Risk factors for intracranial aneurysm in a Chinese ethnic population

Background Intracranial aneurysm （IAN） is a protruding bubble or a sac on a brain artery that balloons out over time, which may lead to spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage （SAH）, ultimately disability and mortality. Current research indicates that the disease is due to multiple causes, including environmental factors and various congenital abnormalities of blood vessels. Apart from congenital predisposition, various high-risk factors such as sex, age, hypertension, and atherosclerosis are involved in the formation of intracranial aneurysms. The aim of this study was to investigate the risk factors associated with the formation of sporadic intracranial aneurysms in Chinese Hart ethnic patients. Methods A total of 251 patients with intracranial aneurysm and 338 patients with other cerebral diseases （control group） were enrolled in this study. Single factor and logistic regression model were used to analyze the association of intracranial aneurysms with age; sex; cigarette smoking; alcohol or cocaine consumption; history of hypertension, coronary artery disease, diabetes mellitus and inherited connective tissue disease; and the levels of fasting blood glucose and blood fat. The data expressed as mean ± standard deviation were processed with the statistical software SPSS 13. Quantitative and qualitative data were analyzed by the independent-sample t test, and the chi-square test respectively. Logistic regression method was used to analyze the multiple factors. Results In the 251 patients, 163 （64.94%） were at age of 40 to 60 years. Sex （OR, 1.41; 95% CI, 1.01 --1.96）, cigarette smoking （OR, 1.81; 95% CI, 1.06--3.10）, hypertension （OR, 2.32; 95% CI, 1.30--4.16） and fasting blood glucose were significantly associated with intracranial aneurysm （P〈0.05）. Rab5 is a GTPase protein that is involved in intracellular membrane trafficking. It functions by binding to various effector proteins and regulating cellular responses, including the formation of transport vesicles and their fusion with the cellular membrane. Rab5 has been reported to play an important role in the development of the zebrafish embryo;however, its role in axonal regeneration in the central nervous system remains unclear. In this study, we established a zebrafish Mauthner cell model of axonal injury using single-cell electroporation and two-photon axotomy techniques. We found that overexpression of Rab5 in single Mauthner cells promoted marked axonal regeneration and increased the number of intra-axonal transport vesicles. In contrast, treatment of zebrafish larvae with the Rab kinase inhibitor CID-1067700markedly inhibited axonal regeneration in Mauthner cells. We also found that Rab5 activated phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K) during axonal repair of Mauthner cells and promoted the recovery of zebrafish locomotor function. Additionally, rapamycin, an inhibitor of the mechanistic target of rapamycin downstream of PI3K, markedly hindered axonal regeneration. These findings suggest that Rab5 promotes the axonal regeneration of injured zebrafish Mauthner cells by activating the PI3K signaling pathway.

Cells are the fundamental units of biological systems and exhibit unique development trajectories and molecular features. Our exploration of how the genomes orchestrate the formation and maintenance of each cell, and control the cellular phenotypes of various organismsis, is both captivating and intricate. Since the inception of the first single-cell RNA technology, technologies related to single-cell sequencing have experienced rapid advancements in recent years. These technologies have expanded horizontally to include single-cell genome, epigenome,proteome, and metabolome, while vertically, they have progressed to integrate multiple omics data and incorporate additional information such as spatial sc RNA-seq and CRISPR screening. Single-cell omics represent a groundbreaking advancement in the biomedical field,offering profound insights into the understanding of complex diseases, including cancers. Here, we comprehensively summarize recent advances in single-cell omics technologies, with a specific focus on the methodology section. This overview aims to guide researchers in selecting appropriate methods for single-cell sequencing and related data analysis.

