Phosphorus Speciation in Wetland Sediments of Zhujiang (Pearl) River Estuary,China

Phosphorus fractions and adsorption-release characteristics of sediments in the Zhujiang （Pearl） River estuary wetland were investigated. Results showed that the total phosphorus （TP） content in surface sediments ranged from 648.9 mg/kg to 1064.0 mg/kg; inorganic phosphorus （IP） was the major fraction of TP and ranged from 422.5 mg/kg to 643.9 mg/kg. Among the inorganic phosphorus, the main fractions were phosphorus bound to A1 and Fe （Fe/A1-P）, and calcium-bound phosphorus （Ca-P）, accounting for 23%-42% and 21%-67% of IP, respectively. The vertical distribution of TP contents were significantly positive correlated with organic phosphorus （Org-P） and Fe/A1-P contents. The bio-available phosphorus contents in vertical sediments varied from 128.6 mg/kg to 442.9 mg/kg, mainly existed in Fe-AI/P fraction, and increased from the bottom to top sediments. The transport of phosphorus in sediment-water in- terface was controlled by the soil characteristics. The active Fe and A1 content was considered as the main factor that determines adsorp- tion capacity in vegetated marsh wetland. The P buffering capacity of the sediments in vegetated marsh wetland was greater than that in mudflat wetland. The potential risk of eutrophication in the study area is high. Reducing terrestrial phosphorus discharge and preventing the sediment Fe/A1-P release to the interstitial water are the possible solutions to reduce the risk of eutrophication in estuary wetlands, and planting vegetation in estuary wetland can also reduce the release of phosphorus in surface sediment.

A meandering riverbank plays a vital role in maintaining natural river ecosystems,providing habitats for riparian ***,dams have significantly altered riverbank *** restore the riparian ecosystems,it is imperative to understand how different riverbank curvatures influence *** study aims to uncover the ecological impacts of riverbank curvature on the structure and assembly process of plant communities in the riparian zone of the Yangtze River,regulated by the Three Gorges Dam(TGD)in *** categorized the riparian zones into four types:cove,lobe,wavy and linear *** documented the composition and diversity of riparian plant *** findings revealed that wavy and cove riverbanks exhibited greater species diversity(with Shannon–Wiener diversity index values 1.5×higher)compared to communities along linear ***,the analysis of functional traits indicated that wavy riverbanks promoted the differentiation of plant functional traits,thus enhancing ecosystem functions,with functional dispersion index(FDis)values 1.3 times higher than those of linear *** variations in the assembly of riparian communities were also observed among different riverbanks,with standardized effect size(SES)values indicating a higher degree of niche differentiation in cove riverbanks(SES=0.4)compared to linear riverbanks(SES=–0.6).These results highlight the ecological importance of diverse riverbank curvatures in influencing the diversity,structure and assembly of riparian communities along the *** summary,this study underscores the necessity of maintaining or restoring various natural morphological curvatures when rehabilitating riparian communities along rivers impacted by human activities.

Long-lived luminescent materials possess wide application prospects in various areas,but their constructions still face a huge challenge,especially the achievement in *** aggregate is an effective method to attain intriguing luminescence,thus it is expected to build long-lived materials in *** this work,a series of new gold(I)complexes were developed by employing unique carbazole and phosphine as the ligands,and these resulting systems exhibited rare long lifetimes of milliseconds in the aggregate *** was well unveiled that these complexes emitted blue thermally activated delayed fluorescence(TADF)with the lifetimes of several microseconds in dilute solution;while orange-red phosphorescence with much longer lifetimes of several milliseconds were achieved in the aggregate *** our knowledge,this is the first implementation of aggregation-induced conversion from TADF to *** on their excellent luminescent properties,we successfully applied these complexes in cell imaging and inhibition of cancer cells.

Binary neutron star(NS)mergers may result in remnants of supra-massive or even stable NS,which have been supported indirectly by observed X-ray plateau of some gamma-ray burst(GRB)***,Xue et al.(2019)discovered an X-ray transient CDF-S XT2 that is powered by a magnetar from merger of double NS via X-ray plateau and following stepper ***,the decay slope after the plateau emission is slightly larger than the theoretical value of spin-down in electromagnetic(EM)dominated by losing its rotation *** this paper,we assume that the feature of X-ray emission is caused by a supra-massive magnetar central engine for surviving thousands of seconds to collapse into a black *** this scenario,we present the comparisons of the X-ray plateau luminosity,break time,and the parameters of magnetar between CDF-S XT2 and other short GRBs with internal plateau *** adopting the collapse time to constrain the equation of state(EOS),we find that three EOSs(GM1,DD2,and DDME2)are consistent with the observational *** the other hand,if the most released rotation energy of magnetar is dominated by GW radiation,we also constrain the upper limit of ellipticity of NS for given EOS,and its range is[0.32-1.3]×10^(-3).Its GW signal cannot be detected by Advanced LIGO or even for more sensitive Einstein Telescope in the future.

