Thermally Conductive,Healable Glass Fiber Cloth Reinforced Polymer Composite based onβ-Hydroxyester Bonds Crosslinked Epoxy with Improved Heat Resistance

To simultaneously endow thermal conductivity,high glass transition temperature(Tg)and healing capability to glass fiber/epoxy(GFREP)composite,dynamic crosslinked epoxy resin bearing reversibleβ-hydroxyl ester bonds was reinforced with boron nitride nanosheets modified glass fiber cloth(GFC@BNNSs).The in-plane heat conduction paths were constructed by electrostatic self-assembly of polyacrylic acid treated GFC and polyethyleneimine decorated ***,the GFC@BNNSs were impregnated with the mixture of lower concentration(3-glycidyloxypropyl)trimethoxysilane grafted BN micron sheets,3,4-epoxycyclohexylmethyl 3,4-epoxycyclohexanecarboxylate and hexahydro-4-methylphthalic anhydride,which accounted for establishing the through-plane heat transport pathways and avoiding serious deterioration of mechanical *** resultant GFREP composite containing less boron nitride particles(17.6 wt%)exhibited superior in-plane(3.29 W·m^(-1)·K^(-1))and through-plane(1.16 W·m^(-1)·K^(-1))thermal conductivities,as well as high Tg of 204℃(Tg of the unfilled epoxy=177℃).The reversible transesterification reaction enabled closure of interlaminar cracks within the composite,achieving decent healing efficiencies estimated by means of tensile strength(71.2%),electrical breakdown strength(83.6%)and thermal conductivity(69.1%).The present work overcame the disadvantages of conventional thermally conductive composites,and provided an efficient approach to prolong the life span of thermally conductive GFREP laminate for high-temperature resistant integrated circuit application.

Imparting Pulley Effect and Self-healability to Cathode Binder of Li-S Battery for Improvement of the Cycling Stability

To construct structurally stable sulfur cathode of Li-S battery with improved cycling performance,poly(acrylic acid)(PAA)crosslinked by cationic hydroxypropyl polyrotaxane(HPRN+)via dynamically reversible boronic ester bonds is synthesized and serves as the cathode *** smart polymer networks offer multifunction including buffering the volume change of the cathode during charge/discharge through the pulley effect of polyrotaxanes(PR),suppressing the shuttle effect by adsorption of polysulfide using the plentiful carboxyl,hydroxyl and quaternary ammonium cationic groups,and self-healing the micro-damages to ensure stable conduction pathways of the *** a result,the Li-S batteries based on this novel multifunctional binder and simple commercial sulfur/carbon composites cathode exhibit excellent specific capacity and cycling *** particular,the specific capacity decay per cycle of the cell is only 0.064%along with high Coulombic efficiency after 550 cycles at 1.0 C,which is superior to most of the reported *** under high sulfur loading,moreover,the cathode can deliver superior areal capacity and cycling *** proposed binder provides a new way for the design of high-stability sulfur cathodes.

A novel strategy for producing high-performance continuous regenerated fibers with wool-like structure

We proposed a novel approach to prepare high-performance continuous regenerated keratin fibers with wool-like structure by using the cortical cells and linear keratin from wool waste as reinforcement and adhesive,*** spindle-shaped cortical cells were taken from wool waste based on the different responses of cortical cells and mesenchyme in wool to the treatments of H_(2)O_(2) oxidation and *** linear keratin was yielded through dissolving wool waste in the green solution consisting of starch derived dithiothreitol and protein denaturant sodium dodecyl *** recycled keratin fibers were produced by wet-spinning of the mixture solution comprising of cortical cells,linear keratin and toughener poly(ethylene glycol)diacrylate,and crosslinked by glutaraldehyde and 4,4′-methylenebis-(phenyl isocyanate).The cortical cells were aligned along the regenerated fibers axis and retained quite a fewα-helical crystals of the intermediate filaments,benefitting improvement of mechanical ***,the valuable chemical compositions and hierarchical microstructures of wool were largely *** mechanical properties,thermal stability,dyeing property,moisture absorption capability,and antistatic resistance resembled those of *** regenerated fibers contained 93.3 wt.%components of wool,and the amount of synthetic chemicals in the regenerated fibers was controlled to as low as 6.7 wt.%.

