Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N 1 epidemics are a significant public health hazard. Genetically engineered H5N 1 viruses with mammalian transmission activity highlight the potential risk of a human influenza H5N 1 pandemic. Understanding the underlying principles of the innate immune system in response to influenza H5N 1 viruses will lead to improved prevention and control of these potentially deadly viruses, γδT cells act as the first line of defense against microbial infection and help initiate adaptive immune responses during the early stages of viral infection. In this study, we investigated the molecular mechanisms of γδ T cells in response to influenza H5N1 viral infection, We found that recombinant hemagglutinin （rHA） derived from three different strains of influenza H5N 1 viruses elicited the activation of γδ T cells cultured in peripheral blood mononuclear cells （PBMCs）. Both the cell surface expression of CD69, an early activation marker on γδ T cells, and the production of interferon-y （IFN-y） were significantly increased. Notably, the rHA protein-induced γδ T-cell activation was not mediated by TCRγδ, NKG2D or pattern recognition receptors （PRRs） or NKp46 receptors. The interaction of rHA proteins with sialic acid receptors may play a critical role in γδ T-cell activation. Our data may provide insight into the mechanisms underlyingγδT-cell activation in response to infection with H5N1 viruses.

This paper deals with an improved bonding approach of surface-bonded fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors for airship envelope structural health monitoring (SHM) under the strain transfer theory. A theoretical formula is derived from the proposed model to predict the strain transfer relationship between the airship envelope and fiber core. Then theoretical predictions are validated by numerical analysis using the finite element method (FEM). Finally, on the basis of the theoretical approach and numerical validation, parameters that influence the strain transfer rate from the airship envelope to fiber core and the ratio of effective sensing length are analyzed, and some meaningful conclusions are provided.

l-Cysteine plays a prominent role in sulfur metabo- lism of plants. However, its role in root development is largely unknown. Here, we report that l-cysteine reduces primary root growth in a dosage-dependent manner. Elevating cellular l-cysteine level by exposing Arabidopsis thaliana seedlings to high l-cysteine, buthionine sulphoximine, or O-acetylserine leads to altered auxin maximum in root tips, the expression of quiescent center cell marker as well as the decrease of the auxin carriers PIN1, PIN2, PIN3, and PIN7 of primary roots. We also show that high l-cysteine significantly reduces the protein level of two sets of stem cell specific transcription factors PlETHORA1/2 and SCR/SHR. However, l-cysteine does not downregulate the transcript level of PiNs, PlTs, or SCR/SHR, suggesting that an uncharacterized post-transcriptional mechanism may regulate the accumulation of PIN, PlT, and SCR/SHR proteins and auxin transport in the root tips. These results suggest that endogenous l-cysteine level acts to maintain root stem cell niche by regulating basal- and auxin-induced expression of PlT1/2 and 5CR/SHR. l-Cysteine may serve as a link between sulfate assimilation and auxin in regulating root growth.

Animals deploy diverse color-based defenses against predators,including crypsis,mimicry,aposematism,and *** crypsis,mimicry,aposematism have been extensively studied,the strategy of masquerade-where organisms imitate inedible or inanimate objects such as leaves,twigs,stones,and bird droppings-remains comparatively underexplored,particularly in adult *** Indian oakleaf butterfly(Kallima inachus)exemplifies this phenomenon,with its wings resembling dead leaves,providing a classic example of natural *** it has long been postulated that these butterflies evade predation by being misidentified as dead leaves,direct experimental evidence is *** the current study,using domestic chicks as predators,we manipulated their prior experience with dead leaves(model objects)while maintaining constant exposure to butterflies to test whether dead-leaf masquerade provides a protective advantage by preventing *** showed a marked delay in the initiation of attacks by chicks familiar with dead leaves compared to those with no prior exposure or those exposed to visually altered *** with prior dead-leaf experience required a similar amount of time to attack the butterflies as they did to attack dead *** findings provide the first empirical demonstration of dead-leaf masquerade in Kallima butterflies,shedding light on its evolutionary *** study highlights the effectiveness of masquerade in inducing the misclassification of butterflies as inanimate objects,showcasing the precise mimicry achieved by these organisms when viewed in isolation from the model *** study advances our understanding of the evolution of masquerade and its role as a potent antipredator strategy in nature.

The glucose-inhibited neurons present in the lateral hypothalamic area are regarded as glucose detectors. This structure is involved in the regulation of food intake through extracellular blood glucose concentrations, and plays a crucial role in obesity onset. In the present study, obesity models established with high fat feeding were treated with electroacupuncture at Zusanli （ST36）/ tnner Court （ST44） on the left side and Tianshu （ST25） bilaterally. We found that electroacupuncture could effectively reduce body weight and the fat-weight ratio, and decrease serum leptin, resistin, tumor necrosis factor alpha, and neuropeptide Y levels, while increase serum adiponectin and cholecystokinin-8 levels. This treatment altered the electrical activity of glucose-inhibited neurons in the lateral hypothalamic area, with electroacupuncture at Zusanli/Inner Court exerting an inhibitory effect, while electroacupuncture at bilateral Tianshu exerting an excitatory effect. These data suggest that electroacupuncture at the lower limbs and abdominal cavity is an effective means for regulating the activity of glucose-inhibited neurons in the lateral hypothalamic area and for improving the secretory function of adipose tissue.

