Luminescence quench is common in overdoped upconversion nanoparticles.Various methods have been proposed to counteract the adverse effects of concentration quenching on luminescence,but in upconversion nanoparticles that are highly doped with both sensitizers and activators,the factors that contribute to the diminishing of the emission cannot be summarized by a single cause.Herein,a core-shell design is used to spatially separate the sensitizer(Yb^(3+))and activator(Er^(3+))and to modulate the emission by changes in the distribution position as well as the concentration of the dopant ions in order to probe the factors affecting the luminescence.When the sensitizer ions are located in the core,the luminescence intensity of the nanoparticles is significantly weaker than that of the other distribution,which implies that the effect of sensitizer and activator on luminescence in the highly doped state has a different and more complex mechanism.The intensity of the emission is more affected by Yb^(3+)than Er^(3+),which includes not only the self-quenching of Yb^(3+),but also the dominance in the Yb^(3+)-Er^(3+)cross-relaxation.In this finding may provide new ideas for revealing the reasons for the diminished luminescence of highly doped upconversion nanoparticles and thus for enhancing luminescence.

In recent years,there has been significant research on the application of deep learning(DL)in topology optimization(TO)to accelerate structural design.However,these methods have primarily focused on solving binary TO problems,and effective solutions for multi-material topology optimization(MMTO)which requires a lot of computing resources are still lacking.Therefore,this paper proposes the framework of multiphase topology optimization using deep learning to accelerate MMTO design.The framework employs convolutional neural network(CNN)to construct a surrogate model for solving MMTO,and the obtained surrogate model can rapidly generate multi-material structure topologies in negligible time without any iterations.The performance evaluation results show that the proposed method not only outputs multi-material topologies with clear material boundary but also reduces the calculation cost with high prediction accuracy.Additionally,in order to find a more reasonable modeling method for MMTO,this paper studies the characteristics of surrogate modeling as regression task and classification task.Through the training of 297 models,our findings show that the regression task yields slightly better results than the classification task in most cases.Furthermore,The results indicate that the prediction accuracy is primarily influenced by factors such as the TO problem,material category,and data scale.Conversely,factors such as the domain size and the material property have minimal impact on the accuracy.

Methamphetamine addiction is a brain disorder characterized by persistent drug-seeking behavior, which has been linked with aberrant synaptic plasticity. An increasing body of evidence suggests that aberrant synaptic plasticity is associated with the activation of the NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain containing-3(NLRP3) inflammasome. 3′-Deoxyadenosin, an active component of the Chinese fungus Cordyceps militaris, has strong anti-inflammatory effects. However, whether 3′-deoxyadenosin attenuates methamphetamine-induced aberrant synaptic plasticity via an NLRP3-mediated inflammatory mechanism remains unclear. We first observed that 3′-deoxyadenosin attenuated conditioned place preference scores in methamphetamine-treated mice and decreased the expression of c-fos in hippocampal neurons. Furthermore, we found that 3′-deoxyadenosin reduced the aberrant potentiation of glutamatergic transmission and restored the methamphetamine-induced impairment of synaptic plasticity. We also found that 3′-deoxyadenosin decreased the expression of NLRP3 and neuronal injury. Importantly, a direct NLRP3 deficiency reduced methamphetamine-induced seeking behavior, attenuated the impaired synaptic plasticity, and prevented neuronal damage. Finally, NLRP3 activation reversed the effect of 3′-deoxyadenosin on behavior and synaptic plasticity, suggesting that the anti-neuroinflammatory mechanism of 3′-deoxyadenosin on aberrant synaptic plasticity reduces methamphetamine-induced seeking behavior. Taken together, 3′-deoxyadenosin alleviates methamphetamine-induced aberrant synaptic plasticity and seeking behavior by inhibiting the NLRP3 inflammasome.

