Repla.ing liquid fyrite with digita. to improve <i>in vitro</i>fertiliza.ion la.ora.ory qua.ity control procedures

In clinica. in vitro fertiliza.ion (IVF), optima. culture conditions a.e required for production of high qua.ity embryos a.d for a.hieving high pregna.cy ra.es. Cell culture systems require vigila.t a.tention to qua.ity control a.d qua.ity a.sura.ce, a.d upgra.es to equipment a.d procedures require strenuous delibera.ion. During a.2-week ma.ntena.ce period, we undertook a. extensive a.a.ysis of incuba.or ca.bon dioxide (CO2) monitoring a.d the effect on culture media.pH by compa.ing our tra.itiona. liquid Fyrite instruments to a.certified a.d ca.ibra.ed digita. CO2 a.a.yzer. The digita. a.a.yzer produced consistently lower CO2 rea.ings a.d significa.tly grea.er precision tha. the liquid Fyrite. Media.pH mea.urements showed significa.t va.ia.ion depending on CO2 ca.ibra.ion device;however pH rema.ned within ma.ufa.turers’ specifica.ions. a.ter superior performa.ce by the digita. a.a.yzer, we incorpora.ed this device into the incuba.or ca.ibra.ion a.d da.ly qua.ity control procedures. a.retrospective compa.ison of overa.l la. performa.ce before a.d a.ter this equipment switch demonstra.ed improved clinica. pregna.cy a.d impla.ta.ion ra.es. This report illustra.es the necessa.y ca.tion when a.tering esta.lished la.ora.ory procedures a.d equipment while highlighting the benefits of judiciously upda.ing techniques a.d equipment in a.la.ora.ory setting tha. is often stubborn to cha.ge pre-existing, ingra.ned methodology.
