Cytotoxicity and Apoptosis Assay of Novel Cyclomyrsinol Diterpenes Against Breast Cancer Cell Lines

Background:Cyclomyrsinane diterpenes especially those extracted from various Euphorbia species have shown interesting biological properties in recent *** of the high prevalence of breast cancer and the challenges ahead in its treatment,the use of these compounds as potential anti cancer agents seem ***:The aim of the present study was to evaluate the cytotoxic effects of some myrsinane type diterpenoids extracted from Euphorbia sogdiana Popov and determine their induced cell death ***:mTT assay was used to determine the cytotoxicity of six various myrsinane compounds on mCF 7 and 4 T1 breast cancer cell *** umbilical vein endothelial cells were used as the normal cell line *** apoptotic effects of the structure with the most cytotoxic effects were determined using flow cytometry assay in IC50 concentration for 24 h of ***:Compound(6)showed the most cytotoxic effects with IC50 of about 8±4 and 24±4μg/mL for mCF 7 and 4 T1 cell lines,***,the cells treated with 5 and 10μg/mL of compound(6)for 24 h,showed 37 and 55%of apoptotic ***:These surveyed compounds have the potential to be considered as useful anti-breast cancer agents due to the great cytotoxicity and apoptotic effects against these cancer cells and the fact that there was no significant cytotoxicity on normal cells.

mediator contributes to IgH locus VDJ rearrangements by promoting usage of most distal V segments

INTRODUCTION The immunoglobulin heavy(IgH)chain locus includes a large cluster of V,D and J segments spanning thousands of kilobases in mammals and its expression implies long-range 3D-regulation of various gene modifications.1 V(D)J recombination occurs during early B-cell ontogeny.2 It is regulated by multiple transcription factors and cis-regulatory elements,and most notably by the intronic 5′Eμelement located in the JH to Cμintron.3 The intergenic control region 1(IGCR1)located between the VH and D gene clusters inhibits rearrangement of the most DH-proximal VH gene segments,while promoting usage of distal VH gene segments.4 Other downstream elements of the locus,flanking its 3′end might have more subtle roles:while the large 3′regulatory region(3′RR)shows strong internal synergies2 and behaves as a superenhancer in mature B *** deletion showed no influence on the VDJ repertoire and rather increased transcription of unrearranged V segments.3–5 Insulators binding CTCF farther downstream of the 3′RR were shown,however,to promote usage of distal VH segments.6 Altogether,there are strong indications that elements involved in long-distance regulation of transcription might also influence VDJ ***-frame splicing of VDJ exons is also needed for full Ig expression.7 Given the functional importance of gene architecture and long-range interactions for the IgH locus physiology,we explored the dependence of the VDJ repertoire on med1,a known actor of long-range enhancer interactions.

Use of GIS to Estimate Recharge and Identification of Potential Groundwater Recharge Zones in the Karstic Aquifers,West of Iran

Estimating and studying groundwater recharge is necessary and important for the management of water *** main aim of this work is to estimate the value of the annual recharge in some parts of the Kermanshah and Kurdistan province located in the west of *** are many approaches available for estimation of the recharge,but RS(remote sensing)and GIS(geographic information system)have provided and combined a lot of effective spatial and temporal data of large areas within a short *** this purpose,nine information layers including the slope,aspect of slope,lithology,lineament density,drainage density,precipitation,vegetation density,soil cover,and karst features were prepared and imported to the Arcmap *** preparing the information layers,they have to weigh based on their effects on the value of the *** order to be weighted the different parameters,methods of judgment expert,reciprocal influences of parameters,and AHP were *** GIS,the results obtained from the final map indicated the average value for the recharge based on the average calculated coefficient of *** annual recharge coefficient in the study area was estimated to be between 30%and 80%.

Clinical and epidemiological characteristics of norovirus gastroenteritis among hospitalized children in Lebanon

AIm To assess the burden of norovirus(No V) and to determine the diversity of circulating strains among hospitalized children in Lebanon. mETHODS Stool samples were collected from children presenting with acute gastroenteritis to six major hospitals in Lebanon. A total of 739 eligible stool samples, testing negative for diarrhea caused by rotavirus as a possible viral pathogen, were collected between January 2011 and June 2013. A standardized questionnaire including demographic, epidemiological and clinical observations was used at the time of hospitalization of children presenting with diarrhea. Viral RNA was extracted from stool samples followed by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and nucleotide sequencing of a fragment of the viral protein 1 capsid gene. multiple sequence alignments were carried out and phylogenetic trees were constructed using the mEGA 6 *** Overall, 11.2% of stool samples collected from children aged mples being positive for GⅠ(0.7%). The majority of hospitalized children showed symptoms of diarrhea, dehydration, vomiting and fever. Upon sequencing of positive samples and based on their clustering in the phylogenetic tree, 4/5 of GⅠ gastroenteritis cases were designated GⅠ.3 and one case as GⅠ.4. GⅡ.4 was predominantly detected in stool of our study participants(68%). We report a JB-15/KOR/2008 GⅡ.4 Apeldoorn 2008-like variant strain circulating in 2011; this strain was replaced between 2012 and 2013 by a variant sharing homology with the Sydney/NSW0514/2012/AUS GⅡ.4 Sydney 2012 and Sydney 2012/FRA GⅡ.4 strains. We also report the co-circulation of non-GⅡ.4 genotypes among hospitalized children. Concerns, performance, and awareness of people when experiencing haze and dust storms in Kermanshah

This study investigated the concerns and awareness of people in Kermanshah when haze and dust storms occur and also discussed the people’s performance during occurring and diffusion of this phenomenon. This descriptive-analytic study was done by component questionnaire and its sustainability and validity have been verified. The sample size of the statistical population of Kermanshah was selected as 400 people while it was considered that the population of the city was approximately 1 million people. The results showed that 77% of the participants in the study suffered from respiratory problems when the haze occurred. A total of 85.5% of the respondents in the present study believed that the precipitation rate had a direct effect to reduce haze. Also, 85% of the people with heart disorder had health problems during the haze. 63.3% of all participants had to use medical services when the haze occurred. However, 77.3% of participants were unaware of the necessary actions of the authorities when the haze occurred. most of the studied people acknowledged that they obtained information about the negative effects of dust storms and the methods of reducing the effects to their health through broadcasting.

