Formative mechanism of intracanal fracture fragments in thoracolumbar burst fractures： a finite element study

Background Thoracolumbar burst fracture is a common clinical injury, and the fracture mechanism is still controversial. The aim of this research was to study the formation of intracanal fracture fragments in thoracolumbar burst fractures and to provide information for the prevention of thoracolumbar bursts fractures and reduction of damage to the nervous system. Methods A nonlinear three-dimensional finite element model of T11-L3 segments was established, and the injury processes of thoracolumbar bursts were simulated. The intact finite element model and the finite element model after the superior articular were impacted by 100 J of energy in different directions. The distribution and variation of stress in the superior posterior region of the L1 vertebral body were analyzed. Abaqus 6.9 explicit dynamic solver was used as finite element software in calculations. Results A three-dimensional nonlinear finite element model of the thoracolumbar spine was created. In the intact model, stress was concentrated in the superior posterior region of the L1 vertebral body. The stress peak was a maximum for the extension impact load and a minimum for the flexion impact load. The stress peak and contact force in the facet joint had close correlation with time. The stress peak disappeared after excision of the superior articular process. Conclusions The three-dimensional nonlinear finite element model was suitable for dynamic analysis. The contact force in the facet joint, which can be transferred to the superior posterior vertebral body, may explain the spinal canal fragment in thoracolumbar burst fractures.

Insights into the H2O/V2O5 Interface Structure for Optimizing Water-splitting

The interaction of water(H2O) with metal oxide surfaces is of fundamental importance to various fields of science, ranging from batteries to catalysis. In particular, vanadium pentoxide(V2O5) has been widely used as electrode materials for aqueous-battery and catalysts. Herein, theoretical(density functional theory) study gives atomic-scale insights into water monolayers in V2O5 and single-molecule adsorption and dissociation at three low-index surfaces and oxygen-vacancy V2O5(001) surface. The H2O/V2O5 interface structure was identified. The results show that H2O is adsorbed on the stoichiometric V2O5(001) surface with physisorption mechanism, and the dissociation hardly occurs. Water adsorbs as an intact monomer with a computed binding energy of 0.75 eV. The formation of ordered water overlayers has been observed on V2O5(001) surface, suggesting a locally ordered superstructure of molecular water. The molecular H2O adsorption on oxygen-vacancy V2O5(001) surface is stronger than that on the stoichiometric V2O5(001) surface, and H2O can undergo dissociative chemisorption to form a surface hydroxyl group and a H adatom. V2O5 can take the oxygen from H2O, which is consistent with the experimental results.

城市化进程对城市形态气候和环境具有重要影响。为了评估社区建筑方案对所在城镇现状及未来城市通风的影响,某社区采用计算流体力学(CFD)数值模拟手段,分析不同建筑高度及建筑排布的设计方案对该镇区及社区下游小区的风速影响区及平均风速的影响。模拟软件采用Fluent,湍流模型采用k-ε两方程。结果表明,社区住宅按规划条件和现行技术管理规定要求建设,均能保障通风廊道通风能力,符合通风廊道协调管控区管控总体导向。镇区未出让用地,按照现行协调管控区空间形态管控要求执行,以降低新增建设对风环境的不利影响。

Evolution of MnO–SiO2–Al_(2)O_(3)–MgO inclusions during heat treatment at 1100℃

El Niño and the AMO Sparked the Astonishingly Large Margin of Warming in the Global Mean Surface Temperature in 2023

In 2023,the majority of the Earth witnessed its warmest boreal summer and autumn since *** 2023 will indeed turn out to be the warmest year on record and what caused the astonishingly large margin of warming has become one of the hottest topics in the scientific community and is closely connected to the future development of human *** analyzed the monthly varying global mean surface temperature(GMST)in 2023 and found that the globe,the land,and the oceans in 2023 all exhibit extraordinary warming,which is distinct from any previous year in recorded *** on the GMST statistical ensemble prediction model developed at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics,the GMST in 2023 is predicted to be 1.41℃±0.07℃,which will certainly surpass that in 2016 as the warmest year since 1850,and is approaching the 1.5℃ global warming *** to 2022,the GMST in 2023 will increase by 0.24℃,with 88%of the increment contributed by the annual variability as mostly affected by El Niñ***,the multidecadal variability related to the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation(AMO)in 2023 also provided an important warming background for sparking the GMST *** a result,the GMST in 2023 is projected to be 1.15℃±0.07℃,with only a 0.02℃ increment,if the effects of natural variability—including El Niño and the AMO—are eliminated and only the global warming trend is considered.

Data Quality Control Method of a New Drifting Observation Technology Named Drifting Air-Sea Interface Buoy

An integral quality control(QC)procedure that integrates various QC methods and considers the design indexes and operational status of the instruments for the observations of drifting air-sea interface buoy was developed in the order of basic in-spection followed by targeted *** innovative method of combining a moving Hampel filter and local anomaly detection com-plies with statistical laws and physical processes,which guarantees the QC performance of meteorological *** sets of observation data were used to verify the applicability and effectiveness of the QC procedure,and the effect was evaluated using the observations of the Kuroshio Extension Observatory buoy as the *** results showed that the outliers in the time series can be correctly identified and processed,and the quality of data improved *** linear correlation between the quality-controlled observations and the reference increased,and the difference *** correlation coefficient of wind speed before and after QC increased from 0.77 to 0.82,and the maximum absolute error decreased by approximately 2.8ms^(-1).In addition,air pressure and relative humidity were optimized by 10^(-3)–10^(-2) orders of *** the sea surface temperature,the weight of coefficients of the continuity test algorithm was optimized based on the sea area of data acquisition,which effectively expanded the applicability of the algorithm.

