Inferior vena cava thrombosis is an under-recognized entity associated with significant morbidity and mortality. This is the reason why, although the diagnosis is challenging, a high index of suspicion is required. Regarding this condition, we present the case of a 63-year-old man who had repeatedly visited the emergency room suffering from abdominal and back pain and painful lower limb edema. After several tests, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), he was diagnosed to have agenesis of left renal vein and inferior vena cava thrombosis, from hypercoagulable state secondary to Antiphospholipid Syndrome. He had anticoagulation treatment with low-molecular-weight heparin with good subsequent evolution. This study sets out a descriptive retrospective study of fifty cases of inferior vena cava thrombosis diagnosed in a third-level hospital in the north of Spain over a ten-year period (2010-2018). The aim of this article is to identify the epidemiology, predisposing factors and symptoms that characterize this entity, in order to be able to achieve an early diagnosis that allows us to initiate immediate treatment, minimizing acute and chronic complications of this disease.

The thermal ecology of ectotherms has been studied for almost 2 centuries,but additional attention is currently being paid to it,to understand how organisms deal with the environment in a climate change context.A consensus is still far away due to the large number of factors involved and their complex *** this context,3 analyses in lacertid lizards were carried out:(i)a meta-analysis,to test for differences between body and air temperatures from 71 populations;(ii)a meta-analysis concerning correlations between body and air temperatures from 60 populations;and(iii)a multimodel inference of thermoregulation effectiveness indices from 45 *** importance of different factors,including body size,habitat,insularity,altitude,climate and season,was evaluated in all analyses to model the response variables.A strong seasonality effect was observed,with a consistent pattern of less effective thermoregulation in summer compared to other *** was the second most important factor,with a consistent higher thermoregulation effort in populations occurring at high elevations(>1000 m above sea level).Other factors,such as insularity or body size,can also be important,but did not exhibit a clear ***,thermoregulation was less affected by climate and habitat type.

The aim of this study was to look in depth at the relationship between meiotic anomalies and male infertility, such as the determination of the chromosomes involved or the correlation with patient features. For this purpose, a total of 31 testicular tissue samples from individuals consulting for fertility problems were analyzed. Metaphase I cells were evaluated using a sequential methodology combining Leishman stained procedures and multiplex fluorescence in situ hybridization protocols. The number of chromosomal units and chiasmata count per bivalent were established and a hierarchical cluster analysis of the individuals was performed. The relationship of the seminogram and the karyotype over recombination were evaluated using Poisson regression models. Results obtained in this study show a significant percentage of infertile individuals with altered meiotic behavior, mostly specified as a reduction in chiasmata count in medium and large chromosomes, the presence of univalents, and the observation of tetraploid metaphases. Moreover, the number and the type of anomalies were found to be different between cells of the same individual, suggesting the coexistence of cell lines with normal meiotic behavior and cell lines with abnormalities. In addition, chromosomal abnormalities in metaphase I are significantly associated with oligozoospermia and/or polymorphic karyotype variants.

Different treatments were conducted over Ti6Al4V samples in order to produce a surface modification to increase cell attachment and *** surface treatments evaluated in this study were as follows:etching with sulfuric acid/hydrochloric acid,oxidizing with hydrogen peroxide and low-pressure oxygen plasma *** contrast to other works found in the literature,this research conducts a comparison between different chemical and physical treatments in terms of different assays for surface characterization:X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscope(SEM),energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy,water contact angle,release of vanadium ions and cell viability tests(MTT)of human osteoblasts(hFOB 1.19).Cell morphology over the different substrates was also studied by SEM *** was found that plasma and peroxide treatments increase the O/Ti ratio at the titanium surface and provide an increase in cell *** the other hand,acid etching provides a superhydrophilic surface which is not able to improve the cell attachment of human osteoblasts.

Dear Editor, The scarce number of secondary spermatocytes in human seminiferous tubules and the complexity of analyzing chromosomes at metaphase II are the main causes of the limited knowledge we have about chromosome characteristics at this stage. In this study, we have performed a comprehensive analysis of meiotic abnormalities in metaphase II spermatocytes combining Leishman＇s staining protocols and multiplex fluorescent in situ hybridization procedures. Results indicated that infertile individuals showed different susceptibilities to meiotic abnormalities in secondary spermatocytes without a preferentially effect on any particular chromosome.

Distribution of CTs has been related to chromosome size and gene density and is known to influence gene expression.~ This pattern of organization appears to be a widespread nuclear feature, both in somatic and germ ceils.

Objective:To investigate the presence of neutrophil extracellular traps(nETs) in vivo by analysing intestinal sections from experimentally Eimeria bovis-and naturally Eimeria arloingi-infected ***:Intestinal samples of Eimeria arloingi-and Eimeria bovis-infected animals were analysed by using immunohistochemical and fluorescence approach by using monoclonal ***:Classical nET components were confirmed by co-localization of extracellular DnA being decorated with neutrophil elastase and histones in Eimeria-infected tissue ***,extrusion of nETs was exclusively detected in intestinal polymorphonuclear neutrophils infiltrating Eimeria-infected *** vivo nETs were either found in close proximity or in direct contact to different Eimeria stages suggesting a stage-independent *** were also found within the gut lumen driven by polymorphonuclear neutrophils that were contacting released ***:We postulate that nETs might play an important role in innate defence reactions in coccidiosis therefore significantly altering the outcome of infection.

In this work we propose a solution method based on Lagrange relaxation for discrete-continuous bi-level problems, with binary variables in the leading problem, considering the optimistic approach in bi-level programming. For the application of the method, the two-level problem is reformulated using the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions. The resulting model is linearized taking advantage of the structure of the leading problem. Using a Lagrange relaxation algorithm, it is possible to find a global solution efficiently. The algorithm was tested to show how it performs.

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) is an economically devastating disease with worldwide distribution caused by Betaarterivirus suid (PRRSV). The virion has great genetic and antigenic variability with a marked increase in virulence. Vaccines tested to date have been of little use in controlling the problems caused by PRRSV, so the present study was conceived to evaluate the antiviral effect of polymeric nanoparticles (PnPs) made with glycyrrhizic acid (GA). Recent work has proven that this nanoparticle system is stable. These nanoparticles have good GA carrying capacity, a size nm, a spherical morphology, and a wide safety range. The integrity of cell morphology can be maintained for up to 72 h. The antiviral effect of this nanoparticle system was tested in cultures of MARC-145 cells in pre- and coinfection assays with PRRSV to evaluate changes in cell morphology and effects on cell viability. The use of PnPsGA with the real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) decreased viral infection by 38% in 3 amplification cycles. These results suggest that this system has an antiviral effect against PRRSV under the study conditions established.
