Controlling the solid–liquid–vapor tri-phase interface is of fundamental importance for a broad range of industrial applications including biomedical engineering, energy production and utilization, environmental control, water production, and thermal management. Although a lot of progress has been made over the past few decades on surface manipulation for promoting droplet removal, it is challenging to accelerate both droplet growth and surface refreshing for enhancing vapor-to-liquid condensation. Here we present a superhydrophobic hierarchical mesh-covered(hi-mesh) surface to enable continuous sucking flow of liquid condensate, which achieves fourfold-higher droplet growth and 36.8% faster surface refreshing compared to the state-of-the-art dropwise condensation. Unprecedented enhanced condensation heat transfer is observed to be sustained over a wide range of surface subcooling on the hi-mesh surfaces. This demonstration of sustained enhanced condensation enhancement is not only of fundamental scientific importance, but also provides a viable strategy for large-scale deployment of micro/nanostructured surfaces in a diverse range of technologies.

Impacts of Wave and Current on Drag Coefficient and Wind Stress over the Tropical and Northern Pacific

By taking into consideration the effects of ocean surface wave-induced Stokes drift velocity Un, and current velocity Uc on the drag coefficient, the spatial distributions of drag coefficient and wind stress in 2004 are computed over the tropical and northern Pacific using an empirical drag coefficient parameterization formula based on wave steepness and wind speed. The global ocean current field is generated from the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model （HYCOM） and the wave data are generated from Wavewatch Ill （WW3）. The spatial variability of the drag coefficient and wind stress is analyzed. Preliminary results indicate that the ocean surface Stokes drift velocity and current velocity exert an important influence on the wind stress. The results also show that consideration of the effects of the ocean surface Stokes drift velocity and current velocity on the wind stress can significantly improve the modeling of ocean circulation and air-sea interaction processes.

A transparent radiative cooling(T-RC)film with low transmittance in solar spectra and selectively high emissivity in the atmospheric window(8-13𝜇m)is applied on roof glazing for building energy *** evaluate the per-formance of the T-RC film,two identical model boxes(1.0 m×0.6 m×1.2 m,L×W×H)were constructed and the inside air temperatures were measured in August in Ningbo,*** show that the maximum temperature difference between the two model boxes with and without the T-RC film was 21.6℃during the experiment.A whole building model was built in EnergyPlus for the model *** a good agreement achieved between the calculation results and the measured temperature data,the experimentally validated EnergyPlus model was then extended to an 815.1 m^(2)exhibition building with roof glazing to analyze the annual air conditioning(AC)energy *** results show that by incorporating both the T-RC film’s cooling benefit in summer and heating penalty in winter,the annual AC energy consumption of the exhibition building can be reduced by 40.9-63.4%,varying with different climate conditions.

长垣老区密井网区块水驱与化学驱并存,具有井网层系多、井网密度大、压力系统复杂等特点,采取常规钻完井方式进行零散更新井施工存在安全风险高、固井质量保障难、井区产量影响大等问题。控压钻井技术以井区动态压力预测为依据,建立有限控注标准;通过精准控制环空压力有效平衡地层压力,实现安全钻进;采用“双凝防窜水泥浆体系+控压候凝”技术提高固井质量。该项技术将钻关范围从300m缩小至50m,50~150m范围内的注入井实施减压控注,钻关井数大幅减少,大大减少了对300m范围产量的影响,及时完善了化学驱区块的井组注采关系,保证了注剂段塞的连续性,提高了驱替效率。控压钻井技术对提高长垣老区井组及整体开发效果起到了重要作用。

There exists a tongue-shaped swell-dominance pool known as Swell Pool（SP） in the Eastern Pacific *** monthly-mean wave transports（WT） for each month of 2000 is computed using the wave products of ECMWF reanalysis *** comparing the 2000 monthly-mean WT and monthly-mean wind field from QUICKSCAT,large differences are found between the wave transport direction and the wind direction over the Eastern *** may serve as an evidence for the existence of the SP in this *** work done in this study indicates that the sources of swell in the Tropical Eastern Pacific（TEP） are in the westerly regions of the Southern and Northern Pacific.

In many engineering applications,it is essential to have information about rocks that inherently contain preexisting flaws under dynamic loading *** impact tests are conducted on samples with varying flaw angles using the split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)test system and the Digital Image Correlation system(DIC).The characteristics of the samples after dynamic loading,including dynamic strength,energy dissipation,and fractal fracture,are compared and *** the flaw angle increases,the peak stress and strain exhibit a typical V-shaped pattern,reaching the minimum value at 30,and the initial initiation position shifts from the flaw tips to the middle of the *** modes can be divided into three modes depending on the flaw *** progressive failure process,taking into account the heterogeneity of the rock,is demonstrated by developing an elastic damage constitutive model that uses dynamic compression and tensile tests to parameterize *** the flaw angle increases,the initial damage zone also moves from the flaw tips to the middle of the *** around the hole with redistributed stress are observed,and the failure mechanisms can be explained with the aid of strain energy density(SED).Using fracture mechanics,the analytical solution of stress around the flaw is provided,and the variation of crack initiation angle,stress distribution,and energy dissipation under different flaw angles is theoretically explained,which is in good agreement with the experimental and simulated results.

Utilizing CO_(2)for bio-succinic acid production is an attractive approach to achieve carbon capture and recycling(CCR)with simultaneous production of a useful platform *** succinogenes and Basfia succiniciproducens were selected and investigated as microbial ***,the type and concentration of inorganic carbon concentration and glucose concentration were evaluated.6 g C/L MgCO_(3)and 24 g C/L glucose were found to be the optimal basic operational conditions,with succinic acid production and carbon yield of over 30 g/L and over 40%,***,for maximum gaseous CO_(2)fixation,carbonate was replaced with CO_(2)at different ***“less carbonate more CO_(2)”condition of the inorganic carbon source was set as carbonate:CO_(2)=1:9(based on the mass of carbon).This condition presented the highest availability of CO_(2)by well-balanced chemical reaction equilibrium and phase equilibrium,showing the best performance with regarding CO_(2)fixation(about 15 mg C/(L·hr)),with suppressed lactic acid *** to key enzymes analysis,the ratio of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase to lactic dehydrogenase was enhanced at high ratios of gaseous CO_(2),which could promote glucose conversion through the succinic acid *** further increase gaseous CO_(2)fixation and succinic acid production and selectivity,stepwise CO_(2)addition was evaluated.50%-65%increase in inorganic carbon utilization was obtained coupled with 20%-30%increase in succinic acid *** was due to the promotion of the succinic acid branch of the glucose metabolism,while suppressing the pyruvate branch,along with the inhibition on the conversion from glucose to lactic acid.

The bonding characteristics of (0001)α2||(111)γ interface in two-phase TiAl alloy have beeninvestigated with the recursion method. The results of bond order integral and interaction energybetween atoms are presented. The effects of B on atoms bonding both in constituent phase andat the α2/γ interface have been studied. The correlation between the mechanical propertiesof the alloy and the bonding at the interface has been discussed. The results suggest that Bsegregation to the interface benefits the ductility. This is supported by the related experiment.