Electrochemical reduction mechanism of Zn^(2+)in molten NaCl-KCl eutectic

A process comprising selective chlorination and molten salt electrolysis was proposed to develop an efficient and environmental-friendly technology for zinc recovery from metallurgical *** theoretical feasibility of this technology was firstly estimated based on thermodynamic ***,the electrochemical behavior of Zn^(2+)on tungsten electrode was investigated in molten NaCl-KCl eutectic at 973 K by many electrochemical transient *** results showed that the reduction of Zn^(2+)on tungsten electrode was found to be a one-step process exchanging two electrons with the initial reduction potential of-0.74 V(vs Ag/AgCl),and the electrode process was considered as quasi-reversible and controlled by *** diffusion coefficient of Zn^(2+)ions in the melts was determined in the order of 10^(-5)cm^(2)/***,the electrolytic preparation of zinc was carried out by potentiostatic electrolysis in molten NaCl-KCl-ZnCl_(2)eutectic at-1.6 V(vs Ag/AgCl).Spheroidic granular metal with silver-white luster was attained after electrolysis for 9.5 h,and identified as pure *** present study confirms that it is practically feasible to extract pure zinc metal by direct electrolysis of ZnCl_(2)in molten NaCl-KCl eutectic,and provides a valuable theoretical reference for the efficient recovery of zinc from metallurgical dusts.

A novel molten salt extraction process consisting of chlorination roasting and molten salt electrolysis was proposed to develop a more efficient and environmental friendly technology for recovering lead from spent lead acid batteries(LABs).The feasibility of this process was firstly assessed based on thermodynamics *** electrochemical behavior of Pb(II)on a tungsten electrode in the eutectic NaCl−KCl melts at 700℃ was then investigated in detail by transient electrochemical *** results indicated that the reduction reaction of Pb(II)in NaCl−KCl melts was a one-step process exchanging two electrons,and it was determined to be a quasi-reversible diffusion-controlled ***,potentiostatic electrolysis was carried out at−0.6 V(vs Ag/AgCl)in the NaCl−KCl−PbCl2 melts,and the obtained cathodic product was identified as pure Pb by X-ray diffraction *** investigation demonstrated that it is practically feasible to produce pure Pb metal by electrochemical reduction of PbCl2 in eutectic NaCl−KCl melts,and has provided important fundamental for the further study on lead recovery from spent LABs via molten salt extraction process.

Genesis of the Jianbeigou Gold Deposit on the Southern Margin of the North China Craton: Insights from Fluid Inclusions, H-O-S Isotopes, and Pyrite in situ Trace Element Analyses

The Jianbeigou gold deposit is a typical lode gold deposit in the Qinling metallogenic belt, located on the southern margin of the North China Craton. Three stages of the hydrothermal process can be distinguished, including the quartz ± pyrite, quartz-polymetallic sulfide, and quartz-carbonate ± pyrite stages. From the early to late stages, the homogenization temperatures of primary fluid inclusions are 281–362°C, 227–331°C, and 149–261°C, respectively. The corresponding salinities estimated for these fluids are 3.9–9.9 wt%, 0.4–9.4 wt%, and 0.7–7.2 wt% Na Cl equiv. Combined with laser Raman spectroscopy data, the ore-forming fluid belongs to a H_(2)O-CO_(2)-Na Cl ± CH_4 system with medium–low temperature and salinity. The δ~(18)Ofluid and δD values for the quartz veins are-1.0‰ to 6.0‰ and-105‰ to-84‰, respectively, which indicates that the ore-forming fluid is of mixed source, mainly derived from magma, with a contribution from meteoric water. Pyrite has been identified into three generations based on mineral paragenetic sequencing, including Py1, Py2, and Py3. The pyrites have δ~(34)S sulfur isotopic compositions from three stages between 3.7‰ and 8.4‰, indicating that sulfur mainly originated from magma. Te, Bi, Sb, and Cu contents in pyrite were all high and showed a strong correlation with Au concentrations. Native gold and the Au-Ag-Bi telluride minerals were formed concurrently, and the As concentration was low and decoupled from the Au content. Therefore, Te, Bi, Sb and other low-melting point chalcophile elements play an important role for gold mineralization in arsenic-deficient ore-forming fluid. Combined with the geological setting, evolution of pyrite, and ore-fluids geochemistry, we propose that the Jianbeigou deposit can be classified as a magmatic–hydrothermal lode gold deposit. Gold mineralization on the southern margin of the North China Craton is related to Early Cretaceous magmatism and formed in an extensional setting.

Effect of phosphorus content on interfacial heat transfer and film deposition behavior during the high-temperature simulation of strip casting

The interfacial wettability and heat transfer behavior are crucial in the strip casting of high phosphorus-containing steel.A hightemperature simulation of strip casting was conducted using the droplet solidification technique with the aims to reveal the effects of phosphorus content on interfacial wettability,deposited film,and interfacial heat transfer *** showed that when the phosphorus content increased from 0.014wt%to 0.406wt%,the mushy zone enlarged,the complete solidification temperature delayed from1518.3 to 1459.4℃,the final contact angle decreased from 118.4°to 102.8°,indicating improved interfacial contact,and the maximum heat flux increased from 6.9 to 9.2 MW/*** the phosphorus content from 0.081wt%to 0.406wt%also accelerated the film deposition rate from 1.57 to 1.73μm per test,resulting in a thickened naturally deposited film with increased thermal resistance that advanced the transition point of heat transfer from the fifth experiment to the third experiment.
