Effect of Treatment for CHC on Liver Disease Progression and Hepatocellular Carcinoma Development in African Americans

Background and Aims:African Americans (AA) historically have a low response rate to hepatitis C therapies,and there is limited information available for this patient population regarding the development and treatment of chronic hepatitis C (CHC).The aim of this study was to evaluate liver disease progression and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development in AA with ***:Between 1995 and 2008,246 AA patients with CHC were identified from a database of patients and followed until 2012-2013 (average 8 years)or the development of HCC after ***:Viral clearance (intent to treat;sustained virus response (SVR)) was achieved in 15% of patients with interferon based therapies with or without *** patients who achieved an SVR (n=22) did not develop HCC or new onset cirrhosis,whereas the HCC incidence in untreated AA patients was 23% (51/203).Patients who achieved an SVR also had improved fibrosis,as defined by the AST Platelet Ratio Index (APRI) and Fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) score,relative to nonresponders and untreated ***:The severity of liver disease at the first visit (except for cirrhosis) correlated with the development of HCC,but because of the overlap in values between patients,these measurements were not useful for predicting individual *** cirrhosis at the first visit was not a predictive factor,treatment with newer antiviral therapies is the best option for reducing the incidence of advanced liver disease and its harmful outcomes in the AA population.

The Gulf of Suez region is one of the most interesting geothermal areas in Egypt because of the high temperatures of its *** eastern and western shores of the Gulf of Suez are characterized by superficial thermal manifestations including a cluster of hot springs with varied *** of deuterium and oxygen-18 concentrations in thermal waters have been used to aid in describing the source of recharge in the Gulf of Suez hot *** and geochemical data for the Gulf of Suez thermal waters suggest that recharge to the hot springs may not be entirely from the Gulf of Suez water,but possibly from the meteoric water that comes from areas of higher altitude surrounding the hot springs.

In this article,an investigation is conducted to study the precise role of zirconium nanoparticles that exist in a slime-like fluid subject to specific *** gliding is a technique of mobility used by bacteria that lack motility components,bacteria travel on their own strength in gliding locomotion by secreting a layer of slime on the substrate.A model of an undulating sheet over a layer of slime of a Rabinowitsch fluid is investigated as a potential model of bacteria’s gliding *** the aid of long wavelength approximation,the equations governing the circulation of slime underneath the cells are established and analytically *** effects of pseudoplasticity,dilatation and non-Newtonian parameter on the behavior of zirconium concentration,speed of microorganism(bacteria),streamline patterns,and pressure rise for non-Newtonian and Newtonian fluids are *** power required for propulsion is also *** interpretation for the pertinent variables has been graphically discussed against the parameters under *** is found that with the increase in the concentration of zirconium nanoparticles,the bacterial flow is accelerated and attains its maximum near the rigid substrate wall while an opposite behavior is noticed in the rest region.

Assessment of novel nature-inspired fuzzy models for predicting long contraction scouring and related uncertainties

The scouring phenomenon is one of the major problems experienced in hydraulic *** this study,an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system is hybridized with several evolutionary approaches,including the ant colony optimization,genetic algorithm,teaching-learning-based optimization,biogeographical-based optimization,and invasive weed optimization for estimating the long contraction scour *** proposed hybrid models are built using non-dimensional information collected from previous *** proposed hybrid intelligent models are evaluated using several statistical performance metrics and graphical ***,the uncertainty of models,variables,and data are *** on the achieved modeling results,adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system-biogeographic based optimization(ANFIS-BBO)provides superior prediction accuracy compared to others,with a maximum correlation coefficient(R_(test)=0.923)and minimum root mean square error value(RMSE_(test)=0.0193).Thus,the proposed ANFIS-BBO is a capable cost-effective method for predicting long contraction scouring,thus,contributing to the base knowledge of hydraulic structure sustainability.

The implementation of novel machine learning models can contribute remarkably to simulating the degradation of concrete due to environmental *** study considers the sulfuric acid corrosive factor in wastewater systems to simulate concrete mass loss using five machine learning *** models include three different types of extreme learning machines,including the standard,online sequential,and kernel extreme learning machines,in addition to the artificial neural network,classification and regression tree model,and statistical multiple linear regression *** reported values of concrete mass loss for six different types of concrete are the target values of the machine learning *** input variability was assessed based on two scenarios prior to the application of the predictive *** the first assessment,the machine learning models were developed using all the available cement and concrete mixture input variables;the second assessment was conducted based on the gamma test approach,which is a sensitivity analysis ***,the sensitivity analysis of the most effective parameters for concrete corrosion was tested using three different *** adopted methodology attained optimistic and reliable modeling *** online sequential extreme learning machine model demonstrated superior performance over the other investigated models in predicting the concrete mass loss of different types of concrete.

Emailing is among the cheapest and most easily accessible platforms,and covers every idea of the present century like banking,personal login database,academic information,invitation,marketing,advertisement,social engineering,model creation on cyber-based technologies,*** uncontrolled development and easy access to the internet are the reasons for the increased insecurity in email ***,this review paper aims to investigate deep learning approaches for detecting the threats associated with e-mail *** study compiles the literature related to the deep learning methodologies,which are applicable for providing safety in the field of cyber security of email in different *** data were extracted from different research *** paper discusses various solutions for handling these *** challenges and issues are also investigated for e-mail security threats including social engineering,malware,spam,and phishing in the existing solutions to identify the core current problem and set the road for future *** review analysis showed that communication media is the common platform for attackers to conduct fraudulent activities via spoofed e-mails and fake websites and this research has combined the merit and demerits of the deep learning approaches adaption in email security threat by the usage of models and *** study highlighted the contrasts of deep learning approaches in detecting email security *** review study has set criteria to include studies that deal with at least one of the six machine models in cyber security.

