Relationship between different sources of drinking water,water quality improvement and gastric cancer mortality in Changle County--A retrospectivecohort study in high incidence area

IM To investigate the relationship between different sources of drinking water supply, water quality improvement and gastric cancer mortality rate in a high risk area.METHODS A retrospectivecohort survey was carried out in all towns of this county to study the effect of different sources of drinking water supply and water quality improvement on gastric cancer mortality rate.RESULTS The gastric cancer mortality rate among the population 12405/105 drinking river water was obviously higher than that of drinking shallow well water (7485/105) (P<001) according to the Zhanggang Town 16 years accumulated data. The same pattern was presented in 7 towns after balancing the confounders. The gastric cancer mortality rate of population drinking river water was 8603/105, which was higher than those drinking shallow well water (6203/105) and tap water (2978/105) (P<001). When the drinking water switched from river and well water to tap water, the gastric cancer incidence decreased to 3033/105 and 2610/105, and the gastric cancer mortality decreased by 59% and 57% respectively.CONCLUSION The quality of drinking water is one of the important factors of increased incidence of gastric cancer in Changle County, and water quality improvement has a beneficial effect, but the cause of high gastric cancer incidence may be multifactorial in this area..

Physics-informed battery degradation prediction:Forecasting charging curves using one-cycle data

Accurately predicting battery degradation is crucial for battery system ***,due to the complexities of aging mechanisms and limitations of historical data,comprehensively indicating battery degradation solely through maximum capacity loss assessment is *** machine learning offers promising solutions,it often overlooks domain knowledge,resulting in reduced accu racy,increased computational burden and decreased ***,this study proposes a method to predict the voltage-capacity（V-Q） curve during battery degradation with limited historical *** process is achieved through two physically interpretable components:a lightweight interpretable physical model and a physics-informed neural *** components incorporate domain knowledge into machine learning to improve V-Q curve prediction performance and enhance *** validation was conducted on 52 batteries of different types under different testing *** proposed method can accurately predict future *** for hundreds of cycles using only one-present-cycle V-Q curve,with root mean square error and mean absolute error basically less than 0.035 Ah and R2basically less than 98.5%.This means that incremental capacity curves can be extracted from the predicted results for a more comprehensive and accurate battery degradation ***,the method can flexibly adjust prediction length and density to cater to the practical needs of long-cycle prediction and data *** study provides a viable method for rapid degradation prediction and is expected to be generalized to in-vehicle implementations.

Revisit the Gibbs-Thomson Equation Fitting of Poly(butylene succinate)Based on Oligomer Extended-Chain Crystals

The equilibrium melting point(T_(m)^(0))is a crucial thermodynamic parameter for characterizing the crystallization and melting behavior of semi-crystalline ***,the direct measurement of T_(m)^(0) poses a significant challenge because of the difficulty in physically fabricating fully-extended chain crystals of high-molecular-weight ***,various extrapolation equations for T_(m)^(0) have been proposed that utilize the thermal properties of ordinary folded-chain *** these,the Gibbs-Thomson equation is one of the most commonly employed for *** its widespread use,there are notable variations in the T_(m)^(0) values obtained by different research groups,even when based on similar *** raises questions about the validity and accuracy of using the Gibbs-Thomson equation to linearly extrapolate T_(m)^(0).In this study,we prepared a series of oligomer extended-chain crystals(ECCs)of poly(butylene succinate)(PBS)and used their properties for Gibbs-Thomson *** results reveal a perfect linear relationship,with an extrapolated T_(m)^(0) value of 136.08℃.The basal surface free energy of the oligomer ECCs was calculated as 0.084 J/m^(2),which is approximately twice that of folded-chain *** difference is attributed to the aggregation of highly mobile free tails on the crystal *** two structural features of oligomer ECCs—large thickness and fixed surface—better fulfill the conditions for applying the Gibbs-Thomson equation,ensuring its validity and ***,we believe that the Gibbs-Thomson fit can produce reliable results when sufficient high-quality data are used.

