The aim of this study was to design a new emulsion liquid membrane(ELM)system for the separation of succinic acid from aqueous *** concentration of succinic acid varied from 20 to 60 mmol·L^(-1).The prepared ELM system includes tributylamine(TBA)as a carrier,commercial kerosene as a solvent,Span 80 as a surfactant,and Na2CO3as a stripping *** order to control the membrane swelling,different values of cyclohexanone were added to the membrane *** effect of various empirical variables on the extraction of the succinic acid such as acid concentration in the feed solution,initial feed concentration,carrier concentration,the stirring speed of the extraction,Na2CO3,surfactant,and cyclohexanone concentrations,and treat ratio in the ELM *** best result was obtained when TBA was used as the *** final acid extraction efficiency was independent of pH variations of the aqueous feed *** extraction of succinic acid solution with a concentration of 40 mmol·L^(-1)was improved by increasing the treat ratio 1:7-1:3,stripping phase concentration 0.5-1.5 mol·L^(-1),stirring speed 300-500 r·min^(-1)and cyclohexanone concentration in the membrane phase 1.2-1.6 mol·L^(-1).No considerable effect on the extraction rate was observed for the carrier concentration in the membrane ***,the surfactant concentration in the feed phase showed a dual effect on the extraction efficiency.

Objectives:This study aimed to assess happiness and its predictors among a group of Iranian hospital ***:This cross-sectional study was done in 2016 on 620 hospital nurses who worked in five teaching hospitals affiliated to Kashan University of Medical Sciences,Kashan,*** were recruited through the census *** collection instruments were a researcher-made demographic and occupational characteristics questionnaire,the Oxford Happiness Inventory,and the Minnesota Job Satisfaction *** analysis was done through stepwise multiple linear regression ***:Among 620 recruited nurses,422 returned their questionnaires completely *** mean of their happiness was 123.4±18.4 in the possible score range of *** significant predictors of happiness were satisfaction with mental health,monthly salary,satisfaction with salary,quality of life,current hospital ward,the length of working in the current ward,work shift,age,job satisfaction,and satisfaction with physicians'conduct and *** variables explained 50.3%of the total variance of *** with mental health had the greatest proportion in explaining the variance of ***:Nurses in teaching hospitals in Kashan,Iran,have moderate *** happiness is affected by different factors,particularly by satisfaction with their mental *** policy-makers and authorities,in developing workforce-related plans and programs,need to pay special attention to nurses'happiness and its contributing factors.

In the last decade,ranking units in data envelopment analysis(DEA) has become the interests of many DEA researchers and a variety of models were developed to rank units with multiple inputs and multiple *** performance factors(inputs and outputs) are classified into two groups:desirable and ***,undesirable factors in production process should be reduced to improve the ***,some of these data may be known only in terms of ordinal *** the models developed in the past are interesting and meaningful,they didn t consider both undesirable and ordinal factors at the same *** this research,we develop an evaluating model and a ranking model to overcome some deficiencies in the earlier *** paper incorporates undesirable and ordinal data in DEA and discusses the efficiency evaluation and ranking of decision making units(DMUs) with undesirable and ordinal *** this purpose,we transform the ordinal data into definite data,and then we consider each undesirable input and output as desirable output and input,***,an application that shows the capability of the proposed method is illustrated.

Development and psychometric evaluation of the Hospital Nurse Interpersonal Empathy Questionnaire

Objective:This study aimed to develop the Hospital Nurse Interpersonal Empathy Questionnaire(HNIEQ)and evaluate its psychometric ***:The primary version of HNIEQ was deductively developed through reviewing the literature,and then,its face and content validity were *** construct validity assessment,250 hospital nurses were randomly selected from hospitals of Kashan,*** data were used for exploratory factor *** consistency was assessed through Cronbach's α coefficient and questionnaire stability was assessed through test-retest intraclass correlation *** and floor effects were also *** analysis was done via the SPSS program(v.16.0).Results:The final version of HNIEQ contained 45 *** factor analysis revealed a six-factor structure(empathetic and ethical attention,perspective adoption,emotional affectability,altruism,emotion identification and responsivity,and reflection forecasting)for the questionnaire which explained 52.7%of the total variance of its total *** Cronbach's α coefficient and the intraclass correlation coefficient of HNIEQ were 0.953 and 0.972,***:HNIEQ is a valid and reliable instrument for empathy assessment among nurses.