Optimization problems are prevalent in various fields,and the gradient-based gradient descent algorithm is a widely adopted optimization method.However,in classical computing,computing the numerical gradient for a function with variables necessitates at least d+1 function evaluations,resulting in a computational complexity of O(d).As the number of variables increases,the classical gradient estimation methods require substantial resources,ultimately surpassing the capabilities of classical computers.Fortunately,leveraging the principles of superposition and entanglement in quantum mechanics,quantum computers can achieve genuine parallel computing,leading to exponential acceleration over classical algorithms in some cases.In this paper,we propose a novel quantum-based gradient calculation method that requires only a single oracle calculation to obtain the numerical gradient result for a multivariate function.The complexity of this algorithm is just O(1).Building upon this approach,we successfully implemented the quantum gradient descent algorithm and applied it to the variational quantum eigensolver(VQE),creating a pure quantum variational optimization algorithm.Compared with classical gradient-based optimization algorithm,this quantum optimization algorithm has remarkable complexity advantages,providing an efficient solution to optimization problems.The proposed quantum-based method shows promise in enhancing the performance of optimization algorithms,highlighting the potential of quantum computing in this field.

Post-acute ischemic stroke hyperglycemia aggravates destruction of the blood-brain barrier

Post-acute ischemic stroke hyperglycemia increases the risk of hemorrhagic transformation, which is associated with blood-brain barrier disruption. Brain microvascular endothelial cells are a major component of the blood-brain barrier. Intercellular mitochondrial transfer has emerged as a novel paradigm for repairing cells with mitochondrial dysfunction. In this study, we first investigated whether mitochondrial transfer exists between brain microvascular endothelial cells, and then investigated the effects of post-acute ischemic stroke hyperglycemia on mitochondrial transfer between brain microvascular endothelial cells. We found that healthy brain microvascular endothelial cells can transfer intact mitochondria to oxygen glucose deprivation-injured brain microvascular endothelial cells. However, post-oxygen glucose deprivation hyperglycemia hindered mitochondrial transfer and exacerbated mitochondrial dysfunction. We established an in vitro brain microvascular endothelial cell model of the blood-brain barrier. We found that post-acute ischemic stroke hyperglycemia reduced the overall energy metabolism levels of brain microvascular endothelial cells and increased permeability of the blood-brain barrier. In a clinical study, we retrospectively analyzed the relationship between post-acute ischemic stroke hyperglycemia and the severity of hemorrhagic transformation. We found that post-acute ischemic stroke hyperglycemia serves as an independent predictor of severe hemorrhagic transformation. These findings suggest that post-acute ischemic stroke hyperglycemia can aggravate disruption of the blood-brain barrier by inhibiting mitochondrial transfer.

BACKGROUND Diabetic kidney disease(DKD),characterized by increased urinary microalbumin levels and decreased renal function,is the primary cause of end-stage renal di-sease.Its pathological mechanisms are complicated and multifactorial;Therefore,sensitive and specific biomarkers are needed.Urinary exosome originate from diverse renal cells in nephron segments and partially mirror the pathological changes in the kidney.The microRNAs(miRNAs)in urinary exosome are remark-ably stable and highly tissue-specific for the kidney.METHODS Type 2 diabetic mellitus(T2DM)patients were recruited from the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University and were divided into two groups:DM,diabetic pa-tients without albuminuria[urinary albumin to creatinine ratio(UACR)<30 mg/g]and DKD,diabetic patients with albuminuria(UACR≥30 mg/g).Healthy subjects were the normal control(NC)group.Urinary exosomal miR-145-5p,miR-27a-3p,and miR-29c-3p,were detected using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction.The correlation between exosomal miRNAs and the clinical in-dexes was evaluated.The diagnostic values of exosomal miR-145-5p and miR-27a-3p in DKD were determined using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)analysis.Biological functions of miR-145-5p were investigated by performing RESULTS Urinary exosomal expression of miR-145-5p and miR-27a-3p was more upregulated in the DKD group than in the DM group(miR-145-5p:4.54±1.45 vs 1.95±0.93,P<0.001;miR-27a-3p:2.33±0.79 vs 1.71±0.76,P<0.05)and the NC group(miR-145-5p:4.54±1.45 vs 1.55±0.83,P<0.001;miR-27a-3p:2.33±0.79 vs 1.10±0.51,P<0.001).The exosomal miR-145-5p and miR-27a-3p positively correlated with albuminuria and serum creatinine and negatively correlated with the estimated glomerular filtration rate.miR-27a-3p was also closely related to blood glucose,gly-cosylated hemoglobin A1c,and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol.ROC analysis revealed that miR-145-5p had a better area under the curve of 0.88[95%confidence interval(CI):0.784-0.985,P<0.0001]in diagnosing DKD than miR-27a-3p with

