The East Tianshan contains many late Paleozoic magmatic and polymetallic deposits.Recent studies demonstrate that the early Paleozoic volcanic rocks discovered in the northern region of East Tianshan can be subdivided into the Daliugou,Hongliuxia and Kalatag formations.Here,we report zircon U-Pb ages of volcanic rocks and quartz diorite porphyry,together with whole-rock geochemical and Sr-Nd isotope data of early Paleozoic volcanic rocks,in order to investigate their petrogenesis and geodynamic setting.Zircon U-Pb analyses of the rocks suggest that the Kalatag Formation formed at ca.438-413 Ma.Geochemical characteristics of the early Paleozoic volcanic rocks exhibit typical subduction-related features.They have high Mg^(#)(44-75),positiveε_(Nd)(t)values(0.25-7.88),low^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr ratios(0.70457 to 0.70588)and young two-stage Hf isotope model ages(551-446 Ma),consistent with a depleted mantle origin with limited crustal contamination.The basaltic andesite and andesite have relatively high MgO contents(6.1-9.4 wt%),suggesting that they belong to high-magnesian andesites.They were most likely derived from the partial melting of mantle peridotite caused by the addition of fluids released by subducted oceanic slab.Based on regional geology,geochemical characteristics and previous studies,we infer that the southward subduction of the Junggar Ocean slab resulted in the generation of early Paleozoic volcanic rocks and arc setting-related metallogenic systems in the Kalatag area.

Basement Characteristics and Crustal Evolution of the Copper-Gold Metallogenic Belt in the Middle and Lower Reaches of the Yangtze River:Some Isotope Constraints

Studies of the Pb, Sr and Nd isotopic composition of Mesozoic intrusive rocks indicate that the basement of the copper-gold metallogenic belt of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River has “two-layer structure” and partly has “multi-layered structure”, and is inhomogeneous and shows the distinct feature of E-W provincialism. The calculated model lead ages (t1) are mostly greater than 2600 Ma, and the model neodymium ages (TDM) vary from 953 to 2276 Ma and concentrate in two time intervals: 1800–2000 Ma and 1200–1600 Ma. It is concluded that the basement of the MBYR is composed of the Late Archaeozoic to Middle Proterozoic metamorphic series and that the crust was initiated in the Archaean and continued to grow in the Early and Middle Proterozoic, and the proportion of new crust formed by mantle differentiation during the Late Proterozoic is low.

Cathodoluminescence and Trace Element Composition of Scheelite from the Middle-Lower Yangtze River Metallogenic Belt(MLYB): Implications for Mineralization and Exploration

The Middle-Lower Yangtze River Metallogenic Belt(MLYB)is known to contain abundant copper and iron porphyry-skarn deposits,with an increasing number of tungsten deposits and scheelite in Fe-Cu deposits being discovered in the MLYB during recent decades.The ore genesis of the newly-discovered tungsten mineralization in the MLYB is poorly understood.We investigate four sets of scheelite samples from tungsten,iron and copper deposits,using CL imaging and LA-ICP-MS techniques to reveal internal zonation patterns and trace element compositions.The REE distribution patterns of four studied deposits show varying degrees of LREE enrichment with negative Eu anomalies.The oxygen fugacity of ore-forming fluid increased in Donggushan,while the oxygen fugacity of ore-forming fluid decreased in Ruanjiawan,Guilinzheng and Gaojiabang.The scheelites from the Donggushan,Ruanjiawan,Guilinzheng and Gaojiabang deposits show enrichment in LREEs and HFSE,with Nb/La ratios ranging from 1.217 to 52.455,indicating that the four tungsten deposits are enriched in the volatile fluorine.A plot of(La/Lu)N versus Mo/δEu can be used to distinguish quartz vein type,porphyry and skarn tungsten deposits.This study demonstrates that scheelite grains can be used to infer tungsten mineralization and are effective in identifying magmatic types of tungsten deposits in prospective mining sites.

Geochemistry and Geochronology of the Causative Intrusion and a New Genetic Model Study of the Yaojialing Polymetallic Skarn Deposit, Tongling District, China

