Multi-scale analysis of ecosystem services trade-offs in an ecotone in the Eastern Margin of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau

Understanding the trade-offs among ecosystem services(ESs)at multiple scales is a key challenge to effective environmental ***,the scale effect of ESs trade-offs in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau(QTP)has received little *** study investigated the scale effects of ESs trade-offs in Bailongjiang Watershed(BLJW),a typical transitional ecotone from the Loess Plateau to the Tibetan Plateau with multiple ESs,intensive human activities and frequent geological disasters in the Eastern Margin of the QTP,*** key ESs including food supply(FS),soil conservation(SC),water conservation(WC),and habitat quality(HQ)in BLJW in 1990,2002,and 2016 were mapped to analyze the scale effects at the watershed,county,and township *** results indicated varying scale-related temporal and spatial relationships among FS,SC,WC,and *** trade-offs between FS-SC and FS-WC initially increased and then decreased during 1990-2002 and 2002-2016,respectively,while the trade-offs between SC-WC,SC-HQ,HQ-WC,and HQ-FS first decreased and then increased at the same *** magnitudes of the trade-offs among the four ESs are in the order of watershed scale>township scale>county *** the major land-use types in BLJW,the trade-offs between WC-FS and between HQ-FS in farmland and grassland were higher than those of other land *** is a strong trade-off between SC-HQ in forestland and a weak trade-off between SC-WC in farmland and *** trade-offs between the six ESs pairs varied and were scale-dependent mainly due to spatial heterogeneity in the landscape and in human *** the ESs trade-offs at the watershed,county,and township scales provides a scientific basis for the formulation of environmental management strategies at appropriate spatial *** the BLJW watershed scale,more attention should be paid on farmland and grassland planning and its management,also,forestland should be enlarged if *** the county and townshi

The YSZ,Planck - YSZ,XMM scaling relation and its difference between cool-core and non-cool-core clusters

We construct a sample of 70 clusters using data from XMM-Newton and Planck to investigate the YSZ,Planck-YSZ,XMM scaling relation and the cool-core influences on this ***,XMM is calculated by accurately de-projected temperature and electron number density profiles derived from ***,Planckis the latest Planck data restricted to our precise X-ray cluster size θ*** study the cool-core influences on the YSZ,Planck-YSZ,XMM scaling relation,we apply two criteria,namely the limits of central cooling time and classic mass deposition rate,to distinguish cool-core clusters(CCCs) from non-cool-core clusters(NCCCs).We also use YSZ,Planckfrom other papers,which are derived from different methods,to confirm our *** intercept and slope of the YSZ,Planck-YSZ,XMM scaling relation are A =-0.86 ± 0.30 and B = 0.83 ± 0.06 *** intrinsic scatter is σins= 0.14 ± *** ratio of YSZ,Planck/YSZ,XMM is 1.03 ± 0.05,which is in excellent statistical agreement with *** in the YSZ,Planck-YSZ,XMM scaling relation between CCCs and NCCCs are found in the *** are independent of the cool-core classification criteria and YSZ,Planckcalculation methods,although the discrepancies are more significant under the classification criteria of classic mass deposition *** intrinsic scatter of CCCs(0.04) is quite small compared to that of NCCCs(0.27).The ratio of YSZ,Planck/YSZ,XMM for CCCs is 0.89 ± 0.05,suggesting that CCCs’ YSZ,XMM may overestimate the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich(SZ)*** contrast,the ratio of YSZ,Planck/YSZ,XMM for NCCCs is 1.14 ± 0.12,which indicates that NCCCs’ YSZ,XMM may underestimate the SZ signal.

Manipulation and Separation of Particles of Metal Oxides by Dielectrophoresis

With the development of nanotecbnology, the separation and manipulation of micro-nano-panicles have become a research focus in the field of nano-materials, nielectrophoresis（DEP） is a non-contact technology for the separation and manipulation of micro-nano-particles. Here is reported the design and fabrication of a DEP based microchip with microelectrode arrays for capturing micro-particles of inorganic oxides in petroleum. The DEP behavior of micro-particles of inorganic oxides in oil media was explored via this microchip. The microchip shows relatively a good DEP response to inorganic oxides in oil media. Furthermore, much more factors were explored such as fiequency（Hz）, and particle size（μm）, as well as metal valence. As a conclusion, the best frequency is 50 Hz. It is expected to capture panicles with different sizes or separate different oxide panicles by regulating DEP conditions. Thus, a new method could be established for the separation and purification panicles of different oxides, as well as the separation and manipulation of an oxide with different particle sizes.

An efficient mid-wave infrared gain-switched Cr^(2+):ZnSe laser pumped by a 2.058μm Tm,Ho:YVO_(4)laser is *** much as 3.86 W output is achieved with the pump power of 13.4 W at puke repetition frequency of 15 kHz,corresponding to the slope efficiency of 30.9%.With a quartz birefringent filter inserted in the laser cavity and by rotating the external angle of the quartz birefringent filter,wavelength tuning range nearly from 2453nm to 2508nm with 5nm linewidth(FWHM)is also obtained.

