ZIF-8 modified by isocyanate as a photocatalytic antibacterial agent

Zeolite imidazole skeleton（ZIF-8） is a promising option for self-cleaning of building exterior walls due to its large specific surface area,high antibacterial activity and low biotoxicity.However,it suffers from low antibacterial efficiency and yield under visible light irradiation.To address the issues,we developed the photocatalytic materials T-ZIF-8-TDI（thermally treated-ZIF-8-toluene 2,4-diisocyanate） by modifying ZIF-8 with thermal oxygen sensitization and chemical bonding.The results show that the yield of T-ZIF-8-TDI photocatalytic antibacterial agent is increased to 11.5 times of that of T-ZIF-8,while maintaining the crystal structure of T-ZIF-8 and thermal stability up to 60℃.Furthermore,T-ZIF-8-TDI exhibits extended optical response range to the nearinfrared region,significantly narrowed band gap,improved photogenerated elec tron-hole separation efficiency,reduced recombination rate,and excellent photocatalytic performance.When the concentration of antibacterial agent is 600 mg·L-1,the antibacterial rate of Escherichia coli（E.coli） reaches 99.99% irradiated by visible light for30 min,and when the concentration of antibacterial agent is 200 mg·L-1,the antibacterial rate of Staphylococcus aureus（S.aureus） reaches 99.99% irradiated by visible light for 25 min.We also analyzed the reasons in detail from the aspects of bacterial species and antibacterial mechanism,and proposed the antibacterial mechanism of·O2-and h+as the main active species.These findings suggest that T-ZIF-8-TDI photocatalytic antibacterial agent has potential for use in self-cleaning of building exterior walls.

Bacteria-responsive programmed self-activating antibacterial hydrogel to remodel regeneration microenvironment for infected wound healing

There is still an urgent need to develop hydrogels with intelligent antibacterial ability to achieve on-demand treatment of infected wounds and accelerate wound healing by improving the regeneration microenvironment. We proposed a strategy of hydrogel wound dressing with bacteria-responsive self-activating antibacterial property and multiple nanozyme activities to remodel the regeneration microenvironment in order to significantly promote infected wound healing. Specifically, p H-responsive H2O2self-supplying composite nanozyme（MSCO） and p H/enzyme-sensitive bacteria-responsive triblock micelles encapsulated with lactate oxidase（PPEL） were prepared and encapsulated in hydrogels composed of L-arginine-modified chitosan（CA） and phenylboronic acid-modified oxidized dextran（ODP） to form a cascade bacteria-responsive self-activating antibacterial composite hydrogel platform. The hydrogels respond to multifactorial changes of the bacterial metabolic microenvironment to achieve on-demand antibacterial and biofilm eradication through transformation of bacterial metabolites, and chemodynamic therapy enhanced by nanozyme activity in conjunction with self-driven nitric oxide（NO） release. The composite hydrogel showed 'self-diagnostic' treatment for changes in the wound microenvironment.Through self-activating antibacterial therapy in the infection stage to self-adaptive oxidative stress relief and angiogenesis in the post-infection stage, it promotes wound closure, accelerates wound collagen deposition and angiogenesis, and completely improves the microenvironment of infected wound regeneration, which provides a new method for the design of intelligent wound dressings.

Slow magnetic relaxation and photoluminescence behaviors of dilanthanide complexes bearing N8O2 donor macrocyclic ligand

On account of the complicated magnetic exchange interactions between lanthanide ions,binuclear lanthanide complexes have broad application prospect in the field of single-molecule magnets.Therefore,it is necessary to develop reasonable bridging ligands to manipulate the directional assembly of binuclear lanthanide complexes.Herein,we selected the macrocyclic ligand LN8O2to build up two new dilanthanide complexes [Ln2(LN8O2)（OpyO）2（H2O）2]（NO3）2(1-Ln,Ln=Dy,Tb;LN8O2=hexamethyl-tetraaza-dioxe-dipyrazolacycloicosaphane-2,9,12,19-tetraene;OpyOH=2-pyridinol-1-oxide).Dynamic magnetic studies show that 1-Dy exhibits slow relaxation behavior under a 1 kOe applied field.Further fitting analysis of relaxation times gives the effective energy barrier of 38.2 cm-1,and reveals that the slow magnetic relaxation behavior is dominated by the Orbach and Raman processes.High-resolution luminescence emission spectrum indicates the energy gap of 36.8 cm-1 between the ground state and the first excited state,consistent with the magnetic measurement results.1-Tb exhibits brilliant characteristic green light emission under UV light excitation.The absolute quantum yield of 1-Tb is 44.8%,and its first-order fitted decay lifetime is 779.21 μs at room temperature.This study provides the way for directional construction of high-performance molecular materials with magnetic and optical dualfunction.

