A DNA tetrahedron-based ferroptosis-suppressing nanoparticle: superior delivery of curcumin and alleviation of diabetic osteoporosis

Diabetic osteoporosis(DOP)is a significant complication that poses continuous threat to the bone health of patients with diabetes;however,currently,there are no effective treatment *** patients with diabetes,the increased levels of ferroptosis affect the osteogenic commitment and differentiation of bone mesenchymal stem cells(BMScs),leading to significant skeletal *** address this issue,we aimed to target ferroptosis and propose a novel therapeutic approach for the treatment of *** synthesized ferroptosis-suppressing nanoparticles,which could deliver curcumin,a natural compound,to the bone marrow using tetrahedral framework nucleic acid(tFNA).This delivery system demonstrated excellent curcumin bioavailability and stability,as well as synergistic properties with *** in vitro and in vivo experiments revealed that nanoparticles could enhance mitochondrial function by activating the nuclear factor E2-related factor 2(NRF2)/glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4)pathway,inhibiting ferroptosis,promoting the osteogenic differentiation of BMScs in the diabetic microenvironment,reducing trabecular loss,and increasing bone *** findings suggest that curcumin-containing DNA tetrahedron-based ferroptosissuppressing nanoparticles have a promising potential for the treatment of DOP and other ferroptosis-related diseases.

Troy: Effic.ent Service Deployment for Windows Systems

The modern university computer lab and kindergarden through 12th grade classrooms require a centralized solution to effic.ently manage a large number of desktops. The existing solutions either bring virtualization overhead in runtime or requires loading a large image over 30 GB leading to an unacceptable network latency. In this work, we propose Troy which takes advantage of the differencing virtual hard disk techniques in Windows *** such, Troy only loads the modifications made on one machine to all other machines. Troy consists of two modules that are responsible to generate an initial image and merge a differencing image with its parent image, respectively. Specifically, we identify the key fields in the virtual hard disk image that links the differencing image and the parent image and find the modified blocks in the differencing images that should be used to replace the blocks in the parent image. We further design a lazy copy solution to reduce the I/O burden in image merging. We have implemented Troy on bare metal machines. The evaluation results show that the performance of Troy is comparable to the native implementation in Windows, without requiring the Windows environment.

Molecular mechanism of Xuebijing in treating pyogenic liver abscess complicated with sepsis

BAcKGROUND:Xuebijing(XBJ)can alleviate the inflammatory response,improve organ function,and shorten the intensive care unit(IcU)stay in patients with pyogenic liver abscess(PLA)complicated with sepsis,but the molecular mechanisms have not been *** study aimed to explore the molecular mechanism of XBJ in treating PLA complicated with sepsis using a network pharmacology ***:The active ingredients and targets of XBJ were retrieved from the ETcM *** targets related to PLA and sepsis were retrieved from the Genecards,PharmGKB,DisGenet,Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man(OMIM),Therapeutic Targets Database(TTD),and DrugBank *** targets of PLA complicated with sepsis were mapped to the targets of XBJ to identify potential treatment ***-protein interaction networks were analyzed using the STRING *** treatment targets were imported into the Metascape platform for Gene Ontology(GO)functional enrichment and Kyoto encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)pathway enrichment *** docking was performed to validate the interactions between active ingredients and core ***:XBJ was found to have 54 potential treatment targets for PLA complicated with ***-1β(IL-1β),interleukin-6(IL-6),and tumor necrosis factor(TNF)were identifi ed as core *** enrichment analysis revealed important pathways,including the interleukin-17(IL-17)signaling pathway,the TNF signaling pathway,the nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)signaling pathway,and the Toll-like receptor(TLR)signaling *** docking experiments indicated stable binding between XBJ active ingredients and core ***:XBJ may exert therapeutic eff ects on PLA complicated with sepsis by modulating signaling pathways,such as the IL-17,TNF,NF-κB,and TLR pathways,and targeting IL-1β,IL-6,and TNF.

Effect of Molecular Weight on Thermoelectric Performance of P3HT Analogues with 2-Propoxyethyl Side chains

By replacing hexyl chains in poly(3-hexylthiophene)(P3HT)with 2-propoxyethyls,four poly(3-(2-propoxyethyl)thiophene)(P3POET)homopolymers with comparable polydispersity indexes(PDI)and regioregularities were prepared herein in addition with step increment of about 7 kDa on numberaverage molecular weight(M_(n))from around 11 to 32 kDa(accordingly denoted as P11k,P18k,P25k,and P32k).When doped in film by Fecl_(3)at the optimized conditions,the maximum power factor(PF_(max))increases greatly from 4.3μW·m^(-1)·K^(-2)for P11k to 8.8μW·m^(-1)·K^(-2)for P18k,and further to 9.7μW·m^(-1)·K^(-2)for P25k,followed by a slight decrease to 9.2μW·m^(-1)·K^(-2)for *** close Seebeck coeffic.ents(S)at PF_(max)are observed in these doped polymer films due to their consistent frontier orbital energy levels and Fermi *** main contribution to this PF_(max)evolution thus comes from the corresponding conductivities(σ).Theσvariation of the doped films can be rationally correlated with their microstructure evolution.