Two novel phosphors LiBa_(4(1-x))Eu_(4x)Ta_(3)O_(12)(H-LBTO:xEu^(3+)) and Li_(0.25)Ba_(1-x)Eu_(x)Ta_(0.75)O_(3)(C-LBTO:xEu^(3+))were prepared successfully by a molten salt *** transformation between these two structures was realized by changing the sintering temperature or changing the Eu^(3+) ions concentration,which was also demonstrated by the X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),diffuse reflectance spectra(DRS),and photoluminescence excitation(PLE) analyses,Both the sintering temperature and the Eu^(3+)ions doping concentration have significant impact on the formation of the crystal *** these phosphors sintered at 1023 K exhibit two major luminescence lines at 594 and 614 nm under nearUV light of 395 nm excitation,corresponding to Eu^(3+)ions typical transitions of ^(5)D_(0)→^(7)F_(1) and ^(5)D_(0)→^(7)F_(2).The optimum concentration of Eu^(3+) ions is 9 mol% for C-LBTO:xEu^(3+) samples and the quenching interaction type is the nearest-neighbor ion *** thermal stability of the C-LBTO:0.09Eu^(3+)sample was investigated in detail and the device application further suggests that C-LBTO:0.09Eu^(3+) can be used as a red phosphor for near-UV excited w-LEDs in lighting.

A series of Ce_(1-x)Ti_(x)O_(2)mixed oxide catalysts were synthesized by sol-gel method and then loading of noble metal(M=Pt,Rh,Ru)was used for soot ***-doped Ce_(1-x)Ti_(x)O_(2)catalysts(x is the molar ratio of Ti/(Ti+Ce)and ranges from 0.1 to 0.5)exhibit much better oxidation performance than CeO_(2)catalyst,and the Ce_(0.9)Ti_(0.1)O_(2)catalyst calcined at 500℃has the best catalysis *** noble metal(1 wt%)was supported on Ce_(0.9)Ti_(0.1)O_(2)(M/C9 T1)and the properties of the catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),Raman,Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)method,and H_(2)-temperature programmed reduction(H_(2)-TPR)*** show that the introduction of Ti into CeO_(2)forming Ti-O-Ce structure enhances the catalytic activity and increases the number of oxygen vacancies at the catalyst *** noble metal is highly dispersed over Ce_(0.9)Ti_(0.1)O_(2),and M/C9 T1 catalysts present enhanced activity in comparison to Ce_(0.9)Ti_(0.1)O_(2).It is found that noble metals can greatly increase the activity of the catalyst and the corresponding oxidation rate of soot can enhance the electron transfer capacity and oxygen adsorption capacity of the catalyst.A small amount of Ti doping in CeO_(2)can significantly improve the activity of the catalyst,while a large amount of Ti reduces the performance of the catalyst because a large amount of Ti is enriched on the surface of the catalyst,which hinders the contact and reaction between the catalyst and the soot.

The effect of temperature on interface microstructure and shear strength of 1420 A1-Li alloy and 7B04 A1 alloy composite plates prepared by diffusion bonding were investigated. The results indicate the optimum temperature for bonding the composite plates is 520℃, a sound bonding interface without continuous intermetallic compound layers and interfacial voids is obtained, and the shear strength value of bond joints can be as high as 190 MPa. An interfacial transition zone is formed due to the alloying elements mutual diffusion during the bonding process. Meanwhile, the effect of temperature on diffusion of alloying elements and interface reaction were discussed in detail, the results show that the higher temperature can increase the diffusion of alloying elements fluxes across the bonding interface, which can accelerate the closure of interfacial voids; meanwhile, when Mg atoms diffuse across the bonding interface, it can react with and break up the surface oxide films into discrete particles, and the removal of interface oxides increases the metal to metal bond areas and improves the bond quality.

A pixel-level local contrast measure for infrared small target detection

Infrared(IR) small target detection is one of the key technologies of infrared search and track(IRST)systems. Existing methods have some limitations in detection performance, especially when the target size is irregular or the background is complex. In this paper, we propose a pixel-level local contrast measure(PLLCM), which can subdivide small targets and backgrounds at pixel level *** pixel-level segmentation, the difference between the target and the background becomes more obvious, which helps to improve the detection performance. First, we design a multiscale sliding window to quickly extract candidate target pixels. Then, a local window based on random walker(RW) is designed for pixel-level target segmentation. After that, PLLCM incorporating probability weights and scale constraints is proposed to accurately measure local contrast and suppress various types of background interference. Finally, an adaptive threshold operation is applied to separate the target from the PLLCM enhanced map. Experimental results show that the proposed method has a higher detection rate and a lower false alarm rate than the baseline algorithms, while achieving a high speed.
