Bulky nanodiamond-confined synthesis of sub-5 nanometer ordered intermetallic Pd_(3)Pb catalysts

Modulation of geometric and electronic structures of supported Pd-based catalysts by forming atomically ordered intermetallic phases enables an effective way to optimize catalytic performance.However,the synthesis of small-sized Pd-based intermetallic nanoparticle catalysts with improved mass-based activity remains formidable challenges,since high-temperature annealing generally required for atom ordering inevitably leads to severe metal sintering and thus large crystallites.Here,we present a bulky nanodiamond-confined method to prepare sub-5 nm Pd_(3)Pb intermetallic nanocatalysts by mitigating metal sintering at high temperatures,which is induced by the electronic interactions between metal and defect-rich graphene shells reinforced by diamond cores in the bulky nanodiamond support.The prepared small-sized Pd_(3)Pb intermetallic catalyst displays a high activity with a turnover frequency of 932 h−1 for the semihydrogenation of phenylacetylene under mild conditions(room temperature,3 bar H_(2)),along with a high selectivity of>96%to styrene near the complete conversion of phenylacetylene.

The LaCo_(0.94)Pt_(0.06)O_(3) catalyst is reduced under 5% H_(2)/Ar at different temperatures to get Pt/LaCoO_(3) with high catalytic activity for soot oxidation.Transmission electron microscopy(TEM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),Brunauer-Emmett-Teller method(BET),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),H_(2)-temperature programmed reduction(H_(2)-TPR),O_(2)-temperature programmed desorption(O_(2)-TPD) and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) were used to study the physicochemical properties of the catalyst.SEM and TEM results indicate that Pt nanoparticles(<10 nm) are grown homogeneously on the surface of the LaCoO_(3) matrix after in-situ reduction.XRD shows that the reduced catalyst has a high symmetrical structure.TGA results indicate that all reduced catalysts exhibit an excellent activity,especially the catalyst reduced at 350℃(T_(10)=338℃,T_(50)=393℃,T_(90)=427℃).And perovskite is the primary active component.According to XPS study,the high symmetrical structure benefits the mobility of oxygen vacancy,and Pt nanoparticles induce the oxygen vacancy to move to its adjacent situation,resulting in more adsorbed oxygen on the surface of the reduced catalyst and increasing the activity.The possible reaction principle is also proposed.

BACKGROUND Methylmalonic acidemia(MMA)is characterized by non-specific symptoms such as vomiting,and feeding difficulties,along with delayed mental and physical development.However,no case of MMA combined with pulmonary fungal infection has been reported yet.CASE SUMMARY We report the case of a neonate who presented pulmonary fungal infection along with the non-specific features of MMA.Exome sequencing revealed a c.331C>T variant in exon 3 of MMACHC from the father,and a c.658-c.660delAAG variant in exon 4 from the mother,which confirmed the diagnosis of cblC type MMA combined with hyperhomocysteinemia.CONCLUSION Invasive fungal infection might occur in some infants with MMA.Therefore,early diagnosis is recommended for unexplained pulmonary infection.

Catalytic cracking is the main method to lighten heavy crude oil,this process can produce high quality oil products such as gasoline and diesel,but also produces a large amount of fluid catalytic cracking slurry(FCCS).The catalyst particles in FCCS seriously restrict the secondary processing of FCCS and need to be removed,and the properties of Fccs is an important factor that affects the removal efficiency of the catalyst particles.Based on the"effective contact point"model proposed by the research group,this study further proposed the"electrostatic separation efficiency calculation"model.In this model,since Fccs has a uniform distribution of catalyst particles,the ratio of the number of catalyst particles can be expressed as the ratio of area to achieve the calculation of separation efficiency.Then the catalyst removal efficiency under different viscosity was analyzed,thus verifying the feasibility of this model.The effects of temperature and mass ratio of four components on the viscosity of FccS were investigated respectively,then the effects of temperature and four components'mass ratio on the electrostatic sep-aration can be directly converted into the effect of viscosity on the electrostatic separation efficiency.All the results show the electrostatic separation efficiency decreases with increasing viscosity,and the best separationtemperatureis120℃.

Particle packing is widely applied in organic pollutant adsorption,catalytic reaction.biomass combustion,nuclear cooling,and other scenarios.Due to the complexity of the shape,the studies on the void fraction of the cylindrical particles are not as thorough as the spherical particles.This study investigated the influence of the flling rate,material properties and sphericity on the void fraction of cylinders through experiments and simulation.DEM(discrete element method)was validated by the internal structures of the packing obtained by CT(computed tomography).Based on the logarithmic correlation between the void fraction and flling rate,an ingenious framework for predicting the void fraction of cylindrical particles was presented with two intermediate coefficients.By correlating the coefficients with the material property and sphericity,a novel void-fraction prediction model was established with R-squared of 0.996.The mechanism of void fraction under random loose packing for cylinders was eventually found in this study.

