Na^+ and Water Uptake in Relation to the Radial Reflection Coefficient of Root in Arrowleaf Saltbush Under Salt Stress

The response of halophyte arrowleaf saltbush （Atriplex triangularis Willd） plants to a gradient of salt stress were investigated with hydroponically cultured seedlings. Under salt stress, both the Na^＋ uptake into root xylem and negative pressures in xylem vessels increased with the elevation of salinity （up to 500 mol/m^3） in the root environment. However, the increment in negative pressures in root xylem far from matches the decrease in the osmotic potential of the root bathing solutions, even when the osmotic potential of xylem sap is taken into consideration. The total water potential of xylem sap in arrowleaf saltbush roots was close to the osmotic potential of root bathing solutions when the salt stress was low, but a progressively increased gap between the water potential of xylem sap and the osmotic potential of root bathing solutions was observed when the salinity in the root environment was enhanced. The maximum gap was 1.4 MPa at a salinity level of 500 mol/m^3 without apparent dehydration of the tested plants. This discrepancy could not be explained with the current theories in plant physiology. The radial reflection coefficient of root in arrowleaf saltbush decreased with the enhanced salt stress was and accompanied by an increase in the Na^＋ uptake into xylem sap. However, the relative Na^＋ in xylem exudates based on the corresponding NaCl concentration in the root bathing solutions showed a tendency of decrease. The results showed that the reduction in the radial reflection coefficient of roots in the arrowleaf saltbush did not lead to a mass influx of NaCl into xylem when the radial reflection coefficient of the root was considerably small; and that arrowleaf saltbush could use small xylem pressures to counterbalance the salt stresses, either with the uptake of large amounts of salt, or with the development of xylem pressures dangerously negative. A series of 3-acyl-substituted isoindolinone derivatives were synthesized in a one-pot manner via the reaction of o-bromobenzaldehydes,isocyanides,and carboxylic acids in the presence of palladium catalyst and base. The reaction employing easily available starting materials features simple operation and high efficiency. The mechanistic study showed that the reaction might undergo 1) Pd-catalyzed [3+2] cyclization of o-bromobenzaldehyde with isocyanide and the re-insertion of another molecule of isocyanide,2) addition of carboxylic acid to in situ formed ketenimine followed by a rearrangement relay to give 3,3-diacyl-substituted isoindolinone derivative. Further transformations of the obtained products through decarbonylation could also be realized.

A new measurement method for the spatial distribution of neutron beam flux in boron neutron capture therapy(BNCT)is being developed based on the two-dimensional Micromegas *** address the issue of long processing times in traditional offline position reconstruction methods,this paper proposes a field programmable gate array based online position reconstruction method utilizing the micro-time projection chamber *** method encapsulates key technical aspects:a self-adaptive serial link technique built upon the dynamical adjustment of the delay chain length,fast sorting,a coordinate-matching technique based on the mapping between signal timestamps and random access memory(RAM)addresses,and a precise start point-merging technique utilizing a circular combined *** performance test of the selfadaptive serial link shows that the bit error rate of the link is better than 10-12 at a confidence level of 99%,ensuring reliable data *** experiment utilizing the readout electronics and Micromegas detector shows a spatial resolution of approximately 1.4 mm,surpassing the current method’s resolution level of 5 *** beam experiment confirms that the readout electronics system can obtain the flux spatial distribution of neutron beams online,thus validating the feasibility of the position reconstruction *** online position reconstruction method avoids traditional methods,such as bubble sorting and traversal searching,simplifies the design of the logic firmware,and reduces the time complexity from O(n2)to O(n).This study contributes to the advancement in measuring neutron beam flux for BNCT.

Elemene, derived from Curcuma wenyujin, one of the "8 famous genuine medicinal materials of Zhejiang province," exhibits remarkable antitumor activity. It has gained wide recognition in clinical practice for effectiveness on tumors. Dr. XIE Tian introduced the innovative concept of "molecular compatibility theory" by combining Chinese medicine principles, specifically the "monarch, minister, assistant, and envoy" theory, with modern biomedical technology. This groundbreaking approach, along with a systematic analysis of Chinese medicine and modern biomedical knowledge, led to the development of elemene nanoliposome formulations. These novel formulations offer numerous advantages, including low toxicity, well-defined composition, synergistic effects on multiple targets, and excellent biocompatibility. Following the principles of the "molecular compatibility theory", further exploration of cancer treatment strategies and methods based on elemene was undertaken. This comprehensive review consolidates the current understanding of elemene's potential antitumor mechanisms, recent clinical investigations, advancements in drug delivery systems, and structural modifications. The ultimate goal of this review is to establish a solid theoretical foundation for researchers, empowering them to develop more effective antitumor drugs based on the principles of "molecular compatibility theory".

