China is now confronting the intertwined challenges of air pollution and climate *** the high synergies between air pollution abatement and climate change mitigation,the Chinese government is actively promoting synergetic control of these two *** Synergetic Roadmap project was launched in 2021 to track and analyze the progress of synergetic control in China by developing and monitoring key *** Synergetic Roadmap 2022 report is the first annual update,featuring 20 indicators across five aspects:synergetic governance system and practices,progress in structural transition,air pollution and associated weather-climate interactions,sources,sinks,and mitigation pathway of atmospheric composition,and health impacts and benefits of coordinated *** to the comprehensive review presented in the 2021 report,the Synergetic Roadmap 2022 report places particular emphasis on progress in 2021 with highlights on actions in key sectors and the relevant *** milestones include the proportion of non-fossil power generation capacity surpassing coal-fired capacity for the first time,a decline in the production of crude steel and cement after years of growth,and the surging penetration of electric ***,in 2022,China issued the first national policy that synergizes abatements of pollution and carbon emissions,marking a new era for China's pollution-carbon *** changes highlight China's efforts to reshape its energy,economic,and transportation structures to meet the demand for synergetic control and sustainable ***,the country has witnessed a slowdown in carbon emission growth,improved air quality,and increased health benefits in recent years.

Development of SNP parentage assignment techniques in the yellowfin seabream Acanthopagrus latus

Acanthopagrus latus is an essential aquaculture species on the south coast of ***,there is a lack of systematic breeding of ***,which considerably limits the sustainable development of *** a result,genetic improvements are urgently needed to breed new strains of *** with rapid growth and strong resistance to *** selective breeding,it is necessary to estimate the genetic parameters of the target trait,which in turn depends on an accurate disentangled pedigree for the selective ***,it is necessary to establish the parentage assignment technique for *** this study,95 individuals selected from their parents and their 14 families were used as experimental *** were developed by genome resequencing,and highly polymorphic SNPs were screened on the basis of optimized filtering parameters.A total of 14392738 SNPs were discovered and 205 SNPs were selected for parentage assignment using the CERVUS *** the model where the gender of the parents is known,the assignment success rate is 98.61%for the male parent,97.22%for the female parent,and 95.83%for the parent *** the model where the gender of the parents is unknown,the assignment success rate is 100%for a single parent and 90.28%for the parent *** results of this study were expected to serve as a reference for the breeding of new varieties of ***.

Therapy for benign rectal anastomotic stricture after surgery for colorectal cancer: A systematic review

Aim: To evaluate various treatment methods for benign rectal anastomotic stricture (AS) following surgery for colorectal cancer. Method: A systematic review of the literature was conducted, focusing on studies that reported outcomes of different treatment modalities for benign AS. The PubMed, Embase, Scopus, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Cochrane Library databases were searched from January 2000 to December 2023. The inclusion criteria were studies involving human subjects, published in English, and reporting on therapeutic outcomes for benign AS. Results: A total of 19 papers identified a range of therapeutic strategies, including nonoperative anastomotic dilation, endoscopic balloon dilation (EBD), transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS), self-expandable metal stents (SEMS), endoscopic incision (EI) and newer techniques such as prostate resection instrumentation. Nonoperative anastomotic dilation can serve as an initial treatment for lower AS. EI demonstrated promise in cases where EBD was ineffective, providing an alternative method for managing AS. TAMIS and SEMS showed higher efficacy in refractory cases, with TAMIS being particularly effective for severe fibrotic or completely closed AS. The use of rigid instrumentation with an electric knife for transanal incisions demonstrated precision but lacked the flexibility needed for complex procedures. Conclusion: While traditional methods such as nonoperative anastomotic dilation and EBD remain first-line treatments for benign AS, advanced techniques such as EI, TAMIS, and SEMS offer promising alternatives, particularly in refractory cases. The choice of treatment should be tailored to individual patient conditions, with consideration for the technical expertise required and the potential for complications. © 2024 Zhejiang University

Physical property improvement of fluid shortening using peanut oil-based diacylglycerols and their applications in sponge cake

