AIM:To identify blood donors with occult hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection(OBI) to promote safe blood ***:Descriptive cross sectional study was conducted on 3167 blood donors negative for hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg),hepatitis C antibody(HCV Ab) and human immunodeficiency virus *** were subjected to the detection of alanine aminotransferase(ALT) and aspartate transaminase(AST) and screening for anti-HBV core antibodies(total) by two different techniques;[Monoliza antibodies to hepatitis B core(Anti-HBc) Plus-Bio-Rad] and(ARC-HBc total-ABBOT).Positive samples were subjected to quantitative detection of antibodies to hepatitis B surface(anti-HBs)(ETI-AB-AUK-3,Dia Sorin-Italy).Serum anti-HBs titers > 10 IU/L was considered *** HBV DnA by real time polymerase chain reaction(PCR)(QIAGEn-Germany) with 3.8 IU/mL detection limit was estimated for blood units with negative serum anti-HBs and also for 32 whose anti-HBs serum titers were > 1000 IU/***,265 recipients were included,34 of whom were followed up for 3-6 *** were investigated for ALT and AST,HBV serological markers:HBsAg(ETI-MAK-4,Dia Sorin-Italy),anti-HBc,quantitative detection of anti-HBs and ***:525/3167(16.6%) of blood units were positive for total anti-HBc,64% of those were antiHBs *** by ARCHITECT anti-HBc assay were carried out for 498/525 anti-HBc positive samples,where 451(90.6%) confirmed *** for anti-HBc was considered confirmed only if two positive results were obtained for each sample,giving an overall prevalence of 451/3167(14.2%) for total *** DnA was quantified by real time PCR in 52/303(17.2%) of anti-HBc positive blood donors(viral load range:5 to 3.5 x 105 IU/mL) with a median of 200 IU/mL(mean:1.8 x 104 ± 5.1 x 104 IU/mL).AntiHBc was the only marker in 68.6% of *** and multivariate logistic analysis for identifying risk factors associated with anti-HBc and HBV-DnA positivity a

The efficient adsorption of radioactive iodine(^(129)I and^(131)I)as nuclear waste is of great *** nanocomposites consist of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)developing for various pollutions sorption and separation have attracted much *** study reports the fabrication of magnetic polyacrylonitrile(PAn)/zeolitic imidazolate frameworks(ZIF-8)nanocomposites,PAn/ZIF-8(x%)/Fe_(3)O_(4),x=30 and 50,as iodine capture *** PAn/ZIF-8(x%)/Fe_(3)O_(4)nanocomposite beads were fabricated via the phase inversion method,and their potential for iodine capture and separation in solution and vapor was investigated through UV-vis and weighing methods,***,antibacterial activity of the as-prepared beads was assessed against *** and *** as-fabricated compounds were studied by various techniques such as Fourier-transform infrared,X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscope,energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy mapping,transmission electron microscope,n_(2)adsorption isotherm,and vibrating sample *** iodine capture results showed that the efficiency of nanocomposites is remarkably higher than the pure PAn ***,the asprepared nanocomposite adsorbents displayed higher capture capacities for iodine vapor(1524-4345mg·g^(-1))than iodine solution(187-295 mg·g^(-1)).The as-obtained magnetic nanocomposites can be successfully separated from polluted media by simple filtration or an external magnet,regenerated through washing with ethanol,and *** capturing,high sorption capacity,rapid separation,and good reusability make the PAn/ZIF-8(x%)/Fe_(3)O_(4)nanocomposites highly effective adsorbents for the separation of iodine from ***,PAn/ZIF-8(50%)/Fe_(3)O_(4)bead can be considered as a potential new antibacterial agent for water and wastewater treatment.

Finding the suitable solution to optimization problems is a fundamental challenge in various *** algorithms are one of the effective stochastic methods in solving optimization *** this paper,a new stochastic optimization algorithm called Search StepAdjustment Based Algorithm(SSABA)is presented to provide quasi-optimal solutions to various optimization *** the initial iterations of the algorithm,the step index is set to the highest value for a comprehensive search of the search ***,with increasing repetitions in order to focus the search of the algorithm in achieving the optimal solution closer to the global optimal,the step index is reduced to reach the minimum value at the end of the algorithm *** is mathematically modeled and its performance in optimization is evaluated on twenty-three different standard objective functions of unimodal and multimodal *** results of optimization of unimodal functions show that the proposed algorithm SSABA has high exploitation power and the results of optimization of multimodal functions show the appropriate exploration power of the proposed *** addition,the performance of the proposed SSABA is compared with the performance of eight well-known algorithms,including Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO),Genetic Algorithm(GA),Teaching-Learning Based Optimization(TLBO),Gravitational Search Algorithm(GSA),Grey Wolf Optimization(GWO),Whale Optimization Algorithm(WOA),Marine Predators Algorithm(MPA),and Tunicate Swarm Algorithm(TSA).The simulation results show that the proposed SSABA is better and more competitive than the eight compared algorithms with better performance.