Re-Os and U-Pb Geochronology of the Erlihe Pb-Zn Deposit,Qinling Orogenic Belt,Central China,and Constraints on Its Deposit Genesis

The Erlihe Pb-Zn deposit is an important mine of the Pb-Zn metallogenic zone in the South Qinling *** has been considered a sedimentary exhalative deposit in previous investigations because the ore body occurs concordantly at the transitional location of an upright *** and Os isotopic analyses for paragenetic pyrites with sphalerite and galena from the ore body have been used to determine the timing of mineralization and to trace the source of metallogenic *** Re-Os isotopic data of four pyrite samples construct an isochron,yielding a weighted average age of 226±17 Ma（mean square weighted deviation=1.7）,which is considered the main mineralization age.A dioritic porphyrite vein sample,showing weaker mineralization,was also dated using the SHRIMP zircon UPb isotopic method to constrain the youngest metallogenic age of the ore deposit,because it distributes along a group of tensional joints cutting not only the upright fold in the deposit field,but also the main ore *** dioritic porphyrite sample yields a weighted mean ^（206）Pb/^（238）U age of 221±3 Ma,which is slightly younger than the Re-Os isotopic isochron age of the pyrites,considered as the upper age limit of the mineralization,namely the ending age of the *** Os isotopic compositions of sulfide minerals distribute within a range between Os isotopic compositions of the crust and the mantle, indicating that the ore deposit can be derived from magma-related fluid,and the metallogenic materials are most likely derived from the mixing source of the crust and the *** Erlihe Pb-Zn deposit and associated dioritic porphyrite vein,important records of Qinling tectonic-magmatism-mineralization activities,were formed during the Triassic collisional orogeny processes.

The extra-large scale multiple-input multiple-output(Xl-MIMO)for the beyond fifth/sixth generation mobile communications is a promising technology to provide Tbps data transmission and stable access ***,the extremely large antenna array aperture arouses the channel near-field effect,resulting in the deteriorated data rate and other challenges in the practice communication ***,multi-panel MIMO technology has attracted extensive attention due to its flexible configuration,low hardware cost,and wider *** combining the Xl-MIMO and multi-panel array structure,we construct multi-panel Xl-MIMO and apply it to massive Internet of Things(IoT)***,we model the multi-panel Xl-MIMO-based near-field channels for massive IoT access scenarios,where the electromagnetic waves corresponding to different panels have different angles of arrival/departure(AoAs/AoDs).Then,by exploiting the sparsity of the near-field massive IoT access channels,we formulate a compressed sensing based joint active user detection(AUD)and channel estimation(CE)problem which is solved by AMP-EM-MMV *** simulation results exhibit the superiority of the AMP-EM-MMV based joint AUD and CE scheme over the baseline algorithms.

Achieving versatile room temperature phosphorescence(RTP)materials,especially with tunable mechanical properties and shape memory is attractive and essential but rarely ***,a strategy was reported to realize multi-functional RTP films with multicolor fluorescence,ultralong afterglow,adjustable mechanical properties,and shape memory through the synergistic dynamic interaction of lanthanide(ln~Ⅲ)-terpyridine coordination,borate ester bonds,and hydrogen bondings in a poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA)*** varying the amount of borax,the mechanical properties of the films could be finely controlled due to the change of crosslinking degree of dynamic borate ester bonds in *** assembly and disassembly of borate ester bonds upon the trigger of borax and acid were applied as reversible linkage to achieve programmable shape memory *** addition,the films displayed both fascinating multicolor fluorescence and ultralong afterglow characteristics due to the presence of ln III doping and confinement of terpyridine in *** study provides a new avenue to impart modulable mechanical strength and shape memory to RTP materials.

In the present study, we reconstructed upper airway and soft palate models of 3 obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome（OSAHS） patients with nasal obstruction. The airflow distribution and movement of the soft palate before and after surgery were described by a numerical simulation method. The curative effect of nasal surgery was evaluated for the three patients with OSAHS. The degree of nasal obstruction in the 3 patients was improved after surgery. For 2 patients with mild OSAHS, the upper airway resistance and soft palate displacement were reduced after surgery. These changes contributed to the mitigation of respiratory airflow limitation. For the patient with severe OSAHS, the upper airway resistance and soft palate displacement increased after surgery, which aggravated the airway obstruction. The effcacy of nasal surgery for patients with OSAHS is determined by the degree of improvement in nasal obstruction and whether the effects on the pharynx are beneficial. Numerical simulation results are consistent with the polysomnogram（PSG） test results, chief complaints, and clinical findings, and can indirectly reflect the degree of nasal patency and improvement of snoring symptoms, and further,provide a theoretical basis to solve relevant clinical problems.