Single argon bubble dynamics in liquid steel under Ruhrstahl-Heraeus(RH)vacuum conditions were simulated using the volume of fluid method,and the ideal gas law was used to consider bubble growth due to heat transfer and pressure *** simulation with a constant bubble density was also performed to validate the numerical method,and the predicted terminal bubble shape and velocity were found to agree with those presented in the Grace diagram and calculated by drag correlation,*** simulation results under RH conditions indicate that the terminal bubble shape and velocity cannot be *** primary bubble growth occurs within a rising distance of 0.3 m owing to heating by the high-temperature liquid steel;subsequently,the bubble continues to grow under equilibrium with the hydrostatic *** the initial diameter is 8-32 mm,the bubble diameter and rising velocity near the liquid surface are 80-200 mm and 0.5-0.8 m/s,*** bubble rises rectilinearly with an axisymmetric shape,and the shape evolution history includes an initial sphere,(dimpled)ellipsoid,and spherical cap with satellite bubbles.

Prediction of liquid circulation flow rate in RH degasser:improvement of decarburization at low atmospheric pressure

The two-fluid model coupled with population balance model was used for simulating the gas-liquid flow in the Ruhrstahl-Heraeus(RH)*** predicted circulation flow rate was compared with that measured from a water model experiment to validate the mathematical ***,influence of snorkel immersion depth on liquid circulation flow rate was numerically investigated under an atmospheric pressure of 101 and 84 kPa,*** result indicates that the circulation flow rate of the RH degasser in the high-altitude area was severely reduced because of the decrease in atmospheric ***,increasing the snorkel immersion depth from 0.5 to 0.7 m can compensate for the decrease in atmospheric *** test result indicates that decarburization rate is significantly enhanced by increasing the snorkel immersion *** optimization,the percentage of heats with a final carbon content less than 0.002 wt.%is significantly increased from 22.0%to 96.4%.

The classification of π-/σ-aromaticity depends on the electrons with the dominating ***,π-andσ-aromaticity are used to describe the unsaturated and saturated systems,***,it is rarely reported that π-aromaticity is dominated in a saturated *** we demonstrate that π-aromaticity could be dominating in several fully saturated four-membered rings(4MRs),supported by various aromaticity indices including ΔBL,NICS,EDDB,MCI,and Ad *** origin of suchπ-aromaticity in saturated rings could be attributed to an introduction of two additional electrons into the π-type LUMO of the parent neutral *** findings represent a novel approach to achieve π-aromaticity into a fully saturated system which has traditionally been dominated by σ-aromaticity.

Nonlinear circuits can show multistability when a magnetic flux-dependent memristor(MFDM) or a charge-sensitive memristor(CSM) is incorporated into a one branch circuit,which helps estimate magnetic or electric field *** this paper,two different kinds of memristors are incorporated into two branch circuits composed of a capacitor and a nonlinear resistor,thus a memristive circuit with double memristive channels is *** circuit equations are presented,and the dynamics in this oscillator with two memristive terms are ***,the memristive oscillator is converted into a memristive map by applying linear transformation on the sampled time series for the memristive *** Hamilton energy function for the memristive oscillator is obtained by using the Helmholtz theorem,and it can be mapped from the field energy of the memristive *** energy function for the dual memristive map is suggested by imposing suitable weights on the discrete energy *** dynamical behaviors of the new memristive map are investigated,and an adaptive law is proposed to regulate the firing mode in the memristive *** work will provide a theoretical basis and experimental guidance for oscillator-to-map transformation and discrete map energy calculation.

In this paper,the dynamics(including shadowing property,expansiveness,topological stability and entropy)of several types of upper semi-continuous set-valued maps are mainly considered from differentiable dynamical systems points of *** is shown that(1)if f is a hyperbolic endomorphism then for eachε>0 there exists a C^(1)-neighborhood U of f such that the induced set-valued map F_(f,U)has theε-shadowing property,and moreover,if f is an expanding endomorphism then there exists a C^(1)-neighborhood U of f such that the induced set-valued map F_(f,U)has the Lipschitz shadowing property;(2)when a set-valued map F is generated by finite expanding endomorphisms,it has the shadowing property,and moreover,if the collection of the generators has no coincidence point then F is expansive and hence is topologically stable;(3)if f is an expanding endomorphism then for eachε>0 there exists a C^(1)-neighborhood U of f such that h(F_(f,U,ε))=h(f);(4)when F is generated by finite expanding endomorphisms with no coincidence point,the entropy formula of F is ***,the dynamics of the set-valued maps based on discontinuous maps on the interval are also considered.
