Sedimentary Facies Architectures of Third-Order Sequences from Early to Middle Triassic in Nanpanjiang Basin

There are complex and regular changes on sedimentary facies from the Early to the Middle Triassic in the Nanpanjiang basin. After the obvious drowned event of carbonate platforms in the transitional period between Permian and Triassic, carbonate platforms have evolved into the ramp type from the rimmed shelf type. The differentiation of sedimentary facies becomes clearer in space, which are marked by the changes from an attached platform to a turbidity basin and several isolated platforms in the basin. The striking characteristics are the development of oolitic banks on isolated platforms in Nanning and Jingxi and the reef and bank limestones in the margin of the attached platform in the Early Triassic. Despite the difference of the time span and the architecture of facies succession of third order sedimentary sequences, the process of the third order relative sea level changes reflected by the sedimentary facies succession of the third order sequences is generally synchronous. Therefore, six third order sequences could be discerned in the strata from the Early to the Middle Triassic in the Nanpanjiang basin. Using two types of facies changing surfaces and two types of diachronisms in stratigraphic records as the key elements, the sedimentary facies architectures of the third order sequences that represent sequence stratigraphic frameworks from the Early to the Middle Triassic in the Nanpanjiang basin could be constructed.

High Throughput SNP Genotyping with Two Mini-sequencing Assays

Two mini-sequencing methods, FP-TDI (template-directed dye-terminator incorporation with fluorescence-polarization) and MassArray (matrix assisted laser desorption ionization time of flight detection mass spectrometry), were optimized. A numeric standard was introduced to evaluate the SNP scoring quality of FP-TDI assay, thus made the optimization work easier. At the same time, using multi-PCR technology, 8-plex genotyping of MassArray assay was successfully carried out, some softwares were developed and the data process of MassArray was highly automated. Then these two methods were applied to high throughput SNP genotyping, the accuracy, efficiency and robustness were compared. The result shows FP-TDI is more sensitive to the concentration of SNPprimer and PCR product, as well as extension cycles, the SNPprimer length of FP-TDI should be 24–30 bp long, whereas MassArray assay prefers to be as short as only 16 *** 6440 SNP sites of human chromosome 3 were genotyped in a sample of 90 individuals, 4792 sites by FP-TDI assay and 1648 sites by MassArray assay, the success rates of FP-TDI and MassArray were 67.7% and 93.6% respectively. The throughput of MassArray was higher than FP-TDI, and the cost of MassArray was lower, MassArray was more suitable for high throughput SNP genotyping.

A 1550-nm linearly tunable continuous wave single-mode external cavity diode laser based on a single-cavity all-dielectric thin-film Fabry Pérot filter

A 1550-nm linearly tunable continuous wave （CW） single-mode external cavity diode laser （ECDL） based on a singlecavity all-dielectric thin-film Fabry-Pérot filter （s-AFPF） is proposed and realized in this paper. Its internal optical components as well as their operation mechanisms are introduced first, and then its longitudinal mode output characteristic is theoretically analyzed. Afterwards, we set up the experimental platform for the output characteristic measurement of this tunable ECDL; under different experimental conditions, we execute accurate and real-time measurements for the output central wavelength, output optical power, output longitudinal mode distribution, and the line-width of the tunable ECDL in its tuning process. By summing up the optimal experimental condition from the measured data, we obtain the optimal tunable ECDL relevant parameters： the tunable ECDL has a linear mode-hop-free wavelength tuning region of 1547.203 nm-1552.426 nm, a stable output optical power in the range of 40 μW-50 μW, and a stable output longitudinal mode distribution of a single longitudinal mode with a line-width in the range of 100 MHz-150 MHz. This tunable ECDL can be used in environmental gas monitoring, atomic and molecular laser spectroscopy research, precise measurements, and so on.

SLC Method and Earthquakes' Clustering Features in Time-Space in the Top Area of the Kunlun-Altun-Arc

By using the SLC(Single-Link Cluster)method,this study worked in three respects:(a)set up three-dimensional(3-D)SLC software that can deal with a large catalogue of earthquakes and analyze the characteristics of earthquakes’ clustering and scattering in time-space:(b)defined several parameters to describe the distinguishing feature for the SLC frame and developed a technique to calculate the 3-D SLC frames and these parameters with gradual time-sliding,and inspected their variations with time,especially before large events; and(c)by using these means,treated the earthquake catalogue in the top area of the Kunlun-Altun-Arc as well as some valuable results that had been obtained.