The Legal Conflicts, the Legislative Vacancies and the Legislative Lags in the Chinese Environmental Legal System

The inconsistency and disharmony in China’s environmental legal system are seriously undermining the authority and effectiveness of environmental laws, making it hard to achieve the national environmental legislative goals. It is found in this study that at least 18 administrative regulations and rules conflict with the five recently-revised environmental laws. The legislative vacancy rate of province-level environmental laws reaches 27.8%, and that of city-level environmental laws in the major cities reaches 59.7%. Besides, 66% of the local including both province-level and city-level environmental laws have the problem of legislative lags, with an average lag of 2547.8 days. In addition, there are many legal conflicts between national environmental laws and local environmental laws. In order to help China to build a harmonious and unified environmental legal system, some suggestions are proposed in this study, including comprehensively examining the lower-level environmental laws, strengthening the leading role of local people’s congresses in environmental legislation, improving the construction of filing and review mechanism, and optimizing the mechanisms for information disclosure and public participation.

metal oxide electronic interactions in composite electrocatalysts have a considerable impact on their catalytic *** this study,we successfully synthesized an electrocatalytic material composed of MoO_(3)/C speciessupported Pd nanoparticles(Pd-MoO_(3)/C)using a convenient hydrothermal method,which exhibited excellent catalytic activities for both ethanol oxidation and oxygen reduction in KOH *** specific activity of PdMoO_(3)/C toward ethanol oxidation with MoO_(3)loading(40wt%)was~2.6 times greater than that for the commercial Pd/C(10 wt%)with the same Pd *** particular,the activity could effectively hold up to~60%of its maximum activity after 500-cycle tests,demonstrating improved cyclical ***,the fast electron transfer kinetics toward oxygen reduction for Pd-MoO_(3)/C(40%)were also comparable to those of commercial Pt/C(20 wt%)*** superior electrochemical features are primarily derived from the stronger electronic coupling between Pd and MoO_(3)through charge transfer,which can supply more active centers and improve the anti-poisoning ***,the MoO_(3)species in the Pd-MoO_(3)/C composite may provide additional benefits in terms of electrical conductivity and dispersion.

AIM:To explore an xeno-free and defined coating substrate suitable for the culture of H9 human embryonic stem cell-derived retinal pigment epithelial(hES-RPE)cells in vitro,and compare the behaviors and functions of h ESRPE cells on two culture substrates,laminin521(LN-521)and truncated recombinant human vitronectin(VTN-N).METHODS:hES-RPE cells were used in the *** abilities of LN-521 and VTN-N at different concentrations to adhere to hES-RPE cells were compared with a high-content imaging *** real-time polymerase chain reaction was used to evaluate RPE-specific gene expression levels midway(day 10)and at the end(day 20)of the time *** polarity was observed by immunofluorescent staining for apical and basal markers of the *** phagocytic ability of hES-RPE cells was identified by flow cytometry and ***:The cell adhesion assay showed that the ability of LN-521 to adhere to hES-RPE cells was *** increasing coating concentration,an increasing number of cells attached to the surface of LN-521-coated *** contrast,VTN-N presented a strong adhesive ability even at a low *** optimal concentration of LN-521 and VTN-N required to coat and adhesion to hES-RPE cells were 2 and 0.25μg/cm^(2),***,both LN-521 and VTN-N could facilitate adoption of the desired cobblestone cellular morphology with tight junction and showed polarity by the hES-RPE ***,hES-RPE cells cultivated in VTN-N had a greater phagocytic ability,and it took less time for these hES-RPE cells to ***:VTN-N is a more suitable coating substrate for cultivating hES-RPE cells.

Defensive behaviors induced by innate fear or Pavlovian fear conditioning are crucial for animals to avoid threats and ensure *** zona incerta(ZI)has been demonstrated to play important roles in fear learning and fear memory,as well as modulating auditory-induced innate defensive ***,whether the neuronal subtypes in the ZI and specific circuits can mediate the innate fear response is largely ***,we found that somatostatin(SST)-positive neurons in the rostral ZI of mice were activated by a visual innate fear *** inhibition of SST-positive neurons in the rostral ZI resulted in reduced flight responses to an overhead looming *** activation of SST-positive neurons in the rostral ZI induced fear-like defensive behavior including increased immobility and *** addition,we demonstrated that manipulation of the GABAergic projections from SST-positive neurons in the rostral ZI to the downstream nucleus reuniens(Re)mediated fear-like defensive *** trans-synaptic tracing also revealed looming stimulus-activated neurons in the superior colliculus(SC)that projected to the Re-projecting SST-positive neurons in the rostral ZI(SC-ZIrSST-Re pathway).Together,our study elucidates the function of SST-positive neurons in the rostral ZI and the SC-ZIrSST-Re tri-synaptic circuit in mediating the innate fear response.

High Power Q-Switched Dual-End-Pumped Ho:YAG Laser

We report the high power acousto-optically Q-switched operation of a dual-end-pumped Ho:YAG laser at room *** the Q-swithched mode,a maximum pulse energy of 2.4 mJ and a minimum pulse width of 23 ns at the repetition rate of 10 kHz are achieved,resulting in a peak power of 104.3 *** beam quality factor of M^(2)~1.5,which is demonstrated by a knife-edge *** addition,the Ho:YAG laser is employed as a pumping source of ZGP optical parametric oscillator,and its total average output power is 13.2 W at 3.9μm and 4.4μm with a slope efficiency of 68.4%.