In order to study the influence of crystal structure change due to implantation dose on the hardness and wear performance of 300M high-strength steel,samples were surface modified by Cr implantation with dosages of 5.0 × 10^16,1.5 × 10^17 and 3.0 × 10^17 ions/cm^2.X-ray diffraction method,which was already applied in studies on the microstructure of deformed and heat-treated materials,was used to study the crystal structure of the implanted steel,and the results were corrected with the hardness and wear *** solid solution strengthening effect and microstructure vary with increase in implantation *** to strong solid solution hardening of Cr,small average crystallite size and high dislocation density,the hardness and wear resistance of implanted steel with dose of 5.0 × 10^16 ions/cm^2 were found to be the highest compared with other ***,although the crystal lite size of the implanted sample with dose of 3 × 10^17 ions/cm^2 was similar to that of substrate and the dislocation density was lower than that of the substrate,its higher hardness and lower specific wear rate were due to the solid solution hardening and perhaps Cr clusters reinforcement.

Risk evaluation for diabetic retinopathy in Chinese renalbiopsied type 2 diabetes mellitus patients

AIM:To investigate diabetic retinopathy(DR)prevalence in Chinese renal-biopsied type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)patients with kidney dysfunction,and to further evaluate its relationship with diabetic nephropathy(DN)incidence and the risk factors for DR development in this ***:A total of 84 renal-biopsied T2DM patients were *** and imaging examinations were employed for DR *** information and clinical measures along with renal histopathology were analyzed for comparisons between the DR and non-DR *** factors on DR development were analyzed with multiple logistic ***:DR prevalence was 50%in *** incidences of DN,non-diabetic renal disease(NDRD)and mixed-type pathology were 47.6%,19.0%and 33.3%in the DR group respectively,while 11.9%,83.3%and 4.8%in the non-DR *** blood pressure,ratio of urinary albumin to creatine ratio,urinary albumin,24-hours urinary protein,the incidence and severity of DN histopathology were found statistically increased in the DR *** logistic regression analysis showed histopathological DN incidence significantly increased the risk of DR development[odds ratio(OR)=21.664,95%confidential interval(CI)5.588 to 83.991,P<0.001 for DN,and OR=45.475,95%CI 6.949 to 297.611,P<0.001 for mixed-type,respectively,in reference to (NDRD)],wherein DN severity positively ***:Renal histopathological evidence indicates DN incidence and severity increases the risk of DR development in Chinese T2DM patients inexperienced of regular fundus examinations.

Solar evaporation for simultaneous oil-water separation and electricity generation with Janus wood-based absorbers

Oily wastewater from ocean oil spills endangers marine ecosystems and human health. Therefore, developing an effective and sustainable solution for separating oil-water mixtures is urgent. Interfacial solar photothermal evaporation is a promising approach for the complete separation of two-phase mixtures using only solar energy. Herein, we report a carbonized wood-based absorber with Janus structure of comprising a hydrophobic top-layer and an oleophobic bottom-layer for simultaneous solar-driven oil-water separation and electricity generation. Under sunlight irradiation, the rapid evaporation of seawater will induce a separation of oil-water mixtures, and cause a high salt concentration region underlying the interface, while the bottom “bulk water” maintains in a low salt concentration, thus forming a salinity gradient. Electricity can be generated by salinity gradient power. Therefore, oil-water separation efficiency of > 99% and derived extra electricity power of ~0.1 W/m2 is achieved under solar radiation, demonstrating the feasibility of oil-water separation and electricity production synchronously directly using solar energy. This work provides a green and cost-effective path for the separation of oil-water mixtures.