Genotypic Variations in Phenolic, Flavonoids and Their Antioxidant Activities in maize Plants Treated with Zn (II) HEDTA Grown in Salinized media

Zinc (Zn (II) HEDTA) was used to determine their effect on salt-induced damages in maize plants. The aim of this study was to investigate the antioxidant capacity and the levels of enhanced total phenolic (TPC), total flavonoid (TFC) contents and their antioxidant activity in leaves of two maize cultivars Single cross 10 (SC10) and Single cross 162 (SC162) grown in two levels of salinity 0.00 and 100 mmol in response to 20 μmol Zn (II) HEDTA foliar spray treatments. Significant differences (P ≤ 0.05) in amounts of TPC ranged from (2.55 to 4.62 mg/gdw as Gallic) in Single cross 10 (SC10) and from (2.53 to 4.38 mg/gdw as Gallic) in Single cross 162 (SC162), TFC (ranged 1.53 to 2.41 mg/gdw as qurestien) in Single cross 10 (SC10) and from (1.28 to 2.41 mg/gdw as qurestien) in Single cross 162 (SC162) among all treated plants were observed. The levels of their compounds increase related to foliar spraying of Zn (II) HEDTA. A significant positive correlation between TPC, TFC and DPPH scavenging activity and iron chelating activity was observed which shows that phenolic compounds were involved in the mechanism of salt tolerance of the two cultivars by showing enhanced antioxidant activity which resulted in reduced membrane damage and hence improved growth. According to the results obtained, the adverse effects of salt stress on maize plants can partly be alleviated with application of Zn (II)-HEDTA chelates. It is concluded that the application of Zn (II) HEDTA to maize plants grown in salt conditions leads to the increase of antioxidant compounds and maize tolerance.

Simulation of Chirped Pulse Propagation in Silicon Nanowires: Shape and Spectrum Analysis

In this paper, we simulate the propagation of chirped pulses in silicon nanowires by solving the nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NLSE) using the split-step Fourier (SSF) method. The simulations are performed both for the pulse shape (time domain) and for the pulse spectrum (frequency domain), and various linear and nonlinear effects changing the shape and the spectrum of the pulse are analyzed. Owing to the high nonlinear coefficient and a very small effective-mode area, the required length for observing nonlinear effects in nanowires is much shorter than that of conventional optical fibers. The impacts of loss, nonlinear effects, second- and third-order dispersion coefficients and the chirp parameter on pulse propagation along the nanowire are investigated. The results show that the sign and the value of the chirp parameter have important role in pulse propagation so that in the anomalous dispersion regime, the compression occurs for the up- chirped pulses, whereas the broadening takes place for the down-chirped pulses. The opposite situation happens for up- and down-chirped pulses propagating in the normal dispersion regime.

Analysis of the Effect of Trailer Tire Size on the Articulated Vehicle’s Stability

This research paper aims to identify the effect of tire size on the handling characteristics of a trailer attached to a vehicle. In various stability tests, different models with different tires from the market were tested. A successful outcome of this research would generate an efficient tire selection process and improve the handling of a trailer attached to a vehicle while maximizing fuel efficiency. In this study, different accurate tire models using the magic formula were developed in vehicle dynamics modelling and simulation software. These models were then simulated on on-road conditions to predict vehicle and trailer behaviour under different conditions within the software. Two distinct tests were conducted, the J-Turn test and the Double Lane change test. The results of these tests were used to evaluate the handling characteristics and decide on a better tire size for the trailer attached to the vehicle.

Standardization of meibomian gland dysfunction in an Egyptian population sample using a non-contact meibography technique

AIm:To develop normative data for meibomian gland dysfunction(mGD)parameters,using non-contact meibography technique of Sirius Costruzione Strumenti Oftalmici(CSO)machine,in an Egyptian population ***:Observational,cross-sectional,analytic study,in which 104 Egyptian volunteers were *** upper lids were examined,using“Sirius CSO”*** eyelid was given a degree of meibomian gland loss(mGL),which was calculated by the software of the ***:mean percentage mGL in right upper lid was of 30.9%±12.6%,and that of left upper lid was 32.6%±11.8%.Thirty-four volunteers(32.7%)had first-degree mGL in their right upper lid,and 67.3%had second-degree *** volunteer(1%)had zero-degree mGL in left upper lid,28(26.9%)had first-degree loss,and 75(72.1%)had second-degree *** of mGL in right upper eyelid was not related to age,but degree of mGL in left upper eyelid increased with *** was statistically significant difference between both genders for degree of mGL in right eye(P=0.036)and in left eye(P=0.027).CONCLUSION:Noncontact meibography is a useful non-invasive tool for diagnosing *** is diagnosed in 100%of apparently normal individuals;26.9%-32.7%of which have first-degree mGL,and 67.3%-72.1%have second-degree mGL.