Steroid hormone 20-hydroxyecdysone disturbs fat body lipid metabolism and negatively regulates gluconeogenesis in Hyphantria cunea larvae

The steroid hormone 20-hydroxyecdysone(20E)has been described to regulate fat body lipid metabolism in insects,but its accurate regulatory mechanism,especially the crosstalk between 20E-induced lipid metabolism and gluconeogenesis remains largely ***,we specially investigated the effect of 20E on lipid metabolism and gluconeogenesis in the fat body of Hyphantria cunea larvae,a notorious pest in *** analysis showed that a total of 1907 lipid species were identified in the fat body of *** larvae assigned to 6 groups and 48 lipid *** differentially abundant lipids analysis showed a significant difference between 20E-treated and control samples,indicating that 20E caused a remarkable alteration of lipidomics profiles in the fat body of *** *** studies demonstrated that 20E accelerated fatty acidβ-oxidation,inhibited lipid synthesis,and promoted ***,the activities of pyruvate carboxylase,phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase,fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase,and glucose-6-phosphatase were dramatically suppressed by 20E in the fat body of *** *** well,the transcriptions of genes encoding these 4 rate-limiting gluconeogenic enzymes were significantly downregulated in the fat body of *** larvae after treatment with *** together,our results revealed that 20E disturbed fat body lipid homeostasis,accelerated fatty acidβ-oxidation and promoted lipolysis,but negatively regulated gluconeogenesis in *** *** findings might provide a new insight into hormonal regulation of glucose and lipid metabolism in insect fat body.

On the intrinsic shape of the gamma-ray spectrum for Fermi blazars

The curvature of the γ-ray spectrum in blazars may reflect the intrinsic distribution of emitting electrons, which will further give some information on the possible acceleration and cooling processes in the emitting region. The γ-ray spectra of Fermi blazars are normally fitted either by a single power-law（PL） or a log-normal（call Logarithmic Parabola, LP） form. The possible reason for this difference is not clear. We statistically explore this issue based on the different observational properties of 1419 Fermi blazars in the 3 LAC Clean Sample. We find that the γ-ray flux（100 Me V–100 Ge V） and variability index follow bimodal distributions for PL and LP blazars, where the γ-ray flux and variability index show a positive correlation. However, the distributions of γ-ray luminosity and redshift follow a unimodal distribution. Our results suggest that the bimodal distribution of γ-ray fluxes for LP and PL blazars may not be intrinsic and all blazars may have an intrinsically curved γ-ray spectrum, and the PL spectrum is just caused by the fitting effect due to less photons.

Values of the Wells and Revised Geneva Scores Combined with D-dimer in Diagnosing Elderly Pulmonary Embolism Patients

Background： Pulmonary embolism （PE） can be difficult to diagnose in elderly patients because of the coexistent diseases and the combination of drugs that they have taken. We aimed to compare the clinical diagnostic values of the Wells score, the revised Geneva score and each of them combined with D-dimer for suspected PE in elderly patients. Methods： Three hundred and thirty-six patients who were admitted for suspected PE were enrolled retrospectively and divided into two groups based on age （≥65 or 〈65 years old）. The Wells and revised Geneva scores were applied to evaluate the clinical probability of PE, and the positive predictive values of both scores were calculated using computed tomography pulmonary arteriography as a gold standard： overall accuracy was evaluated by the area under the curve （AUC） of receiver operator characteristic curve： the negative predictive values of D-dimcr, the Wells score combined with D-dimer, and the revised Geneva score combined with D-dimer were calculated. Results： Ninety-six cases （28.6%） were definitely diagnosed as PE among 336 cases, among them 56 cases （58.3%） were 〉65 years old. The positive predictive values of Wells and revised Geneva scores were 65.8% and 32.4%, respectively （P 〈 0.05） in the elderly patients; the AUC for the Wells score and the revised Geneva score in elderly was 0.682 （95% confidence interval [CI] ： 0.612- 0.746） and 0.655 （95% CI： 0.584-0.722）, respectively （P = 0.389）. The negative predictive values of D-dimer. the Wells score combined with D-dimer, and the revised Geneva score combined with D-dimer were 93.7%, 100%, and 100% in the elderly, respectively. Conclusions： The diagnostic value of the Wells score was higher than the revised Geneva score for the elderly cases with suspected PE. The combination of either the Wells score or the revised Geneva score with a normal D-dimer concentration is a sate strategy to rule out PE.

Establishment of acquired tracheoesophageal fistula using a modified magnetic compression technique in rabbits and its postmodeling evaluation

BACKGROUND Previous studies have validated the efficacy of both magnetic compression and surgical techniques in creating rabbit tracheoesophageal fistula(TEF)*** compression achieves a 100%success rate but requires more time,while surgery,though less frequently successful,offers rapid model establishment and technical maturity in larger animal *** To determine the optimal approach for rabbit disease modeling and refine the *** TEF models were created in 12 rabbits using both the modified magnetic compression technique and *** of the time to model establishment,success rate,food and water intake,weight changes,activity levels,bronchoscopy findings,white blood cell counts,and biopsies were *** response to the failures encountered during modified magnetic compression modeling,we increased the sample size to 15 rabbit models and assessed the repeatability and stability of the models,comparing them with the original magnetic compression *** The modified magnetic compression technique achieved a 66.7%success rate,whereas the success rate of the surgery technique was 33.3%.Surviving surgical rabbits might not meet subsequent experimental requirements due to TEF-related *** the modified magnetic compression group,one rabbit died,possibly due to magnet corrosion,and another died from tracheal magnet *** events occurred during the second round of modified magnetic compression modeling,with one rabbit possibly succumbing to aggravated lung *** operation time of the first round of modified magnetic compression was 3.2±0.6 min,which was significantly reduced to 2.1±0.4 min in the second round,compared to both the first round and that of the original *** The modified magnetic compression technique exhibits lower stress responses,a simple procedure,a high success rate,and lower modeling costs,making it a more appropriate choice for constructing TEF models in
