Yield sustainability of winter wheat under three limited-irrigation schemes based on a 28-year field experiment

Sustainable intensification is an agricultural development direction ***,little is known about the yield sustainability of winter wheat(Triticum aestivum L.)under limited irrigation schemes on the North China Plain(NCP).A 28-year field experiment from 1991 to 2018 at Wuqiao Experimental Station was used to characterize long-term yield,evapotranspiration(ET),and water use efficiency(WUE)trends under three irrigation treatments(W1,irrigation just before sowing;W2,irrigation before sowing and at jointing stage;W3,irrigation before sowing,at jointing stage,and at anthesis).Yield gaps and the effects of genetic improvement,climate change,and climate variables on wheat yield and key phenological stages were estimated using the Agricultural Production Systems Simulator(APSIM)*** yield and WUE of winter wheat increased during the 28 years under the three irrigation treatments,and the upward trend of WUE followed a saturation curve *** increased *** results showed that genetic improvement dramatically prolonged the phenological stages of vegetative growth period and contributed to yield increase by 0.03%-15.6%.The rapid increase in yield with lower water use was associated mainly with an increase in biomass with genetic improvement and partly with an increase in harvest index.A curvilinear relationship between WUE and yield emphasized the importance of obtaining high yields for high *** yield gaps between potential yield and yield under W1 treatment increased from 1991 to 2018 but were relatively constant for the W2 and W3 *** atmospheric CO_(2) concentration offset the negative effects of temperature increase on yield,leading to minor(-2.3%to 0.3%)changes in yield under climate ***,genetic improvement played a dominant role in yield increase,and limited-irrigation schemes(W2 and W3)can increase wheat yield and promote sustainability of crop production on the NCP.

The plastic load-bearing capacity of ductile composites such as metal matrix composites is studied with an insight into the microstructures. The macroscopic strength of a composite is obtained by combining the homogenization theory with static limit analysis, where the temperature parameter method is used to construct the self-equilibrium stress field. An interface failure model is proposed to account for the effects of the interface on the failure of composites. The static limit analysis with the finite-element method is then formulated as a constrained nonlinear programming problem, which is solved by the Sequential Quadratic Programming （SQP） method. Finally, the macroscopic transverse strength of perforated materials, the macroscopic transverse and off-axis strength of fiber-reinforced composites are obtained through numerical calculation. The computational results are in good agreement with the experimental data.

A succession of Permian bauxite deposits are concentrated in Wuchuan,Zheng’an and Daozhen counties of northern Guizhou,South *** deposits overlie contrast bedrocks,which are discriminated from the other bauxites of karst type in South *** of these bauxites are typified by sandwiched constructure,the upper and the lower layers of bauxitic claystone interbedded by the ore layer,and by abundant pyrite occurring in the ore and the lower layers.A geochemical study was carried out on samples from two boreholes of bauxitic profiles with claystone and carbonate bedrocks,*** shows that the diverse profiles illustrate contrast mobility of *** profile overlying clayey bedrock is depleted in most elements including REE but variously enriched in HFSE,Pb,Mo,and half mass of Al2O3was leached out;the profile overlying carbonatic bedrock is highly enriched in REE and moderately in HFSE and Pb,its Al2O3mass was basically *** horizons are extremely enriched in alkali of Li and variously in Ce.A new genetic model is suggested *** climate,coastal plain and frequent transgression and regression during the Permian caused a transition of weathering profiles from laterization to bauxitization in northern *** pyrite in the horizons formed under reducing environment during the transgression through combining of iron enriched in the laterite profile and sulfur from the soaking and penetrating seawater;during the regression,oxidation of pyrite caused strong acid medium and induced the bauxitization.

Increased grain yield(GY) and grain protein concentration(GPC) are the two main targets of efforts to improve wheat(Triticum aestivum L.) production in the North China Plain(NCP). We conducted a three-year field experiment in the 2014–2017 winter wheat growing seasons to compare the effects of conventional irrigation practice(CI) and micro-sprinkling irrigation combined with nitrogen(N) fertilizer(MSI) on GY, GPC, and protein yield(PY). Across the three years, GY, GPC, and PY increased by 10.5%–16.7%, 5.4%–8.0%, and 18.8%–24.6%, respectively, under MSI relative to CI. The higher GY under MSI was due primarily to increased thousand-kernel weight(TKW). The chlorophyll content of leaves was higher under MSI during the mid–late grain filling period, increasing the contribution of post-anthesis dry matter accumulation to GY, with consequent increases in total dry matter accumulation and harvest index compared to CI. During the mid–late grain filling period, the canopy temperature was markedly lower and the relative humidity was higher under MSI than under CI. The duration and rate of filling during the mid–late grain filling period were also higher under MSI than CI, resulting in higher TKW. MSI increased the contribution of post-anthesis N accumulation to grain N but reduced the pre-anthesis remobilization of N in leaves, the primary site of photosynthetic activity, possibly helping maintain photosynthate production in leaves during grain filling. Total N at maturity was higher under MSI than CI,although there was little difference in N harvest index. The higher GPC under MSI than under CI was due to a larger increase in grain N accumulation than in GY. Overall, MSI simultaneously increased both GY and GPC in winter wheat grown in the NCP.

