alone, PMS alone, simultaneous UV/PMS and sequential PMS-UV, were compared for their differences in SMX removal and disinfection by-product(DBP) formation potentials during chlorine-driven disinfection. Among the four approaches, UV/PMS and PMS-UV achieved over 90% removal efficiencies for SMX without substantial differences. For raw water, the trichloronitromethane(TCNM) formation potential after treatment with PMS-UV was lower than that after UV/PMS treatment. The time interval over which the PMS-UV process was conducted had little effect on the final removal efficiency for SMX. However, a brief(5 min) pre-PMS treatment significantly reduced the TCNM formation potential and the genotoxicity from DBPs. The formation risk for TCNM during chlorination increased markedly with increasing PMS dosages, and the appropriate dosage under these experimental conditions was suggested to be 0.5–1.0 mmol/L. Under alkaline conditions, PMS-UV treatment can enhance SMX degradation as well as dramatically reduced the formation potentials for haloketones, haloacetonitriles and halonitromethanes. This study suggests that proper optimization of UV/PMS processes can remove SMX and reduce its DBP formation.

Spatiotemporal Prediction of Urban Traffics Based on Deep GNN

Traffic prediction already plays a significant role in applications like traffic planning and urban management,but it is still difficult to capture the highly non-linear and complicated spatiotemporal correlations of traffic *** well as to fulfil both long-termand short-termprediction objectives,a better representation of the temporal dependency and global spatial correlation of traffic data is *** order to do this,the Spatiotemporal Graph Neural Network(S-GNN)is proposed in this research as amethod for traffic *** S-GNN simultaneously accepts various traffic data as inputs and investigates the non-linear correlations between the *** terms of modelling,the road network is initially represented as a spatiotemporal directed graph,with the features of the samples at the time step being captured by a convolution *** order to assign varying attention weights to various adjacent area nodes of the target node,the adjacent areas information of nodes in the road network is then aggregated using a graph *** data is output using a fully connected layer at the *** findings show that S-GNN can improve short-and long-term traffic prediction accuracy to a greater extent;in comparison to the control model,the RMSE of S-GNN is reduced by about 0.571 to 9.288 and the MAE(Mean Absolute Error)by about 0.314 to *** experimental results on two real datasets,Pe MSD7(M)and PEMS-BAY,also support this claim.

Triboelectric nanogenerator hybrid array driven by multiform natural energies and its applications in self-powered cathodic protection

In view of the increasing energy shortage and environmental pollution, the collection of friction charges to achieve the conversion of various natural energies and provide in-situ cathodic protection for metals is a significant challenge. Here, we designed a dual device-structure TENG composite array with the triboelectric layer of linear siloxane-modified polyurethane(PU) coating. This array could achieve a comprehensive collection for multiple forms of nature energy and cathodic protection of metals in multi-weather conditions. For one thing, the wave-mode TENG based on tanker structure could collect wave energy and showed the output performance with a short-circuit current of 15.5 μA. For another thing, the droplet-mode TENG based on arc-shaped surface structure could collect raindrop kinetic energy and showed the output performance with a short-circuit current of 16.3 μA. Notably, the parallel array of wave-mode TENG(W-TENG) and droplet-mode TENG(D-TENG) could simultaneously collect wave energy and raindrop kinetic energy, which showed a short-circuit current of 30.7 μA. Besides, a selfpowered a cathodic protection system powered by the dual structure TENG array is assembled and the open-circuit potential drop of the carbon steel connected with the TENG array is about 450 mV. Compared with cathodic protection system powered by single structure TENG, the composite array could provide more effective corrosion resistance for marine equipment in rainy weather. Due to the characteristic for comprehensive collection of nature energy, the anti-corrosion system supplied by TENG parallel array possesses great application potential in the all-weather corrosion protection of metal machinery under complex marine conditions.

Effect of solvent on the initiation mechanism of living anionic polymerization of styrene:A computational study

For living anionic polymerization(LAP),solvent has a great influence on both reaction mechanism and *** this work,by using the classical butyl lithium-styrene polymerization as a model system,the effect of solvent on the mechanism and kinetics of LAP was revealed through a strategy combining density functional theory(DFT)calculations and kinetic *** terms of mechanism,it is found that the stronger the solvent polarity,the more electrons transfer from initiator to solvent through detailed energy decomposition analysis of electrostatic interactions between initiator and solvent ***,we also found that the stronger the solvent polarity,the higher the monomer initiation energy barrier and the smaller the initiation rate ***,initiation is more favorable at lower temperatures based on the calculated results ofΔG_(TS).Finally,the kinetic characteristics in different solvents were further examined by kinetic *** is found that in benzene and n-pentane,the polymerization rate exhibits first-order ***,slow initiation and fast propagation were observed in tetrahydrofuran(THF)due to the slow free ion formation rate,leading to a deviation from first-order kinetics.

