Influence of sperm morphology on pregnancy outcome and offspring in in vitro fertilization and intracytoplasmic sperm injection:a matched case-control study

Sperm morphology was once believed as one of the most predictive indicators of pregnancy outcome in assisted reproductive technology(ART).However,the impact of teratozoospermia on in vitro fertilization(IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI)outcomes and its offspring remains *** order to evaluate the influence of teratozoospermia on pregnancy outcome and newborn status after IVF and ICSI,a retrospective study was *** was a matched case-control study that included 2202 IVF cycles and 2574 ICSI cycles and was conducted at the Reproductive and Genetic Hospital of CITIC-Xiangya in Changsha,China,from June 2013 to June *** were divided into two groups based on sperm morphology:teratozoospermia and normal sperm *** pregnancy outcome and newborn outcome were *** results indicated that couples with teratozoospermia had a significantly lower optimal embryo rate compared to those with normal sperm morphology in IVF(P=0.007),while there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in terms of the fertilization rate,cleavage rate,implantation rate,and pregnancy rate(all P>0.05).Additionally,teratozoospermia was associated with lower infant birth weight in multiple births after *** regard to ICSI,there was no significant difference in both pregnancy outcome and newborn outcome between the teratozoospermia and normal groups(both P>0.05).Furthermore,no increase in the risk of birth defects occurred in the teratozoospermia group after IVF/***,we believe that teratozoospermia has limited predictive value for pregnancy outcomes in IVF/ICSI,and has little impact on the resulting offspring if multiple pregnancy is avoided.

Esophageal tuberculosis complicated with intestinal tuberculosis: A case report

BACKGROUND Although the overall incidence of tuberculosis in underdeveloped areas has increased in recent years, esophageal tuberculosis(ET) is still rare. Intestinal tuberculosis(ITB) is relatively more common, but there are few reports of ET complicated with ITB. We report a case of secondary ET complicated with ITB in a previously healthy *** suMMARY A 27-year-old female was hospitalized for progressive dysphagia, retrosternal pain, acid regurgitation, belching, heartburn, and nausea. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy showed a mid-esophageal ulcerative hyperplastic lesion. Endoscopic ultrasonography showed a homogeneous hypoechoic lesion, with adjacent enlarged lymph nodes. Biopsy histopathology showed inflammatory exudation,exfoliated epithelial cells and interstitial granulation tissue *** revealed a rat-bite ulcer in the terminal ileum and a superficial ulcer in the ascending colon, near the ileocecal region. The ileum lesion biopsy showed focal granulomas with caseous necrosis. Polymerase chain reaction for Mycobacterium tuberculosis was positive in the esophageal and ileum lesion biopsies. The T-cell spot tuberculosis test was also positive. The patient was diagnosed with secondary ET infiltrated by mediastinal lymphadenopathy and complicated with ITB, possibly from the Mycobacterium tuberculosis-infected esophageal lesion. After 2 mo of anti-tuberculosis therapy, her symptoms improved significantly, and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy showed healing *** When dysphagia or odynophagia occurs in patients at high-risk for tuberculosis,ET should be considered.

Glacier disasters occur frequently in alpine regions around the world,but the current conventional geological disaster measurement technology cannot be directly used for glacier disaster ***,in this study,a distributed multi-sensor measurement system for glacier deformation was established by integrating piezoelectric sensing,coded sensing,attitude sensing technology and wireless communication *** traditional Modbus protocol was optimized to solve the problem of data identification confusion of different acquisition *** indoor wireless transmission,adaptive performance analysis,error measurement experiment and landslide simulation experiment,the performance of the measurement system was analyzed and *** unmanned aerial vehicle technology,the reliability and effectiveness of the measurement system were verified on the site of Galongla glacier in southeastern Tibet,*** results show that the mean absolute percentage errors were only 1.13%and 2.09%for the displacement and temperature,*** distributed glacier deformation real-time measurement system provides a new means for the assessment of the development process of glacier disasters and disaster prevention and mitigation.

