Objective： To examine the apoptotic effect of ent-llα-hydroxy-15-oxo-kaur-16-en-19-oic-acid （5F）, a compound isolated from Pteris semipinnata L （PsL）, in human lung cancer A549 cells. Methods： A549 cells were treated with 5F （0-80 lag/ml） for different time periods. Cytotoxicity was examined using a Ml-I- method. Cell cycle was examined using propidium iodide staining. Apoptosis was examined using Hoechst 33258 staining, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA） and caspase-3 activity analysis. Expression of representative apoptosis-related proteins was evaluated by Western blot analysis. Reactive oxygen species （ROS） level was measured using standard protocols. Potential interaction of 5F with cisplatin was also examined. Results： 5F inhibited the proliferation of A549 cells in a concentration- and time-dependent manner. 5F increased the accumulation of cells in sub-G1 phase and arrested the cells in the G2 phase. Exposure to 5F induced morphological changes and DNA fragmentation that are characteristic of apoptosis. The expression of p21 was increased. 5F exposure also increased Bax expression, release of cytochrome c and apoptosis inducing factor （AIF）, and activation of caspase-3. 5F significantly sensitized the cells to cisplatin toxicity. Interestingly, treatment with 5F did not increase ROS, but reduced ROS production induced by cisplatin. Conclusion： 5F could inhibit the proliferation of A549 cells by arresting the cells in G2 phase and by inducing mitochondrial-mediated apoptosis.

This study analyzed ambient seismic noise using the MSNoise package to monitor temporal changes in the underground seismic wave velocity in Mining Area 6 of the Dongtan Coal Mine in *** data was recorded continuously over 76 days by 7 three-component stations and 10 single-component microseismic stations deployed in Dongtan Coal Mine,with station spacing ranging from 0.1 km to approximately 3 *** the causal and non-causal components of the Z-component cross-correlation function,along with moving-window cross-spectrum analysis and cumulative calculations with a 5-day window overlay,stable seismic velocity changes were obtained in the frequency band of 0.1 to 2 *** found a correlation between the timing of average velocity changes and seismic events caused by underground mining *** particular,when the relative seismic velocity increased by 0.23%,larger energy minequakes typically *** study shows that ambient noise correlation has great potential for predicting minequakes,guiding pressure-relief production,and providing warnings about the impact of overburden pressure.

Nigella sativa L. seeds have been traditionally utilized in Chinese folk medicine for centuries to treat vitiligo. This study revealed that the ethanolic extract of Nigella sativa L.(HZC) enhances melanogenesis and mitigates oxidative stress-induced cellular senescence and dysfunction in melanocytes. In accordance with established protocols, the ethanol fraction from Nigella sativa L. seeds was extracted, concentrated, and lyophilized to evaluate its herbal effects via 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT) assays, tyrosinase activity evaluation, measurement of cellular melanin contents, scratch assays, senescence-associated β-galactosidase(SA-β-gal) staining, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA), and Western blot analysis for expression profiling of experimentally relevant proteins. The results indicated that HZC significantly enhanced tyrosinase activity and melanin content while notably increasing the protein expression levels of Tyr, Mitf, and gp100 in B16F10 cells. Furthermore, HZC effectively mitigated oxidative stress-induced cellular senescence, improved melanocyte condition, and rectified various functional impairments associated with melanocyte dysfunction. These findings suggest that HZC increases melanin synthesis in melanocytes through the activation of the MAPK, PKA, and Wnt signaling *** addition, HZC attenuates oxidative damage induced by H2O2 therapy by activating the nuclear factor E2-related factor 2-antioxidant response element(Nrf2-ARE) pathway and enhancing the activity of downstream antioxidant enzymes, thus preventing premature senescence and dysfunction in melanocytes.

The effect of particle shape on the impact of dry granular flow remains an open area for further investigation. Five distinct particle shapes were examined in this study using discrete element simulations after calibrating the numerical model using a published work. The findings indicated that the particle shape had a significant influence on granular mobility. With negligible variations in normalized kinetic energy between particles of different shapes， the effect of particle shape on the increasing rate of kinetic energy became more obvious. All irregular particle scenarios had longer accumulated particle lengths down the channel than spherical particles. Variations in particle shape led to adjustments in the distribution of impact forces on the barrier. These findings substantially enhance our understanding of the distinctive effects of particle shapes on the impact mechanism of dry granular flow.

Due to the influence of quantum confinementeffect, two-dimensional (2D) materials like graphene exhibitunique and exceptional properties, highlighting the significance of low-dimensional materials in fundamental research and practical applications. This has led to highexpectations for one-dimensional (1D) atomic chain materialswith even lower dimensions. Compared with 2D materials,single 1D atomic chains reach their physical limits in bothdimensions, resulting in a more pronounced quantum confinement effect that gives rise to unexpected physical phenomena and will establish a new field for exploration. Herein,we review the emerging field concerning 1D van der Waals(vdW) atomic chains. We first summarize the various typesand structures of their bulk of the 1D vdW materials. Subsequently,we discuss the methods employed for their preparation and characterization. Finally, we analyze the challengesfaced during the development of 1D atomic chains and provide prospects for their future development.