Oxygenated organic molecules(OOMs)play an important role in the formation of secondary organic aerosols(SOAs),but the mixing states of OOMs are still unclear.This study investigates the mixing states of OOM-containing single particles from the measurements taken using a single particle aerosol mass spectrometer in Guangzhou,China in 2022.Generally,the particle counts of OOM particles and the mass concentration of secondary organic carbon(SOC)exhibited similar temporal trends throughout the entire year.The OOM particles were consistently enriched in secondary ions,including 16O−,26CN−,46NO2−,62NO3−,and 97HSO4−.In contrast,the number fractions and diurnal patterns of OOM particles among the total detected particles showed similar distributions in August and October;however,the SOC ratios in fine particulate matter were quite different,suggesting that there were different mixing states of single-particle oxygenated organics.In addition,further classification results indicated that the OOM particles were more aged in October than August,even though the SOC ratios were higher in August.Furthermore,the distribution of hydrocarbon fragments exhibited a notable decrease from January to October,emphasizing the more aged state of the organics in October.In addition,the sharp increase in elemental carbon(EC)-OOM particles in the afternoon in October suggests the potential role of EC in the aging process of organics.Overall,in contrast to the bulk analysis of SOC mass concentration,the mixing states of the OOM particles provide insights into the formation process of SOAs in field studies.

Global Weak Solutions to a Fluid-particle System of an Incompressible Non-Newtonian Fluid and the Vlasov Equation

The purpose of this work is to investigate the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions to the initial-boundary-value problem for a coupled system of an incompressible non-Newtonian fluid and the Vlasov equation. The coupling arises from the acceleration in the Vlasov equation and the drag force in the incompressible viscous non-Newtonian fluid with the stress tensor of a power-law structure for p≥11/5. The main idea of the existence analysis is to reformulate the coupled system by means of a so-∫called truncation function. The advantage of the new formulation is to control the external force term G =-∫Rd(u-v)fdv(d = 2, 3). The global existence of weak solutions to the reformulated system is shown by using the Faedo-Galerkin method and weak compactness techniques. We further prove the uniqueness of weak solutions to the considered system.

Cardiac remodeling in patients with atrial fibrillation reversing bradycardia-induced cardiomyopathy:A case report

BACKGROUND Bradycardia-induced cardiomyopathy(BIC),which is a disease resulting from bradycardia,is characterized by cardiac chamber enlargement and diminished cardiac function.The correction of bradycardia can allow for significant improvements in both cardiac function and structure;however,this disease has been infrequently documented.In this case,we conducted a longitudinal followup of a patient who had been enduring BIC for more than 40 years to heighten awareness and prompt timely diagnosis and rational intervention.CASE SUMMARY A woman who presented with postactivity fatigue and dyspnea was diagnosed with bradycardia at the age of 7.Since she had no obvious symptoms,she did not receive any treatment to improve her bradycardia during the 42-year follow-up,except for the implantation of a temporary pacemaker during labor induction surgery.As time progressed,the patient's heart gradually expanded due to her low ventricular rate,and she was diagnosed with BIC.In 2014,the patient developed atrial fibrillation,her ventricular rate gradually increased,and her heart shape gradually returned to normal.This report describes the cardiac morphological changes caused by the heart rate changes in BIC patients older than 40 years,introduces another possible outcome of BIC,and emphasizes the importance of early intervention in treating BIC.CONCLUSION BIC can induce atrial fibrillation,causing an increased ventricular rate and leading to positive cardiac remodeling.

Petrogenesis and tectonic implications of the Silurian adakitic granitoids in the eastern segment of the Qilian Orogenic Belt,Northwest China

Geodynamic mechanism responsible for the generation of Silurian granitoids and the tectonic evolution of the Qilian orogenic belt remains controversial. In this study, we report the results of zircon U–Pb age, and systematic whole-rock geochemical data for the Haoquangou and Liujiaxia granitoids within the North Qilian orogenic belt and the Qilian Block, respectively, to constrain their petrogenesis, and the Silurian tectonic evolution of the Qilian orogenic belt. Zircon U–Pb ages indicate that the Haoquangou and Liujiaxia intrusions were emplaced at423 ± 3 Ma and 432 ± 4 Ma, respectively. The Haoquangou granodiorites are calc-alkaline, while the Liujiaxia granites belong to the high-K calc-alkaline series.Both are peraluminous in composition and have relatively depleted Nd isotopic [ε_(Nd)(t) =(-3.9 – + 0.6)] characteristics compared with regional basement rocks, implying their derivation from a juvenile lower crust. They show adakitic geochemical characteristics and were generated by partial melting of thickened lower continental crust. Postcollisional extensional regime related to lithospheric delamination was the most likely geodynamic mechanism for the generation of the Haoquangou granodiorite, while the Liujiaxia granites were generated in a compressive setting during continental collision between the Qaidam and Qilian blocks.

