Effects of Sialic Acid from Edible Bird Nest on Cell Viability Associated with Brain Cognitive Performance in Mice

Background:Edible bird nest(EBN)is a natural food product rich in glycoprotein such as sialic acid,which has been reported to improve brain *** EBN is widely consumed due to its higher nutritional contents and antioxidant status;however,an interaction of EBN on brain cell metabolic activity and viability are still ***:The objectives of this study were to identify the effect of sialic acid from EBN on the cell viability and to determine the appropriate concentration of sialic acid on cognitive performance in *** and Methods:The viability of pheochromocytoma and neuroblastoma cell lines were tested using the 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide *** in vivo study,7-week-old female BALB/c mice were randomly assigned into four treatment groups and were treated with sialic acid for 21 *** day 22,all mice were tested on cognitive performance by Y-maze ***:Treatment concentration of sialic acid extract and sialic acid standard at 60μg/mL(0.6 ppm)increased cell viability and showed no cytotoxicity effects in pheochromocytoma and neuroblastoma cell *** addition,an administration of higher dose of sialic acid at 0.6 ppm in animals improved Y-maze test performance,which they showed significantly higher number of entries and time spent in the novel ***:Thus,the current study shows that the sialic acid extract at 0.6 ppm improved brain cognitive performance in mice associated with an increased viability of pheochromocytoma and neuroblastoma cell lines.

Background:The prevalence of pediatric mental illnesses has been increasing in recent years,with a great potential to impact on individual's functionality and adaptation in ***:This study aims to assess emotional and behavioral problems among schoolchildren in Herat City of ***:This cross-sectional study was conducted on schoolchildren(grade 5-10),between September and November *** data was collected using a paper-based 14-item structured *** on emotional and behavioral problems was collected using the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire(SDQ)based on teachers'and children's *** analyses were performed in IBM SPSS Statistics(version 27).Results:A total of 418 students,including 190(45.5%)males and 228(54.5%)females with a mean age of 14.1±1.7(11-<18)years were included in the *** prevalence of students*self-reported total difficulties and prosocial problem were 5.7%and 1.2%,*** insignificant difference was observed between mean total difficulties scores between students'self-reported and teachers'reported ***,grade,concern about shortage of food,and concern about losing house were significantly predicting students'self-reported total difficulties ***:This is the first study to report the prevalence of emotional and behavioral problems among schoolchildren in Herat City,***,together with relevant global literature,highlight the need to address pediatric mental health,and provide services aimed at preventing,and treating children with these problems around the world.

Let P（z）=anz^n＋an-1z^n-1＋…＋a0be a complex polynomial of degree n. There is a close connection between the coefficients and the zeros of P（z）. In this paper we prove some sharp inequalities concerning the coefficients of the polynomial P（z） with restricted zeros. We also establish a sufficient condition for the separation of zeros of P（z）.

Prevalence and associated factors of depression,anxiety and stress among coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients in Herat,Afghanistan

Objectives:Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has been associated with a great level of psychological distresses in people around the *** study aims to assess the prevalence of depression,anxiety and stress among COVID-19 patients and identify the associated factors,in Herat Province of ***:This cross-sectional study was conducted on 459 hospitalized patients between May and September *** was collected with a structured questionnaire on depression,anxiety and stress scale,which was the validated ***-square test was adopted to analyze the associations of the prevalence of the mental disorders and the ***:The mean age of participants was 38.05;51.9%(238/459)were male and 84.1%(386/459)were *** scores for depression,anxiety and stress were 5.0,8.0,and 10.0,***,general health condition,nutritional status,COVID-19 clinical manifestation and concurrent comorbidities(except diabetes and hypertension)were significantly associated with mental disorders;while association between marital status and these psychological disorders was not ***,a significant difference was observed in the level of anxiety between healthcare workers and other ***:This is the first study to report the high prevalence of depression,anxiety and stress among COVID-19 patients in Herat,which indicates the negative effect of mental health for COVID-19 patients globally and highlights the need for urgent and appropriate interventions to improve mental health of people during the pandemic.

Structural,electrical,dielectric and magnetic properties of Mn-Nd substituted CoFeO3 nano sized multiferroics

A series of Mn x Co1-xFe1-yNdyO3（where x=0.0–1.0 & y=0.0–0.1） multiferroic nanocrystals was synthesized via sol-gel auto-combustion technique. The structure was confirmed by X-ray diffraction（XRD）while morphology was investigated by scanning electron microscopy（SEM）. The electrical resistivity was observed to increase from 2.14 * 10～7 to 8.77 * 10～9 Ω-cm and activation energy was found to increase from 0.64 to 0.75 e V, while the drift mobility decreased from 4.75 * 10-13to 1.27 * 10-15cm2V-1S-1by the substitution of Mn and Nd contents. The dielectric constant, dielectric loss and dielectric loss factor decrease with frequency and Mn-Nd contents. The saturation magnetization was increased from 34 to 70 emu g-1while the coercivity decreased from 705 to 262 Oe with the increase of *** increase in electrical resistivity and saturation magnetization while decrease in dielectric parameters and coercivity make these nanomaterials suitable for applications in microwave devices and longitudinal magnetic recording media.

