Promotion of structural plasticity in area V2 of visual cortex prevents against object recognition memory deficits in aging and Alzheimer's disease rodents

Memory deficit,which is often associated with aging and many psychiatric,neurological,and neurodegenerative diseases,has been a challenging issue for *** till now,all potential drug candidates have failed to produce satisfa ctory ***,in the search for a solution,we found that a treatment with the gene corresponding to the RGS14414protein in visual area V2,a brain area connected with brain circuits of the ventral stream and the medial temporal lobe,which is crucial for object recognition memory(ORM),can induce enhancement of *** this study,we demonstrated that the same treatment with RGS14414in visual area V2,which is relatively unaffected in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer s disease,produced longlasting enhancement of ORM in young animals and prevent ORM deficits in rodent models of aging and Alzheimer’s ***,we found that the prevention of memory deficits was mediated through the upregulation of neuronal arbo rization and spine density,as well as an increase in brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF).A knockdown of BDNF gene in RGS14414-treated aging rats and Alzheimer s disease model mice caused complete loss in the upregulation of neuronal structural plasticity and in the prevention of ORM *** findings suggest that BDNF-mediated neuronal structural plasticity in area V2 is crucial in the prevention of memory deficits in RGS14414-treated rodent models of aging and Alzheimer’s ***,our findings of RGS14414gene-mediated activation of neuronal circuits in visual area V2 have therapeutic relevance in the treatment of memory deficits.

Suppressing the undesirable Energy Loss in Solution-Processed Hyperfluorescent OLEDs Employing BODIPY-Based Hybridized Local and Charge-Transfer Emitter

Hyperfluorescent organic light-emitting diodes(HF-OLEDs)approach has made it possible to achieve excellent device performance and color purity with low roll-off using noble-metal-free pure organic *** significant progress,the performance of HF-OLEDs is still unsatisfactory due to the existence of a competitive dexter energy transfer(DET)*** this contribution,two boron dipyrromethene(BODIPY)-based donor-acceptor emitters(BDP-C-Cz and BDP-N-Cz)with hybridized local and charge transfer characteristics(HLCT)are introduced in the HF-OLED to suppress the exciton loss by dexter mechanism,and a breakthrough performance with low-efficiency roll-off(0.3%)even at high brightness(1000 cd m^(-2))is *** is demonstrated that the energy loss via the DET channel can be suppressed in HF-OLEDs utilizing the HLCT emitter,as the excitons from the dark triplet state of such emitters are funneled to its emissive singlet state following the hot-exciton *** developed HF-OLED device has realized a good maximum external quantum efficiency(EQE)of 19.25%at brightness of 1000 cd m^(-2)and maximum luminance over 60000 cd m^(-2),with an emission peak at 602 nm and Commission International de L'Eclairage(CIE)coordinates(0.57,0.41),which is among the best-achieved results in solution-processed *** work presents a viable methodology to suppress energy loss and achieve high performance in the HF-OLEDs.

Intact memory function is critical for carrying out daily life activities,such as managing finances,remembering to take medications,driving in familiar environments,remembering a grandchild’s birthday,and learning to use a new ***,memory deficits not only accompany normal aging but are also comorbid with many psychiatric,neurological,and neurodegenerative *** disability,autism,attention deficit disorder,learning disability,schizophrenia,and depression all have memory deficit components,as do Alzheimer’s disease,Parkinson’s disease,Huntington’s disease,and other neurodegenerative diseases(khan et al.,2014).Therefore,a large proportion of the human population is affected by this brain disorder.

Plasmid mediated multiple antibiotic resistance in Escherichia coli isolated from community acquired infection of urinary tract in Aligarh Hospital

This study was to investigate the current trends of multiple drug resistance in bacteria against antibiotics for the proper empirical *** isolates were collected from community-acquired infection of urinary tract patients in Aligarh India from March 1999 to August *** susceptibility test was performed,using the disc diffusion method followed by plasmid isolation by the method of Kado and *** experiments were performed by the method of Lederberg and *** study revealed that this infection was more common in young *** strains of *** isolated during the course of study were found to show multiple antibiotic resistance which was further characterized as plasmid-borne drug *** study shows that *** may be one of the important causative agents of urinary tract infection(uTI) in young women.

