The Mn/Yb/Er triple-doped CeO_(2) nanozyme with enhanced oxidase-like activity for highly sensitive ratiometric detection of nitrite

Long-term excessive intake of nitrite(NO_(2)^(-))poses a great threat to human health,needing a simple and fast method to detect NO_(2)-in food.Herein,via a simple and feasible strategy,Mn/Yb/Er triple-doped CeO_(2) nanozyme(Mn/Yb/Er/CeO_(2))was synthesized for highly sensitive ratiometric detection of nitrite.By doping Mn,Yb,Er into CeO_(2) lattice structure,Mn/Yb/Er/CeO_(2) nanozyme showed enhanced oxidase-like activity,obtaining a higher density of oxygen vacancy and a higher ratio of Ce^(3+)to Ce~(4+)than that of CeO_(2).The 3,3,5,5-tetramethylbenzidine(TMB)can be effectively oxidized by Mn/Yb/Er/CeO_(2) to produce the oxidized TMB(ox TMB),showing a significant absorption signal at 652 nm.Additionally,nitrite can react with ox TMB to produce yellow diazotized ox TMB,which is accompanied by an elevated absorption signal at 445 nm and a decreased absorption signal at 652 nm.Thus,based on the oxidase-mimetic activity of Mn/Yb/Er/CeO_(2) and the diazotization reaction between NO_(2)^(-)and ox TMB,a ratiometric colorimetric assay was established for NO_(2)^(-)detection in food.Furthermore,by integrating Mn/Yb/Er/CeO_(2) with a smartphone,a colorimetric smartphone-sensing platform was successfully fabricated for visualization and quantitative detection of NO_(2)^(-).Notably,this two-detection mode showed excellent sensitivity,selectivity,reliability and practicability in monitoring the NO_(2)^(-)in real samples,impling its great potential for food safety.

Data centers,the engines of the global Internet,rely on powerful high-speed optical interconnects.In optical fiber communication,classic direct detection captures only the intensity of the optical field,while the coherent detection counterpart utilizes both phase and polarization diversities at the expense of requiring a narrow-linewidth and high-stability local oscillator(LO).Herein,we propose and demonstrate a four-dimensional Jones-space optical field recovery(4-D JSFR)scheme without an LO.The polarization-diverse full-field receiver structure captures information encoded in the intensity and phase of both polarizations,which can be subsequently extracted digitally.To our knowledge,our proposed receiver achieves the highest electrical spectral efficiency among existing direct detection systems and potentially provides similar electrical spectral efficiency as standard intradyne coherent detection systems.The fully recovered optical field extends the transmission distance beyond the limitations imposed by fiber chromatic dispersion.Moreover,the LO-free advantage makes 4-D JSFR suitable for photonic integration,offering a spectrally efficient and cost-effective solution for massively parallel data center interconnects.Our results may contribute to the ongoing developments in the theory of optical field recovery and the potential design considerations for future high-speed optical transceivers.

Accurate and sensitive strategies for Concanavalin A(Con A)sensing are conducive to the better cognition of various important biological and physiological processes.Here,by designing dextran-functionalized fluorescent microspheres(DxFMs)and boric acid-modified carbon dots(BCDs)as recognition unit and built-in signal reference respectively,a ratiometric fluorescent detection platform was proposed for Con A detection with high reliability.In this protocol,the BCDs/DxFMs precipitation was formed due to the covalent interactions between cis-diol of DxFMs and boronic acid groups of BCDs,thus only fluorescence of BCDs could be detected in the supernatant.When Con A was presented,it could bind to DxFMs through its carbohydrate recognition ability and suppress the subsequent assembly between DxFMs and BCDs,leading to the simultaneous capture of DxFMs and BCDs fluorescence in the supernatant.Since the BCDs content was superfluous,their fluorescence intensities were basically constant in all cases.Based on the unchanged BCDs fluorescence signal and target-dependent DxFMs fluorescence signal in supernatant,the ratiometric detection of Con A was realized.Under optimized conditions,this ratiometric fluorescent platform displayed a linear detection range from 0.125μg/mL to 12.5μg/mL with a detection limit of 0.089μg/mL.Moreover,satisfied analytical outcomes for Con A detection in serum samples were obtained,manifesting huge application potential of this ratiometric fluorescent platform in clinical diagnosis.

Secure distribution of high-speed digital encryption/decryption keys over a classical fiber channel is strongly pursued for realizing perfect secrecy communication systems.However,it is still challenging to achieve a secret key rate in the order of tens of gigabits per second to be comparable with the bit rate of commercial fiber-optic systems.In this paper,we propose and experimentally demonstrate a novel solution for high-speed secure key distribution based on temporal steganography and private chaotic phase scrambling in the classical physical layer.The encryption key is temporally concealed into the background noise in the time domain and randomly phase scrambled bit-by-bit by a private chaotic signal,which provides two layers of enhanced security to guarantee the privacy of key distribution while providing a high secret key rate.We experimentally achieved a record classical secret key rate of 10 Gb/s with a bit error rate lower than the hard-decision forward error correction(HD-FEC)over a 40 km standard single mode fiber.The proposed solution holds great promise for achieving high-speed key distribution in the classical fiber channel by combining steganographic transmission and chaotic scrambling.

