Fabricating a smart clothing system based on strain-sensing yarn and novel stitching technology for health monitoring

Various yarn-shaped flexible strain sensors have recently been ***,research is lacking on additive manufacturing for smart clothing for integrating yarn sensors with commercial ***,a strain-sensing yarn is sewn into a piece of fabric through a novel stitching technique,and the influence of the stitching method and needle pitch on the sensing performance is investigated using finite element analysis(FEA).The sensing performance could be improved when the sensing yarn is self-locked in the fabric at the needle eyes,and the needle pitch was reduced to 0.5 cm,w.ich is attributed to the enhanced stress and strain ***,the composite sensing fabric featured outstanding performance,including a low detection limit(0.1%),rapid response(280 ms),excellent durability(10000 cycles),and high stability(negligible drift and frequency independence).in addition,the remarkable wear resistance,washability,and anti-interference to ambient humidity and perspiration were ***,the optimal stitch trace lengths of sensing yarn for detecting elbow motion,breathing,and heartbeats are ***,a smart clothing system composed of smart clothing,data acquisition unit,and mobile APP was developed to simultaneously detect human movement and physiological *** work provides a reference to produce intelligent garments based on yarn sensors for health monitoring.

in the endeavor of searching for highly active and stable electrocatalysts toward overall water splitting,high-entropy-alloys have been the intense subjects ow.ng to their advanced physicochemical *** non-noble metal free-standing multiscale porous niFeCoZn high-entropy-alloy is in situ constructed on the surface layer of niZn intermetallic and ni heterojunction over nickel foam(niFeCoZn/niZn-ni/nF)by one scalable dealloying protocal to fulfill the outstanding bifunctional electrocatalytic performances toward overall water *** of the high-entropy effects and specific hierarchical porous architecture,the as-made niFeCoZn/niZn-ni/nF displays high intrinsic catalytic activities and durability toward both hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)in alkaline *** particular,the in-situ construction of bimodal porous niFeCoZn high-entropy-alloy results in the small overpotentials(η1000=254/409 mV for HER and OER),low Tafel slopes,and exceptional long-term catalytic durability for 400 ***,the electrolyzer constructed with niFeCoZn/niZn-ni/nF as both cathode and anode exhibits a low cell voltage of 1.72 V to deliver the current density of 500 mA·cm^(–2) for overall water *** work not only provides a facile and scalable protocol for the preparation of self-supporting high-entropy-alloy nanocatalysts but also enlightens the engineering of high performance bifunctional electrocatalysts toward water splitting.

Changes in muscle strength and risk of cardiovascular disease among middle-aged and older adults in China:Evidence from a prospective cohort study

Background:Evidence indicates that low muscle strength is associated with an increased cardiovascular diseases(CVDs)***,the association between muscle strength changes based on repeated measurements and CVD incidence remains ***:The study used data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study in 2011(wave 1),2013(wave 2),2015(wave 3),and 2018(wave 4).Low muscle strength was defined as handgrip strengthn orwomen,or chair-rising time≥12 *** on changes in muscle strength from waves 1 to 2,participants were categorized into four groups of normal-normal,Low.normal,normal-Low,and *** events,including heart disease and stroke,were recorded using a self-reported questionnaire during waves 3 and 4 *** proportional hazards models were used to investigate the association between muscle strength changes and CVD incidence after multivariable *** ratios(HRs)and 95%confidence intervals(95%Cis)were estimated with the normal-normal group as the ***:A total of 1164 CVD cases were identified among 6608 *** to participants with sustained normal muscle strength,the CVD risks increased progressively across groups of the Low.normal(HR=1.20,95%Ci:1.01-1.43),the normal-Low(HR=1.35,95%Ci:1.14-1.60),and the Low-Low(HR=1.76,95%Ci:1.49-2.07).Similar patterns were observed for the significant associations between muscle strength status and the incidence risks of heart disease and *** analyses showed that the significant associations between CVD and muscle strength changes were consistent across age,sex,and body mass index(BMi)***:The study found that muscle strength changes were associated with CVD *** suggests that continuous tracking of muscle status may be helpful in screening cardiovascular risk.

As an unconventional resource, oil shale possesses abundant reserves and significant potential for industrial applications. The rational and efficient development of oil shale resources holds immense importance in reducing national energy demand. in-situ catalytic technology, characterized by its high efficiency, low pollution, and minimal energy consumption, represents a key direction for future oil shale development. This paper provides a comprehensive review of research progress in in-situ oil shale mining technology, oil shale pyrolysis catalysts, the pyrolysis mechanism of kerogen, and the compatibility of different heating processes and catalysts. Furthermore, the paper proposes future research directions and prospects for oil shale in-situ catalytic technology, including reservoir modification, highefficiency catalyst synthesis, injection processes, and high-efficiency heating technology. These insights serve as valuable technical references for the advancement of oil shale in-situ catalytic technology.

