Adaptive Statistical Spatial Downscaling of Precipitation Supported by High-Resolution Atmospheric Simulation Data for Mountainous Areas of Nepal

In complex terrain regions, it is very challenging to obtain high accuracy and resolution precipitation data that are required in land hydrological studies. In this study, an adaptive precipitation downscaling method is proposed based on the statistical downscaling model MicroMet. A key input parameter in the MicroMet is the precipitation adjustment factor(PAF) that shows the elevation dependence of precipitation. Its value is estimated conventionally based on station observations and suffers sparse stations in high altitudes. This study proposes to estimate the PAF value and its spatial variability with precipitation data from high-resolution atmospheric simulations and tests the idea in Nepal of South Himalayas, where rainfall stations are relatively dense. The result shows that MicroMet performs the best with the PAF value estimated from the simulation data at the scale of approximately 1.5 degrees. Not only the value at this scale is qualitatively consistent with early knowledge obtained from intensive observations, but also the downscaling performance with this value is better than or comparable to that with the PAF estimated from dense station data. Finally, it is shown that the PAF estimation, although critical, cannot replace the importance of increasing input station density for downscaling.

Rare attention has been paid to the comparison between a monomer and its corresponding polymer in terms of the optoelectronic characteristics. In this article, a model H-shaped molecule and its corresponding polymer, both of which exhibited similar properties including blue emission and solution processing, were designed and synthesized. Optoelectronic properties and various kinds of stability features, including the thermostabilities, spectral stabilities and amplified spontaneous emission characteristic of the monomer and polymer were investigated. In general, the corresponding polymer PH exhibited similar optoelectronic properties but deteriorated stabilities compared with its H-shaped monomer H-1 probably owing to the similar chemical structure but the wider molecular weight distribution and metal catalyst residue. Importantly, monomer H-1 displayed a comparable ASE threshold value with its polymer PH,suggesting that H-shaped fluorene-based small molecules may be more promising optical gain media in solid state amplifers and lasers.

Nanosilver has been regarded as a promising alternative to traditional antibiotics for fighting pathogenassociated infections due to its efficacy toward a broad spectrum of ***,bacterial resistance to nanosilver has emerged *** this contribution,a surface engineering strategy based on N-halamine chemistry to address bacterial resistance to nanosilver was *** 1,3-dichloro-5,5-dimethylhydantoin(DCDMH)as an N-halamine source,AgCI nanodots were deposited on the surface of Ag nano wires(Ag NWs)via in situ redox reaction to prepare AgCl-on-Ag *** in vitro and in vivo tests,AgCl-on-Ag NWs effectively inactivated two antibiotic-resistant bacteria,ampicillinresistant Escherichia coli(AREC)and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)with the minimum bactericidal concentration(MBC)as low as 10μg·ml~(-1)and exhibited good biosafety against normal *** experimental and theoretical tests demonstrated that AgCl-onAg NWs worked on AREC and MAS A by generating high level of reactive oxygen species under visible light irradiation,coupled with the sustained Ag ion ***,the antibacterial mechanism of AgCl-on-Ag NWs against MRSA was verified at the gene level by transcriptome analysis(RNA sequencing).Moreover,the fullthickness defect model verified that AgCl-on-Ag NWs reduced inflammatory cell infiltration and dramatically accelerated wound *** work provides a synergistic mechanism based on nanosilver surface engineering to eradicate the resistant bacteria that can alleviate drug resistance and develop an innovative approach for the treatment of bacterial infections.

Two-line hybrid breeding can fully utilize heterosis in *** thermo-sensitive genic male sterile(TGMS)lines,low critical sterility-inducing temperature(CSIT)is vital to safeguard the production of two-line hybrid seeds in rice(Oryza sativa),but the molecular mechanism determining CSIT is ***,we report the cloning of CSIT1,which encodes an E3 ubiquitin ligase,and show that CSIT1 modulates the CSIT of thermo-sensitive genic male sterility 5(tms5)-based TGMS lines through ribosome-associated quality control(RQC).Biochemical assays demonstrated that CSIT1 binds to the 80S ribosomes and ubiquitinates abnormal nascent polypeptides for degradation in the RQC *** of CSIT1 function inhibits the possible damage of tms5 to the ubiquitination system and protein translation,resulting in enhanced accumulation of anther-related proteins such as catalase to suppress abnormal accumulation of reactive oxygen species and premature programmed cell death in the tapetum,thereby leading to a much higher CSIT in the tms5-based TGMS *** together,our findings reveal a regulatory mechanism of CSIT,providing new insights into RQC and potential targets for future two-line hybrid breeding.

We propose an extended cellular automaton model based on the floor field. The floor field can be changed accordingly in the presence of pedestrians. Furthermore, the effects of pedestrians with different speeds are distinguished, i.e., still pedestrians result in more increment of the floor field than moving ones. The improved floor field reflects impact of pedestrians as movable obstacles on evacuation process. The presented model was calibrated by comparing with previous studies. It is shown that this model provides a better description of crowd evacuation both qualitatively and *** we investigated crowd evacuation from a middle-size theater. Four possible designs of aisles in the theater are studied and one of them is the actual design in reality. Numerical simulation shows that the actual design of the theater is *** we optimize the position of the side exit in order to reduce the evacuation time. It is shown that the utilization of the two exits at bottom is less than that of the side exits. When the position of the side exit is shifted upwards by about 1.6 m,it is found that the evacuation time reaches its minimum.

目的:临床上坐位、站立位的平衡测试常利用平衡仪来进行,但由于平衡仪足踏板的限制,无法对脑性瘫痪(脑瘫)患儿步行时动态连续步行周期的平衡能力进行测试。文章利用足底压力式步态分析技术,观察痉挛型脑瘫儿童步行时在平衡能力方面的特征。方法:选择具有正常步行能力的健康儿童78例作为正常儿童组,另外选择2004-05/2007-05在深圳市儿童医院康复科日间病房住院治疗的脑瘫患儿25例作为脑瘫儿童组。利用足底压力式步态分析系统,对2组对象分别进行足底压力式步态分析,记录2组儿童步行时的足底压力数据。观测指标分为量化指标和直观压力图。量化指标包括步频、步态周期时间、步态周期各时相的绝对对称性指标等参数。直观压力图包括动态足底压力图以及足底压力重心偏移轨迹图。结果:与正常儿童组相比,脑瘫儿童组步频较小,步态周期时间较长(P<0.01)。脑瘫儿童组单足支撑期、摆动期、双足支撑期、步态周期时间的绝对对称性指标均大于正常儿童组(P<0.05)。脑瘫儿童步行时双足的足底压力图的对称性、重复性较正常儿童差;重心偏移轨迹图不能形成左右对称的蝴蝶状图形。结论:痉挛型脑瘫儿童步行时,步态周期各时相均存在对称性下降的情况。足底压力式步态分析技术能有效地应用于痉挛型脑瘫儿童步态的平衡能力评估。