Remarkable N_(2)-selectivity enhancement of NH_(3)-SCR over HPMo modified MnCo-BTC@SiO_(2) catalyst

In this work,the phosphomolybdate(HPMo)modification strategy was applied to improve the N_(2) selectivity of Mn Co-BTC@SiO_(2)catalyst for the selective catalytic reduction of NO_(x),and further,the mechanism of HPMo modification on enhanced catalytic performance was *** Mn Co-BTC@SiO_(2-x) catalysts with different HPMo concentrations,Mn CoBTC@SiO_(2)-0.75 catalyst exhibited not only the highest NH_(3)-SCR performance(95% at 200-300℃)but also the best N_(2)selectivity(exceed 80% at 100-300℃)due to the appropriate redox capacity,greater surface acidity.X-ray photoelectron spectrometer(XPS)and temperature programmed reduction of H_(2)(H_(2)-TPR)results showed that the modification with HPMo reduced the oxidation-reduction performance of the catalyst due to electron transfer from Mo^(5+)to Mn^(4+)/Mn^(3+)and prevent the excessive oxidation of ammonia adsorption ***_(3)temperature-programmed desorption of(NH_(3)-TPD)results showed that the modification with HPMo could significantly improve the surface acidity and NH_(3)adsorption,which enhance the catalytic activity and N_(2)***-situ diffused reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(in-situ DRIFTS)revealed that modification with HPMo increased significantly the amount of adsorbed NH_(3)species on the Bronsted acid site and C_(B)/C_(L),it suppressed the production of N_(2)O by inhibiting the production of NH species,the deep dehydrogenation of ammonia adsorption *** study provided a simple design strategy for the catalyst to improve the low-temperature catalytic performance and N_(2)selectivity.

Evapotranspiration is an important parameter used to characterize the water cycle of *** under-stand the properties of the evapotranspiration and energy balance of a subalpine forest in the southeastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,an open-path eddy covariance system was set up to monitor the forest from November 2020 to October 2021 in a core area of the Three Parallel Rivers in the Qing-hai-Tibet *** results show that the evapotranspira-tion peaked daily,the maximum occurring between 11:00 and 15:*** factors had significant effects on evapotranspiration,among them,net radiation the greatest(R^(2)=0.487),and relative humidity the least(R^(2)=0.001).The energy flux varied considerably in different seasons and sensible heat flux accounted for the main part of turbulent *** energy balance ratio in the dormant season was less than that in the growing season,and there is an energy imbalance at the site on an annual time scale.

In this paper,we propose a doping approach to lower the error floor of Low-Density Parity-Check(LDPC)*** doping component is a short block code in which the information bits are selected from the coded bits of the dominant trapping sets of the LDPC ***,an algorithm for selecting the information bits of the short code is proposed,and a specific two-stage decoding algorithm is *** results demonstrate that the proposed doped LDPC code achieves up to 2.0 dB gain compared with the original LDPC code at a frame error rate of 10^(-6)Furthermore,the proposed design can lower the error floor of original LDPC Codes.

Identifying malicious traffic under concept drift based on intraclass consistency enhanced variational autoencoder

Accurate identification of malicious traffic is crucial for implementing effective defense countermeasures and has led to extensive research efforts. However, the continuously evolving techniques employed by adversaries have introduced the issues of concept drift, which significantly affects the performance of existing methods. To tackle this challenge, some researchers have focused on improving the separability of malicious traffic representation and designing drift detectors to reduce the number of false ***, these methods often overlook the importance of enhancing the generalization and intraclass consistency in the representation. Additionally, the detectors are not sufficiently sensitive to the variations among different malicious traffic classes, which results in poor performance and limited robustness. In this paper, we propose intraclass consistency enhanced variational autoencoder with Class-Perception detector(ICE-CP) to identify malicious traffic under concept drift. It comprises two key modules during training:intraclass consistency enhanced(ICE) representation learning and Class-Perception(CP) detector construction. In the first module, we employ a variational autoencoder(VAE) in conjunction with Kullback-Leibler(KL)-divergence and cross-entropy loss to model the distribution of each input malicious traffic flow. This approach simultaneously enhances the generalization, interclass consistency, and intraclass differences in the learned representation. Consequently, we obtain a compact representation and a trained classifier for nondrifting malicious traffic. In the second module, we design the CP detector, which generates a centroid and threshold for each malicious traffic class separately based on the learned representation, depicting the boundaries between drifting and non-drifting malicious traffic. During testing, we utilize the trained classifier to predict malicious traffic classes for the testing samples. Then, we use the CP det