A Hybrid Deep Learning-Based Unsupervised Anomaly Detection in High Dimensional Data

Anomaly detection in high dimensional data is a critical research issue with serious implication in the real-world *** issues in this field still unsolved,so several modern anomaly detection methods struggle to maintain adequate accuracy due to the highly descriptive nature of big *** a phenomenon is referred to as the“curse of dimensionality”that affects traditional techniques in terms of both accuracy and ***,this research proposed a hybrid model based on Deep Autoencoder Neural Network(DANN)with five layers to reduce the difference between the input and *** proposed model was applied to a real-world gas turbine(GT)dataset that contains 87620 columns and 56 *** the experiment,two issues have been investigated and solved to enhance the *** first is the dataset class imbalance,which solved using SMOTE *** second issue is the poor performance,which can be solved using one of the optimization *** optimization algorithms have been investigated and tested,including stochastic gradient descent(SGD),RMSprop,Adam and ***,Adamax optimization algorithm showed the best results when employed to train *** experimental results show that our proposed model can detect the anomalies by efficiently reducing the high dimensionality of dataset with accuracy of 99.40%,F1-score of 0.9649,Area Under the Curve(AUC)rate of 0.9649,and a minimal loss function during the hybrid model training.

In 2008,the IUCN threat status of the Asian tapir(Tapirus indicus)was reclasified from‘vulnerable'to‘en-dangered'.The latest distribution map from the IUCN Red List suggests that the tapirs'native range is becom-ing increasingly fragmented in Peninsular Malaysia,but distribution data collected by local researchers sug-gest a more extensive geographical ***,we compile a database of 1261 tapir occurrence records within Peninsular Malaysia,and demonstrate that this species,indeed,has a much broader geographical range than the IUCN range map ***,extreme spatial and temporal bias in these records limits their utility for conservation ***,we used maximum entropy(MaxEnt)modeling to elucidate the potential ex-tent of the Asian tapir's occurrence in Peninsular Malaysia while accounting for bias in existing distribution *** MaxEnt model predicted that the Asian tapir has a wider geographic range than our fine-scale data and the IUCN range map both *** 37%of Peninsular Malaysia contains potentially suit-able tapir *** results justify a revision to the Asian tapir's extent of occurrence in the IUCN Red ***,our modeling demonstrated that selectively logged forests encompass 45%of potentially suitable tapir habitats,underscoring the importance of these habitats for the conservation of this species in Peninsular Malaysia.

Helicobacter pylori infection and gastropathy:A comparison between Indonesian and Japanese patients

AIM： To compare the effects of He/icobacter py/ori （Hpylon） infection on gastropathy between Indonesian and Japanese patients. METHODS： Biopsy specimens were obtained during upper gastrointestinal endoscopy from 167 subjects （125 Indonesians and 42 Japanese） with uninvestigated symptoms of dyspepsia. The specimens were analyzed for the presence of H pylori using urease analysis, histopathology, and cell culture. The grade and activity of gastritis was assessed using the updated Sydney system. RESULTS： The percentages of Indonesian and Japanese patients who were H py/ori-positive at the antrum or body of the stomach were similar （68% and 59.5%, respectively; P = 0.316）. Of those who were Hpylori-positive, more Japanese patients than Indonesian patients had high levels of polymorphonuclear cells （P = 0.001）, mononuclear cells （P = 0.013）, glandular atrophy （P = 0.000）, and intestinal metaplasia （P = 0.011） in both the antrum and body of the stomach. CONCLUSION： The grade of gastritis and prevalence of mucosal atrophy and intestinal metaplasia were higher in Japanese patients. The difference between Indonesian and Japanese patients was significant.

Green Lignosulphonate as co-surfactant for wettability alteration

Surfactant flooding is one of the common tertiary method to recover remaining oil in the reservoir, byreducing the interfacial tension (IFT) between two immiscible fluids nevertheless, current surfactantforms emulsion and difficult to achieve ultra-low IFT between the water and oil without addition of cosurfactant. In this research, two types of anionic lignosulphonate-based surfactants, Sodium Lignosulphonate (SLS) and Calcium Lignosulphonate (CLS) are chosen as co-surfactant. The main surfactantused in this project is the common anionic surfactant, Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS) at a fixed concentration of 4 mmol/l. Each type of co-surfactant with different concentrations (0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5% and2.0 wt %) was mixed with 4 mmol/L of SDS at each test tube to create the surfactant solution. The result ofthe experiment showed that at 0.5 wt % for SLS and CLS surfactant solution, the contact angle of oil tosurface lowered down with a reduction of 6° and 7° respectively. This indicate that the system will bemore water-wet which the oil droplet will be less adhesive to the rock surface. In conclusion, by using theoptimum concentration of 0.5 wt % lignosulphonate as co-surfactant is able to alter the wettability ofrocks and it is recommended to test the biological-based co-surfactant at increasing temperature as analternative to enhance the surfactant flooding performance which improves the oil recovery.
