Investigating the effect of volatility on the hygroscopicities of acetate nanoparticle aerosols by surface plasmon resonance microscopy

Under high relative humidity(RH)conditions,the release of volatile components(such as acetate)has a significant impact on the aerosol *** this work,one surface plasmon resonance microscopy(SPRM)measurement system was introduced to determine the hygroscopic growth factors(GFs)of three acetate aerosols separately or mixed with glucose at different *** Ca(CH_(3.COO)_(2) or Mg(CH_(3.COO)_(2) aerosols,the hygroscopic growth trend of each time was lower than that of the previous time in three cyclic humidification from 70% RH to 90% RH,which may be due to the volatility of acetic acid leading to the formation of insoluble hydroxide(Ca(OH)_(2) or Mg(OH)_(2))under high RH *** the third calculated GF(using the Zdanovskii-Stokes-Robinson method)for Ca(CH_(3.COO)_(2) or Mg(CH_(3.COO)_(2) in bicomponent aerosols with 1:1 mass ratio were 3.20% or 5.3.% lower than that of the first calculated GF at 90% *** calculated results also showed that the hygroscopicity change of bicomponent aerosol was negatively correlated with glucose content,especially when the mass ratio of Mg(CH_(3.COO)_(2) to glucose was 1:2,the GF at 90% RH only decreased by4.67% after three cyclic *** coupled plasma atomic emission spectrum(ICP-AES)based measurements also indicated that the changes of Mg^(2+)concentration in bicomponent was lower than that of the *** results of this study reveal thatduring the efflorescence transitions of atmospheric nanoparticles,the organic acids diffusion rate may be inhibited by the coating effect of neutral organic components,and the particles aging cycle will be prolonged.

Biomimetic porous silicon oxycarbide ceramics with improved specific strength and efficient thermal insulation

Considering the challenge of aerodynamic heating,the development of high-performance insulating ce-ramic materials with lightweight and low thermal conductivity is crucially important for aerospace vehi-cles to achieve flight at high speed for a long *** this work,macro-porous silicon oxycarbide(SiOC)ceramics with directional pores(DP-SiOC)(mean pore size of 88.1μm)were prepared using polysiloxane precursors via freeze casting and photocrosslinking,followed by *** DP-SiOC samples were lightweight(density∼0.13. g cm^(-3.)with a porosity of 90.4%,which showed good shapability through the molding of polysiloxane *** DP-SiOC samples also exhibited an ultra-low thermal con-ductivity of 0.048 W(m K)^(-1)at room temperature,which can also withstand heat treatment at 1200°C for 1 *** addition,scaffolds with triply periodic minimal surfaces(TPMS)were fabricated using digital light processing(DLP)printing,which was further filled with polysiloxane precursors for increasing the strength of *** TPMS scaffolds filled with macro-porous SiOC ceramics(TPMS-DP-SiOC)showed good integration between TPMS and macro-pore structures,which had a porosity∼75%and high specific strength of 9.73.10^(3.N m kg^(-1).The thermal conductivity of TPMS-DP-SiOC samples was 0.255 W(m K)^(-1)at room *** biomimetic TPMS-DP-SiOC ceramics developed in this study are likely used for thermal protection systems.

Study of the ability of SWOT to detect sea surface height changes caused by internal solitary waves

Surface Water and Ocean Topography(SWOT)is a next-generation radar altimeter that offers high resolution,wide swath,imaging *** has provided free public data worldwide since December *** paper aims to preliminarily analyze the detection capabilities of the Ka-band radar interferometer(KaRIn)and Nadir altimeter(NALT),which are carried out by SWOT for internal solitary waves(ISWs),and to gather other remote sensing images to validate SWOT *** effectively detects ISW surface features and generates surface height variation maps reflecting the modulations induced by ***,its swath width does not completely cover the entire wave packet,and the resolution of L2/L3.level products(about 2 km)cannot be used to identify ISWs with smaller ***,significant wave height(SWH)images exhibit blocky structures that are not suitable for ISW studies;sea surface height anomaly(SSHA)images display systematic leftright *** optimize this imbalance using detrending methods;however,more precise treatment should commence with L1-level *** analysis based on L3.level SSHA data indicates that the average SSHA variation induced by ISWs ranges from 10 cm to 20 *** disturbed by ISWs record unusually elevated SWH and SSHA values,rendering the data unsuitable for analysis and necessitating targeted corrections in future retracking *** the normalized radar cross section,Ku-band and four-parameter maximum likelihood estimation retracking demonstrated greater sensitivity to minor changes in the sea surface,making them more suitable for ISW *** conclusion,SWOT demonstrates outstanding capabilities in ISW detection,significantly advancing research on the modulation of the sea surface by ISWs and remote sensing imaging mechanisms.