The Yaojialing deposit is the first large-scale Zn-Au-Cu polymetallic skarn deposit located in the Shatanjiao ore field of the Tongling area in the Middle-Lower Yangtze belt.It has distinct metallogenic characteristics and is clearly different from the known skarn Cu-Au deposits in the Tongling area and the Middle-Lower Yangtze belt.Previous studies of the Yaojialing deposit have included rock geochemistry,alteration and mineralization characteristics,as well as metallogenesis and metallogenic models.However,there are still numerous problems concerning the coexistence of multiple elements,metallogenetic specialization of the magma and the metallogenic model.In this study,using the latest production exploration work on the deposit,we investigated the Yaojialing deposit including its geological characteristics,petrography,LA-ICP MS zircon U-Pb dating and whole rock geochemistry.Two kinds of magmatic rocks have been distinguished for the first time in the deposit,amongst which the granodiorite porphyry exposed on the surface of the mining area,which is the host rock of the veined lead-zinc ore body,is the wall-rock intrusion;and the deep concealed quartz monzonite porphyry is the causative intrusion,the distribution of orebodies and wall-rock alteration characteristics showing regular zoning around the quartz monzonite porphyry.The^(206)Pb/^(238)U weighted average age of the granodiorite porphyry is 140.2±1.0 Ma(MSWD=0.85,n=13)by LA-ICP MS zircon U-Pb dating,while the quartz monzonite porphyry is 138.9±1.2 Ma(MSWD=0.60,n=16),which is consistent with petrographic evidence.The geochemical characteristics show that the quartz monzonite porphyry is a high-K calc-alkaline series peraluminous rock.The trace element characteristics show that the quartz monzonite porphyry is enriched in LILE such as K,Rb,Sr,Ba and LREE,yet depleted in HFSE such as Nb,Ta,P and Ti.The Yaojialing deposit shows the mineralization characteristics of proximal skarn and distal skarn,having the common characteristics of'multi-storey'and'Trinity'met

浅成低温热液矿床是世界上银矿的重要矿床类型,伴生有金铜铅锌等多种金属。银的赋存状态研究可以为矿床资源禀赋、选冶成本以及经济价值的综合评价提供重要的依据。近年来,矿物自动定量分析系统越来越多地应用到贵金属的赋存状态研究中,相比传统方法而言其能提供精确定量的矿物学信息。悦洋银多金属矿床位于福建省紫金山矿田,是典型的浅成低温热液矿床,是研究银赋存状态的理想选区。通过野外地质调查研究发现,矿体主要受控于岩性边界和断裂构造,主要矿石类型为热液角砾岩型和石英脉型。成矿作用可以分为石英-黄铁矿、石英-黄铁矿-黄铜矿、石英-银多金属、石英-碳酸盐等四个阶段,其中银在石英-银多金属阶段沉淀,可以进一步划分为石英伊利石硫化物亚阶段和石英冰长石硫化物亚阶段。本文在野外地质调查的基础上,针对不同的矿石类型使用TIMA(TESCAN Integrated Mineral Analyzer)自动矿物分析系统,结合显微镜下观察、扫描电镜和电子探针分析手段,对银的赋存形式和分布情况进行了定量化研究,根据矿物共生组合对银沉淀机制及成矿过程进行了探讨。研究结果显示,悦洋矿床中的银90%以上以独立矿物的形式存在,主要是硫化银和自然银,且粒径大多在10~50μm之间;少部分银以次显微包裹体形式存在于黄铜矿中,或以显微包裹体和类质同相形式存在于黄铁矿和闪锌矿中。成矿热液中银主要以硫氢络合物形式运移,主成矿期大量的冰长石与银矿物共生表明沸腾作用是主要的沉淀机制。

Introduction to the Middle-Lower Yangtze River Valley Metallogenic Belt The Middle-Lower Yangtze River Valley metallogenic belt(MLYB)has been a cradle of modern metallogeny in China.In the MLYB,there are numerous stratabound sulfide deposits and polymetallic skarn-porphyry and magnetite-apatite deposits,together constituting a significant mineralogic exploration belt on the northern margin of the Yangtze craton.The deposit metallogenic series(Cheng et al.,1979),the metallogenic system(Zhai,1999),a porphyritic iron metallogenic model(Ningwu Iron Ore Research Group,1978),the continental fault depression belt in a syngenetic submarine copper deposit(Gu and Xu,1986),stratabound skarn(Chang et al.,1991)and the Mesozoic large-scale metallogenic explosion(Pan and Dong,1999;Mao et al.,1999)in the MLYB have been described and reviewed in detail.The Middle to Lower Yangtze region has been one of the main targets of research and exploration since the early period of geological work in China since the middle 20th century,Chang et al.(1991),Zhai et al.(1992),Tang et al.(1998)and other researchers have made a full review of the achievements before the 1990s.In the 21st century,much further research work has been carried out in the MLYB.Chang et al.(2012,2017,2019),Mao et al.(2011,2012),Pirajno and zhou(2015),Xie et al.

Three-dimensional P-wave Velocity Structure Modelling of the Middle and Lower Reaches of the Yangtze River Metallogenic Belt: Crustal Architecture and Metallogenic Implications