In the field of glucose sensors,the development of inexpensive and high-efficiency electrochemical glucose sensors is the current research *** this paper,CuO-Co_(3)O_(4)composite with a prickly-sphere-like morphology is prepared by the facile hydrothermal method for the non-enzymatic electrochemical glucose detection.X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy,energy-dispersive X-ray spec-troscopy,and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy are used to analyze the structure,composition,and morphology of the *** addition,the electrochemical catalytic perfor-mance of CuO-Co_(3)O_(4)to glucose is obtained by cyclic voltammetry and *** excellent elec-trochemical sensing performance may be attributed to the large number of catalytic sites in the prickly-sphere-like composite and the synergistic effect of Cu and *** an applied voltage of 0.55 V,CuO-Co_(3)O_(4)composite shows sensitivity to glucose(1503.45μA·(mmol·L^(-1))^(-1)-cm^(-2)),a low detection limit(21.95μmol·L^(-1)),excellent selectivity,a high level of reproducibility,and good *** indicates that the CuO-Co_(3)O_(4)composite has a broad prospect of non-enzymatic glucose sensing application.

The aromatic peptide protected gold nanoclusters with significant Stokes shift:ligand-mediated two-step FRET

During the last decade,a great variety of ligand protected gold nanoclusters(AuNCs)have been synthesized,and their broad applications have been intensively *** the spectroscopic properties of AuNCs have been comprehensively explored,the mechanism of the significant Stokes shift(>200 nm)and the specific role played by surface ligands have not been clearly explained *** this study,a series of fluorescent AuNCs with huge Stokes shift(up to 530 nm)were successfully prepared by employing the rationally designed tri-peptides as the protecting ligands,and their spectroscopic properties were systematically *** detailed measurements on the example product,YCY-AuNCs(Tyr-Cys-Tyr liganded AuNCs),showed that the energy absorbed by the tyrosine(~250 nm)can be effectively transferred through the ligand-mediated two-step Förster resonance energy transfer(FRET)process and released as fluorescence emission in the near-infrared fluorescence(NIR)range(~780 nm),which resulted in the significant apparent Stokes *** YCY ligands play a critical role by offering the tyrosine groups(donor of the first FRET pair),generating the dityrosine-like structure on the AuNCs surface(acceptor of the first FRET pair and donor of the second FRET pair),and protecting the cores(acceptor of the second acceptor).The additional ligand exchange experiments and the investigation on the other AuNCs further demonstrated that the sufficient high density of the aromatic groups is also essential to mediate the two-step FRET and achieve the remarkable Stokes *** believe that the aromatic ligand-mediated FRET mechanism not only offers a new theoretical explanation for the huge Stokes shift exhibited in AuNCs,but also provides a general strategy for the construction of new materials with large Stokes shift.

InAs/InAsSb type-Ⅱ superlattice with near room-temperature long-wave emission through interface engineering

Ga-free InAs/InAsSb type-Ⅱ superlattices(T2SL) have extensive application prospective in infrared photodetectors. Achieving higher operation temperature is critical to its commercial applications. Here, a fractional monolayer alloy method was used to grow InAsSb alloy with better controlled alloy composition. The as-grown T2SL gave eleven satellite peaks and a first satellite peak with a narrow full-width-half-maximum (FWHM) of 20.5arcsec (1 arcsec=0.01592°). Strain mapping results indicated limited Sb diffusion through the As-Sb exchange process at the interface. Moreover, unlike interface states caused by the As-Sb exchange effect, this relatively clear interface was distinctive with localized states with higher activation energies of the non-radiative recombination process ((18±1) meV and (84±12) meV at different temperature ranges), which means that this interface state introduced by fractional monolayer alloy growth method can effectively suppress Auger recombination process in T2SL. Through this interface engineering of InAs/InAsSb Type-Ⅱ superlattice, it achieved detective photoluminescence (PL) signal with the center wavelength of 9μm at 250K.

High-Sensitivity Detection of Fruit Tree Viruses UsingBacterial Magnetic Particles

Prunus necrotic ring spot virus （PNRSV） and grapevine fanleaf virus （GFLV） were detected by fluoroimmunoassay using bacterial magnetic particles （BMPs）, and a double antibody sandwich enzyme linked immunosorbent assay （DAS-EliSA）. For the fluoroimmunoassay, fluorescein isothiocyanate labeled anti-PNRSV antibody or anti-GFLV antibody was conjugated onto BMPs of Magnetospirillum gryphiswaldense MSR-1. With this method, a very low minimum antigen concentration （1×10^6 dilution of the original sample concentration） could be detected. Using DAS-EliSA, the minimum antigen detection concentration was the original sample concentration. Thus, comparing these two methods, a BMP-based method could increase the sensitivity up to six orders of magnitude （10^6） higher than an EliSA-based method of detection PNRSV and GFLV.