Tweetluenza: Predicting Flu Trends from Twitter Data

Health authorities worldwide strive to detect Influenza prevalence as early as possible in order to prepare for it and minimize its impacts. To this end, we address the Influenza prevalence surveillance and prediction problem. In this paper, we develop a new Influenza prevalence prediction model, called Tweetluenza, to predict the spread of the Influenza in real time using cross-lingual data harvested from Twitter data streams with emphases on the United Arab Emirates(UAE). Based on the features of tweets, Tweetluenza filters the Influenza tweets and classifies them into two classes, reporting and non-reporting. To monitor the growth of Influenza, the reporting tweets were employed. Furthermore, a linear regression model leverages the reporting tweets to predict the Influenza-related hospital visits in the future. We evaluated Tweetluenza empirically to study its feasibility and compared the results with the actual hospital visits recorded by the UAE Ministry of Health. The results of our experiments demonstrate the practicality of Tweetluenza, which was verified by the high correlation between the Influenza-related Twitter data and hospital visits due to Influenza. Furthermore, the evaluation of the analysis and prediction of Influenza shows that combining English and Arabic tweets improves the correlation results.

A segmented conical electric lens for optimization of the beam spot of the low-energy muon facility at PSI: a Geant4 simulation analysis

The low-energy muon facility at PSI provides nearly fully polarized positive muons with tunable energies in the ke V range to carry out muon spin rotation(LE-μSR)experiments with nanometer depth resolution on thin films,heterostructures, and near-surface regions. The low-energy muon beam is focused and transported to the sample by electrostatic lenses. In order to achieve a minimum beam spot size at the sample position and to enable the steering of the beam in the horizontal and vertical direction, a special electrostatic device has been implemented close to the sample position. It consists of a cylinder at ground potential followed by four conically shaped electrodes,which can be operated at different electric potential. In LE-μSR experiments, an electric field at the sample along the beam direction can be applied to accelerate/decelerate muons to different energies(0.5–30 keV). Additionally, a horizontal or vertical magnetic field can be superimposed for transverse or longitudinal field μSR experiments. The focusing properties of the conical lens in the presence of these additional electric and magnetic fields have been investigated and optimized by Geant4 simulations. Some experimental tests were also performed and show that the simulation well describes the experimental setup.

Finite element modeling assumptions impact on seismic response demands of MRF-buildings

Recent seismic events have raised concerns over the safety and vulnerability of reinforced concrete moment resisting frame ＂RC-MRF＂ buildings. The seismic response of such buildings is greatly dependent on the computational tools used and the inherent assumptions in the modelling process. Thus, it is essential to investigate the sensitivity of the response demands to the corresponding modelling assumption. Many parameters and assumptions are justified to generate effective structural finite element（FE） models of buildings to simulate lateral behaviour and evaluate seismic design demands. As such, the present study focuses on the development of reliable FE models with various levels of refinement. The effects of the FE modelling assumptions on the seismic response demands on the design of buildings are investigated. the predictive ability of a FE model is tied to the accuracy of numerical analysis; a numerical analysis is performed for a series of symmetric buildings in active seismic zones. The results of the seismic response demands are presented in a comparative format to confirm drift and strength limits requirements. A proposed model is formulated based on a simplified modeling approach, where the most refined model is used to calibrate the simplified model.

Synthesis, Structural Characterization, and Antimicrobial Activities of Mn（II）, Co（II）, Ni（II）, Cu（ll） and Zn（II） Complexes of Triazole-based Azodyes

The synthesis and characterization of new transition metal complexes of Mn（ll）, Co（II）, Ni（II）, Cu（II） and Zn（II） with 3-（2-hydroxynaph-l-ylazo）-1,2,4-triazole （HL1） and 3-（2-hydroxy-3-carboxynaph-l-ylazo）-1,2,4-triazole （HL2） have been carried out. Their structures were confirmed by elemental analyses, thermal analyses, spectral and magnetic data. The IR and 1H NMR spectra indicated that HL1 and HL2 coordinated to the metal ions as bidentate monobasic ligands via the hydroxyl O and azo N atoms. The UV-Vis, ESR spectra and magnetic moment data revealed the formation of octahedral complexes [MnL1（AcO）（H2O）3] （1）, [CoL1（AcO）（HzO）3]·H2O （2）, [MnL2- （AcO）（H20）3] （6） and [CoL2（AcO）（H2O）3] （7）, [NiL1（AcO）（H2O）] （3）,[ZnLI（AcO）（HzO）]·H2O （5）, [NiL2- （AcO）（H2O）] （8）, [ZnL2（AcO）（H2O）]·H2O （10） have tetrahedral geometry, whereas [CuLI（AcO）（H2O）2] （4） and [CuL2（AcO）（H2O）2]·5H2O （9） have square pyramidal geometry.. The mass spectra of the complexes under EI-con- ditions showed the highest peaks corresponding to their molecular weights, based on the atomic weights of 55Mn, 59Co, 58Ni, 63Cu and 64Zn isotopes; besides, other peaks containing other isotopes distribution of the metal. Kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of the thermal decomposition stages were computed from the thermal data using Coats-Redfern method. HL2 and complexes 6--10 were found to have moderate antimicrobial activities against Staphylococcus＇ aureus （gram positive）, Escherichia coli （gram negative） and Salmonella sp bacteria, and antifungal activity against Fusarium oxysporum, Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans. Also, in most cases, metallation increased the activity compared with the free ligand.