In this study,we compiled and analyzed 69310 P-wave travel-time data from 6639 earthquake events.These events(M≥2.0)occurred from 1980 s to June 2019 and were recorded at 319 seismic stations(Chinese Earthquake Networks Center)in the study area.We adopted the double-difference seismic tomographic method(tomo DD)to invert the 3-D P-wave velocity structure and constrain the crust-upper mantle architecture of the Middle and Lower Reaches of the Yangtze River Metallogenic Belt(MLYB).A 1-D initial model extracted from wide-angle seismic profiles was used in the seismic tomography,which greatly reduced the inversion residual.Our results indicate that reliable velocity structure of th e uppermost mantle can be obtained when Pn is involved in the tomography.Our results show that:(1)the pattern of the uppermost mantle velocity structure corresponds well with the geological partitioning:a nearly E-W-trending low-velocity zone is present beneath the Dabie Orogen,in contrast to the mainly NE-trending low-velocity anomalies beneath the Jiangnan Orogen.They suggest the presence of thickened lower crust beneath the orogens in the study area.In contrast,the Yangtze and Cathaysia blocks are characterized by relatively high-velocity anomalies;(2)both the ultra-high-pressure(UHP)metamorphic rocks in the Dabie Orogen and the low-pressure metamorphic rocks in the Zhangbaling dome are characterized by high-velocity anomalies.The upper crust in the Dabie Orogen is characterized by a low-velocity belt,sandwiched between two high velocity zones in a horizontal direction,with discontinuous low-velocity layers in the middle crust.The keel of the Dabie Orogen is mainly preserved beneath its northern section.We infer that the lower crustal delamination may have mainly occurred in the southern Dabie Orogen,which caused the mantle upwelling responsible for the formation of the granitic magmas emplaced in the middle crust as the low-velocity layers observed there.Continuous deep-level compression likely squeezed the granitic magma upward to int

硒和碲是重要的战略性关键金属,在现代工业和国防建设中有着广泛的应用。硒和碲通常很难形成独立矿床,目前全球大部分硒和碲来自斑岩型铜金矿床。长江中下游成矿带是我国东部重要的斑岩-矽卡岩型铜金矿床成矿带之一,前人虽然对成矿带内矽卡岩型矿床中伴生关键金属已开展了相关研究,但对成矿带内斑岩矿床中关键金属的赋存状态、分布和富集规律尚关注较少。本次工作以成矿带内沙溪斑岩型铜金矿床为研究对象,系统采集了矿床不同深度、不同类型的岩矿石样品,通过扫描电子显微镜、全岩化学分析、TIMA及矿物原位LA-ICP-MS微量成分测试等分析技术方法对矿床中硒和碲等关键金属开展了系统的研究。结果表明,沙溪矿床中硒和碲元素发生显著富集,与主成矿元素铜具有明显的正相关关系。估算矿床中伴生硒资源量约为1196t、碲资源量约为96.6t,其中硒达到大型规模,具有潜在利用价值。与成矿带内其他典型矽卡岩矿床(包括斑岩-矽卡岩矿床)相比,沙溪斑岩型矿床中硒和碲的含量明显偏低,这可能是深部成矿岩浆演化过程的差异导致的。矿床中有91.64%的硒、87.48%的碲是以独立矿物形式存在。沙溪矿床硒、碲与主成矿元素铜和金的富集规律一致,流体混合过程中氧逸度的变化可能是硒和碲的主要的沉淀机制。

Genesis of Mafic Microgranular Enclaves in the Shaocunwu Granodiorite,Southern China,and their Implications:Evidence from Zircon and Whole-rock Geochemistry

Magmatic microgranular enclaves(MMEs)are widely developed in the Shaocunwu granodiorite at the northeast margin of the eastern Jiangnan orogenic belt.Field geology showed that the MMEs occur as irregular ellipsoids near the edge of the intrusion,and consist of diorite,dominantly composed of amphibole,biotite,and plagioclase grains,with minor acicular apatite.Zircon U-Pb dating showed the ages of the host granodiorites and MMEs are 145.9±1.1 Ma and 145.6±2.5 Ma,respectively,indicating both originated during coeval late Jurassic magmatism.Whole-rock geochemical results show that the host granodiorite and MMEs have similar rare earth and trace element partition curves in spider grams,and similar 87Sr/86Sr,and 147Nd/144Nd isotope ratios,and their zircon 177Hf/176Hf isotopic ratios are similar.Geochemical studies indicate that both the host granodiorite and MMEs formed by mixing of coeval magma.Zircon Ti thermometers and oxygen fugacity of the host granodiorite and the MMEs show high oxygen fugacity,similar to that of W-Cu(Mo)mineralized granitoids in the eastern Jiangnan orogenic belt.A similar magma mixing process was probably one of the mechanisms that generated the W-Cu(Mo)fertile melts.

Geochronology and significance of volcanic rocks in the Ning-Wu Basin of China

The Ning-Wu(Nanjing-Wuhu) Basin is one of the most important volcanic basins in the Middle-Lower Yangtze River Valley,eastern China.It consists of four volcanic units,i.e.,the Longwangshan,Dawangshan,Gushan,and Niangniangshan Formations.Their LA-ICP MS U-Pb zircon ages are 134.8±1.8,132.2±1.6,129.5±0.8,and 126.8±0.6 Ma,respectively.Results of this study indicate that all volcanic rocks in the Ning-Wu Basin were formed in the Early Cretaceous from 135 to 127 Ma,lasting 8-10 m.y.No Jurassic volcanic activities occurred in any of the volcanic basins of the Middle-Lower Yangtze River Valley,including the Ning-Wu Basin.These new chronological results provide significant evidence for further study of this region to improve our understanding of Mesozoic tectonic,magmatic,and metallogenic processes of eastern China.