Metatropicdysplasia(MD,MIM156530)is a rare congenital bone dysplasia primarily characterized by severe platyspondyly with long and wide vertebral bodies and dumbbell deformity of the tubular bones.MD can be caused by heterozygous mutations in the gene encoding transient receptor potential vanilloid family member 4(TRPV4).We identifieda novel de novo mutation,c.2353T>C,in the TRPV4 gene,in a Chinese family with mild MD.

Federated learning on non-IID and long-tailed data viadual-decoupling

Federated learning(FL),a cutting-edge distributed machine learning training paradigm,aims to generate a global model by collaborating on the training of client models without revealing local private data.The co-occurrence of non-independent and identically distributed(non-IID)and long-tailed distribution in FL is one challenge that substantially degrades aggregate performance.In this paper,we present a corresponding solution called federated dual-decoupling via model and logit calibration(FedDDC)for non-IID and long-tailed distributions.The model is characterized by three aspects.First,we decouple the global model into the feature extractor and the classifier to fine-tune the components affected by the joint problem.For the biased feature extractor,we propose a client confidence re-weighting scheme to assist calibration,which assigns optimal weights to each client.For the biased classifier,we apply the classifier re-balancing method for fine-tuning.Then,we calibrate and integrate the client confidence re-weighted logits with the re-balanced logits to obtain the unbiased logits.Finally,we use decoupled knowledge distillation for the first time in the joint problem to enhance the accuracy of the global model by extracting the knowledge of the unbiased model.Numerous experiments demonstrate that on non-IID and long-tailed data in FL,our approach outperforms state-of-the-art methods.

The influence of inter-band rock on rib spalling in longwall panel with large mining height

In order to improve rib stability,failure criteria and instability mode of a thick coal seam with inter-band rock layer are analysed in this study.A three-dimensional mechanical model is established for the rib by considering the rock layer.A safety factor is defined foy the rib,and it is observed that the safety factor exhibits a positive correlation with the thickness and strength of the inter-band rock.A calculation method for determining critical parameters of the rock layer is presented to ensure the rib stability.It is revealed that incomplete propagation of the fracture at the hard rock constitutes a fundamental prerequisite for ensuring the rib stability.The influence of the position of the inter-band rock in the coal seam on failure mechanism of the rib was thoroughly investigated by developing a series of physical models for the rib at the face area.The best position for the inter-band rock in the coal seam is at a height of 1.5 m away from the roof line,which tends to provide a good stability state for the rib.For different inter-band rock positions,two ways of controlling rib by increasing supports stiffness and flexible grouting reinforcement are proposed.

Data Quality Control Method of a New Drifting Observation Technology Named Drifting Air-Sea Interface Buoy

An integral quality control(QC)procedure that integrates various QC methods and considers the design indexes and operational status of the instruments for the observations of drifting air-sea interface buoy was developed in the order of basic in-spection followed by targeted QC.The innovative method of combining a moving Hampel filter and local anomaly detection com-plies with statistical laws and physical processes,which guarantees the QC performance of meteorological variables.Two sets of observation data were used to verify the applicability and effectiveness of the QC procedure,and the effect was evaluated using the observations of the Kuroshio Extension Observatory buoy as the reference.The results showed that the outliers in the time series can be correctly identified and processed,and the quality of data improved significantly.The linear correlation between the quality-controlled observations and the reference increased,and the difference decreased.The correlation coefficient of wind speed before and after QC increased from 0.77 to 0.82,and the maximum absolute error decreased by approximately 2.8ms^(-1).In addition,air pressure and relative humidity were optimized by 10^(-3)–10^(-2) orders of magnitude.For the sea surface temperature,the weight of coefficients of the continuity test algorithm was optimized based on the sea area of data acquisition,which effectively expanded the applicability of the algorithm.

Numerous bismuth-based semiconductors(BBSs)with sophisticated and desirable structures used as photocatalysts for efficient photocatalytic degradation of water organic contaminants have attracted considerable attention.However,regulating the crystal phases and phase transition of BBSs for promoted photocatalytic performance is ignored.Herein,the unique crystal structure and band structure features of each typical BBSs,and the vital roles on phase controlling of each phase were systematically presented based on the classification of BBSs.Notably,the critical factors for the phase transition of BBSs and intrinsic driving forces endowed by phases of BBSs for enhanced photocatalytic performance of organic contaminants removal were also elucidated.This review will provide systematical guidelines and horizons for regulating the crystal phase and phase transition of BBSs,promoting photocatalytic degradation and mineralization of organic contaminants.

In the past two decades, the oxy-fuel combustion of pulverized coal has been extensively developed, leading to the completion of several large industrial pilot oxy-fuel plants worldwide. Various types of oxy-fuel burners have been designed and tested in largescale pilot plants as key components of oxy-fuel combustion. These burners face major challenges in terms of their flame stability because of their decreasing stream momentum ratio and increasing carbon dioxide concentration. However, it offers flexibility in adjusting the oxygen concentration in each burner stream. This study aims to provide a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art knowledge on oxy-coal burner design and operation in power plants. First, the combustion characteristics under oxy-fuel conditions are briefly introduced. Subsequently, the principal requirements and fundamental parameters of the oxy-coal burners are discussed. The development process of oxy-fuel burners is also presented. Moreover, a compatible design strategy and scaling-up techniques are described for oxy-coal burners developed by the authors over the past ten years. The performances of oxy-coal burners in three large pilot oxy-fuel plants worldwide are summarized and compared. Finally, concluding remarks are provided and potential research needs are suggested.
