采用光化学反应研究了铜渣中Cu和Fe的溶解行为。实验采用石英玻璃夹套,在玻璃反应釜中间歇进行,在反应釜下埋入紫外线灯,并采用玻璃管作为送风装置。研究了不同波长UVA(365 nm)、UVB(311 nm)、UVC(254 nm)和真空UV光(185 nm)在浸出液中的行为。所有实验在相同条件下,在有和没有紫外线灯的情况下进行比较。研究了自由基形成机制对浸出环境的适应性及其在氧化溶液介质浸出中的可用性。在紫外光(185 nm)和非紫外光条件下,铜的提取率分别为85.1%和70.7%。综上所述,在紫外(185 nm)光反应器体系中,铜渣在最佳条件下的金属溶解率比无紫外光反应器体系效率更高。光化学反应器是使其适应湿法冶金应用和检验工艺的新途径。

从铜渣中回收有价金属的技术虽然很多,但其经济和环境相容性都不理想。用双氧水和有机酸乙酸研究了铜渣中金属在常压下的溶解行为。该渣为转炉渣和闪速炉渣的混合物,含Cu 6.74%,Zn 4.34%,Fe 36.45%。常规的常压浸出实验在100 mL的玻璃烧杯中进行,在磁力搅拌器中使用涂有聚四氟乙烯的磁性搅拌棒。在最佳浸出条件下,铜提取率为98.04%,锌提取率为28.8%,铁提取率为2%。拉曼光谱显示Cu^(2+)/Zn^(2+)与AcO^(-)(乙酸)存在配位。溶解过程用一级动力学方程描述。表观活化能为23.7 kJ/mol,表明溶解过程受扩散控制。H_(2)O_(2)和CH_(3)COOH的反应级数分别为1.24和0.1。本文提出的湿法冶金新工艺简单、环保,在常规条件下从铜渣中获得醋酸铜溶液的性能明显优于其他方法。

Tumors involving the head and neck are uncommon in children. Furthermore, those which involve the external ear are extremely rare. In the external ear itself, the most commonly encountered malignancy is Squamous Cell Carcinoma, both in the adult and pediatric age groups. We encountered one such case of a 14 years old male with a recurring skin lesion involving the right external ear. In this report, we wish to highlight and address the difficulty in recognizing and managing such an unwonted pathology as Squamous Cell Carcinoma in the pediatric age group.

Effects of body mass index on intraocular pressure and ocular pulse amplitude

AIM: To investigate the effects of body mass index (BMI) on intraocular pressure (IOP) and ocular pulse amplitude(OPA). METHODS: Totally 140 healthy individuals without any systemic diseases were included in the study. BMI (kg/m2) was calculated for every individual. IOP and OPA were measured with Pascal Dynamic contour tonometer (DCT). Blood pressure was also measured along with the DCT. The patients were divided into three groups according to BMI as: Group1, BMI<25; Group2, 25≤BMI<30; Group3, BMI≥30. Mean values of IOP, OPA, systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) were used in statistical ***: In Group1, the means of IOP, OPA, were 16.8±2.3mmHg, 2.7±0.7mmHg respectively; and SBP, DBP were 120.0±6.1mmHg, and 77.4±5.6mmHg respectively. In group2, the mean IOP, OPA, SBP, and DBP were found to be 16.6±2.1mmHg, 2.4±0.7mmHg, 121.7±5.3mmHg, and 79.5±4.9mmHg respectively. In group3, the mean IOP, OPA, SBP, and DBP were found to be 17.3±1.7mmHg, 2.1±0.7mmHg, 122.4±5.7mmHg, and 79.7±5.2mmHg respectively. There were no statistically significant difference between groups in terms of IOP, SBP and DBP, while OPA values were significantly lower in group3 (P=0.001). CONCLUSION: Decreased OPA values in individuals with higher BMI may indicate that subjects with higher BMI have lower choroidal perfusion and lower ocular blood flow.

Goksu Delta is an important wetland where the Goksu River reaches to sea in the eastern of the town Tasucu-lcel. The delta is classified as a Wetland of International Importance according to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance. The amount of fertilizers used in this area was 7200 tons in 2006. These pollutants affect the surface and groundwater quality negatively. The intensively used fertilizers and pesticides contain not only N- and P compounds but also some heavy metals. The contents of all pollutants in surface waters were determined for four different seasons between 2006 and 2008 and with these data a Geographic Information System （GIS） has been constructed by using Map Info. From the photometric heavy metal analysis, it is inferred that the excess concen- tration of Fe, Ni, Mn, Mo and Cu at some locations is the cause of undesirable quality for drinking purposes. The source of excess concentration of various heavy metals is the agricultural activities and fertilizers. It is determined that in all periods between 2006 and 2008 the heavy metals and other pollutants in the fertilizers and pesticides transported easily to river water with irrigation return flow. The organic pollutants, including COD, BOD, NH3 and NO3 followed the sharply increasing trends from Silifke city to Mediterranean Sea. The water quality of Goksu River is modeled and determined that the waste water discharge of 10,700 m3/day from Silifke city does not create a serious problem because of the high amount of flow rate of Goksu River.

G?ksu Delta is an important wetland where the G?ksu River reaches the sea in the eastern part of the town of Tasucu-Ice1. The delta is classified as a Wetland of International Importance according to the Ramsar Convention. In the G?ksu Delta area, urban and agricultural expansions have caused an ever-growing need for fresh water. High groundwater pumping rates and overexploitation of the aquifers, leading to seawater mixing in the G?ksu coastal aquifers. The chemical types of groundwater from alluvial aquifer are Ca-Mg-HCO3, but in the region where sea water mixing is occurred it changes and the Na and Cl ions are added to groundwater. The similar occurrence can be observed in the groundwater from the limestone aquifer. The chemical types of groundwater are Ca-HCO3 or Ca-Mg-HCO3 and they change to Ca-Na-Mg-HCO3-Cl in the vicinity of seawater mixing regions. A statistical comparative analysis also shows that some of the samples are affected by sea water mixing. The extent of seawater intrusion is reflected by the distribution of salinity and electrical conductivity as an equiconcentration map.

Heterotopic ossification (HO) is the abnormal, non-neoplastic presence of lamellar bone in soft tissue. The ectopic formation of lamellar bone in non-osseus tissues secondary to traumatic injuries of the spinal cord or the brain is defined as Neurogenic HO. The pathophysiology of HO is not clear. But several theories like overactive humoral mechanisms after fracture healing, imbalance of pro-osteoinductive and anti-osteoinductive mediators located on the soft tissues and gene mutations in such as bone morphogenetic proteins-4 (BMP-4) are proposed. Casualty factors leading to increased risk of HO include older age, blast mechanism of injury, location of injury and traumatic brain injury. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate a case of HO located in the brain without history of trauma or any other risk factors.