This paper investigates the problem of controlling half-vehicle semi-active suspension system involving a magnetorheological(MR)*** features a hysteretic behavior that is presently captured through the nonlinear Bouc-Wen *** control objective is to regulate well the heave and the pitch motions of the chassis despite the road *** difficulty of the control problem lies in the nonlinearity of the system model,the uncertainty of some of its parameters,and the inaccessibility to measurements of the hysteresis internal state *** Lyapunov control design tools,we design two observers to get online estimates of the hysteresis internal states and a stabilizing adaptive state-feedback *** whole adaptive controller is formally shown to meet the desired control *** theoretical result is confirmed by several simulations demonstrating the supremacy of the latter compared to the skyhook control and passive suspension.

The nanostructures of zinc chromite（Zn Cr2O4） were fabricated by the microwave method. It was shown that the well-crystallized spinel structure is formed after annealing at 700 °C. The influence of reaction time and irradiation power of oven on the size and shape of the as-prepared Zn Cr2O4 samples was studied. The synthesized samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction（XRD）, scanning electron microscopy（SEM）, energy dispersive X-ray（EDX）, transmission electron microscopy（TEM）, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy（DRS）, photoluminescence（PL） spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared（FTIR） spectra and vibrating sample magnetometry（VSM）, respectively. The optical band gap calculated using DRS was found to be 3.50 e V for Zn Cr2O4 nanostructures. Photoluminescence measurements also confirmed this result.

Viscous fingering and its effect on areal sweep efficiency during waterflooding: an experimental study

Viscous fingering is one of the main challenges that could reduce areal sweep efficiency during waterflooding in oil reservoirs. A series of waterflooding experiments were carried out in a Hele-Shaw cell at ambient temperature during which areal sweep efficiency was estimated and techniques to ease the fingering problem were examined. The onset and propagation of viscous fingers were monitored as a function of both injection rate and injection/production positions. Image processing techniques were utilized to quantitatively investigate the propagation of fingers. The experimental results show that, under specific conditions, increasing the number of finger branches could improve the areal sweep efficiency, whereas growth of a single narrow finger has a negative impact on oil displacement efficiency. According to the obtained results,increasing the injection rate improves the areal sweep efficiency up to a critical rate at which viscous fingers start to *** impact of heterogeneity of the medium on distributing the viscous fingers was also investigated by introducing two different arrangements of fractures in the model. The results show that fractures perpendicular to the direction of flow would distribute the displacing water more uniformly, while fractures in the direction of flow would amplify the unfavorable sweep efficiency.

A recent study published in Cell Metabolism by Codo et al.1 shows that metabolic rewiring of human monocytes by SARS-CoV-2 infection cultured under high glucose highly induces viral replication and cytokine production compromising T-cell response and ***,this triggers lung epithelial cell death and,mechanistically,provides an explanation why people with diabetes might be more susceptible to develop severe COVID-19.

In this work, an electrochemical sensor was fabricated for determination of an anthracycline, doxorubicin(DOX) as a chemotherapy drug in plasma based on multi-walled carbon nanotubes modified platinum electrode(Pt/MWCNTs). DOX was effectively accumulated on the surface of modified electrode and generated a pair of redox peaks at around 0.522 and 0.647 V(vs. Ag/Ag Cl) in Britton Robinson(B-R) buffer(p H 4.0, 0.1 M). The electrochemical parameters including p H, type of buffer, accumulation time, amount of modifier and scan rate were optimized. Under the optimized conditions, there was a linear correlation between cathodic peak current and concentration of DOX in the range of 0.05–4.0 μg/m L with the detection limit of 0.002 μg/m L. The number of electron transfers(n) and electron transfer-coefficient(α) were estimated as 2.0 and 0.25, respectively. The constructed sensor displayed excellent precision, sensitivity, repeatability and selectivity in the determination of DOX in plasma. Moreover, cyclic voltammetry studies of DOX in the presence of DNA showed an intercalation mechanism with binding constant(K_b) of 1.12×10~5L/mol.
