ZnFe2O4 deposited on BiOCl with exposed （001） and （010） facets for photocatalytic reduction of C02 in cyclohexanol

ZnFe2O4-BiOC1 composites were prepared by both hydrothermal and direct precipitation processes and the structures and properties of the samples were characterized by various instrumental techniques. The samples were then used as catalysts for the photocatalytic reduction of CQ in cyclohexanol under ultraviolet irradiation to give cyclohexanone （CH） and cyclohexyl formate （CF）. The photocatalytic CO2 reduction activities over the hydrothermally prepared ZnFeaO4-BiOCl composites were higher than those over the directly-precipitated composites. This is because compared to the direct-precipitation sample, the ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles in the hydrothermal sample were smaller and more uniformly distributed on the surface of BiOCl and so more heterojunctions were formed. Higher CF and CH yields were obtained for the pure BiOCl and BiOCl composite samples with more exposed （001） facets than for the samples with more exposed （010） facets. This is due to the higher density of oxygen atoms in the exposed （001） facets, which creates more oxygen vacancies, and thereby improves the separation efficiency of the electron-hole pairs. More importantly, irradiation of the （001） facets with ultraviolet light produces photo-generated electrons which is helpful for the reduction of CO2 to -CO2^-. The mechanism for the photocatalytic reduction of CO2 in cyclohexanol over ZnFe204-BiOCl composites with exposed （001） facets involves electron transfer and carbon radical formation.

The mechanical behavior of cemented gangue backfill materials(CGBMs)is closely related to particle size distribution(PSD)of aggregates and properties of cementitious ***,the true triaxial compression tests,CT scanning,SEM,and EDS tests were conducted on cemented gangue backfill samples(CGBSs)with various carbon nanotube concentrations(P_(CNT))that satisfied fractal theory for the PSD of *** mechanical properties,energy dissipations,and failure mechanisms of the CGBSs under true triaxial compression were systematically *** results indicate that appropriate carbon nanotubes(CNTs)effectively enhance the mechanical properties and energy dissipations of CGBSs through micropore filling and microcrack bridging,and the optimal effect appears at P_(CNT)of 0.08wt%.Taking PSD fractal dimension(D)of 2.500 as an example,compared to that of CGBS without CNT,the peak strength(σ_(p)),axial peak strain(ε_(1,p)),elastic strain energy(Ue),and dissipated energy(U_(d))increased by 12.76%,29.60%,19.05%,and90.39%,***,excessive CNTs can reduce the mechanical properties of CGBSs due to CNT agglomeration,manifesting a decrease inρ_(p),ε_(1,p),and the volumetric strain increment(Δε_(v))when P_(CNT)increases from 0.08wt%to 0.12wt%.Moreover,the addition of CNTs improved the integrity of CGBS after macroscopic failure,and crack extension in CGBSs appeared in two modes:detour and pass through the ***σ_(p)and U_(d)firstly increase and then decrease with increasing D,and porosity shows the opposite ***ε_(1,p)andΔε_(v)are negatively correlated with D,and CGBS with D=2.150 has the maximum deformation parameters(ε_(1,p)=0.05079,Δε_(v)=0.01990)due to the frictional slip effect caused by coarse *** increasing D,the failure modes of CGBSs are sequentially manifested as oblique shear failure,"Y-shaped"shear failure,and conjugate shear failure.

Abundant TiO2-Ⅱ,a high-pressure polymorph of titanium dioxide,was found in the gneiss fragments of impact-produced breccias from the Xiuyan *** in the gneiss was severely fragmented and fine-grained clasts less than 2 m in size had been transformed to *** thin layered TiO2-Ⅱ is also observed in coarse-grained rutile fragments,where the TiO2-Ⅱ layers distributes along fractures and cracks in *** 30 percent of rutile in the gneiss had been transformed to TiO2-Ⅱ.Fine grains of TiO2-Ⅱ display light bluish grey to light yellow brown in plane-polarized reflected *** investigation shows that TiO2-Ⅱ has an orthorhombic structure with space group *** cell parameters are a=4.543(1),b=5.491(9)and c=4.895(2).Its empirical formula calculated on the basis of two oxygen atoms can be written as(Ti0.985Fe0.008Nb0.006-Si0.003Zr0.001)1.003O2,or simply formula *** to the shock effects of quartz and feldspars,the peak shock pressure and post-shock temperature in the TiO2-Ⅱ-bearing gneiss are estimated to be between 35 and 43 GPa and 300–900°C,*** finding of TiO2-Ⅱ in the shock-metamorphosed gneiss provides another mineral physics evidence for shock origin of the Xiuyan crater.