In this paper dry reforming of methane （DRM） was carried out over nanocrystalline MgAl2O4-supported ni catalysts with various ni loadings. nanocrystalline MgAl2O4 spinel with high specific surface area was synthesized by a co-precipitation method with the addition of pluronic P123 triblock copolymer as surfactant, and employed as catalyst support. The prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, n2 adsorption, H2 chemisorption, temperature-programmed reduction （TPR）, temperature-programmed oxidation （TPO）, temperature- programmed desorption （TPD） and transmission and scanning electron microscopies （TEM, SEM） techniques. The obtained results showed that the catalyst support has a nanocrystalline structure （crystal size： about 5 nm） with a high specific surface area （175 m2 g-1） and a mesoporous structure. Increasing in nickel content decreased the specific surface area and nickel dispersion. The prepared catalysts showed high catalytic activity and stability during the reaction. SEM analysis revealed that whisker type carbon deposited over the spent catalysts and increasing in nickel loading increased the amount of deposited carbon. The nickel catalyst with 7 wt% of nickel showed the highest catalytic activity.

Copper（If） complex of a Schiff base ligand derived from pyrrolcarbaldehyde and o-phenylenediamine （H2L） has been synthesized and encapsulated in Y-zeolite matrix. The hybrid material has been characterized by elemental analysis, IR and UV-Vis spectroscopic studies as well as X-ray diffraction （XRD） pattern. The encapsulated cop- per（II） catalyst is an active catalyst for the oxidation of cyclooctene and cyclohexene using H202 as oxidant. Under the optimized reaction conditions 81% conversion of cyclohexene with 65% selectivity for 2-cyclohexenone formation and 87% conversion of cyclooctene with 46% selectivity for epoxide formation were obtained.

Facile Preparation of Silver Halide nanoparticles for Biological Application and Waste Water Treatment

Highly efficient silver halide nanoparticles (AgX, X = Cl, Br nP’s) were successfully synthesized by facile and template-free direct-precipitation method using potassium chloride, potassium bromide and silver nitrate as reactive sources. The as-prepared AgX nP’s were characterized by FTIR, thermogravimetric analysis, XRD, EDX and HRTEM. The antimicrobial susceptibilities against two Gram-positive bacteria (Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus) and four Gram-negative bacteria (Salmonella typhi, Escherichia coli, P. aeruginosa and Klebsiella pneumoniae) in addition to five fungi (Aspergillus flavus, A. carbonarus, Penicillium verrucosum, Fusarium verticelloides and A. niger) were tested by the disk diffusion technique. The antibacterial and antifungal results suggest that the prepared AgX nP’s show high activity against the tested organisms compared to tetracycline and nystatin taken as standard drugs. As an application, the use of the prepared AgX nP’s as photo catalyst for the decontamination of malathion as VX chemical warfare agent (CWA) stimulant from water sample was extensively studied.

Objective： To investigate the effects of hydro-alcoholic extract of Launaea acanthodes, a blood glucose lowering plant in folk medicine of Iran, on the structure of seminiferous tubules and serum gonadotropin and testosterone levels in hyperglycemic rats. Methods： Twenty-four Wistar rats were randomly allocated into 4 groups （n=6）： control, streptozotocin （STZ）, STZ ＋ insulin [STZ ＋ Ins, 5 IU/（kg·day）], and STZ ＋ Launaea acanthodes extract [STZ ＋ Ext, 150 mg/（kg·day）]. Blood samples were collected at the 2nd and 4th weeks for detection of testosterone, follicle stimulating hormone （FSH） and luteinizing hormone （LH） with enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay （ELISA）, and the dght testes of rats were removed at the 7th week for the evaluation of diameter and wall thickness of seminiferous tubules and number of Leydig cells using unbiased stereological techniques. Results： in comparison with the control group, at the 2nd week FSH （0.45 vs 0.03, 0.02, 0.02 lUlL in STZ, STZ ＋ Ins and STZ ＋ Ext groups, respectively） and LH （1.02 vs 0.37, 0.2, 0.29 IU/L） showed significant decreases （all P〈0.05） and testosterone （4.2 vs 8.37, 7.78, 11.8 ng/mL） showed a remarkable increase （all P〈0.05）. The levels of these hormones became closer in the STZ ＋ Ext and the STZ ＋ Ins groups to the control at the 4th week. A significant decrease in diameter and wall thickness of seminiferous tubules and number of Leydig cells were observed in the STZ group as compared with the control （P〈0.01）. Conclusions： Administration of Launaea extract demonstrated a beneficial impact on the protection of testis from pathogenic and degenerative effects of hyperglycemia which may be partly due to its potential antioxidative effects.
