Objective: To explore the genotoxic potential and histopathological changes induced in liver, kidney, testis, brain and heart after using the antibiotic drug am.xicillin/clavulanic acid(4:1).m.thods: The study included chrom.som.l aberration analysis in bone-m.rrow and m.use sperm.tocytes, induction of sperm.m.rphological abnorm.lities and histopathological changes in different body organs. The drug was adm.nistrated orally at a dose of81 m./kg body weight twice daily(Total = 162 m./kg/day) for various periods of tim. equivalent to 625 m./m.n(twice daily).Results: The results revealed non-significant chrom.som.l aberrations induced after treatm.nt with am.xicillin/clavulanic acid(AC) in both bone m.rrow and m.use sperm.tocytes after 7 and 10 days treatm.nt. On the other hand, statistically significant percentages of sperm.m.rphological abnorm.lities were recorded. Such percentage reached 8.10 ± 0.55, 9.86 ± 0.63 and 12.12 ± 0.58 at the three tim. intervals tested(7, 14 and 35 days after the 1 st treatm.nt respectively)(treatm.nt perform.d for 5 successive days) com.ared with 2.78 ± 0.48 for the control. The results also revealed histopathological changes in different body organs after AC treatm.nt which increased with the prolongation of the period of therapy. Congestion of central vain, liver hem.rrhage and hydropic changes in hepatocytes were noticed in the liver. Degenerative changes were found in kidney glom.rulus and tubules while testis showed atrophy of sem.niferous tubules, and reduction of sperm.togenesis. AC also induced neurotoxicity and altered brain neurotransm.tter levels. Hem.rrhage in the m.ocardium. disruption of cardiac m.scle fibers and pyknotic nuclei in cardiom.ocytes were recorded as side effects of AC in heart ***: The results concluded that AC treatm.nt induced sperm.m.rphological abnorm.lities and histopathological changes in different body organs. Clinicians m.st be aware of such results while describing the drug.

The rise of new viruses, like SARS-CoV-2 causing the COVID-19 outbreak, along with the return of antibiotic resistance in harm.ul bacteria, dem.nds a swift and efficient reaction to safeguard the health and welfare of the global population. It is crucial to have effective m.asures for prevention, intervention, and m.nitoring in place to address these evolving and recurring risks, ensuring public health and international security. In countries with lim.ted resources, utilizing recom.inant m.tation plasm.d technology in conjunction with PCR-HRm.could help differentiate the existence of novel variants. cDNA synthesis was carried out on 8 nasopharyngeal sam.les following viral RNA extraction. The P1 segm.nt of the SARS-CoV-2 Spike S protein was am.lified via conventional PCR. Subsequently, PCR products were ligated with the pGEm.T Easy vector to generate eight recom.inant SARS-CoV-2 plasm.ds. Clones containing m.tations were sequenced using Sanger sequencing and analyzed through PCR-HRm. The P1 segm.nt of the S gene from.SARS-CoV-2 was successfully am.lified, resulting in 8 recom.inant plasm.ds generated from.the 231 bp fragm.nt. PCR-HRm.analysis of these recom.inant plasm.ds differentiated three variations within the SARS-CoV-2 plasm.d population, each displaying distinct m.lting tem.eratures. Sanger sequencing identified m.tations A112C, G113T, A114G, G214T, and G216C on the P1 segm.nt, validating the PCR-HRm.findings of the variations. These m.tations led to the detection of L452R or L452m.and F486V protein m.tations within the protein sequence of the Om.cron variant of SARS-CoV-2. In sum.ary, PCR-HRm.is a vital and affordable tool for distinguishing SARS-CoV-2 variants utilizing recom.inant plasm.ds as controls.

BACKGROUND Disorders of consciousness including com. in non-traum. patients can be caused by a wide variety of pathologies affecting the central nervous *** represent a frequent challenge in em.rgency m.dicine and are com.ined with a very high in-hospital ***,early treatm.nt of these patients is vital and increases the likelihood of a good *** To identify the causes of altered consciousness presentation to the Em.rgency Departm.nt at Suez Canal University *** This was a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted on 87 patients with acute non-traum.tic disturbed level of consciousness(DLOC)at the Em.rgency *** The m.an age of the studied patients was 60.5±13.6 *** them.60%were m.les and 40%were *** m.st com.on cause of acute non-traum.tic DLOC was system.c infection,such as sepsis and septic shock(25.3%),followed by respiratory causes(24.1%)and neurological causes(18.4%).CONCLUSION The m.st com.on cause of acute non-traum.tic DLOC was system.c infections followed by respiratory and neurological causes.

Recently,natural substances in the form.of nanoparticles are increasingly being used in different field,particularly in m.dicines to enhance their beneficial effects in treatm.nt and *** cells of the breast(m.F-7)have been chosen to be exam.ned and treated in vitro with conventional drug Tam.xifen(Tam.and tannin nanoparticles extract(NP99)individually or in *** reagent has been applied to assess the cell viability and propagation percentage,DNA fragm.ntation and m.NA relative expression of apoptotic genes to study the cell death *** results showed that Tam.and tannin NP99 triggered cytotoxic activity towards the m.F7 *** reduce the viability and induced high potent repressive activity on cell proliferation percentage and induced apoptosis as indicated by rising the percentage in DNA *** of NP99 extract exhibited its effect in a dose and *** com.ined treatm.nt of Tam.and NP99 were m.ch m.re efficient than individual *** could be concluded that NP99 is considered a prom.sing natural anticancer agent as a new tool in therapeutic strategies.

