The urea-formaldehyde（UF） capsules filled with a healing agent, a mixture of epoxy resins（epoxy 711 and E-51） as core material, were produced by means of one step in-situ polymerization. The characteristics of these microcapsules were studied via scanning electron microscopy（SEM）, particle size analysis, FTIR and DSC/TGA. The results show that the dispersed and integrated microcapsules of 5 μm in shell thickness were synthesized successfully. The capsules were produced with diameters ranging from 10 to 250 μm via controlling agitation rate. Young＇s modulus of the capsule was a little lower than those of the epoxy resins, but the microcapsules having such a shell thickness were robust enough to survive handling during manufacturing self-healing composites. When damage occurred in the epoxy matrix, the crack could rupture the microcapsule to make the repairing agent release.

Influence of education and working background on physicians' knowledge of secondary prevention guidelines for coronary heart disease: results from a survey in China

Background and objective： In clinical practice, the standard of secondary prevention for coronary heart disease （CHD） is quite disappointing in China. The physicians＇ shortage of knowledge of secondary prevention guidelines is thought to be a key factor contributing to the inadequate and delayed translation of guidelines into clinical practice. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of physicians＇ characteristics, including their educa- tion and work experience, on their knowledge of secondary prevention in China. Methods： A representative ques- tionnaire survey was made of physicians from cardiology departments in 35 tertiary hospitals in China. The survey contained 19 questions on knowledge of guideline recommendations for the secondary prevention of CHD. We col- lected basic information about the physicians, including their educational degree, clinical practice duration/work experience and geographic region. Results： In total, 864 physicians participated in the survey. Eight hundred and thirty-seven completed questionnaires were analyzed. For 6 of the 19 questions, physicians with a postgraduate degree were more likely to answer correctly than those without such a degree. For 11 of the 19 questions, physicians with more than three years＇ clinical experience were more likely to answer correctly than those who had less than three years＇ experience. For 5 of the 19 questions, *** eastern areas were more likely to answer correctly than those from mid/western areas. The mean total score of correct answers to the questionnaire was 11.69 points. Edu- cational degree and clinical practice duration affected total scores significantly while practice location did not （β=0.500, P=0.004; ,β=0.979, P=0.000; and 8=0.228, P=0.162, respectively）. Even if a relatively low score of 12 is taken as a threshold level of acceptable knowledge （defined as a pass）, the pass rate of all physicians was only 53.9%. Identification of reservoir types in deep carbonates has always been a great challenge due to complex logging responses caused by the heterogeneous scale and distribution of storage *** cross-plot analysis and empirical formula methods for identifying reservoir types using geophysical logging data have high uncertainty and low efficiency,which cannot accurately reflect the nonlinear relationship between reservoir types and logging ***,the kernel Fisher discriminant analysis(KFD),a kernel-based machine learning technique,attracts attention in many fields because of its strong nonlinear processing ***,the overall performance of KFD model may be limited as a single kernel function cannot simultaneously extrapolate and interpolate well,especially for highly complex data *** address this issue,in this study,a mixed kernel Fisher discriminant analysis(MKFD)model was established and applied to identify reservoir types of the deep Sinian carbonates in central Sichuan Basin,*** MKFD model was trained and tested with 453 datasets from 7 coring wells,utilizing GR,CAL,DEN,AC,CNL and RT logs as input *** particle swarm optimization(PSO)was adopted for hyper-parameter optimization of MKFD *** evaluate the model performance,prediction results of MKFD were compared with those of basic-kernel based KFD,RF and SVM ***,the built MKFD model was applied in a blind well test,and a variable importance analysis was *** comparison and blind test results demonstrated that MKFD outperformed traditional KFD,RF and SVM in the identification of reservoir types,which provided higher accuracy and stronger *** MKFD can therefore be a reliable method for identifying reservoir types of deep carbonates.

Aquatic vegetation is a vital component of natural river ecosystems,playing a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance,providing habitat and improving water ***,the presence of vegetation results in increased resistance in vegetated channels compared with non-vegetated channels,rendering traditional sediment movement predictions inadequate for the ***,the concept of a vegetation influence factor,denoted by CDah,has been proposed by previous researchers to represent the effect of vegetation on sediment movement in *** this study,we focus on exploring the vegetation resistance coefficient(CD)among the vegetation influence factors,evaluating two different calculation methods for vegetation resistance coefficient,and presenting two expressions through genetic algorithm analysis to predict the incipient flow velocity of sediment in vegetated *** predicted values from the new formulae show excellent agreement with measured data,highlighting the high accuracy of the proposed methods in predicting the incipient flow velocity of *** results provide a solid theoretical basis for understanding the influence of aquatic vegetation on sediment particle movement.

Human endogenous retroviruses(HERVs)are remnants of retroviral infections in human germline cells from millions of years *** these,ERVW-1(also known as HERV-W-ENV,ERVWE1,or ENVW)encodes the envelope protein of the HERV-W family,which contributes to the pathophysiology of ***,neuropathological studies have revealed cell death and disruption of iron homeostasis in the brains of individuals with ***,our bioinformatics analysis showed that differentially expressed genes in the human prefrontal cortex RNA microarray dataset(GSE53987)were mainly related to ferroptosis and its associated *** data demonstrated significantly lower expression levels of ferroptosis-related genes,particularly Glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4)and solute carrier family 3 member 2(SLC3A2),in schizophrenia patients compared to normal *** in-depth analyses revealed a significant negative correlation between ERVW-1 expression and the levels of GPX4/SLC3A2 in *** indicated that ERVW-1 increased iron levels,malondialdehyde(MDA),and transferrin receptor protein 1(TFR1)expression while decreasing glutathione(GSH)levels and triggering the loss of mitochondrial membrane potential,suggesting that ERVW-1 can induce *** research has shown that ERVW-1 reduced the expression of GPX4 and SLC3A2 by inhibiting their promoter ***,Ferrostatin-1(Fer-1),the ferroptosis inhibitor,reversed the iron accumulation and mitochondrial membrane potential loss,as well as restored the expressions of ferroptosis markers GSH,MDA,and TFR1 induced by *** conclusion,ERVW-1 could promote ferroptosis by downregulating the expression of GPX4 and SLC3A2,revealing a novel mechanism by which ERVW-1 contributes to neuronal cell death in schizophrenia.
