In this study,aluminum-doped zinc oxide(AZO)thin films were deposited onto a low-temperature polyethylene terephthalate(PET)substrate using DC magnetron *** parameters included power range of 100-300 W,a working pressure of 15 mTorr,and a substrate temperature of 50°***-deposition,flash lamp annealing(FLA)was employed as a rapid thermal processing method with a pulse duration of 1.7 ms and energy density of 7 J·cm-2,aimed at enhancing the film's quality while preserving the temperature-sensitive PET *** offers advantages over conventional annealing,including shorter processing times and improved material *** structural,optical,and electrical characteristics of the AZO films were assessed using X-ray diffraction,field emission scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy,ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy,and Hall effect *** results demonstrated that properties of AZO films varied with deposition and annealing *** deposited at 200 W and subjected to FLA exhibited superior crystallinity,with average visible light transmittance exceeding 80%and resistivity as low as 0.38Ω·cm representing 95%improvement in *** analysis revealed that carrier concentration,mobility,and resistivity were influenced by both sputtering and annealing *** findings underscore the effectiveness of FLA in optimizing AZO thin film properties,highlighting potential in optoelectronics applications.

Asthenoteratozoospermia is one of the most severe types of qualitative sperm *** cases are due to mutations in genes encoding the components of sperm flagella,which have an ultrastructure similar to that of motile ***-coil domain containing 103(CCDC103)is an outer dynein arm assembly factor,and pathogenic variants of CCDC103 cause primary ciliary dyskinesia(PCD).However,whether CCDC103 pathogenic variants cause severe asthenoteratozoospermia has yet to be ***-exome sequencing(WES)was performed for two individuals with nonsyndromic asthenoteratozoospermia in a consanguineous family.A homozygous CCDC103 variant segregating recessively with an infertility phenotype was identified(ENST00000035776.2,c.461A>C,***154Pro).CCDC103 ***154Pro was previously reported as a high prevalence mutation causing PCD,though the reproductive phenotype of these PCD individuals is *** electron microscopy(TEM)of affected individuals’spermatozoa showed that the mid-piece was severely damaged with disorganized dynein arms,similar to the abnormal ultrastructure of respiratory ciliary of PCD individuals with the same ***,our findings expand the phenotype spectrum of CCDC103 ***154Pro as a novel pathogenic gene for nonsyndromic asthenospermia.

Classification of Diabetic Macular Edema and Its Stages Using Color Fundus Image

Diabetic macular edema （DME） is a retinal thickening involving the center of the macula. It is one of the serious eye diseases which affects the central vision and can lead to partial or even complete visual loss. The only cure is timely diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of the disease. This paper presents an automated system for the diagnosis and classification of DME using color fundus image. In the proposed technique, first the optic disc is removed by applying some preprocessing steps. The preprocessed image is then passed through a classifier for segmentation of the image to detect exudates. The classifier uses dynamic thresholding technique by using some input parameters of the image. The stage classification is done on the basis of anearly treatment diabetic retinopathy study （ETDRS） given criteria to assess the severity of disease. The proposed technique gives a sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of 98.27%, 96.58%, and 96.54%, respectively on publically available database.

Frequency of Neurological Disorders and Related EEG Finding in a Tertiary Care Hospital of Karachi

Background: Electroencephalogram (EEG) is defined as a method of detecting brain waves signifying the electrical conductivity of the brain. Globally, EEG is used to further classify neuropsychiatric disorders. Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of abnormal EEGs and related neurological disorders and it’s correlation with age and gender. Methodology: A descriptive cross sectional study was conducted in Neurology department, Ziauddin hospital, Karachi, Pakistan from June 2018 to May 2019. A total of 440 individuals based on inclusion criteria were selected through Non-probability consecutive sampling. Informed consent was obtained from study participants. A self-designed structured questionnaire and EEG record were used for data collection. Data were entered and analyzed using SPSS v 20. Mean and standard deviation was calculated for numerical variable and frequency and percentages were calculated for categorical variable. Independent t-test and chi square was used to check association of abnormal EEG with age and gender. P value of ≤0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The mean age of study participants was 52.98 ± 22.68 years. There were 54.5% (n = 240) males. Approximately 45.2% (n = 199) participants had predisposing condition which can lead to abnormal EEG. EEG records of 39.8% (n = 175) of the patients was normal while 60.2% (n = 265) had abnormal records. Diffuse neuronal dysfunction consistent with encephalopathy was found in 45.2%. Mild neuronal dysfunction consistent with encephalopathy accounted for 33.5% of cases. Significant difference was found in Abnormal EEG among different age group (p = 0.01). Chi square shows an association between abnormal EEG and male gender (p = 0.025). Conclusion: EEG plays a vital role in the diagnosis of neuropsychiatric conditions in developing countries. EEGs can further help to determine the relationship of different neuropsychiatric conditions and can help in early diagnosis and better prognosis.

Contact and injection engineering for low SS reconfigurable FETs and high gain complementary inverters

The newly emerged two-dimensional(2D) semiconducting materials, owning to the atomic thick nature and excellent optical and electrical properties, are considered as potential candidates to solve the bottlenecks of traditional semiconductors. However, the realization of high performance 2D semiconductorbased field-effect transistors(FETs) has been a longstanding challenge in 2D electronics, which is mainly ascribing to the presence of significant Schottky barrier(SB) at metal-semiconductor interfaces. Here, an additional contact gate is induced in 2D ambipolar FET to realize near ideal reconfigurable FET(RFET)devices without restrictions of SB. Benefitting from the consistently high doping of contact region, the effective SB height can be maintained at ultra-small value during all operation conditions, resulting in the near ideal subthreshold swing(SS) values(132 mV/decade for MoTe2 RFET and 67 mV/decade for WSe2 RFET) and the relatively high mobility(28.6 cm2/(Vs) for MoTe2 RFET and 89.8 cm2/(V s) for WSe2 RFET). Moreover, the flexible control on the doping polarity of contact region enables the remodeling and switching of the achieved unipolar FETs between p-type mode and n-type mode. Based on such reconfigurable behaviors, high gain complementary MoTe2 inverters are further realized. The findings in this work push forward the development of high-performance 2D semiconductor integrated devices and circuits.