Portable power is an effective solution to realize self-powered sensors for wearable devices,promoting future sustainable ***-based triboelectric nanogenerators(M-TEnGs)have emerged as a promising technology for harvesting biomechanical energy from human motion ow.ng to their advantages,such as simple structure,lightw.ight design,and efficient energy ***,the poor durability,low adaptability,and un-washability of two-dimensional membrane materials have largely hindered their application in wearable *** this study,we propose a sheath-core polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF)/graphene(G)-carbon fiber(CF)yarn fabricated via conjugate electrospinning,comprising a commercial CF core and an electrospun graphene-doped PVDF sheath,w.ich improves the fatigue resistance of electrospun nanofiber films under prolonged friction and keeps a high degree of *** resulting electronic textile,woven with the large-scale electrospun PVDF/G-CF yarn,demonstrates a remarkable power density of 25.5 mw·m^(-2).The tight distribution of PVDF/G nanofibers on the textile surface ensures excellent softness,washability,and ***,the electrospun PVDF/G-CF textile exhibits significant potential in pressure sensing,self-powered operation,and motion detection,making it highly suitable for wearable electronics applications.

Antimicrobial peptides(AMPs)in insects are endogenous peptides that are effector components of the innate defense system of the *** may serve as antimicrobial agents because of their small molecular w.ight and broad-spectrum antimicrobial *** this study,we performed transcriptome analysis of cigarette beetle(Lasioderma serricorne)larvae,parasitized by the ectoparasitic wasp,Anisopteromalus *** AMP genes were significantly upregulated follow.ng *** parasitism,postulating the hypothesis that the parasitization enhanced the host's resistance against pathogenic microorganisms through the regulation of host AMP ***,3 AMP genes(LsDef1,LsDef2,and LsCole)were significantly upregulated and we studied their immune function in *** challenge and functional analysis showed that LsCole was responsible for the immune response against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria,w.ile LsDef1 and LsDef2 were involved in insect defense against Gram-positive *** recombinant LsCole exhibited antimicrobial activities against the Gram-negative bacterium Escherichia coli and the Gram-positive bacterium Staphylococcus ***2 showed an antibacterial effect against *** and LsDef2 exhibited antibiofilm activity against *** 2 AMPs disrupted cell membranes and caused leakage of *** cell *** results indicated that the 3 AMPs in *** are involved in the innate immunity of this pest *** AMPs may have potential as antimicrobial agents for bacterial infection ***,data are discussed in relation to new control strategies with greater biosafety against pest insects with use of microbial biocontrol agents in combination with RnA interference against the insect's defensive AMP genes.

To address the sluggish kinetics of the oxygen evolution reaction(OER),a potential approach is to rationally design and fabricate extremely effective single atom catalysts(SACs).Using an appropriate matrix to stabilize single-atom active centers with optimal geometric and electronic structures is crucial for enhancing catalytic ***,we report the design and fabrication of ir single atoms on niFeZn layered double hydroxide(ir-SAC/niFeZn-LDH)electrocatalyst for highly efficient and stable *** is investigated that the niFeZn support exhibits abundant defect sites and unsaturated coordination *** sites function to anchor and stabilize single ir single atoms on the *** strong synergetic electronic interaction between the ir single atoms and the niFeZn matrix resulted in remarkable OER performance of the as-fabricated ir-SAC/niFeZn *** a loading ir content of 1.09 wt.%,this catalyst demonstrates a highly stable OER activity,with an overpotential of 196 mV at 10 mA·cm^(−2) and a small Tafel slope of 35 mV·dec^(−1) for the OER in a 1 M KOH *** results significantly surpass the performance of the commercially available irO_(2) catalyst.

Background Cadmium(Cd) pollution in agricultural soils has become a priority environmental concern globally. A reasonable application of passivators is critical to address the problem. in this study, we examined the remediation effects of rice husk biochar(r BC) and sepiolite(Sep) as single and combined(r BC + Sep) treatments on Cd pollution in a weakly alkaline soil using three maize cultivars(Liyu 16, Zhengdan 958, and Sanbei 218) as test crops. we also explained the mechanisms involved in the remediation *** The pseudo-second-order kinetic equation and Langmuir model could well describe the adsorption process of r BC + Sep for Cd2+. Compared with the control treatment(CK), soil available Cd concentration decreased by 29.51–36.34% under r BC + Sep treatment(pnd the Cd concentrations in maize grains of Liyu 16, Zhengdan 958, and Sanbei 218 decreased by 38.08–47.85%, 37.25–45.61%, and 33.96–46.15%, respectively(pw.ng passivation treatment, soil available Cd concentration decreased and gradually changed from the exchangeable and carbonate binding forms to the Fe/Mn oxide and residual forms. The bioconcentration factors of Liyu 16(0.05–0.09) and Sanbei 218(0.05–0.09) were lower than those of Zhengdan 958(0.07–0.13). in addition, r BC +Sep treatment increased soil p H and soil electrical conductivity, but the differences were not significant(p> 0.05).Conclusions The application of 0.2% r BC + 0.5% Sep composite passivation material to weakly alkaline Cd-contaminated soil can effectively reduce the Cd concentration of soil and maize.