The goal of infrared （IR） and visible image fu- sion is for the fused image to contain IR object features from the IR image and retain the visual details provided by the visible image. The disadvantage of traditional fusion method based on independent component analysis （ICA） is that the primary feature information that describes the IR objects and the secondary feature information in the IR image are fused into the fused image. Secondary feature information can de- press the visual effect of the fused image. A novel ICA-based IR and visible image fusion scheme is proposed in this paper. ICA is employed to extract features from the infrared image, and then the primary and secondary features are distinguished by the kurtosis information of the ICA base coefficients. The secondary features of the IR image are discarded during fu- sion. The fused image is obtained by fusing primary features into the visible image. Experimental results show that the pro- posed method can provide better perception effect.

Influence of stress anisotropy on the cylindrical cavity expansion in undrained elastic-perfectly plastic soil

This work presents an analysis of the influence of stress anisotropy on cylindrical cavity expansions in an undrained elastic-perfectly plastic soil. This problem was formulated by assuming a large strain in both the elastic and plastic zones around the cavity and a plain strain condition during the cavity expansion process. The solutions for the limit pressure, stress, and excess pore pressure were obtained by introducing the anisotropic initial stress coefficient K_0 into the conventional cylindrical cavity expansion *** proposed solutions were then used to interpret the piezocone penetration test, and the suitability of the solutions was verified by comparing the prediction with the piezocone penetration test data. Subsequently, parametric studies were carried out to investigate the influence of stress anisotropy on the stress, excess pores pressure distributions around an expanding cylindrical cavity, and limit pressure. The results show that the proposed cylindrical cavity expansion method under stress anisotropy is suitable and can be used to investigate the piezocone cone test. The present work improves upon the conventional theoretical framework of cavity expansion and can be applied to the determination of the stresses around axially loaded piles and around in-situ testing devices such as penetrometers.

Improved preparation and identification of aristolochic acid-DNA adducts by solid-phase extraction with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry

Aristolochic acid （AA） is a known nephrotoxin and potential carcinogen, which can form covalent DNA adducts after metabolic activation in vivo and in vitro. A simple method for preparation and characterization of aristolochic acid-DNA adducts was developed. Four AA-adducts were synthesized by a direct reaction of AAI/AAII with 2′-deoxynucleosides. The reaction mixture was first cleaned-up and pre-concentrated using solid phase extraction （SPE）, and further purified by a reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography （HPLC）. By the application of developed SPE procedure, matrices and byproducts in reaction mixture could be greatly reduced and adducts of high purity （more than 94% as indicated by HPLC） were obtained. The purified AA-DNA adducts were identified and characterized with liquid-electrospray ionization-quadrupole-time of flight-mass spectrometry （LC-ESI-Q-TOF-MS/MS） and LC-Diode array detector-fluorescence （LC-DAD-FL） analysis. This work provides a robust tool for possible large-scale preparation of AA-DNA adduct standards, which can promote the further studies on carcinogenic and mutagenic mechanism of aristolochic acids.

The detection efficiency of the fission chamber(FC) is very important for studying the neutron flux measurement(NFM) system in ITER. In this article, we mainly focus our attention on the influence of the moderator. With the Monte Carlo particle transport simulation tool named Geant4, we make a simulation of FC detection efficiency with different levels of thickness of a beryllium *** manufactured FCs for ITER-NFM systems are then used to test the parameters and performance. The test results agree well with our simulation.

A real-time double-ring neutron time-of-flight(TOFII) spectrometer system has been proposed to achieve plasma diagnosis on HL-2M tokamak with a relatively high count rate and sufficient energy *** TOFII system is in its development stage,and this work describes its characteristics in terms of design principle,system structure,electronic system design,preliminary tests,and neutron transport *** preliminary test results illustrate that the TOFII system can demonstrate the realtime dynamic spectrum every 10 *** results also show that based on the support vector machine method,the n-γ discrimination algorithm achieves the discrimination accuracy of 99.1%with a figure of merit of 1.30,and the intrinsic timing resolution of the system is within 0.3%.The simulated flight time spectrums from 1 to 5 MeV are obtained through the Monte Carlo tool Geant4,which also provide the reasonable *** TOFII system will then be calibrated on mono-energetic neutron sources for further verification.