Fluid shortening is an important ingredient in the production of sponge cake. Peanut oil with 0, 43% and 85% of diacylglycerol content was used as the base oil. Different emulsifiers, such as glycerol monostearate, soy lecithin and sucrose ester, and their respective amounts, were investigated. It was found that the addition of emulsifiers had a positive effect on water-absorbing capacity, air-absorbing capacity and viscosity of the oils. Glycerol monostearate was the preferred emulsifier for fluid shortening with a recommended addition of 1.5%. The effects of different diacylglycerol content on fluid shortening and their impact on sponge cake production was also investigated. The onset oxidation temperature of the oil could be increased from 253.21 ℃ for PO-TAG-based fluid shortening to 263.70 ℃ for PO-DAG85-based fluid shortening. And the increase in diacylglycerol content leading to a lower specific gravity of the batter, which was 1.06 g/mL, 1.02 g/mL and 0.98 g/mL prepared by PO-DAG, PO-DAG43 and PO-DAG85 shortening, respectively. The results showed that diacylglycerols can be used as base oils in fluid shortening to improve the crystal network and stability of fluid shortenings, thereby reducing the specific gravity of the batter and improving the structural properties of the cake. This will extend the potential applications of diacylglycerols and increase the variety of base oils available for fluid shortening preparation.

Automated and miniaturized screening of antibiotic combinations via robotic-printed combinatorial droplet platform

Antimicrobial resistance(AMR)has become a global health crisis in need of novel *** this end,antibiotic combination therapies,which combine multiple antibiotics for treatment,have at-tracted significant attention as a potential approach for combating *** facilitate advances in anti-biotic combination therapies,most notably in investigating antibiotic interactions and identifying synergistic antibiotic combinations however,there remains a need for automated high-throughput plat-forms that can create and examine antibiotic combinations on-demand,at scale,and with minimal reagent *** address these challenges,we have developed a Robotic-Printed Combinatorial Droplet(RoboDrop)platform by integrating a programmable droplet microfuidic device that generates antibiotic combinations in nanoliter droplets in automation,a robotic arm that arranges the droplets in an array,and a camera that images the array of thousands of droplets in *** further implement a resazurin-based bacterial viability assay to accelerate our antibiotic combination *** a demonstration,we use RoboDrop to corroborate two pairs of antibiotics with known interactions and subsequently identify a new synergistic combination of cefsulodin,penicillin,and oxacillin against a model *** *** therefore envision RoboDrop becoming a useful tool to efficiently identify new synergistic antibiotic combinations toward combating AMR.

Background:Sanhua decoction has significant effects in the treatment of *** study of the Sanhua decoction material benchmark was carried out to analyze the value transfer relationship between the Chinese herbal pieces and the substance ***:Network pharmacology was employed to investigate the potential active components and molecular mechanisms of Sanhua decoction in the treatment of stroke.15 batches of Sanhua decoction lyophilized powder were prepared using traditional formulas and subjected to high-performance liquid chromatography analysis to generate fingerprints of the Sanhua decoction substance ***,a multi-component quantitative analysis method was established,allowing for the simultaneous determination of ten components,to study the transfer of quantity values between pieces and substance ***:60 active ingredients were screened from Sanhua decoction by network pharmacology,of which gallic acid,magnolol honokiol,physcion,and aloe-emodin may have a greater effect than other active components.63 key targets and 134 pathways were predicted as the potential mechanism of Sanhua decoction in treating *** fingerprint similarity of the Sanhua decoction substance benchmarks was found to be good among the 15 batches,confirming the 19 common *** content of the 10 components was basically *** components’transfer rates were within 30%of their respective ***:This study provided a comprehensive and reliable strategy for the quality evaluation of Sanhua decoction substance benchmarks and held significant importance in improving its application value.

The modulatory effect of oolong tea polyphenols on intestinal flora and hypothalamus gene expression in a circadian rhythm disturbance mouse model

The interaction between host circadian rhythm and gut microbes through the gut-brain axis provides new clues for tea polyphenols to improve host *** present research showed that oolong tea polyphenols(OTP)improved the structural disorder of the intestinal flora caused by continuous darkness,thereby modulating the production of metabolites related to pyruvate metabolism,glycolysis/gluconeogenesis,and tryptophan metabolism to alleviate the steady-state *** fecal microbiota transplantation from the OTP group,the single-cell transcriptomic analysis revealed that OTP significantly increased the number of hypothalamus cell clusters,up-regulated the number of astrocytes and fibroblasts,and enhanced the expression of circadian rhythm genes Cry2,Per3,Bhlhe41,Nr1d1,Nr1d2,Dbp and Rorb in hypothalamic *** results confirmed that OTP can actively improve the intestinal environmental state as well as internal/peripheral circadian rhythm disorders and cognitive impairment,with potential prebiotic functional characteristics to notably contribute to host health.
