In this work we propose a solution method based on Lagrange relaxation for discrete-continuous bi-level problems, with binary variables in the leading problem, considering the optimistic approach in bi-level programming. For the application of the method, the two-level problem is reformulated using the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions. The resulting model is linearized taking advantage of the structure of the leading problem. Using a Lagrange relaxation algorithm, it is possible to find a global solution efficiently. The algorithm was tested to show how it performs.

In this study,the fibers of invasive species Agave americana *** Ricinus communis *** successfully used for the first time as new sources to produce cytocompatible and highly crystalline cellulose *** nanofibers were obtained by two methods,based on either alkaline or acid *** morphology,chemical composition,and crystallinity of the obtained materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEm)together with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX),dynamic light scattering(DLS),X-ray diffraction(XRD),and Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)*** crystallinity indexes(CIs)of the cellulose nanofibers extracted from *** and *** were very high(94.1%and 92.7%,respectively).Biological studies evaluating the cytotoxic effects of the prepared cellulose nanofibers on human embryonic kidney 293 T(HEK293 T)cells were also *** nanofibers obtained using the two different extraction methods were all shown to be cytocompatible in the concentration range assayed(i.e.,0-500μg/mL).Our results showed that the nanocellulose extracted from *** and *** fibers has high potential as a new renewable green source of highly crystalline cellulose-based cytocompatible nanomaterials for biomedical applications.

BACKGROUND Currently,the detection of PIK3CA mutations is of special interest in personalized medicine because it is frequently found in triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC).The PI3KCA mutation is an independent negative prognostic factor for survival in metastatic breast cancer,and its prognostic value in liquid biopsy as a biomarker of treatment and early relapse is under investigation,both for metastatic disease and neoadjuvant scenario with curative *** SUmmARY A 54-year-old female patient with TNBC clinical stage IIIA,who,after receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy(based on anthracyclines and taxanes),surgery,radiotherapy,and adjuvant capecitabine,was detected with a PI3KCA mutation in tissue and peripheral blood(ctDNA in liquid biopsy).After 10 mo,the patient had disease relapse of left cervical node *** The detection of PIK3CA mutation in TNBC after neoadjuvant treatment might be associated with early relapse or rapid disease progression.

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) is an economically devastating disease with worldwide distribution caused by Betaarterivirus suid (PRRSV). The virion has great genetic and antigenic variability with a marked increase in virulence. Vaccines tested to date have been of little use in controlling the problems caused by PRRSV, so the present study was conceived to evaluate the antiviral effect of polymeric nanoparticles (PNPs) made with glycyrrhizic acid (GA). Recent work has proven that this nanoparticle system is stable. These nanoparticles have good GA carrying capacity, a size m, a spherical morphology, and a wide safety range. The integrity of cell morphology can be maintained for up to 72 h. The antiviral effect of this nanoparticle system was tested in cultures of mARC-145 cells in pre- and coinfection assays with PRRSV to evaluate changes in cell morphology and effects on cell viability. The use of PNPsGA with the real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) decreased viral infection by 38% in 3 amplification cycles. These results suggest that this system has an antiviral effect against PRRSV under the study conditions established.
