Influence of local anesthesia on the outcomes of non-surgical periodontal treatment

Background:There is limited evidence of the effects of local anesthesia(LA)on outcomes of non-surgical periodontal treatment(NSPT),in particular among the *** retrospective cohort study aimed to evaluate the effects of LA on short-term treatment outcomes of NSPT and to determine under what circumstances LA should be prescribed to improve these ***:Data from periodontal examinations of 3980 patients were *** data were from 3-month re-evaluation records of an electronic periodontal charting record system in the Department of Periodontology of Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology from June 2008 to January *** analyses included changes in probing depth(PD)and the Mazza bleeding index(BI).Two-level(patient and tooth)logistic regression models and three-level(patient,tooth,and site)linear regression models were constructed to analyze the influence of LA on PD for all teeth/sites and teeth/sites with an initial PD≥5 *** in PD and BI at sites under LA using the initial PD were also ***:A significantly higher mean decrease in PD after NSPT was found in the LA group than in the no local anesthesia(NLA)group(0.98 vs.0.54 mm,t=24.12,P1 and BI>2)for all teeth(16.7%vs.13.8%,t=3.75,P<0.001;34.7%vs.28.1%,t=6.73,P<0.001)and PD for teeth with PD≥5mm(32.3%vs.17.3%,t=28.48,P<0.001).The difference in PD between the LA and NLA groups increased as the initial PD *** difference between the two groups was 0.12 to 0.22 mm for sites with a baseline PD<7 mm;however,it increased to 0.41 to 1.37 mm for sites with a baseline PD≥7 ***:LA improved the decrease in PD after *** debridement at sites with initial PD≥7 mm should be performed under routine LA.

Ammonia-induced CuO/13X for H_(2)S removal from simulated blast furnace gas at low temperature

Blast furnace gas(BFG)is an important by-product energy for the iron and steel industry and has been widely used for heating or electricity ***,the undesirable contaminants in BFG(especially H_(2)S)generate harmful environmental *** desulfurization of BFG is urgent for integrated steel plants due to the stringent ultra-low emission *** with other desulfurization materials,zeolite-based adsorbents represent a viable option with low costs and long service *** this study,an ammonia-induced CuO modified 13X adsorbent(NH3–CuO/13X)was prepared for H_(2)S removal from simulated BFG at low *** XRD,H_(2)-TPR and TEM analysis proved that smaller CuO particles were formed and the dispersion of Cu on the surface of 13X zeolite was improved via the induction of *** on H_(2)S adsorption performance of the adsorbent was carried out using simulated BFG,and the results showed that NH3–CuO/13X-3 has better breakthrough sulfur capacity,which was more than twice the sulfur capacity of CuO/*** is proposed that the enhanced desulfurization performance of NH3–CuO/13X is attributed to an abundant pore of 13X,and combined action of 13X and *** work provided an effective way to improve the sulfur capacity of zeolite-based adsorbents via impregnation method by ammonia induction.

Optimizing the key parameter to accelerate the recovery of AMOC under a rapid increase of greenhouse gas forcing

Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation(AMOC)plays a central role in long-term climate variations through its heat and freshwater transports,which can collapse under a rapid increase of greenhouse gas forcing in climate *** studies have suggested that the deviation of model parameters is one of the major factors in inducing inaccurate AMOC *** this work,with a low-resolution earth system model,the authors try to explore whether a reasonable adjustment of the key model parameter can help to re-establish the AMOC after its *** a new optimization strategy,the extra freshwater flux(FWF)parameter is determined to be the dominant one affecting the AMOC’s *** traditional ensemble optimal interpolation(EnOI)data assimilation and new machine learning methods are adopted to optimize the FWF parameter in an abrupt 4×CO_(2) forcing experiment to improve the adaptability of model parameters and accelerate the recovery of *** results show that,under an abrupt 4×CO_(2) forcing in millennial simulations,the AMOC will first collapse and then re-establish by the default FWF parameter ***,during the parameter adjustment process,the saltier and colder sea water over the North Atlantic region are the dominant factors in usefully improving the adaptability of the FWF parameter and accelerating the recovery of AMOC,according to their physical relationship with FWF on the interdecadal timescale.

In the intricate process of natural product biosynthesis, a metabolon can enhance metabolic flux by associating sequential enzymes. A fungal metabolon, comprising of flavin-dependent monooxygenase Spe F and P450 monooxygenase Spe G, is identified in the biosynthesis of spiro polycyclic alkaloids(+)-notoamide B and its diastereomer(+)-versicolamide B. Using notoamide E as a substance, Spe F/Spe G metabolon can control the stereoselectivity of its 2,3-epoxidation, followed by hydrogen atom ion at C-17 to generate reactive epoxide tau-m A with dienyl iminium unit. Subsequently,(+)-notoamide B and(+)-versicolamide B are produced via tandem nonenzymatic inverse-electron-demand Diels-Alder reaction and semipinacol rearrangement. This provides the first example of metabolon in the biosynthesis of spiro-prenylated indole alkaloids.

Microstructural evolution and aging behavior of Mg-4.5Y-2.5Nd-1.0Gd-0.5Zr alloys with different Zn additions

Microstructures and mechanical properties of Mg-4.5 Y-2.5 Nd-1.0 Gd-0.5 Zr-xZn(x=0,0.5,1.0,and 1.5;wt%)alloys under as-cast and peak-aged states were investigated in this *** results indicate that the intermetallic phase components are closely dependent on Zn *** as-cast state,the dominant eutectic phase is Mg5 RE in the alloys with 0 wt%and 0.5 wt%Zn additions while Mg5 RE,18 R-and 14 H-LPSO(long period stacking ordered)phases in the alloys with 1.0 wt%and1.5 wt%Zn *** solution and peak-aging,the highest strength and hardness were obtained on the alloy with 0.5 wt%Zn *** electron microscopy(TEM)characterizations revealed that there are denser and finer precipitates on basal(β’)and prismatic(γ’)planes,***,the excellent mechanical performance of the alloy with 0.5 wt%Zn addition is mainly due to precipitation strengthening and grain boundary strengthening.

Microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg–Zn–(Nd)–Zr alloys with different extrusion processes

The effect of Nd addition and the influence of extrusion processes on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-6Zn-0.5Zr（ZK60） and Mg-6Zn-1.5Nd-0.5Zr（ZKNd602） alloys were investigated. Nd element can obviously refine the microstructure of both as-cast and asextruded Mg-Zn-Nd-Zr alloy. All of the extruded alloys exhibit a bimodal grain structure composed of equiaxedfine recrystallized（DRXed） grains and elongated coarse un DRXed grains. It is necessary to achieve high strength,particularly the yield strength, for ZKNd602 alloy, when it is extruded with a lower extrusion temperature, a suitable extrusion ratio and a relatively lower extrusion ram speed. In this study, the ultimate tensile strength（UTS）,yield strength（YS） and elongation（El） of the extruded ZKNd602 alloy were 421 MPa, 402 MPa and 6.7 %,respectively, with extrusion temperature of 290 °C, extrusion ratio of 18：1 and a ram speed of approximate0.4 mm·s^（-1）. Meanwhile, the extrusion process has obvious effects on the room-temperature properties but weak effects on the high-temperature properties.

Intercritical Rolling Induced Ultrafine Lamellar Structure and Enhanced Mechanical Properties of Medium-Mn Steel

The medium-Mn steel with ferrite and austenite structure was rolled in the intercritical region down to dif- ferent rolling reduction. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the rolled steels were investigated by scan- ning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and tensile tests. It was found that the ferrite and austenite structure gradually evolved into an ultrafine structure from the random directional lath structure to lamellar structure with lath longitudinal direction parallel to the rolling direction with increasing rolling strain. It was found that the thickness of the laths was gradually refined with increasing rolling strain. The lath thickness is about 0. 15 9m stored with high density dislocations and the austenite volume fraction of the steel is about 24% after 80% rolling reduction. Furthermore, it was interesting to find that yield strength, tensile strength and total elongation of the 80% rolled medium-Mn steel are about 1000 MPa, 1250 MPa and 24%, respectively, demonstrating an excellent combination of the strength and ductility. Based on the microstructure examination, it was proposed that the grain refinement of the medium-Mn steels could be attributed to the duplex structure and the low rolling temperature. Analysis of the relationship between the microstructure and the mechanical properties indicated that the high yield strength mainly resulted from the ultrafine grain size and the high density dislocation, but the improved ductili- ty may be attributed to the large fractions of austenite retained after intercritical rolling.

Kinematics-based four-state trajectory tracking control of a spherical mobile robot driven by a 2-DOF pendulum

Spherical mobile robot has compact structure, remarkable stability, and flexible motion,which make it have many advantages over traditional mobile robots when applied in those unmanned environments, such as outer planets. However, spherical mobile robot is a special highly under-actuated nonholonomic system, which cannot be transformed to the classic chained form. At present, there has not been a kinematics-based trajectory tracking controller which could track both the position states and the attitude states of a spherical mobile robot. In this paper, the four-state(two position states and two attitude states) trajectory tracking control of a type of spherical mobile robot driven by a 2-DOF pendulum was studied. A controller based on the shunting model of neurodynamics and the kinematic model was deduced, and its stability was demonstrated with Lyapunov’s direct method. The control priorities of the four states were allocated according to the magnification of each state tracking error in order to firstly ensure the correct tracking of the position states. The outputs(motor speeds) of the controller were regulated according to the maximum speeds and the maximum accelerations of the actuation motors in order to solve the speed jump problem caused by initial state errors, and continuous and bounded outputs were obtained. The effectiveness including the anti-interference ability of the proposed trajectory tracking controller was verified through MATLAB simulations.

The cyclic soft stimulation(CSS)is a new method of reservoir reforming for which the mechanism of fracturing crack propagation is ambiguous with regard to the alternating fluid *** study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the fracturing mechanical characterizations of CSS under different magnitudes and amplitudes of the alternating fluid *** emission(AE)is recorded to investigate the damage evolution under CSS based on the b value analysis of *** results reveal the difference of pressure in a crack under different cyclic fluid pressure *** AE results show that the maximum radiated energy under CSS tends to be reduced with the increase in the amplitude and magnitude of the alternating fluid *** finishing crucial touch is that the crack extending criterion under CSS is proposed,which combines the injection parameters,the rock properties and in-situ *** to the crack extending criterion,the fluctuation fluid pressure causes the reduction of a critical crack extending pressure,and the CSS causes the crack to initiate and propagate under low fluid *** a higher-value magnitude of alternating fluid pressure,the cyclic times of CSS is less for the crack *** supplement to the crack extending criterion,a distinct relationship between the radiated energy and the cyclic fluid pressure also is established based on the energy dissipation *** new findings provide an insight into the determination of crack extending criterion under CSS for efficiently implementing shale fracturing.

We find an exact formula of Gelfand-Kirillov dimensions for the infinite-dimensional explicit irreducible sl（n,F）-modules that appeared in the Z2-graded oscillator generalizations of the classical theorem on harmonic polynomials established by Luo and Xu. Three infinite subfamilies of these modules have the minimal Gelfand-Kirillov dimension.