Synergistically enhanced dielectric, insulating and thermally conductive performances of sandwich PMMA based dielectric films

A tri-layered(B-G-B) dielectric films were simply prepared by alternatively spin-coating boron nitride/polymethylmethacrylate(BN/PMMA, B) and graphene nanosheets(GNS/PMMA, G) compound solutions. The structure, morphology, thermal conductivity, and particularly the dielectric and relaxation behaviors were systematically studied. Results showed that a good exfoliation and dispersion of BN and GNS can be simply achieved through intensive mechanical compounding with PMMA in the internal mixer. The dielectric constant and breakdown strength of the obtained 1-3-1(B-G-B) sandwich composite film reached 4.3(@1 kHz) and 458.6kV/mm, being 119 % and 113 % higher than that of pure PMMA, respectively. Furthermore, the overall thermal conductivity of sandwich 1-3-1 composite increased by 112 % due to the addition of thermally conductive BN and GNS. The sandwich design strategy provided an effective way of achieving good permittivity, high insulation, and improved thermal conductivity simultaneously, showing potential applications in the miniaturization and integration of electronic devices.

Maxillary protrusion combined with mandibular retraction is a highly prevalent but extremely complex maxillofacial deformity that can have a serious negative impact on patients’facial aesthetics and mental *** traditional orthodontic treatment strategy often involves extracting 4 first premolars and conventional fixed techniques,combined with mini-implant screws,to retract the anterior teeth and improve facial *** recent years,an invisible orthodontic technique,without brackets,has become increasingly ***,while an invisible aligner has been used in some cases with reasonable results,there remain significant challenges in achieving a perfect *** case report presents an adolescent patient with bimaxillary protrusion and mandibular *** on the characteristics of the invisible aligners and the growth characteristics of the adolescent’s teeth and jawbone,we designed precise three-dimensional tooth movement and corresponding resistance/over-correction for each tooth,while utilizing the patient’s jawbone growth potential to promote rapid development of the mandible,accurately and effic.ently correcting bimaxillary protrusion and skeletal mandibular *** patient’s facial aesthetics,especially the lateral morphology,have been greatly improved,and various aesthetic indicators have also shown significant changes,and to the patient’s great benefit,invasive mini-implant screws were not used during the *** case highlights the advantages of using invisible aligners in adolescent maxillary protrusion combined with mandibular retraction ***,comprehensive and accurate design combined with good application of growth potential can also enable invisible orthodontic technology to achieve perfect treatment effects in tooth extractions,providing clinical guidance for orthodontists.

Titanium dioxide(TiO_(2))hollow nanoparticles present significant potential for photocatalytic applications while their straightforward preparation with precise structure control is still *** work reports the approach to preparing tunable hollow TiO_(2) nanospheres by utilization of spherical polyelectrolyte brushes(SPB)as nanoreactors and *** the preparation,the evolution of the structure was characterized by small angle X-ray scattering(SAXS),and in combination with dynamic light scattering and transmission electron *** formation of TiO_(2) shell within the brush(SPB@TiO_(2))is confirmed by the significant increase of the electron density,and its internal structure has been analyzed by fitting SAXS data,which can be influenced by Titanium precursors and ammonia *** calcining SPB@TiO_(2) in a muffle furnace,hollow TiO_(2) nanospheres are produced,and their transition to the anatase crystal form is triggered,as confirmed by X-ray diffraction *** the advantages of their hollow structure,these TiO_(2) nanospheres exhibit exceptional catalytic degradation effic.ency of methylene blue(MB),tetracycline(Tc),and 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid(2,4-D),and also demonstrate excellent recyclability.

Large porewater exchange reshapes saltmarsh carbon and greenhouse gas budgets on local and global scales

Saltmarshes are carbon-rich ecosystems that play a role in climate regulation by effic.ently sequestrating atmospheric cO_(2).climate change is a major threat to saltmarshes and will impact saltmarsh carbon ***,porewater-derived carbon outwelling emerges as a crucial pathway for carbon sequestration,but it has been largely overlooked in ***,we assessed the drivers of dissolved carbon exports and greenhouse gas emissions in a saltmarsh and placed those observations into a global *** our study site,porewater exchange(PEX)was the major process controlling dissolved carbon and greenhouse gas *** our results with 33 other studies in saltmarshes worldwide,porewater-derived carbon fluxes were equivalent to~48% of average global saltmarsh primary productivity and 2.2 times greater than global organic carbon ***,our local observations and global upscaling demonstrate the major role played by PEX in saltmarsh carbon *** part of dissolved inorganic carbon returns to the atmosphere as cO_(2),the remaining bicarbonate fraction is stored in the ocean over long time *** findings strengthen global blue carbon assessments and build arguments for the use of saltmarshes as nature-based solutions for global climate change.