S-scheme regulated Ni_(2)P-NiS/twinned Mn_(0.5)Cd_(0.5)S hetero-homojunctions for efficient photocatalytic H_(2)evolution

Effective bulk phase and surface charge separation is critical for charge utilization during the photo-catalytic energy conversion *** this work,the ternary Ni_(2)P-NiS/twinned Mn_(0.5)Cd_(0.5)S(T-MCS)nanohybrids were successfully constructed via combining Ni_(2)P-NiS with T-MCS solid solution for visible light photocatalytic H_(2)evolution.T-MCS is composed of zinc blende Mn_(0.5)Cd_(0.5)S(ZB-MCS)and wurtzite Mn_(0.5)Cd_(0.5)S(WZ-MCS)and those two alternatively arranged crystal phases endow T-MCS with excellent bulk phase charge separation performance for the slight energy level difference between ZB-MCS and WZ-MCS.S-scheme carriers transfer route between NiS and T-MCS can accelerate the interfacial charge separation and retain the active electrons and holes,meanwhile,co-catalyst Ni_(2)P as electron receiver and proton reduction center can further optimize the H_(2)evolution reaction kinetics based on the surface Schottky barrier *** above-formed homo-heterojunctions can establish multiple charge transfer channels in the bulk phase of T-MCS and interface of T-MCS and Ni_(2)*** the synergistic effect of twinned homojunction,S-scheme heterojunction,and Schottky barrier,the ternary Ni_(2)P-NiS/T-MCS com-posite manifested an H_(2)production rate of 122.5 mmol h^(-1)g^(-1),which was 1.3.,1.24,and 2.58 times higher than those of the NiS/T-MCS(92.4 mmol h^(-1)g^(-1)),Ni_(2)P/T-MCS(98.4 mmol h^(-1)g^(-1)),and T-MCS(47.5 mmol h^(-1)g^(-1)),*** work demonstrates a promising strategy to develop efficient sul-fides photocatalyst toward targeted solar-driven H_(2)evolution through homo-heterojunction engineering.

Effects of shore-normal coastal structure on medium-to long-term embayed shoreline evolution

Based on high-tide shoreline data extracted from 87 Landsat satellite images from 1986 to 2019 as well as using the linear regression rate and performing a Mann-Kendall(M–K)trend test,this study analyzes the linear characteristics and nonlinear behavior of the medium-to long-term shoreline evolution of Jinghai Bay,eastern Guangdong *** particular,shoreline rotation caused by a shore-normal coastal structure is *** results show that the overall shoreline evolution over the past 3. years is characterized by erosion on the southwest beach,with an average erosion rate of 3.1 m/a,and significant accretion on the northeast beach,with an average accretion rate of 5.6 m/*** of the M–K trend test indicate that significant shoreline changes occurred in early 2006,which can be attributed to shore-normal *** to that engineering construction,the shorelines are slightly eroded,where the average erosion rate is 0.7 m/***,after shore-normal engineering is performed,the shoreline is characterized by significant erosion(3.2 m/a)on the southwest beach and significant accretion(8.5 m/a)on the northeast beach,thus indicating that the shore-normal engineering at the updrift headland contributes to clockwise shoreline *** analysis shows that the clockwise shoreline rotation is promoted not only by longshore sediment transport processes from southwest to northeast,but also by cross-shore sediment transport *** findings are crucial for beach erosion risk management,coastal disaster zoning,regional sediment budget assessments,and further observations and predictions of beach morphodynamics.

Designing metal-organic framework fiber network reinforced polymer electrolytes to provide continuous ion transport in solid state lithium metal batteries

Polyethylene oxide(PEO)-based solid-state electrolytes are considered ideal for electrolyte materials in solid-state lithium metal batteries(SSLMBs).However,practical applications are hindered by the lower conductivity and poor interfacial ***,we propose a strategy to construct a three-dimensional(3.)fiber network of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs).Composite solid electrolytes(CSEs)with continuous ion transport pathways were fabricated by filling a PEO polymer matrix in fibers containing interconnected *** 3. fiber network provides a fast Li+transport path and effectively improves the ionic conductivity(1.3.×10^(-4) S·cm^(-1),3.℃).In addition,the network of interconnected MOFs not only effectively traps the anions,but also provides sufficient mechanical strength to prevent the growth of Li *** from the advantages of structural design,the CSEs stabilize the Li/electrolyte interface and extend the cycle life of the Li-symmetric cells to 3.00 *** assembled SSLMBs exhibit excellent cycling performance at both room and high *** addition,the constructed pouch cells can provide an areal capacity of 0.62 mA·h·cm^(-2),which can still operate under extreme *** work provides a new strategy for the design of CSEs with continuous structure and stable operation of SSLMBs.