The Paleocene coals of the Salt Range in the Punjab Province of Pakistan have great economic potential;however,their trace element and stable isotopic characteristics have not been studied in detail except for a few sporadic *** this study,a total of 59 coal samples of which 14 are obtained from open cast mines have been investigated for elemental composition andδ^(13)C-δ^(15)N isotopic *** contents of trace elements such as Co,Cr,Cu,Pb,Sr,Th,u,V,and Zn are 7.4,41.7,11.2,12.5,90.2,4.0,1.9,128,and 31.1 mg/kg,*** values,when compared with the World Coal Clarke values,were relatively higher in low-rank coals in comparison with Clarke values for brown ***,As(20.4 mg/kg),Co(6.6 mg/kg),Cr(22.4 mg/kg),Cu(^(13).3 mg/kg),Pb(19.2 mg/kg),Sr(^(15)4.7 mg/kg),Th(2.5 mg/kg),V(47.8 mg/kg),and Zn(75.1 mg/kg)were significantly higher in the sub-bituminous to bituminous coals of the Salt *** analysis,based on X-ray diffraction and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy,revealed that the studied samples contain illite,kaolinite calcite,gypsum,pyrite,and *** affinity with organic and inorganic phases of coals calculated by an indirect statistical approach indicated a positive association of ash content with Ag,Al,Co,Cr,Cs,Cu,Mn,P,Rb,Pb,Th,u,and V,suggesting the presence of inorganic components in studied ***,As,Fe,Sr,and Zn exhibit negative correlations that imply their association with the organic ***δ^(13)C andδ^(15)N isotopic range and average−24.94‰to−25.86‰(−25.41‰)and−2.77‰to 3.22‰(0.96‰),respectively,reflecting 3C type modern terrestrial vegetation were common in the palaeomires of studied coal *** addition,the trivial variations of 0.92‰and 0.45‰among^(13)C and^(15)N values can be attributed to water level fluctuations and plant assemblies.

Comparison of Fission Induced by Protons and Pions

We compare the properties of fission induced by protons and *** different methodologies are used to make this ***,it is shown that pion-induced fission cross sections are not much different in magnitude from proton-induced fission cross sections at the same beam kinetic ***,across the pion-nucleon(3,3)resonance so prominent with free nucleons,it has been observed that there is no significant change in the reaction mechanism in the case of ***,it is noted that an empirical expression used for evaluations of proton-induced fission cross sections is also valid for positive pion-induced fission cross sections,at least for actinide *** cross sections computed using a cascade-exciton model code for ^(209)Bi and ^(238)u are also compared with the experimental data available.

Ab-initio calculations of structural,electronic,and optical properties of Zn_3(VO_4)_2

The structural, electronic, and optical properties of Zn3（VO4）2 are investigated using full potential linearized aug- mented plane wave （FP-LAPW） method within the framework of density functional theory （DFT）. Various approaches are adopted to treat the exchange and correlation potential energy such as generalized gradient approximation （GGA）, GGA＋u, and the Tran-Blaha modified Becke-Johnson （TB-mBJ） potential. The calculated band gap of 3.424 eV by TB- mBJ is found to be close to the experimental result （3.3 eV）. The optical anisotropy is analyzed through optical constants, such as dielectric function and absorption coefficient along parallel and perpendicular crystal orientations. The absorption coefficient reveals high absorption （1.5 ×10^6cm^-1） of photons in the ultraviolet region.

First-principles calculations of structural, electronic, and thermodynamic properties of ZnO_(1-x)S_x alloys

In this study the pseudo-potential method is used to investigate the structural, electronic, and thermodynamic proper- ties of ZnOl_xSx semiconductor materials. The results show that the electronic properties are found to be improved when calculated by using LDA ~ u functional as compared with local density approximation （LDA）. At various concentrations the ground-state properties are determined for bulk materials ZnO, ZnS, and their tertiary alloys in cubic zinc-blende phase. From the results, a minor difference is observed between the lattice parameters from Vegard＇s law and other calculated results, which may be due to the large mismatch between lattice parameters of binary compounds ZnO and ZnS. A small deviation in the bulk modulus from linear concentration dependence is also observed for each of these alloys. The ther- modynamic properties, including the phonon contribution to Helmholtz free energy △F, phonon contribution to internal energy △E, and specific iheat at constant-volume Cv, are calculated within quasi-harmonic approximation based on the calculated phonon dispersion relations.

The pest Fall Armyworm(FAW),Spodoptera frugiperda belonging to the order Lepidoptera,is one of the most devastating insect pests resulting in severe economic losses to maize,rice,wheat,cotton and soybean in South America,Africa and *** consists of two morphologically indistinguishable strains:the“corn strain”feeding mainly on maize,cotton and sorghum;the“rice strain”mostly feeding on rice and various grasses(Gouin et al.,2017).Adults of FAW have strong migration ability to fly 100 km per *** 2018 it was detected in India and then spreads to Bangladesh,Thailand,Myanmar,and China in 2019(http://***/fall-armyworm/en/).It is a polyphagous lepidopteran herbivore,attacks more than 350 plant species,and causes destructive damage to many economically important *** FAW causes up to 30%-60% yield losses.

First-principles calculation of the structural,electronic,and magnetic properties of cubic perovskite RbXF3(X = Mn,V,Co,Fe)

First-principles calculations by means of the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method using the generalized gradient approximation with correlation effect correction（GGA＋u） within the framework of spin polarized density functional theory（DFT＋u） are used to study the structural,electronic,and magnetic properties of cubic perovskite compounds RbXF3（X = Mn,V,Co,and Fe）.It is found that the calculated structural parameters,i.e.,lattice constant,bulk modulus,and its pressure derivative are in good agreement with the previous *** results reveal that the strong spin polarization of the 3d states of the X atoms is the origin of ferromagnetism in *** energies and the magnetic moments of RbXF3 have also been *** calculated electronic properties show the half-metallic nature of RbCoF3 and RbFeF3,making these materials suitable for spintronic applications.