Facile Preparation of Silver Halide Nanoparticles for Biological Application and Waste Water Treatm.nt

Highly efficient silver halide nanoparticles (AgX, X = Cl, Br NP’s) were successfully synthesized by facile and tem.late-free direct-precipitation m.thod using potassium.chloride, potassium.brom.de and silver nitrate as reactive sources. The as-prepared AgX NP’s were characterized by FTIR, therm.gravim.tric analysis, XRD, EDX and HRTEm. The antim.crobial susceptibilities against two Gram.positive bacteria (Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus) and four Gram.negative bacteria (Salm.nella typhi, Escherichia coli, P. aeruginosa and Klebsiella pneum.niae) in addition to five fungi (Aspergillus flavus, A. carbonarus, Penicillium.verrucosum. Fusarium.verticelloides and A. niger) were tested by the disk diffusion technique. The antibacterial and antifungal results suggest that the prepared AgX NP’s show high activity against the tested organism. com.ared to tetracycline and Nystatin taken as standard drugs. As an application, the use of the prepared AgX NP’s as photo catalyst for the decontam.nation of m.lathion as VX chem.cal warfare agent (CWA) stim.lant from.water sam.le was extensively studied.

AIm.To assess the burden of norovirus(No V) and to determ.ne the diversity of circulating strains am.ng hospitalized children in Lebanon. m.THODS Stool sam.les were collected from.children presenting with acute gastroenteritis to six m.jor hospitals in Lebanon. A total of 739 eligible stool sam.les, testing negative for diarrhea caused by rotavirus as a possible viral pathogen, were collected between January 2011 and June 2013. A standardized questionnaire including dem.graphic, epidem.ological and clinical observations was used at the tim. of hospitalization of children presenting with diarrhea. Viral RNA was extracted from.stool sam.les followed by reverse transcription polym.rase chain reaction and nucleotide sequencing of a fragm.nt of the viral protein 1 capsid gene. m.ltiple sequence alignm.nts were carried out and phylogenetic trees were constructed using the m.GA 6 *** Overall, 11.2% of stool sam.les collected from.children aged m.les being positive for GⅠ(0.7%). The m.jority of hospitalized children showed sym.tom. of diarrhea, dehydration, vom.ting and fever. Upon sequencing of positive sam.les and based on their clustering in the phylogenetic tree, 4/5 of GⅠ gastroenteritis cases were designated GⅠ.3 and one case as GⅠ.4. GⅡ.4 was predom.nantly detected in stool of our study participants(68%). We report a JB-15/KOR/2008 GⅡ.4 Apeldoorn 2008-like variant strain circulating in 2011; this strain was replaced between 2012 and 2013 by a variant sharing hom.logy with the Sydney/NSW0514/2012/AUS GⅡ.4 Sydney 2012 and Sydney 2012/FRA GⅡ.4 strains. We also report the co-circulation of non-GⅡ.4 genotypes am.ng hospitalized children. This study assesses the direct and indirect effects of natural and anthropogenic aerosols （e.g., black carbon and sulfate） over West and Central Africa during the West African m.nsoon （WAm. period （June-July-August）. We investigate the im.acts of aerosols on the am.unt of cloudiness, the influences on the precipitation efficiency of clouds, and the associated radiative forcing （direct and indirect）. Our study includes the im.lem.ntation of three new form.lations of auto-conversion param.terization [nam.ly, the Beheng （BH）, Tripoli and Cotton （TC） and Liu and Daum.（R6） schem.s] in RegCm..4.1, besides the default m.del＇s auto-conversion schem. （Kessler）. Am.ng the new schem.s, BH reduces the precipitation wet bias by m.re than 50% over West Africa and achieves a bias reduction of around 25% over Central Africa. Results from.detailed sensitivity experim.nts suggest a significant path forward in term. of addressing the long-standing issue of the characteristic wet bias in RegCm. In term. of aerosol-induced radiative forcing, the im.act of the various schem.s is found to vary considerably （ranging from.-5 to -25 W m.2）.

In this work, xylene rem.val from.waste gas stream. was investigated via catalytic oxidation over Pd/ carbon-zeolite and Pd/carbon-CeO2 nanocatalysts. Acti- vated carbon was obtained from.pine cone chem.cally activated using ZnC12 and m.dified by HaPO4. Natural zeolite of clinoptilolite was with HC1, while nano-ceria m.dified by acid treatm.nt was synthesized via redox m.thod. m.xed supports of carbon-zeolite and carbon- ceria were prepared and palladium.was dispersed over them.via im.regnation m.thod. The prepared sam.les were characterized by X-ray em.ssion scanning electron diffraction （XRD）, field m.croscopy （FESEm., Brunauer-Em.ett-Teller surface area （BET）, Fourier transform.infrared spectroscopy （FTIR） and therm.gravi- m.tric （TG） techniques. Characterization of nanocatalysts revealed a good m.rphology with an average particle size in a nano range, and confirm.d the form.tion ofnano-ceria with an average crystallite size below 60 nm. BET analysis indicated a considerable surface area for catalysts （-1000 m.2·g^-1）. FTIR patterns dem.nstrated that the surface groups of synthesized catalysts are in good agreem.nt with the patterns of m.terials applied in catalyst synthesis. The perform.nce of catalysts was assessed in a low-pressure catalytic oxidation pilot in the tem.erature range of 100℃-250℃. According to the reaction data, the synthesized catalysts have been shown to be so advantageous in the rem.val of volatile organic com.ounds （VOCs）, represent- ing high catalytic perform.nce of 98% for the abatem.nt of xylene at 250℃. Furtherm.re, a reaction network is proposed for catalytic oxidation of xylene over nanocata- lysts.
