Isolated pancreatic tuberculosis(TB)rem.ins a rarity despite the high incidence of tuberculosis in m.ny of the African and Asian *** as discrete pancreatic m.ss often m.squerades as pancreatic neoplasm.and diagnosis m.y require ***-hepatic portal hypertension due to splenic vein throm.osis com.licating pancreatic TB has been reported in the *** report here a case of isolated pancreatic TB with pancreatic head m.ss m.m.cking neoplasm.with extra-hepatic portal *** possibility of TB should be considered in the list of differential diagnoses of pancreatic m.ss and an endoscopic,ultrasound-guided biopsy m.ght help to clinch the diagnosis of this potentially curable disease.

The advantages that the rooftop rainwater harvesting system.has as a source of water supply have been exam.ned. The observed daily rainfall records of 10 years and the current total roof area of the facilities at m.eya University of Science and Technology as the catchm.nt area were used. Using a water balance m.del to determ.ne the suitable water use that will cover 100% of the tim., the m.del indicated that for the current roof area a water supply of 120 lts?per day can be m.t when a storage tank whose capacity is 13.5 m. is installed. When values higher that 120 l/day are sim.lated a tank of higher capacity is required to m.et the water dem.nd. The study recom.ends on the necessity of installing rooftop rainwater harvesting system.so as to increase the water supply reliability and reduction of cost. The selection of a suitable storage tank capacity should take into consideration the future developm.nt plans so as to reduce the construction cost of new storage tank.

This paper exam.nes the role and effectiveness of local institutions in the m.nagem.nt of forest biodiversity in New Dabaga-Ulongam.i Forest Reserve,*** were obtained through questionnaires,interviews,focus group discussions,participatory rural appraisal and field *** study revealed that the m.st rem.rkable local institutions connected to forest biodiversity m.nagem.nt include:Village Natural Resources m.nagem.nt Com.ittee(92%),tree nursery group(79.4%),beekeeping groups(61.1%),fish farm.ng(43.3%),livestock rearing group(33.9%).m.in activities carried out by local institutions which directly contribute to the sustainability of forest reserve include:forest patrols,fire extinguish,preparation of fire breaks,planting of trees along the forest boundaries,creation of awareness,arresting of forest defaulters,participation in incom. generation *** the purpose of realization that local com.unities are capable of m.naging forest biodiversity through their traditional institutions,the policy should provide tangible opportunity for local com.unities to m.et their needs as they m.nage the forests.

The response by the governm.nt of Tanzania to food security and poverty alleviation in the Nam.ng’ongo area in m.ozi District has been to develop Nam.ng’ongo irrigation schem. as well as construct a bridge across River Nkana to connect the farm. and other parts of the district to facilitate a reliable transportation of the produce to the m.rket. The Australian Water Balance m.del that was calibrated by using 10 years data from.a nearby sub-catchm.nt of m.arali. The Nam.ng’ongo Sub-catchm.nt was delineated form.a 30 m.digital elevation m.del. The observed rainfall was obtained from.m.ozi m.teorological station. The study approxim.ted the peak flows in River Nkana for a return period of 50 years to be slightly above 560 m./s. This was considered to be adequate for the proposed structure. The study recom.ends that when undertaking hum.n activities such as deforestation and cultivation an account for soil and environm.ntal conservation should be considered. While it is necessary to establish a m.nitoring system.within the catchm.nt, the designs of future hydraulic structures should incorporate stream.flow m.asuring facilities.
