Therapeutic Efficacy Observation on Mild Lifting and Superficial Pulling Point-towards-point Needling for Intractable Facial Palsy

Objective: To observe and compare the clinical effects of combining mild lifting and superficial pulling point-towards-point needling and point injection and integrated standard electroacupuncture(EA) with intramuscular injection of Mecobalamin for intractable facial palsy. Methods: Eighty cases with intractable facial palsy were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 40 in each group. Cases in the treatment group were treated with mild lifting and superficial pulling point-towards-point needling Xiaguan(ST 7) coupled with point injection of Mecobalamin. Cases in the control group were treated with standard EA coupled with intramuscular injection of Mecobalamin. After three courses of treatment, the between-group comparisons of Portmann scores and clinical effects were conducted. Results: After three courses of treatment, the Portmann scores in both groups were higher than the scores before treatment(Pbining mild lifting and superficial pulling point-towardspoint needling and point injection of Mecobalamin could obtain better effect for intractable facial palsy than standard EA coupled with intramuscular injection of Mecobalamin.

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of tuina in treating knee osteoarthritis(KOA). Methods: Forty-eight cases with KOA who met the inclusion criteria were enrolled and received tuina therapy. Visual analogue scale(VAS) was used to evaluate pain degree. VAS, range of motion(ROM) and Lysholm score were observed before and after intervention to evaluate the clinical efficacy. Results: After treatment, VAS score, ROM and Lysholm score were significantly improved, and the total effective rate was 87.5%. Conclusion: The therapeutic efficacy of tuina in treating KOA was reliable.

Objective： To observe the efficacy of tuina manipulations for fibromyalgia syndrome （FMS）. Methods： Sixty eligible FMS patients were randomized into two groups, 30 in each group. Patients in the observation group were intervened by tuina manipulations to the corresponding segment of the spine based on the detection of disorders of the spine-related bones and tendons; patients in the control group were directed to practice functional exercises. Before and after intervention, the fibromyalgia impact questionnaire （FIQ） and visual analogue scale （VAS） were adopted for evaluation. Results： After intervention, the FIQ and VAS scores dropped significantly in both groups （all P〈O.05）, and there were significant differences between the two groups （both P〈0.05）. The total effective rate was 86.7% in the observation group versus 63.3% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant （P〈0.05）. Conclusion： Spinal tuina manipulations are effective and safe in treating FMS, for significantly promoting the quality of life of the FMS patients.

Objective:To observe the therapeutic efficacy of acupoint application at different groups of acupoints in treating bronchial asthma in remission ***:A total of 120 patients with bronchial asthma in remission stage were recruited and divided by the random number table method into acupoint application group 1,acupoint application group 2 and acupoint application group 3,with 40 cases in each *** all the three groups,Tiantu(CV 22),Dazhui(GV 14)and Feishu(BL 13)were selected,with Dingchuan(EX-B 1)added in acupoint application group 1,Shenshu(BL 23)added in acupoint application group 2,and Gaohuang(BL 43)added in acupoint application group *** intervention,one month and 3 months after intervention,clinical symptoms,peak expiratory flow(PEF)and forced expiratory volume in 1 second percentage of predicted value(FEV1%)of the three groups were observed,and their clinical efficacies were ***:Comparing the therapeutic efficacy regarding traditional Chinese medicine symptoms and signs,after 1-month treatment,the total effective rate was 87.5%in acupoint application group 1,versus 62.5%in acupoint application group 2 and 55.0%in acupoint application group 3,and the between-group differences were statistically *** 3-month treatment,the total effective rate was 95.0%in acupoint application group 1,versus 70.0%in acupoint application group 2 and 65.0%in acupoint application group 3,and the between-group differences were statistically *** intervention,the three groups all showed significant improvements in pulmonary function with statistical significance;among the three groups,the improvement in acupoint application group 1 was more significant than that in the other two ***:Tiantu(CV 22),Dazhui(GV 14)and Feishu(BL 13)as basic prescription plus Dingchuan(EX-B 1)can improve symptoms of bronchial asthma in remission stage,and it works better in improving pulmonary function than the basic prescription plus Shen

Study on Burning Temperature Versus Time Graph of Moxa Sticks in a Novel Animal Moxibustion Device

