Characteristic stress variation and microcrack evolution of granite subjected to uniaxial compression using acoustic emission methods

The size of mineral grain has a significant impact on the initiation and propagation of microcracks within *** this study,fine-,medium-,and coarse-grained granites were used to investigate microcrack evolution and characteristic stress under uniaxial compression using the acoustic emission(AE),digital image correlation(DIC),and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)*** experimental results show that the characteristic stress of each granite decreased considerably with increasing grain *** inflection points of the b-value occurred earlier with an increase in grain sizes,indicating that the larger grains promote the generation and propagation of *** distribution characteristics of the average frequency(AF)and the ratio of rise time to amplitude(RA)indicate that the proportion of shear microcracks increases with increasing grain *** NMR results indicate that the porosity and the proportion of large pores increased with increasing grain size,which may intensify the microcrack ***,analysis of the DIC and AE event rates suggests that the high-displacement regions could serve as a criterion for the degree of microcrack *** study found that granites with larger grains had a higher proportion of high-displacement regions,which can lead to larger-scale cracking or even *** findings are not only beneficial to understand the pattern of microcrack evolution with different grain sizes,but also provide guidance for rock monitoring and instability assessment.

The small muddy areas developed in the southern Shandong Peninsula have attracted increasing attention from researchers because of complex changes in sediment sources driven by sea-level fluctuations and land-sea interactions since the late Pleistocene. This study investigates the evolution of sediment sources and their responses to environmental changes since the late Pleistocene, using core WHZK01 collected from the nearshore muddy area in southern Weihai for rare earth element(REE) analysis. In doing so, this work highlights the changing patterns of material sources and the primary control factors. The results reveal that the sedimentary deposits in core WHZK01 exhibit distinct terrestrial characteristics. Discriminant function analysis(FD) and source discrimination diagrams both suggest that the primary sources of these deposits are the Yellow River and adjacent small and medium-sized rivers, although the sources vary among different sedimentary units. Furthermore, the DU3 layer(17.82 – 25.10 m) displays typical riverine sedimentation, dominated by terrestrial detrital input, primarily from the local rivers, namely the Huanglei and Muzhu Rivers. The material in the DU2 layer(14.91 – 17.82 m) is mainly influenced by a mixture of the Qinglong and Yellow Rivers. The DU1 layer(0 – 14.91 m) is influenced by sea-level changes during the Holocene, with the Yellow River being the primary source, although there is also some input from local rivers. The changes in sea level during the Holocene and the input of Yellow River material carried by the coastal currents of the Yellow Sea are identified as the main controlling factors for the changes in material sources in the study area since the late Pleistocene, with small and medium-sized rivers also exerting some influence on the material sources. Monolithic perovskite/organic tandem solar cells(TsCs)have gained significant attention due to their easy device integration and the potential to surpass the Shockley-Queisser limit of single-junction solar ***,the surfaces of wide-bandgap perovskite films are densely populated with defects,leading to severe non-radiative recombination and energy *** a consequence,the power conversion efficiency(PCE)of perovskite/organic TSCs lags behind that of other TSC *** address these issues,we designed a functional ammonium salt,4-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazin-1-ium iodide(Pzol),comprising a piperazine iodide and a terminated hydroxyl group,which was applied for post-treating the perovskite *** findings reveal that Pzol reacts with and consumes residual PbX_(2)(X:I or Br)to form a 2D perovskite component,thereby eliminating Pb^(0)defects,while the terminated hydroxyl group in PZOI can also passivate uncoordinated Pb^(2+).Consequently,the shallow/deep-level defect densities of the 2D/3D perovskite film were significantly reduced,leading to an enhanced PCE of single-junction 2D/3D wide-bandgap perovskite solar cells to 18.18% with a reduced energy loss of 40 ***,the corresponding perovskite/organic TSCs achieved a remarkable PCE of 24.05% with enhanced operational stability(T_(90)~500h).

Bedding slope is a typical heterogeneous slope consisting of different soil/rock layers and is likely to slide along the weakest interface. Conventional slope protection methods for bedding slopes, such as retaining walls, stabilizing piles, and anchors, are time-consuming and labor-and energyintensive. This study proposes an innovative polymer grout method to improve the bearing capacity and reduce the displacement of bedding slopes. A series of large-scale model tests were carried out to verify the effectiveness of polymer grout in protecting bedding slopes. Specifically, load-displacement relationships and failure patterns were analyzed for different testing slopes with various dosages of polymer. Results show the great potential of polymer grout in improving bearing capacity, reducing settlement, and protecting slopes from being crushed under shearing. The polymer-treated slopes remained structurally intact, while the untreated slope exhibited considerable damage when subjected to loads surpassing the bearing capacity. It is also found that polymercemented soils concentrate around the injection pipe, forming a fan-shaped sheet-like structure. This study proves the improvement of polymer grouting for bedding slope treatment and will contribute to the development of a fast method to protect bedding slopes from landslides.

The organotypic retinal explant culture has been established for more than a decade and offers a range of unique advantages compared with in vivo experiments and cell ***,the lack of systematic and continuous comparison between in vivo retinal development and the organotypic retinal explant culture makes this model controversial in postnatal retinal development ***,we aimed to verify the feasibility of using this model for postnatal retinal development studies by comparing it with the in vivo *** this study,we showed that postnatal retinal explants undergo normal development,and exhibit a consistent structure and timeline with retinas in ***,we used SOX2 and PAX6 immunostaining to identify retinal progenitor *** then examined cell proliferation and migration by immunostaining with Ki-67 and doublecortin,***-67-and doublecortin-positive cells decreased in both in vivo and explants during postnatal retinogenesis,and exhibited a high degree of similarity in abundance and distribution between ***,we used Ceh-10 homeodomain-containing homolog,glutamate-ammonia ligase(glutamine synthetase),neuronal nuclei,and ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1 immunostaining to examine the emergence of bipolar cells,Müller glia,mature neurons,and microglia,*** timing and spatial patterns of the emergence of these cell types were remarkably consistent between in vivo and explant *** study showed that the organotypic retinal explant culture model had a high degree of consistency with the progression of in vivo early postnatal retina *** findings confirm the accuracy and credibility of this model and support its use for long-term,systematic,and continuous observation.

研究目的:高速铁路采用大跨度斜拉桥和长联连续梁的工况越来越多,钢轨伸缩调节器对确保行车安全发挥了重要作用。钢轨伸缩调节器对线路纵坡比较敏感,为保证线路安全、提高动车组列车平稳性并降低工程投资,本文对南通至宁波高速铁路杭州湾跨海大桥钢轨伸缩调节器设置坡度进行研究,为项目技术决策提供支撑。研究结论:(1)静动力学分析表明,线路纵坡对钢轨伸缩调节器的尖轨纵向位移影响较小,12‰坡道条件下轨道、桥梁各项动力指标均满足规范限值,设置钢轨伸缩调节器可行;(2)建议设置实时在线监测系统,为科学维护钢轨伸缩调节器提供依据;(3)本研究结果对优化铁路大跨桥梁伸缩调节器设置方案、降低工程投资具有积极意义。