Abiotic aerobic oxidation pathways of stibnite revealed by oxygen and sulfur isotope systematics of sulfate

The environmental threat posed by stibnite is an important geoenvironmental issue of current *** better understand stibnite oxidation pathways,aerobic abiotic batch experiments were conducted in aqueous solution with varyingδ^(18)O_(H_(2)O) value at initial neutral pH for different lengths of time(15-300 days).The sulfate oxygen and sulfur isotope compositions as well as concentrations of sulfur and antimony species were *** sulfur isotope fractionation factor(△^(34)S_(SO4-stibnite))values decreased from 0.8‰to-2.1‰during the first 90 days,and increased to 2.6‰at the 180 days,indicating the dominated intermediate sulfur species such as S_(2)O_(3)^(2-),S0,and H_(2)S(g)involved in Sb2S3 oxidation *** incorporation of O into sulfate derived from O_(2)(~100%)indicated that the dissociated O_(2)was only directly adsorbed on the stibnite-S sites in the initial stage(0-90 days).The proportion of O incorporation into sulfate from water(27%-52%)increased in the late stage(90-300 days),which suggested the oxidation mechanism changed to hydroxyl attack on stibnite-S sites promoted by nearby adsorbed O_(2)on stibnite-Sb *** exchange of oxygen between sulfite and water may also contributed to the increase of water derived O into SO42-.The new insight of stibnite oxidation pathway contributes to the understanding of sulfide oxidation mechanism and helps to interpret field data.

LPWCO method for the treatment of high concentrated organic wastewater

Based on wet air oxidation (WAO) and Fenton reagent, this paper raised a new low pressure wet catalytic oxidation (LPWCO) which requires low pressure for the treatment of highly concentrated and refractory organic wastewater. Compared with general wet air oxidation, the pressure of the treatment(0 1—0 6MPa) is only one of tens to percentage of latter (3 5—10MPa). In addition, its temperature is no more than 180℃. Compared with Fenton reagent, while H 2O 2/COD(weight ratio) is less than 1 2, the removal of COD in the treatment is over twenty percents more than Fenton's even the value of COD is more than 14000mg/L. In this paper, the effect factor of COD removal and the mechanism of this treatment were studied. The existence of synergistic effect (catalytic oxidation and carbonization) for COD removal in H 2SO 4 Fenton reagent system under the condition of applied pressure and heating (0 1—0 6MPa, 104—165℃) was verified. The best condition of this disposal are as follows: H 2O 2/COD (weight ratio)=0 2—1 0, Fe 2+ 0 6×10 -3 mol, H 2SO 4 0 5mol, COD>1×10 4mg/L, the operating pressure is 0 1—0 6MPa and temperature is 104—165℃. This method suits to dispose the high concentrated refractory wastewater, especially to the wastewater containing H 2SO 4 produced in the manufacture of pesticide, dyestuff and petrochemical works.

Metagenomics reveals the resistance patterns of electrochemically treated erythromycin fermentation residue

Erythromycin fermentation residue(EFR)represents a typical hazardous waste produced by the microbial pharmaceutical *** electrolysis is promising for EFR disposal,its microbial threats remain ***,metagenomics was coupled with the random forest technique to decipher the antibiotic resistance patterns of electrochemically treated *** showed that 95.75%of erythromycin could be removed in 2 *** temporarily influenced EFRmicrobiota,where the relative abundances of Proteobacteria and Actinobacteria increased,while those of Fusobacteria,Firmicutes,and Bacteroidetes decreased.A total of 505 antibiotic resistance gene(ARG)subtypes encoding resistance to 21 antibiotic types and 150 mobile genetic elements(MGEs),mainly including plasmid(72)and transposase(52)were assembled in *** linear regression models were identified among microbial richness,ARG subtypes,and MGE numbers(r^(2)=0.50-0.81,p<0.001).Physicochemical factors of EFR(Total nitrogen,total organic carbon,protein,and humus)regulated ARG and MGE assembly(%IncMSE value=5.14-14.85).The core ARG,MGE,and microbe sets(93.08%-99.85%)successfully explained 89.71%-92.92%of total ARG and MGE ***,gene aph(3 )-I,transposase tnpA,and Mycolicibacterium were the primary drivers of the resistance dissemination *** study also proposes efficient resistance mitigation measures,and provides recommendations for future management of antibiotic fermentation residue.
