Does City Shape Affect China's Economic Development?

This paper constructs a general equilibrium spatial urban model and measures city geometric compactness using the patch-shape index based on evidence from satellite imagery and basic vector maps of *** adopts the ordinary least squares and instrumental variable approaches to examine the effect of city shape on the urban development of 279 Chinese cities at or above the prefecture *** empirical results show that there was a significant negative correlation between city shape and economic ***,every 1 percentage point increase in the patch-shape index led to a decrease in city-scale GDP by 0.009 percent,housing prices by 0.044 percent,and wages by 0.024 *** compact urban layouts attracted an inflow of households and firms,stimulated city economic growth,and were associated with increased housing prices and wage *** paper considers the cities'initial conditions,trends in population changes(expanding,shrinking,and stagnant cities),and geographic factors,and finds that the results are *** array of policy implications can be drawn from the research.

Tunnel seismic advance prediction can effectively reduce the construction risk during tunnel *** with the 2-D method,the 3-D method is more conducive to describing the spatial characteristics of the geological body by adding the seismic data in the vertical ***,some drawbacks still need improvement in the current 3-D tunnel seismic prediction method.(1)The geometry is complex,which is destructiveness,high cost,and time-consuming,and will delay the tunnel construction schedule.(2)Illumination of the anomalous body is insufficient,and the precision of migration imaging is low.(3)Shot points are far away from the tunnel face,the energy loss at the shot points is more serious.(4)The received signals at the tunnel wall have the surface wave with strong energy when the shot points are placed on the tunnel wall.(5)The geometry is not linear,so the directional filtering method cannot be used to extract the reflection *** overcome the drawbacks of the current prediction method,a new 3-D symmetrical tunnel seismic prediction method is *** geophones are installed on the tunnel wall,two on the left side,two on the right side,and two on the top ***-four shot points are placed on the tunnel face and near both sides of the tunnel wall,twelve shot points on the left side and twelve shot points on the right *** shot points will move along with the forward excavation of the *** wavefield analysis,illumination statistics,and 3-D reverse time migration imaging are used to evaluate the proposed *** result of modeled data indicates that the proposed 3-D geometry has some advantages:(1)the geometry is simple and the geophone installation time is short;(2)it has high illumination energy,wide illumination range,and can improve the prediction distance and imaging accuracy;(3)the proposed 3-D method can better estimate the velocity of surrounding rock and is more conducive to extracting the reflection wave with high resolut

Regionalization of wheat powdery mildew oversummering in China based on digital elevation

Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici, the pathogen that causes wheat powdery mildew, is one of the most important diseases affecting wheat production in China, and the oversummering is the key stage of wheat powdery mildew epidemic. The more oversummering regionalization of wheat powdery mildew has played an important role in disease prediction, prevention and control. In this study, we analyzed the correlation between oversummering data of wheat powdery mildew and the meteorological factors over the past years, and determined that temperature was the key meteorological factor influencing oversummering of wheat powdery mildew. The average temperature at which wheat powdery mildew growth was terminated(26.2°C) was used as the threshold temperature to regionalize the oversummering range of wheat powdery mildew. This regionalization was done using the GIS ordinary kriging method combined with the Digital Elevation model(DEM) of China. The results showed that annual probability of oversummering region based on Model 26.2 were consistent with the actual survey of the more summer wheat powdery mildew. Wheat powdery mildew oversummering regions in China mainly cover mountainous or high-altitude areas, and these regions form a narrow north-south oversummering zone. Oversummering regions of wheat powdery mildew is mainly concentrated in the high-altitude wheat growing areas, including northern and southern Yunnan, northwestern Guizhou, northern and southern Sichuan, northern and southern Chongqing, eastern and southern Gansu, southeastern Ningxia, northern and southern Shaanxi, central Shanxi, western Hubei, western Henan, northern and western Hebei, western Liaoning, eastern Tibet, eastern Qinghai, western Xinjiang and other regions of China.

A molten salt reactor(MSR)has outstanding features considering the application of thorium fuel,inherent safety,sustainability,and resistance to ***,fissile material^(233)U is significantly rare at the current stage,thus it is difficult for MSR to achieve a pure thorium-uranium fuel ***,using plutonium or enriched uranium as the initial fuel for MSR is more *** this study,we aim to verify the feasibility of a small modular MSR that utilizes plutonium as the starting fuel(SM-MSR-Pu),and highlight its advantages and ***,the structural design and fuel management scheme of the SM-MSR-Pu were ***,the neutronic characteristics,such as the graphite-irradiation lifetime,burn-up performance,and coefficient of temperature reactivity were calculated to analyze the physical characteristics of the *** results indicate that plutonium is a feasible and advantageous starting fuel for a SM-MSR;however,there are certain shortcomings that need to be *** a 250 MWth SM-MSR-Pu,approximately 288.64 kg^(233)U of plutonium with a purity of greater than 90% is produced while 978.00 kg is burned every ten *** temperature reactivity coefficient decreases from -4.0 to -6.5 pcm K^(-1) over the 50-year operating time,which ensures a long-term safe ***,the amount of plutonium and accumulation of minor actinides(MAs)would increase as the burn-up time increases,and the annual production and purity of^(233)U will *** achieve an optimal burn-up performance,setting the entire operation time to 30 years is ***,more than 3600 kg of plutonium eventually accumulate in the *** research is required to effectively utilize this accumulated plutonium.

Waste-to-Energy treatment is a promising path to environment and energy management in the *** work detailed a binary molten salt thermal treatment methodology for the detoxification of spent cathode carbon block(SCCB)waste and the recycling of carbonaceous *** thermal behavior of SCCB and SCCB blended with molten salts was *** was found that the NaCl-Na_(2)CO_(3)binary molten salts significantly contributed to reducing pyrolysis onset temperature by 334.3 K compared to that of SCCB itself(i.e.,activation energy of pyrolysis reaction was reduced from 4.24×10^(5)to 2.30×10^(5)J/mol),thus helping to lower thermal treatment energy *** the addition of binary molten salts,the residue after thermal treatment in a horizontal tube furnace experiment was separated into two *** bottom-layer residue was mainly composed of molten *** fluorine content in the form of NaF and CaF_(2)of top-layer residue was reduced significantly while the carbon content remained ***,the leaching concentration of fluoride ion was decreased from 4620 mg/L to 856 mg/*** is noted that the NaF and CaF_(2)can be removed through water-leaching and hydrothermal acid-leaching methods and thus the carbonaceous materials with a calorific value of 17.5 MJ/kg were obtained.