Pancreatic encephalopathy in 24 patients with severe acute pancreatitis

BACKGROUND: Pancreatic encephalopathy (PE), an un- familiar complication of severe acute pancreatitis ( SAP) , is difficult to diagnose and treat, and it has a high mortality. The aim of this study was to investigate the manifestation, classification, mechanism and therapy of PE. METHODS: Of 132 patients with SAP treated at our hospi- tal from March 1994 to March 2004, 24 patients complicated by PE were analyzed retrospectively. RESULTS: The causes of SAP were mostly biliary and alco- holic. Twenty-four patients (18.2%) were complicated by PE within 3 hours-38 days ( average 6. 6 days) [ 21 (87. 5%) within 2 weeks, and 3(12.5%) after 2 weeks]. Eleven pa- tients were male and 13 female, with an average of 47 years (range 25-72 years). Excitement or restrain was the main manifestation. Nine patients (37.5%) received surgery and 15 (62.5%) conservative treatment, with a mortality of 11.1 % (1/9) and 66.7% (10/15), respectively. CONCLUSIONS: PE occurs 2 weeks after SAP and is part of multiple organ failure (MOF). Some patients have PE in the late stage of SAP because of lack of VitB1 and nutri- tion. But PE can be prevented by prescribing adequate nu- trition and VitB1 in the early stage of SAP.

The output characteristics of micro-solar cell arrays are analyzed on the basis of a modified model in which the shunt resistance between cell lines results in current *** modification mainly consists of adding a shunt resistor network to the traditional *** obtained results agree well with the reported experimental *** calculation results demonstrate that leakage current in substrate affects seriously the performance of GaAs micro-solar cell *** performance of arrays can be improved by reducing the number of cells per *** addition,at a certain level of integration,an appropriate space occupancy rate of the single cell is recommended for ensuring high open circuit voltages,and it is more appropriate to set the rates at 80%-90% through the calculation.

In this papert we construct unconstrained methods for the generalized nonlinearcomplementarity problem and variational inequalities. Properties of the correspon-dent unconstrained optimization problem are studied. We apply these methods tothe subproblems in trust region method, and study their interrelationships. Nu-merical results are also presented.

The correlation of northwest(NW) Pacific climate anomalies during summer with El Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) in the preceding winter strengthens in the mid-1970s and remains *** study investigates the hypothesis that the tropical Indian Ocean(TIO) response to ENSO is key to this interdecadal change,using a 21-member ensemble simulation with the Community Atmosphere Model,version 3(CAM3) forced by the observed history of sea surface temperature(SST) for *** the model hindcast,the TIO influence on the summer NW Pacific strengthens in the mid-1970s,and the strengthened TIO teleconnection coincides with an intensification of summer SST variability over the *** result is corroborated by the fact the model’s skills in simulating NW Pacific climate anomalies during summer increase after the 1970s shift. During late spring to early summer,E1 Nino-induced TIO warming decays rapidly for the epoch prior to the 1970s shift but grows and persists through summer for the epoch occurring after *** difference in the evolution of the TIO warming determines the strength of the TIO teleconnection to the NW Pacific in the subsequent *** antisymmetric wind pattern develops in spring across the equator over the TIO,and the associated northeasterly anomalies aid the summer warming over the north Indian Ocean by opposing the prevailing southwest *** the model,this antisymmetric spring wind pattern is well developed after but absent before the 1970s shift.

Interactive effect of dissolved organic matter and phenanthrene on soil enzymatic activities

The investigation of dissolved organic matter （DOM） on urease, catalase and polyphenol oxidase activity in a phenanthrene （Phe）- contaminated soil was conducted under laboratory incubation conditions. Values of soil enzymatic activity depended mainly on incubation time. In the initial 16 days, urease activity increased, and was followed by a decrease. In the initial 8 days, catalase activity decreased and then increased. Variation of polyphenol oxidase activity was just the reverse of catalase activity. After 30 days of incubation, no pronounced difference among treatments with Phe, Phe and DOM, and control were detected in urease, catalase and polyphenol oxidase activity. Phe might inhibit urease and catalase, and stimulate polyphenol oxidase. DOM could improve inhibition of Phe in soil urease and catalase activity during the initial period of applying DOM. Nevertheless, DOM had no significant effect on polyphenol oxidase activity in the Phe contaminated soil. There was a negative correlation between catalase and polyphenol oxidase （r = -0.761＊＊＊）, and catalase and urease （r = -0.554＊＊）. Additionally, a positive correlation between polyphenol oxidase and urease was also detected （r = 0.701＊＊＊）. It is implied that the formed DOM after application of organic wastes into soils may counteract the inhibition of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in soil enzyme activities.

The crystal structure of the title complex salt has been determined by single-crystal X-ray structure analysis. The crystal data are as follows; Monoclinic, P21/c, a=15.6480(10)A,b=16.7870(10)A, c=10.347(2)A, β=90.790(10), V=2717.7(6)A3, Z=3, and R=0.0333 for 4789 unique reflections. The complex anion has a pseudo-octahedral structure distorted more than the CrⅢand CoⅢ analogs, in which cach iminodiacetato ligand (ida2-) is coordinated in a facial fashion with the two N atoms in a cis configuration, resulting in an unsyin-fac structure.