Polymer dielectrics capable of operating efficiently at high electric fields and elevated temperatures are urgently demanded by next-generation electronics and electrical power systems.While inorganic fillers have been extensively utilized to improved high-temperature capacitive performance of dielectric polymers,the presence of thermodynamically incompatible organic and inorganic components may lead to concern about the long-term stability and also complicate film processing.Herein,zero-dimensional polymer dots with high electron affinity are introduced into photoactive allyl-containing poly(aryl ether sulfone)to form the all-organic polymer composites for hightemperature capacitive energy storage.Upon ultraviolet irradiation,the crosslinked polymer composites with polymer dots are efficient in suppressing electrical conduction at high electric fields and elevated temperatures,which significantly reduces the high-field energy loss of the composites at 200℃.Accordingly,the ultraviolet-irradiated composite film exhibits a discharged energy density of 4.2 J cm^(−3)at 200℃.Along with outstanding cyclic stability of capacitive performance at 200℃,this work provides a promising class of dielectric materials for robust high-performance all-organic dielectric nanocomposites.

Usually it is generally believed that the Er element forms the Er_(2)Fe_(14)B phase,which will seriously deteriorate the magnetic properties.Distinctly,here we report the balance of corrosion resistance and coercivity in Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets through using simple Er_(30)Cu_(70) additive whose price is much lower than Dy and Tb.By reasonably controlling Er_(30)Cu_(70) addition,the corrosion resistance is improved at the minimum limit of reducing the magnetic properties.Through studying the influence mechanism of Er element,it is found that the main effect of Er elements is to replace the Nd elements at the edge of the main phase grains to form a(Er,Nd)_(2)Fe_(14)B shell with low H_(A),resulting in the reduction of magnetic properties.The improvement of corrosion resistance mainly comes from the more stable Cu element introduced at the grain boundary.At the same time,the target magnets also show different advantages under different heat treatment methods.Above findings may spur progress towards developing the lowcost permanent magnets that rival the commercial Nd-Fe-B counterpart.

Effect of dynamic loading orientation on fracture properties of surrounding rocks in twin tunnels

For expedited transportation,vehicular tunnels are often designed as two adjacent tunnels,which frequently experience dynamic stress waves from various orientations during blasting excavation.To analyze the impact of dynamic loading orientation on the stability of the twin-tunnel,a split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)apparatus was used to conduct a dynamic test on the twin-tunnel specimens.The two tunnels were rotated around the specimen’s center to consider the effect of dynamic loading orientation.LS-DYNA software was used for numerical simulation to reveal the failure properties and stress wave propagation law of the twin-tunnel specimens.The findings indicate that,for a twin-tunnel exposed to a dynamic load from different orientations,the crack initiation position appears most often at the tunnel corner,tunnel spandrel,and tunnel floor.As the impact direction is created by a certain angle(30°,45°,60°,120°,135°,and 150°),the fractures are produced in the middle of the line between the left tunnel corner and the right tunnel spandrel.As the impact loading angle(a)is 90°,the tunnel sustains minimal damage,and only tensile fractures form in the surrounding rocks.The orientation of the impact load could change the stress distribution in the twin-tunnel,and major fractures are more likely to form in areas where the tensile stress is concentrated.

Magneto-electric integrated design strategy of NiCo@C composites for synergistic absorption and conversion in mid-high frequency microwaves

Achieving synergistic absorption of electromagnetic waves(EMWs)in the mid-high frequency and absorption band conversion is an urgent problem.However,the present solution is usually a straightforward mixture of magnetic component-carbon component.Hereby,we optimize the magnetic properties and electrical relaxation response from a chemical synthesis perspective.Through integrated design,the contents of carbon components and multi-dimensional morphology are controlled by retaining strong magnetic properties.The morphology design and the construction of heterogeneous interfaces will boost the intense response of charge in the surrounding to enhance the polarization effect.The multi-dimensional structure and electromagnetic(EM)properties of the sample after optimized engineering have an extremely powerful absorption conversion effect on EMW energy.NiCo@C particles ultimately achieve synergistic absorption effects at low thickness(d<3.5 mm)at middle frequencies(6–10 GHz)and high frequencies(10.5–18 GHz).Our work establishes a correlation mechanism between the physical and chemical properties of materials and EM parameters.It also provides insight into the synergistic absorption of EMWs in the mid-high frequency and absorption band conversion strategies.