Human herpesvirus 7 meningitis in an adolescent with normal immune function:A case report

BACKGROUND Human herpesvirus type 7(HHV-7)is a less common herpes virus that usually causes mild,self-limiting illnesses.However,in recent years,there have been increasing reports of HHV-7 causing serious central nervous system infections,especially meningitis.The pathogenesis and clinical features of HHV-7 meningitis,particularly in adolescents with normal immune function,remain incompletely studied.Therefore,the purpose of this report is to share a case of HHV-7 meningitis in an immunocompetent adolescent with a view to deepening our understanding of the disease.CASE SUMMARY A 12-year-old female was admitted with fever,headache,and vomiting.4 d before admission,the patient developed a fever without obvious induction,with a temperature up to 39.5℃,no convulsions,accompanied by chills,headaches,fatigue,and no muscle aches.The patient was treated with fever reduction,which could be reduced to 38℃;repeated high fever,accompanied by vomiting 7-8 times;and no abdominal pain or diarrhea.The patient was diagnosed with"acute suppurative tonsillitis"in a local hospital,and the blood routine was generally normal.The patient was given symptomatic support treatment such as"ceftriaxone sodium"and antiemetic rehydration for 2 d,and his condition did not improve.The patient's physical examination showed pharyngeal congestion,bilateral tonsil grade I hypertrophy,regression of purulent secretions,and cervical resistance.Ocular B-ultrasound:Opacity of the vitreous body and edema of the optic disc in both eyes.Optical coherence tomography examination showed that the macular fovea was generally normal in both eyes,with edema of the optic disc.DNA virus monitoring results:HHV-7.We gave ganciclovir antiviral therapy,dexamethasone anti-inflammatory treatment,mannitol to reduce cranial pressure,omeprazole to protect gastrointestinal mucosa,and calcium and potassium supplementation.CONCLUSION This study reports a case of HHV-7 meningitis in an adolescent with normal immune function.Through comprehensive analysis of the clinical manifest

Direct ink writing of multifunctional gratings with gel-like MXene/norepinephrine ink for dynamic electromagnetic interference shielding and patterned Joule heating

Intelligent electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding modulators with a wide tuning range and cyclic stability are urgently needed but their fabrication remains challenging.A gel-like MXene/norepinephrine ink is developed and multifunctional MXene gratings with wide EMI shielding effectiveness(SE)tuning range,superior reversibility,and high mechanical flexibility are constructed by direct ink writing approach for dynamic EMI shielding and patterned Joule heating applications.The modulable MXene/norepinephrine grating with a high conductivity of 3510 S·cm-1 can conveniently realize the seamless modulation of the EMI SE by adjusting the angle between the MXene grating filaments and the electric field of the incident electromagnetic waves,offering highly reversible switching between shielding“On”(28.0 dB)and“Off”(0.5 dB)states.Notably,due to the optimized integration of the MXene ink and the rationally designed pattern,a superior specific EMI SE of 95,688.2 dB·cm^(2)·g^(-1) is achieved in the“On”state.Furthermore,the MXene/norepinephrine ink can be used to fabricate many complex patterned gratings with superior stability,instant responsibility,and superb mechanical flexibility,exhibiting a unique patterned Joule heating behavior.Direct writing of multifunctional gratings paves a means for developing intelligent EMI shielding materials,wearable electronic devices,and advanced thermal management materials.

BACKGROUND Crohn’s disease(CD)is often misdiagnosed as intestinal tuberculosis(ITB).However,the treatment and prognosis of these two diseases are dramatically different.Therefore,it is important to develop a method to identify CD and ITB with high accuracy,specificity,and speed.AIM To develop a method to identify CD and ITB with high accuracy,specificity,and speed.METHODS A total of 72 paraffin wax-embedded tissue sections were pathologically and clinically diagnosed as CD or ITB.Paraffin wax-embedded tissue sections were attached to a metal coating and measured using attenuated total reflectance fourier transform infrared spectroscopy at mid-infrared wavelengths combined with XGBoost for differential diagnosis.RESULTS The results showed that the paraffin wax-embedded specimens of CD and ITB were significantly different in their spectral signals at 1074 cm^(-1) and 1234 cm^(-1) bands,and the differential diagnosis model based on spectral characteristics combined with machine learning showed accuracy,specificity,and sensitivity of 91.84%,92.59%,and 90.90%,respectively,for the differential diagnosis of CD and ITB.CONCLUSION Information on the mid-infrared region can reveal the different histological components of CD and ITB at the molecular level,and spectral analysis combined with machine learning to establish a diagnostic model is expected to become a new method for the differential diagnosis of CD and ITB.
