NeuroAid (MLC601) versus piracetam in the recovery of post-infarct homonymous hemianopsia

In the clinic, the natural recovery rate of homonymous hemianopsia caused by occipital lobe infamtion is low. At present, ideal therapeutic effects of piracetam for improving visual field defects following homonymous hemianopsia do not exist. The present randomized, controlled study compared the effects of NeuroAid （MLC601） versus piracetam for improving visual field defects in post-infarct homonymous hemianopsia patients matched for age and sex. After 3 months of treatment with NeuroAid （MLC601） or piracetam, visual field defects were significantly improved, compared with prior to treatment （P 〈 0.001）. After treatment with MLC601, relative reduction of right and left visual field defects was 45% and 45.7%, respectively, while relative reduction after treatment with piracetam was 32.7% and 30.3%, respectively. These findings suggested that MLC601 was superior to piracetam for reducing visual field defects in homonymous hemianopsia patients.

Excess mortality in Northeast Iran caused by COVID-19:Neglect of offset community transformations of health

Objective:To make evidence-based decisions based on broad mortality trends for Razavi Khorasan province,***:In order to determine the baseline number of deaths,we used univariate time series analyses for monthly data from the monthly vital statistics reports(From April 2015 to March 2022).For excess mortalities,these baselines were subtracted from reported deaths with a 95%prediction *** compare time and causes,a P-score was ***:From March 2020 to March 2022,there were 61949 registered deaths,and the estimated deaths with a 95%confidence interval(CI)were 43246.16(35718.28,50774.05).So,in 2020-2021 and 2021-2022,the death counts were 35.15%and 51.33%higher than projected.A total of 18666 cardiovascular diseases were reported and a total of 15704.46(12006.95,19401.96)was *** P-score for this duration was 14.49%and 23.23%higher than *** and parasitic diseases plus COVID-19 were 16633 and estimated to be 1044.87(456.77,1632.96).A total of 4420 diseases of the respiratory system were reported,and 4564.94 deaths were predicted(2277.43,6852.43).In the first year of the pandemic,the P-score dropped to-35.28%and in the second year,it jumped sharply to 22.38%.Conclusions:Excess mortality,along with cause-specific mortality,can be helpful for monitoring trends and developing public health policies at the local,national,and international levels.

The Burden of Diabetes in a Developing Country

Introduction: People with diabetes often develop diverse microvascular, macrovascular, and neuropathic complications. Diabetes named high disease because of its high prevalence, high incidence, chronicity and high costs. Accurate projections of diabetes burden are essential for health planning so the aim of this study was to calculate the burden of diabetes in Razavikhorasan population, in Iran. Methodology: We used Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) index using computer model (DisMod) for assessment of burden of diabetes and complications in Razavikhorasan province in Iran in year 2010-2011. Results: Burden of diabetes in Razavikhorasan population was 64,733 DALY in year 2010-2011. The total Years Life Lost (YLL) from diabetes mellitus was 62,883 (34,216 in men and 28,667 in women) due to premature death and the total Years Life Disability (YLD) was 1850. Conclusion: Diabetes mellitus and lesser forms of glucose intolerance can now be found in almost every population and epidemiological evidences suggest that, without effective prevention and control programs, diabetes will continue to increase and therefore advances in all levels of prevention may help reduce the number of people with diabetes.

Antibacterial,antioxidative and sensory properties of Ziziphora clinopodioides–Rosmarinus officinalis essential oil nanoencapsulated using sodium alginate in raw lamb burger patties

This study was aimed to encapsulate Ziziphora clinopodioides –Rosmarinus officinalis essential oil (Z-REO) using sodium alginate (NaAlg) and to evaluate its performance on antimicrobial and antioxidative activities and sensory attributes in lamb burger patties during cold storage for 12 ***-MS analysis of Z-REO indicated carvacrol (21.5%) and thymol (16.9%) were the major *** images showed the formation of encapsulated *** presence of encapsulated Z-REO in NaAlg was proved based on the increase in band intensity of FTIR *** increasing mass ratios of NaAlg:Z-REO from 1:1 to 2:1,and 4:1,encapsulation efficiency was *** zeta-potential values (mV) of the mass ratios 4:1 and 2:1 were −48.67 and −44.83,indicating the stability of encapsulated *** average size of particles ranged from 159.14 nm to 256.14 *** results showed that the encapsulated nanoparticles could markedly decrease the growth of inoculated Escherichia coli O157:H7 and Staphylococcus aureus and delay the lipid oxidation of lamb patties compared to the control samples and in samples with free ***,nanoparticles efficiently decreased discoloration and off-odor development in the ***,NaAlg-Z-REO nanoparticles could efficiently reduce bacterial growth and oxidative or sensory deterioration of lamb patties during storage.
