Engineering of efficient visible light photocatalysts:Ti_(1-x+y)Cu_(x)La_(y)O_(2)(x=0.03;y=0,0.005,0.01) compositions

In dye-photocatalysis, widening the wavelengths absorption range of catalysts as well as aborting the recombination of the photoexcited charge carriers(electrons-holes pairs) are of paramount *** the current study, we report the photocatalytic characteristics of four compositions composed of TiO_(2),Ti_(0.97)Cu_(0.03)O_(2), Ti_(0.965)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.005)O_(2)and Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.01)O_(2)powders for two harmful dyes(Congo red and methylene blue). The X-ray diffraction technique verified the configuration of mixed anatase and rutile phases in pure TiO_(2)and Ti_(0.97)Cu_(0.03)O_(2)powders while Ti_(0.965)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.005)O_(2)and Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.01)O_(2)powders possess anatase phase only. The changes of the band gap structure and dimensions of the unit cell volume of TiO_(2)confirm the substitution of Ti^(4+)sites by Cu^(2+)and La^(3+)ions. Remarkable widening of wavelengths absorption with formation of long absorption tails were found in TiO_(2)(3.13 e V) through insertion of La^(3+)plus Cu^(2+)ions. Ti_(0.965)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.005)O_(2)and Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.01)O_(2)samples exhibit a visible light band gap of 2.3 and 2.7 e V, respectively. Based on sEm images, incorporation of Cu^(2+)and La^(3+)ions influences the surface morphology of TiO_(2). The resulting Ti_(0.97)Cu_(0.03)O_(2), Ti_(0.965)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.005)O_(2)and Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.01)O_(2)powders present enhanced photocatalytic activity towards Congo red dye degradation compared to pure one under natural solar spectrum. The best Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.01)O_(2)catalyst exhibits superior photocatalytic activity of 96% for 10 ppm CR dye in 20 min as well as above average photocatalytic efficiency of 63% for 30 ppm CR dye in 120 min. As well, it showed acceptable photodegradation activity of 52% for 30 ppm mB solution in 140 min of sunlight irradiation. Rapid rupture characterization for the 2023 m_(s)6.2 Jishishan earthquake

On December 18, 2023, the m_(s)6.2 Jishishan earthquake occurred in the northeastern region of the QinghaiXizang Plateau, causing heavy casualties and property damage in Gansu and Qinghai Provinces. In this study,we integrate space imaging geodesy, finite fault inversion, and back-projection methods to decipher its rupture property, including fault geometry, coseismic slip distribution, rupture direction, and propagation speed. The results reveal that the seismogenic fault dips to the southwest at an angle of 29°. The major slip asperity is dominated by reverse slip and is concentrated within a depth range of 7–16 km, which explains the significant uplift near the epicenter observed by both the sentinel-1 ascending and descending In sAR data. moreover, the teleseismic array waveforms indicate a northwest propagating rupture with an overall slow rupture velocity of~1.91 km/s(AK array) or 1.01 km/s(AU array).

Direct microwave leaching conditions of rare earth elements in fluorescent wastes

The luminescent phosphor powder in the fluorescent lamp constitutes 2%of the lamp’s *** can be mentioned that fluorescent wastes are a crucial raw material to produce rare earth *** the present study,microwave leaching process was conducted to dissolve rare earth elements yttrium(Y),europium(Eu),and remaining rare earth elements(REEs)present in the phosphor powder of the fluorescent *** the yields were *** the microwave leaching process,the effects of the temperature(80-160℃),acid type(hydrochloric acid(HCl),nitric acid(HNO_(3)),sulphuric acid(H_(2)sO_(4))),acid concentration(0.5-6 mol/L),solid to liquid ratio(0.1:10-0.5:10)and reaction time(5-90 min)parameters on leaching efficiencies of varying rare earth elements and calcium were *** highest yield was obtained in the direct microwave leaching of fluorescent waste with the experimental conditions of 6 mol/L HCl,160℃,0.1:10 solid-to-liquid ratio(s:L),and 90 *** energy calculations were made,and kinetic models of the reactions were obtained,and it is observed that Y and Eu dissolution is diffusion-controlled,on the other hand,lanthanum(La),cerium(Ce),and terbium(Tb)were examined to be chemical reaction ***,calcium(Ca)and gadolinium(Gd)seem coherent with the mixed ***,mathematical models of all experimental studies are created with the response surface Box-Behnken method and the correlation coefficients of all the models are over 90%.