The sink strength of developing ovaries in wheat determines the grain weight *** period from booting to the grain setting stage is critical for ovary growth and development and potential sink capacity ***,the underlying regulatory mechanism during this period by which the wheat plant balances and coordinates the floret number and ovary/grain weight under water stress has not been ***,we designed two irrigation treatments of W0(no seasonal irrigation)and W1(additional 75 mm of irrigation at the jointing stage)and analyzed the responses of the ovary/grain weight to water stress at the phenotypic,metabolomic,and transcriptomic *** results showed that the W0 irrigation treatment reduced the soil water content,plant height,and green area of the flag leaf,thus reducing grain number,especially for the inferior ***,it improved the grain weight of the superior and inferior grains as well as average grain weight at maturity,while the average ovary/grain weight and volume during–3 to 10 days after anthesis(DAA)also *** analysis indicated that the genes involved in both sucrose metabolism and phytohormone signal transduction were prominently accelerated by the W0 treatment,accompanied by greater enzymatic activities of soluble acid invertase(SAI)and sucrose synthase(Sus)and elevated abscisic acid(ABA)and indole-3-acetic acid(IAA)***,the sucrose content decreased,while the glucose and fructose contents *** addition,several TaTPP genes(especially TaTPP-6)were down-regulated and the IAA biosynthesis genes TaTAR1 and TaTAR2 were up-regulated under the W0 treatment before anthesis,which further increased the IAA ***,water stress reduced the growth of vegetative organs and eliminated most of the inferior grains,but increased the ABA and IAA levels of the surviving ovaries/grains,promoting the enzymatic activity of Sus and degrading sucrose into glucose and *** a

Phase behavior of scCO2 microemul- sion formed with food grade surfactant sodium bis-(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (AOT) was studied Critical microemulsion concentration (cμc) was de- duced from the dependence of pressure of cloud points on the concentration of surfactant AOT at con- stant temperature and water concentration. The re- sults show that there are transition points on the cloud point curve in a very narrow range of concen- tration of surfactant AOT. The transition points were changed with the temperature and water concentra- tion. These phenomena show that lower temperature is suitable to forming microemulsion droplet and the microemulsion with high water concentration is likely to absorb more surfactants to structure the interface.

Propagating Characteristic of Premixed Methane-Oxygen Deflagration in the Coal Mine Lane Including a Refuge Chamber

In order to investigate detonation propagation and distribution problems of premixed CH_4 ＋ 2O_2 mixture around a concrete structure such as a refuge chamber,detonation experiments in one small size tube were conducted. A simulation method was developed to obtain the flow field load distribution in the coal mine lane and pressure load of each part for the refuge chamber. Firstly,a physical model of a full-size explosiontest lane was established,which included the refuge chamber. With the calculations of the exact initial detonation pressure,the propagation characteristics of CH_4 ＋ 2O_2 premixed mixture detonation in the lane was simulated. Simulation results of various parts from AUTODYN are recorded,and the shock wave arrival time and the pressure peak can be observed from the detonation pressure-time curve over the changing propagation distance. So curve differences in different locations cannot be ignored. Then by detonation experiments in the small size tube,detonation pressure-time curves and velocity were obtained. Finally the simulation waveform of variation curve agreed well with the experimental results,which validated the detonation simulation method. The difference between shockwaves of the two sensors confirmed that detonation wave changed along with distance and time. These results should be taken into serious consideration for the detonation progration and distribution problem in future researches.

Performance Analysis of Intelligent CR-NOMA Model for Industrial IoT Communications

Aiming for ultra-reliable low-latency wireless communications required in industrial internet of things(IIoT)applications,this paper studies a simple cognitive radio non-orthogonal multiple access(CR-NOMA)downlink *** system consists of two secondary users(SUs)dynamically interfered by the primary user(PU),and its performance is characterized by the outage probability of the SU *** outage probability is calculated under two conditions where,a)the transmission of PU starts after the channel state information(CSI)is acquired,so the base station(BS)is oblivious of the interference,and b)when the BS is aware of the PU interference,and the NOMA transmission is adapted to the more comprehensive knowledge of the signal to interference plus noise ratio(SINR).These results are verified by simulations,and their good agreement suggests our calculations can be used to reduce the complexity of future *** find the outage probability is reduced when the SUs move further away from the primary transmitter or when the signal from PU is less powerful,and the BS always has better performance when it is aware of the *** findings thus emphasize the importance of monitoring the channel quality and realtime feedback to optimize the performance of CR-NOMA system.