Objective: To invent a novel animal experimentation moxa device and intend to solve temperature fluctuations during moxa stick burning in animal moxibustion test. Methods: Smokeless moxa sticks of 4 mm in diameter and 120 mm in length were selected in this trial. The target temperature was(47±1) ℃. The burning temperature versus time graph of moxa sticks during un-interfered time period were recorded when the distances between moxa sticks and thermometer were 2 mm, 3 mm and 4 mm respectively. In addition, the total lengths of burned moxa stick ashes within 0-5 min were recorded. Then the moxa stick burning temperature versus time graph after intervention was measured. Results: The maximum temperatures during test duration when the distances were 2 mm, 3 mm and 4 mm were(47.37±0.25) ℃,(42.62±2.05) ℃ and(35.50±0.40) ℃respectively the total lengths of burned ashes from 0-5 min were(5.1±0.08) mm,(12.17±0.44) mm,(14.8±0.31) mm,(17.25±0.17) mm and(19.82±0.67) mm respectively with a distance of 2 mm between a moxa stick and the testing area, remove 5 mm ashes every 2 min, then the maximum and minimum temperatures within 10 min were(48.37±0.47) ℃and(47.12±0.25) ℃, showing no statistical significance(P=0.12). Conclusion: The novel animal experimentation moxa device can help to maintain relatively constant moxa stick burning temperature during test period.

Clinical Study on Acupoint Injection plus Acupuncture for Insomnia Due to Heart-kidney Disharmony

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of acupoint injection at Neiguan(PC 6) plus acupuncture in treating insomnia due to heart-kidney disharmony. Methods: A hundred patients with insomnia due to heart-kidney disharmony were randomized into an observation group and a control group. Fifty-three cases in the observation group were intervened by acupoint injection at Neiguan(PC 6) plus acupuncture; while 54 cases in the control group were intervened by acupuncture alone. The Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI) was evaluated before and after intervention, and the therapeutic efficacies of the two groups were compared. Results: Acupoint injection at Neiguan(PC 6) plus acupuncture produced significantly higher efficacies in improving sleep quality, shortening sleep latency, and enhancing sleep efficiency than acupuncture alone(P<0.05).Conclusion: The two groups both can improve the condition of insomnia; acupoint injection at Neiguan(PC 6) has significant advantages, manifested by a higher therapeutic efficacy for insomnia due to heart-kidney disharmony, higher safety evaluation, efficiency, and less adverse events, thus proper for clinical application.

Warm needling moxibustion plus functional exercises for knee osteoarthritis

Objective： To observe the clinical efficacy of warm needling moxibustion plus functional exercises in treating knee osteoarthritis（KOA）. Methods： Totally 108 eligible KOA patients were intervened by warm needling moxibustion plus functional exercises. The warm needling moxibustion was given 3 times a week, successively for 4 weeks. The visual analogue scale（VAS） was adopted to evaluate the pain intensity of the knee joint. After 4-week treatment, the change of VAS score, range of motion（ROM） of knee, and Lysholm score were observed, and the clinical efficacy was also estimated. Results： After treatment, the VAS score dropped obviously, and the ROM and Lysholm score increased markedly; the total effective rate was 83.3%. Conclusion： Warm needling moxibustion plus functional exercises is effective in treating KOA, as it can relieve the knee joint pain and improve the joint motion.

Co-occurrence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, heavy metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and their composite impacts on microbial consortium in soil: A field study

This is the first study to report the co-occurrence of per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances(PFASs),heavy metals,and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)and their impacts on the native microbial consortium in soil due to the long-term *** PFASs,heavy metals,and PAHs were detected in soil samples collected at 2–6 m below the ground surface at different sampling locations in a steel-making *** total concentrations of PFASs varied from 6.55 to 19.79 ng g^(-1),with perfluorooctane sulfonate(PFOS),perfluorobutane sulfonate,and 6:2 chlorinated polyfluorinated ether sulfonate(alternative of PFOS)being the predominant *** concentrations of arsenic,cadmium,and lead were detected in the ranges of 4.40–1270.00,0.01–8.67,and 18.00–647.00 mg kg^(-1),respectively,and the concentration of total PAHs was detected in the range of 1.02–131.60 mg kg^(-1).The long-term exposure to mixed contaminants of PFASs,heavy metals,and PAHs led to lower richness and diversity of microbial communities in *** soil bacterial communities were mainly composed of Pseudomonas,norank_p_GAL15,Leptothrix,norank_o_Rokubacteriales,and *** between soil environmental factors and microbial communities indicated that cation exchange capacity and total phosphorus were two key factors in shaping the composition of native microbial ***,Arthrobacter,Leptothrix,and Sphingobium were found to be significantly positively correlated with PFAS concentrations,indicating that these genera could tolerate the stress exerted by PFASs,along with the stress imposed due to the presence of heavy metals or/and PAHs.
