A monolithic molecularly imprinted polymer with specific recognition ability for 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (4-HBA) was prepared by in situ photopolymerization, using methacrylic acid (MAA) as a functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EDMA) as a cross-linking agent, toluene and isooctane as porogenic solvents and Irgacure 1800 as an initiator. Baseline separation of isomers of hydroxybenzoic acid was achieved in less than 8 min on this monolithic column using 4-HBA as template, but not on the blank polymer. Furthermore, some neutral compounds could also be baseline-separated on the imprinted polymer column in the mode of pressure-driven capillary electrochromatography.

A detailed chemical study on the Hainan soft coral Sinularia crass has resulted in the isolation and characterization of eleven cas-bane-type diterpenoids,named sinucrassins A-K(1-11),along with six known related ones(12-17).Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analyses and comparison with the reported *** absolute configurations of new compounds were determi ned by the X-ray diffracti on analysis and computer-assisted structural elucidati on in eluding 13C NMR data calculati on and time-dependent density functional theory/electronic circular dichroism calculation.

Nanoparticles with high surface energy and chemical activity have drawn substantial attention in petroleum industry. Recently, Janus nanoparticles exhibited tremendous potential in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) due to their asymmetric structures and properties. In this study, a series of amphiphilic pseudo-Janus@OTAB (PJ@C18) nanoparticles with different concentrations of stearyltrimethylammoium bromide (OTAB) were successfully fabricated. The structures and properties of PJ@C18 were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and ζ-potential measurements. Based on the emulsification experimental results, the interaction models and the self-assembly behavior between hydrophilic nanoparticles (SiO_(2)@NH_(2)) and OTAB molecules at the oil/water interface were proposed, which was further confirmed via the measurements of the contact angle and dynamic interfacial tension. Interestingly, it was found that the change of pH value from 7.5 to 4.0 caused the type reversal of the PJ@C18-1000 stabilized Pickering emulsions. Furthermore, the PJ@C18-1000 stabilized Pickering emulsion system with excellent salt and temperature tolerances (10000 mg∙L^(–1), 90℃) significantly improved the oil recovery in the single-tube (more than 17%) and double-tube (more than 25%) sand pack model flooding tests. The findings of this study could help to better understand the construction mechanism of pseudo-Janus silica/surfactant assembly and the potential application of PJ@C18-1000 stabilized Pickering emulsions for EOR.

Maize(Zea mays L.) yield depends not only on the conversion and accumulation of carbohydrates in kernels, but also on the supply of carbohydrates by leaves. However, the carbon metabolism process in leaves can vary across different leaf regions and during the day and night. Hence, we used Weighted Gene Co-expression Network analysis(WGCNA) with the gene expression profiles of carbon metabolism to identify the modules and genes that may associate with particular regions in a leaf and time of day. There were a total of 45 samples of maize leaves that were taken from three different regions of a growing maize leaf at five time points. Robust Multi-array Average analysis was used to pre-process the raw data of GSE85963(accession number), and quality control of data was based on Pearson correlation coefficients. We obtained eight co-expression network modules. The modules with the highest significance of association with LeafRegion and TimePoint were selected. Functional enrichment and gene-gene interaction analyses were conducted to acquire the hub genes and pathways in these significant modules. These results can support the findings of similar studies by providing evidence of potential module genes and enriched pathways associated with leaf development in maize.

Clinical effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine diet therapy on bone marrow suppression after chemotherapy: a meta-analysis

OBJECITVES: Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) diet therapy is a therapy that uses medicines with the same source of medicine and food as well as dishes composed of nutritious foods to help patients recover and improve their resistance. This meta-analysis focuses on the clinical efficacy of (TCM) diet therapy on bone marrow suppression after chemotherapy. We hypothesize that TCM diet therapy can alleviate bone marrow suppression in patients. METHODS: Computer search was conducted on Cochrane Library， Embase， Web of science， PubMed， CNKI， VIP， and Wanfang Data database from the establishment of the database to September 2020. Randomized controlled trials (RCT) of the clinical efficacy of TCM diet therapy in patients with bone marrow suppression are collected. Two investigators independently screened the literature according to the inclusion criteria， extracted data， and evaluated the risk of bias in the included studies by using ROB2.0. Then， RevMan5.3 software was used to perform meta-analysis， while GRADEpro was used to evaluate the level of evidence of the outcome indicators. RESULTS: Ten RCTs and 837 patients were included. Meta-analysis results show that compared with conventional diet care， the TCM diet therapy group can more effectively treat bone marrow suppression after chemotherapy for malignant tumors. It can also increase the counts of white blood cells， red blood cells， platelets， hemoglobin (MD=0.56， 95%CI=0.23–0.89， P=0.0009; MD=0.29， 95%CI=0.19–0.40， P<0.00001; MD=29.64， 95%CI=25.97–33.31， P<0.00001; SMD=0.86， 95%CI =0.25–1.47， P=0.006)， and other blood cells and improve the quality of life of patients (RR=1.28， 95%CI =1.09–1.51， P=0.003). The difference is statistically significant. The GRADE quality evaluation showed that among the outcome indicators， white blood cells， red blood cells， platelets， hemoglobin， hematocrit， and quality of life were moderate evidence that the albumin count was low， and the proportion of neutrophils was very low. AIM: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of gemcitabine-oxaliplatin (GEMOX) combined with huachansu (cinobufagin) injection treatment in patients with locally advanced or metastatic gallbladder carcinoma (GBC), and to assess the quality of life (QOL) of such patients. METHODS: Twenty-fi ve patients with locally advanced or metastatic GBC were treated with intravenous gemcitabine (1000 mg/m2) over 30 min on days 1 and 8, 2 h infusion of oxaliplatin (120 mg/m2) on day 1, and 2-3 h infusion of huachansu (20 mL/m2) on days -3-11, every 3-4 wk. Treatment was continued until occurrence of unacceptable toxicity or disease progression. QOL of patients was assessed by the EORTC QLQ-C30 at baseline, at the end of the fi rst, third and sixth chemotherapy cycles, and 1 mo after the treatment. RESULTS: Among the 25 patients with a median age of 64 years (range 42-78 years), 23 were evaluable in the study. A total of 137 cycles of therapy were performed and the median cycle was 5 (range 1-8) per patient. Out of the 23 patients whose response couldbe evaluated, 8 partial responses (PR) were observed (34.8%), while 7 patients (30.4%) demonstrated a stable disease (SD). The disease control rate was 65.2%. Progression of cancer was observed in 8 (34.8%) patients. The median progression-free and overall survival time was 5.8 mo (95% CI: 4.5-7.1 mo) and 10.5 mo, respectively. The therapy was well tolerated, with moderate myelosuppression as the main toxicity. Anemia grade 2 was seen in 16.0%, neutropenia grade 3 in 8.0% and thrombocytopenia grade 3 in 24.0% of patients, respectively. Non-hematologic toxicity ranged from mild to moderate. No death occurred due to toxicity. The QOL of patients was improved after chemotherapy, and the scores of QOL were increased by 10 to 20 points. CONCLUSION: GEMOX combined with huachansu (cinobufagin) injection is well tolerated, effective, thus improving the QOL of patients with advanced GBC.