The recent demonstration of proton signaling in C. elegans muscle contraction suggests a novel mechanism for proton-based intercellular communication and has stimulated enthusiasm for exploring proton signaling in higher organ- isms. Emerging evidence indicates that protons are produced and regulated in localized space and time. Furthermore, identification of proton regulators and sensors in the brain leads to the speculation that proton production and regulation may be of major importance for both physiological and pathological functions ranging from nociception to learning and memory. Extracellular protons may play a role in signal transmission by not only acting on adjacent ceils hut also af- fecting the cell from which they were released. In this review, we summarize the upstream and downstream pathways of proton production and regulation in the mammalian brain, with special emphasis on the proton extruders and sensors that are critical in the homeostatic regulation of pH, and discuss their potential roles in proton signaling under normal and pathophysiological conditions.

Efficacy of Chinese Herbal Medicines on Pregnancy Outcomes in Patients with Endometriosis in Long-Term Management:A Multicenter Retrospective Cohort Study

Objective:To analyze the factors related to pregnancy of endometriosis and whether Chinese herbal medicines(CHMs)can improve pregnancy outcomes in patients with endometriosis in long-term management.Methods:This multicenter cohort study retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of endometriosis patients with fertility needs from January 2019 to November 2019.A total of 252 patients with endometriosis from 5 level-ⅢGrade A hospitals in Beijing were included in this study.Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis were performed for the relevant factors.The propensity score matching(PSM)function of SPSS software was used to match the CHMs group with the non-CHMs group.The pregnancy rate and live birth rate were analyzed.Results:The results of univariate analysis showed that age,disease course,presence of infertility,presence of adenomyosis,time after surgery or use of gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist(Gn RH-a),use of CHMs and follow-up time were influencing factors of pregnancy in endometriosis patients(P6 months were independent risk factors(OR=0.445,0.348,0.140,respectively,P<0.05),time after surgery or use of Gn RH-a 6 months and use of CHMs were independent protective factors(OR=3.839,3.842,respectively,P<0.05).After PSM,99 pairs of two groups were matched successfully.The pregnancy rate of the CHMs group was higher than that of the non-CHMs group[55.56%(55/99)vs.36.36%(36/99),P<0.05].The live birth rate of the CHMs group was higher than that of the non-CHMs group[49.49%(49/99)vs.35.35%(35/99),P<0.05].Conclusion:CHMs can effectively improve clinical pregnancy rate and live birth rate of patients with endometriosis in the chronic disease management.

Patients with bone metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) might benefit from radium-223 (^(223)Ra) combined withnew-generation hormonal agents (NHAs) in terms of survival and quality of life (QoL). However, the safety of combination therapiesremains unclear. Therefore, we aimed to perform a network meta-analysis by reviewing the literature about the combination of^(223)Ra with abiraterone acetate plus prednisone (AAP) or enzalutamide and to evaluate the safety of combination therapy in bonemCRPC patients. Ultimately, ten studies (2835 patients) were selected, including four randomized controlled trials (RCTs), fiveretrospective cohort studies, and one single-arm study. Overall, there was no difference in the incidence of fracture between the^(223)Ra+NHA combination group and the ^(223)Ra monotherapy group (odds ratio [OR]: 1.46, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.91–2.34,P = 0.66), but the incidences in both the ^(223)Ra+NHA combination group (OR: 3.22, 95% CI: 2.24–4.63, P < 0.01) and the ^(223)Ramonotherapy group (OR: 2.24, 95% CI: 1.23–4.08, P < 0.01) were higher than that in the NHA monotherapy group. However, inthe meta-analysis involving only RCTs, there was no difference between the ^(223)Ra monotherapy group and the NHA monotherapygroup (OR: 1.14, 95% CI: 0.22–5.95, P = 0.88), while the difference between the ^(223)Ra+NHA combination group and the NHAmonotherapy group remained significant (OR: 3.22, 95% CI: 2.24–4.63, P < 0.01). Symptomatic skeletal events (SSEs), SSE-freesurvival (SSE-FS), all grades of common adverse events (AEs), and ≥grade 3 AEs among all groups did not show any significantdifference. Our results indicate that the combination of ^(223)Ra with NHAs was well tolerated in bone mCRPC patients compared to ^(223)Ra monotherapy, even though the incidence of fracture was higher in patients who received ^(223)Ra than that among those whoreceived NHA monotherapy. More evidence is needed to explore the safety and efficiency of ^(223)Ra combination therapies.
