Nitroso compounds have emerged as highly valuable reaction partners or reagents in organic synthesis due to their rich *** versatile profile of these compounds allows them to function as electrophiles, nucleophiles, diradicals, and radical acceptors in diverse transformations. In recent years, notable progress has been made in harnessing photochemical reactions with nitroso compounds to prepare N,O-containing structures using mild and eco-friendly conditions. Various nitroso compounds like nitrosoarenes, acyloxy nitroso compounds, N-nitrosoamines and nitrites have received significant attention for their ability to introduce NO moieties into complex molecules that are otherwise difficult to access. In this review, we provide an overview of the recent advancements in the visible light-induced conversion of nitroso compounds, with particular emphasis on their role as bifunctional reagents and acceptors of radicals, carbenes and nitrenes.

Polymeric microwave actuators combining tissue-like softness with programmablemicrowave-responsive deformation hold great promise for mobile intelligentdevices and bionic soft robots. However, their application is challenged by restricted electromagneticsensitivity and intricate sensing coupling. In this study, a sensitized polymericmicrowave actuator is fabricated by hybridizing a liquid crystal polymer with Ti3C2Tx(MXene). Compared to the initial counterpart, the hybrid polymer exhibits unique spacechargepolarization and interfacial polarization, resulting in significant improvements of230% in the dielectric loss factor and 830% in the apparent efficiency of electromagneticenergy harvest. The sensitized microwave actuation demonstrates as the shortenedresponse time of nearly 10 s, which is merely 13% of that for the initial shape memory polymer. Moreover, the ultra-low content of MXene (upto 0.15 wt%) benefits for maintaining the actuation potential of the hybrid polymer. An innovative self-powered sensing prototype that combinesdriving and piezoelectric polymers is developed, which generates real-time electric potential feedback (open-circuit potential of ~ 3 mV) duringactuation. The polarization-dominant energy conversion mechanism observed in the MXene-polymer hybrid structure furnishes a new approachfor developing efficient electromagnetic dissipative structures and shows potential for advancing polymeric electromagnetic intelligent devices.

Abstract: The degradation of the large subunit (LSU) of ribulose-1, 5–bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco; EC 4.***.1.39) in wheat (Triticum aestivum L. cv. Yangmai 158) leaves was investigated. A 50 kDa fragment, a portion of the LSU of Rubisco, was detected by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and immunoblotting with antibody against tobacco Rubisco in crude enzyme extract of young wheat leaves. The appearance of the 50 kDa fragment was most obvious at 30–35 °C and pH 5.5. The LSU and its 50 kDa fragment both existed when the crude enzyme extract was incubated for 60 min. The amount of LSU decreased with incubation time from 0 to 3 h in crude enzyme extract. However, the 50 kDa fragment could not be found any pH from 4.5 to 8.5 in chloroplast lysates of young wheat leaves. In addition, through treatment with various inhibitors, reactions were inhibited by cysteine proteinase inhibitor E-64 or leupeptin.

AIM: To investigate the effects of electroporation on primaryrat hepatocyte and to optimize the electroporation conditionsintroducing foreign genes into primary ***: A single-pulse procedure was performed at Iowvoltage (220-400 V) but with high capacitance (500-950 μF).Hepatocytes were divided into 4 groups according to theelectroporation conditions: group Ⅰ, 220 V and 500 μF;group Ⅱ, 220 Vand 950 μF; group Ⅲ, 400 V and 950 μF,and group Ⅳ.The control group was freshly isolatedhepatocytes and directly cultured under the same conditionsas those of electroporation groups. The effects ofelectroporation on primary rat hepatocytes were detectedby trypan blue exclusion (TBE) and MTT analysis. Besides,albumin (AIb), alanine transaminase (ALT) and lactatedehydrogenase (LDH) in the supernatants of culturedhepatocytes were measured by biochemical ***: Between day 1 and day 15 after incubation,primary rat hepatocytes of each electroporation groupappeared normal, being the same with those of controlgroup. TBE staining showed that slight hepatocyte damageand high survival rate were found in the electroporationgroups and the control group. Cultured for 3, 7, 11 and 15days, hepatocyte viability was approximatly 92.6±2.5 %,89.5±3.3 %, 82.0±3.5 % and 74.3±1.2 %, *** analysis indicated that the viabilities of hepatocyteshad no significant difference between each electroporationgroup, and those were similar to that of control group. Atthe 36th hour after electroporation, AIb, ALT and LDH in thesupernatants of control group were 5.3±0.1 g. L-1, 183.7±8.4 nkat. L-1 and 896.8±58.5 nkat. L-1; those of group Ⅱwere 5.7±0.1 g. L-1, 215.4±16.7 nkat. L-1 and 1063.8±51.8 nkat. L-1; and those of group Ⅲ were 5.80.2 g. L-1,217.1 ± 8.4 nkat. L-1 and 1063.8± 10.0 nkat. L-1 . Statistically,the proteins of group Ⅱ and group Ⅲ were significantlyhigher than those of control group (P＜0.05), whereas theprotein production of group Ⅰ, AIb, ALT and LDH were 5.3±0.2 g. L

AIM: Genetic polymorphisms of drug-metabolizing enzymes have recently been shown to affect susceptibility to chemical carcinogenesis. Cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) enzyme catalyzes the metabolism of many procarcinogens, such as N-nitrosamines and related compounds. The gene coding for this enzyme is polymorphic and thus may play a role in gastric cardia cancer (GCC) etiology. In this hospital-based case-control study, we evaluate the relationship between genetic polymorphisms of CYP2E1 and the risk of GCC. METHODS: The study subjects comprised 159 histologically confirmed GCC cases identified via hospital cancer registry and surgical records at five hospitals in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China, between April and November 2001. Controls were 192 patients admitted to the same hospitals for nonmalignant conditions. The genotypes of CYP2E1 were detected by a PCR-based RFLP assay. The odds ratios were estimated by logistic regression analyses and were adjusted for potential confounding factors. RESULTS: The distribution of three genotypes of CYP2E1 in GCC cases and controls was significantly different (X2 = 16.04, P<0.01). The frequency of the CYP2E1 (c1/c1) genotype in GCC cases and controls was 60.4% and 40.1%, respectively. The CYP2E1 (c1/c1) genotype was associated with an increased risk for GCC (the adjusted (OR) was 2.37, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.52-3.70). Subjects who carried the CYP2E1 (c1/c1) genotype and were habitual smokers were at a significantly higher risk of developing GCC (OR = 4.68,95%CT. 2.19-10.04) compared with those who had the CYP2E1 (c1/c2 or c2/c2) genotype and did not smoke. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that the CYP2E1 genotype may influence individual susceptibility to development of GCC, and that the risk increases significantly in smokers.