sensitive magnetic field sensor with good performances can be fabricated utilizing the giant magneto-impedance (GmI) effect of soft magnetic multi-layer thin films. The transverse and longitudinal GmI effect in patterned FesiB/Cu/FesiB tri-layer films with the change of external magnetic field and frequency were studied at the same time. The change of the impedance of the films with the external magnetic fieldand frequency was shown. Comparing the longitudinal and transverse effect, the transverse effect has a larger linear range from zero magnetic field to a quite large magnetic field at all frequencies, and the change still were not saturated until the external magnetic field reached 1.2×104A/m, which illustrated that the films can be utilized to detect larger magnetic fields than now presented GmI sensors.

Perfluorinated iodine alkanes promote the differentiation of mouse embryonic stem cells by regulating estrogen receptor signaling

Investigating the development toxicity of perfuorinated iodine alkanes(PFIs)is critical,given their estrogenic effects through binding with estrogen receptors(ERs).In the present study,two PFIs,including dodecafuoro-1,6-diiodohexane(PFHx DI)and tridecafuorohexyl iodide(PFHx I),with binding preference to ERαand ERβ,respectively,were selected to evaluate their effects on proliferation and differentiation of the mouse embryonic stem cells(m EsCs).The results revealed that,similar to E_(2),50μmol/L PFHx DI accelerated the cell proliferation of the m *** PFI stimulation at the exposure concentrations of 2–50μmol/L promoted the differentiation of the m EsCs as characterized by the upregulation of differentiation-related biomarkers(i.e.,Otx2 and Dnmt3β)and downregulation of pluripotency genes(i.e.,Oct4,Nanog,sox2,Prdm14 and Rex1).Comparatively,PFHx DI exhibited higher induction effect on the differentiation of the m EsCs than did PFHx *** tests on ER signaling indicated that both PFI compounds induced exposure concentration-dependent expressions of ER signaling-related biomarkers(i.e.,ERα,ERβand Caveolin-1)in the m EsCs,and the downstream ER responsive genes(i.e.,c-fos,c-myc and c-jun)well responded to PFHx I *** role of ER in PFI-induced effects on the m EsCs was further validated by the antagonistic experiments using an ER inhibitor(ICI).The findings demonstrated that PFIs triggered ER signaling,and perturbed the differentiation program of the m EsCs,causing the potential health risk during early stage of development.

Prediction of damage potential in mainshock–aftershock sequences using machine learning algorithms

Assessing the potential damage caused by earthquakes is crucial for a community’s emergency *** this study,four machine learning(mL)methods—random forest,extremely randomized trees,AdaBoost(AB),and gradient boosting(GB)—were employed to develop prediction models for the damage potential of the mainshock(DIms)and mainshock–aftershock sequences(DImA).Building structures were modeled using eight single-degree-of-freedom(sDOF)systems with different hysteretic rules.A set of 662 recorded mainshock–aftershock(ms-As)ground motions was selected from the PEER *** intensity measures(Ims)were chosen to represent the characteristics of the mainshock and *** results revealed that the selected mL methods can well predict the structural damage potential of the sDOF systems,except for the AB *** GB model exhibited the best performance,making it the recommended choice for predicting DIms and DImA among the four mL ***,the impact of input variables in the prediction was investigated using the shapley additive explanations(sHAP)*** high-correlation variables were sensitive to the structural period(T).At T=1.0 s,the mainshock peak ground velocity(PGVm)and aftershock peak ground displacement(PGDA)significantly influenced the prediction of *** T increased to 5.0 s,the primary high-correlation factor of the mainshock Ims changed from PGVm to the mainshock peak ground displacement(PGDm);however,the highcorrelation variable of the aftershock Ims remained *** high-correlation factors for DIms showed trends similar to those of ***,a table summarizing the first and second high-correlation variables for predicting DIms and DImA were provided,offering a valuable reference for parameter selection in seismic damage prediction for mainshock–aftershock sequences.