Grapevine-like high entropy oxide composites boost high-performance lithium sulfur batteries as bifunctional interlayers

Lithium-sulfur batteries(LSBs)with high energy densities have been demonstrated the potential for energy-intensive demand ***,their commercial applicability is hampered by hysteretic electrode reaction kinetics and the shuttle effect of lithium polysulfides(LiPSs).In this work,an interlayer consisting of high-entropy metal oxide(Cu_(0.7)Fe_(0.6)Mn_(0.4)Ni_(0.6)Sn_(0.5))O_(4) grown on carbon nanofibers(HEO/CNFs)is designed for *** CNFs with highly porous networks provide transport pathways for Li^(+) and e^(-),as well as a physical sieve effect to limit LiPSs *** particular,the grapevine-like HEO nanoparticles generate metal-sulfur bonds with LiPSs,efficiently anchoring active *** unique structure and function of the interlayer enable the LSBs with superior electrochemical performance,i.e.,the high specific capacity of 13.1 mAh g^(-1) at 0.1 C and 561 mAh g^(-1) at 6 *** work presents a facile strategy for exploiting high-performance LSBs.

Material flow analysis and global warming potential assessment of an industrial insect-based bioconversion plant using housefly larvae

The significant increase in the demand for biomass waste treatment after garbage classification has led to housefly larvae treatment becoming an attractive treatment *** can provide a source of protein while treating biomass waste,which means that nutrients can be returned to the natural food ***,the performance of this technology in terms of its environmental impacts is still unclear,particularly with regards to global warming potential(GWP).This study used a life cycle assessment(LCA)approach to assess a housefly larvae treatment plant with a treatment capacity of 50 tons of biomass waste per *** LCA results showed that the 95% confidence intervals for the GWP in summer and winter were determined to be 24.46-3..81 kg CO_(2) equivalent(CO_(2)-eq)/ton biomass waste and5.3.-10.08 kg CO_(2)-eq/ton biomass waste,*** greater GWP value in summer is due to the longer ventilation time and higher ventilation intensity in summer,which consumes more *** main GWP contributions are from(1)electricity needs(accounting for 78.6% of emissions in summer and 70.2%in winter)and(2)product substitution by mature housefly larvae and compost(both summer and winter accounting for 96.8% of carbon reduction).

Enhancing Evolutionary Algorithms With Pattern Mining for Sparse Large-Scale Multi-Objective Optimization Problems

Sparse large-scale multi-objective optimization problems(SLMOPs)are common in science and ***,the large-scale problem represents the high dimensionality of the decision space,requiring algorithms to traverse vast expanse with limited computational ***,in the context of sparse,most variables in Pareto optimal solutions are zero,making it difficult for algorithms to identify non-zero variables *** paper is dedicated to addressing the challenges posed by *** start,we introduce innovative objective functions customized to mine maximum and minimum candidate *** substantial enhancement dramatically improves the efficacy of frequent pattern *** this way,selecting candidate sets is no longer based on the quantity of nonzero variables they contain but on a higher proportion of nonzero variables within specific ***,we unveil a novel approach to association rule mining,which delves into the intricate relationships between non-zero *** novel methodology aids in identifying sparse distributions that can potentially expedite reductions in the objective function *** extensively tested our algorithm across eight benchmark problems and four real-world *** results demonstrate that our approach achieves competitive solutions across various challenges.

Sliding-induced subsurface microstructure evolution is believed to be decisive for determining the friction and wear performance of metallic contacts as well as the development of *** expects to develop a new prediction method of wear state by elucidating the correlation between subsurface microstructure evolution and corresponding magnetic domain ***,subsurface microstructure evolution including crystal and magnetic domain under tribological action is investigated *** results demonstrate that dislocation mediated plastic deformation decisively influences microstructural changes during tribological contact,further determining the magnetic domain ***,sliding-induced plastic deformation causes an increase in the width of magnetic domains,but depth-dependent derived microstructure formed under severe plastic deformation such as the refined grains and sub-grains,in turn,promoted the refinement of magnetic domains and their discontinuity,forming depth-dependent magnetic domain *** results are helpful to clarify the evolution of tribo-magnetization and the pinning effect of dislocations on magnetic domains.