Controlling the Si/C ratio in SiC matrix based on the modified polymethysilane for C/C-SiC composites with enhanced mechanical properties

Fabricating SiC matrix with controllable Si/C ratio for C/C-SiC composites via precursor infiltration and pyrolysis is difficult to realize due to the absence of suitable ***,SiC precursors with Si-rich(Si/C=1.23),nearstoichiometric(Si/C=1.01),and C-rich(Si/C=0.88)pyrolyzed ceramics at 1200℃ were successfully synthesized by the novel modification of *** structure and ceramization of synthesized SiC precursors were studied,and C/C-SiC composites with similar Si/C ratio in SiC matrix were also *** results revealed that the defects and Young’s modulus of SiC matrix and the thermal residual stress on pyrolytic carbon coated carbon fiber were determined by the Si/C *** a result,the Si/C ratio exerted significant effects on the crack deflection behavior and the mechanical properties of the *** composites with near-stoichiometric SiC matrix showed excellent mechanical properties because of the effective crack deflection and the moderate Young’s modulus of their SiC *** flexural strength,flexural modulus,and compressive strength were 423±27 MPa,33.41±4.52 GPa,and 393±8 MPa,***,after a heat treatment at 1600℃,the role of carbon fiber toughening was improved and accompanied by a decrease in mechanical properties for all composites,which was attributed to the increased defects in SiC matrix and the damaged interfaces by the thermal residual stress.

Integrated Active Suspension and Anti-Lock Braking Control for Four-Wheel-Independent-Drive Electric Vehicles

This paper presents an integrated control scheme for enhancing the ride comfort and handling performance of a four-wheel-independent-drive electric vehicle through the coordination of active suspension system(ASS)and anti-lock braking system(ABS).First,a longitudinal-vertical coupled vehicle dynamics model is established by integrating a road input *** the coupling mechanisms between longitudinal and vertical vehicle dynamics are *** ASS-ABS integrated control system is proposed,utilizing an H∞controller for ASS to optimize load transfer effect and a neural network sliding mode control for ABS ***,the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is evaluated through comprehensive tests conducted on a hardware-in-loop(HIL)test *** HIL test results demonstrate that the proposed control scheme can significantly improve the braking performance and ride comfort compared to conventional ABS control methods.

Amorphous Sb/C composite with isotropic expansion property as an ultra-stable and high-rate anode for lithium-ion batteries

Antimony(Sb)is an intriguing anode material for Li-ion batteries(LIBs)owing to its high theoretical capacity of 660 m Ah·g^(-1)and appropriate working potential of~0.8 V(***^(+)/Li).However,just like all alloying materials,the Sb anode suffers from huge volume expansion(230%)during repeated insertion/extraction of Li+ions,resulting in structural deterioration and rapid capacity *** this work,a novel amorphous Sb/C composite with atomically dispersed Sb particles in carbon matrix is prepared via a straightforward high-energy ball milling *** intimate intermixing of amorphous Sb with C provides homogeneous element distribution and isotropic volume expansion during cycling,resulting in persistent structural ***,the disordered structure of amorphous material shortens the diffusion distance of lithium ions/electrons,promoting fast reaction kinetics and rate *** from the aforementioned effects,the amorphous Sb/C exhibits a high reversible capacity of537.4 m Ah·g^(-1)at 0.1 A·g^(-1)and retains 201.0 m Ah·g^(-1)at an ultrahigh current rate of 10.0 A·g^(-1).Even after 1500deep cycles at 2.0 A·g^(-1),the amorphous Sb/C electrode still maintains 86.3%of its initial capacity,which outperforms all existing Sb-based anodes reported so *** analysis further reveals a greatly reduced volume variation of merely 34.6%for the amorphous Sb/C electrode,much lower than that of 223.1%for crystalline Sb *** study presents a new approach to stabilizing Sb-based alloy anodes and contributes to the construction of high-performance amorphous anode materials for LIBs,enabling advanced energy storage.
